Quote:Minor correction: wasn't the DS9 wormhole connected to the Gamma Quadrant and that was to be Voyager's mish?Which goes counter to what they set off to do at the beginning of the series, when she said basically "We're explorers. We'll make our way home while setting out to do what we were planning to do all along."
That was voyager's mission from the start. To explore the Delta Quadrant. Only before they had a quick way home with the wormhole. -
Wasn't Wolverine's Galactus-level healing factor revealed to have been magically augmented and now he's back to only Highlander-level regeneration?
In any event: Wolverine, Sabertooth and X-23 may survive a nuke but their powers will likely be overtaxed and compensating for radiation sickness for some time. This was also shown in a Highlander comic where Duncan was on a nuke sub that went nuclear. Afterwards he was alive (somehow his head didn't come off) and was showing signs of constantly regenerating from rad. damage.
Superman can take a nuke, therefore so can Captain Marvel (Shazam version not Mar-Vell version)
A herald of Galactus would laugh at a nuke, so would the Juggernaut and THOR.
Way back in the classic Dreadstar comic, the combined powers of both Vanth Dreadstar and his sorceror friend Szygy Darklock enabled them to survive a nuclear attack. (They fled to the lowest levels of the city sewers, Szygy used his power for forcefield shielding and Vanth's sword can absorb transfinite amounts of energy.)
Red Hulk should be able to take a nuke, so should most Green versions of Banner_Hulk, but the Grey Hulk due his lower power base may have trouble. -
Perhaps the question to ask isn't "Is it too soon for another Trek series" but "Is it too LATE for another Trek series?"
Franchise fatigue, fan burnout, Berman and Braga's crummy legacy with Trek.....perhaps Trek is done? -
Quote:I can see Barry saving his mother causing some ripples in the timestream, much like dropping a stone in water will cause ripples, but I cannot see how saving his mother would affect the entire planet instead of just affecting his own personal history.Yeah, I don't know if I buy that as the entire explanation. We'll see what happens in the rest of the issue, but I really can't see how Barry doing what Zoom says he did would cause all the different changes we've seen. Somehow, Barry pulling the Speed Force back into himself to stop his mother's murder "broke" history/reality?
And again, Zoom, Barry wouldn't have done that if you hadn't screwed up the past by going after his mother in the first place. So, no... this is still your fault because you couldn't just leave the Flash alone.
Seriously, how could saving his mother change things so that Bruce was killed and Thomas Wayne is the Batman? Or Superman's rocket landing and Superman being taken into govt. custody? Or the pending war with Atlantis and Thymescara?
Barry attempting to save his mother may have had some effect but I think PRof. Zoom is the one still to blame. -
My energy armor brute was tossed into the drawer metaphorically speaking, but now with ish 21 around the corner, we shall see.
I have a lowbie ice armor/fire melee tank that I tinker with, might level it up someday. -
Back in TOS we had the Mirror Universe episode where at the end Kirk challenged the illogic of waste and how the Empire was doomed from within to Goatee Spock and got him to consider reforming the Empire.
In a DS9 ep, we see that under the right conditions, the wormhole can lead to the mirror universe and we had I think another ep or 2 that dealt with the mirror universe.
Perhaps a series where the Federation is at war with the Mirror Universe?
There were the Shatner novels that dealt with the ramifications of his visit to the mirror-verse but novels aren't canon. -
Quote:Not sure if I want a GB 3 either, but who knows? Get a new crew going and have Ray or Igon pop up in sequels as tech support or something and the franchise could live again. All I have to say about a GB3 movie is:
Don't. Just.... don't.
/It would have to be a frakking home run to be worth seeing, IMO.
As to Bill Murray, it's his loss. If he can't get over himself and/or any problems he may have with some of the cast and crew, then too bad for him.
In fact......I just thought of someone that could easily play a Venkeman type of character, and despite his age might be able to run around with a proton pack on his back.
This guy is well known for playing wisecracking characters and he's also known for some action as well.......
......I speak of Bruce Campbell. Just imagine him suited up as a Ghostbuster, not to mention all the ARmy of Darkness and Burn Notice jokes they could put into the movie as well. I can just see him suiting up and charging up the proton pack and gun and saying that magic word:......GROOVY! -
Quote:Indeed. Knowing one's limitations can be seen as a sign of wisdom. As for Bill Murray, I think he's talented in many roles he's played and yes he rocked as Venkeman, BUT.......everything I read over the years implied or stated that he was a hold out for a third Ghostbusters, for differing reasons that usually boiled down to the following alleged reasons:I think running around with a proton pack strapped to my back would be a young person's game.
I'm glad that Ackroyd recognizes that he's old and that he could make a new franchise out of this with a young cast as opposed to a Ghostbusters' version of Golden Girls.
1. Money (a no brainer, but still needs to be listed)
2. Supposed personal problems with some of the cast
3. Wasn't thrilled with Ghostbusters 2
However if after all this time he can't make peace with anyone he has a problem with, or still hates GB2, then they need to move on without him. As the movie was rumored to be more of a Ghostbusters:TNG most of the time then they can pass the torch without Venkeman.
They could simply say Venkeman was killed fighting some super ghost or demon or else that he went missing after a climatic battle and they've never been able to find him. Problem solved. -
The absence of Married with Children, WKRP (original series not the new one), Cosby Show, Soap, Night Court, and M*A*S*H pretty much invalidate the list.
Also no mention of the THREE STOOGES? FOR SHAME! -
The deleted scenes are nice, but I'm just not feeling the urge to get bluray versions of the movies that I have seen so many times.
Sorry George
(leaves lightsaber and jedi robes on desk as I leave) -
Quote:Not bad.Another interesting take would be if instead of the future they told stories about the galactic power that ruled from the last generation of space fairing species.
How about this: the Botany Bay wasn't the only ship of super-humans to escape Earth. There was another, it landed on an uninhabited planet, the crew awoke and made the planet their own......now they are returning..... -
Quote:Presuming that George Lucas and Paramount could strike a bargain to allow such a movie to happen, it won't matter as neither Lucas nor Paramount will want to lose the battle. But but but, what if the Empire shows up in the future when....STAR TREK is reality.
The ultimate Star Wars vs Star Trek debate played out in movie form as the Evil Empire descends upon Earth and encounters the United Federation of Planets in the ultimate battle of geekdom known to man.
Stalemate. -
Quote:Well Shatner is what.....mid 70's now? I saw the pics of Frakes and Spiner (Ryker and Data) at a recent con and Spiner especially isn't looking that swell.I default to the brand name needing fresh blood. If you saw pictures from this past Convention, the *popular* actors are old....in some cases, very old.
Though I am not a Trekkie, I have always enjoyed the shows and would say it is never too early to continue the Star Trek trek.
Fresh blood is definitely needed for the franchise, but what's needed more is a good approach to the stories and characters without the feeling of "been there, done that" or "deja vu" being felt by the fans.
Also they should avoid Deus Ex Machina characters like Data and Wesley. How many episodes was it Data or Wesley saving the day?.......then comes the episode The Game where it was a combined effort of the two of them to save the day.
Continuity must also be respected: case in point: in TNG Season 1, Data was vulnerable to the "drunk disease" just like everyone else, in all other episodes he was the quasi-invincible android....... make up your minds, writers.
Whatever new show emerges, I hope the writers get advice from JMS on how to maintain a strong sense of continuity and plot integrity throughout the series, as Babylon 5 did. Please note: I'm not saying B5 was flawless, but it was more solid then the Trek series have been. -
Quote:To me, Voyager was what damaged the franchise, then Enterprise was a band-aid over a gaping wound.Star Trek was never burned out before. Enterprise failed and is looked back negatively on because #1 it never got to finish it's overarching story and it was a series that planned for a several year run and then got told you got 3 halfway through the 3rd season and #2 it was moved around so much that it could never get an audience, either noone could find or when they could it was on repeats or it was moving again the following week.
There are 3 places that I think could really make another Star Trek a great show...
#1. 31st century. Instead of focusing all the writing on one cast and crew and ship and time with this the writers could get a small main cast which would keep costs down and then they could travel to other time periods in the star Trek Timeline which would allow them to go back to any of the previous show's time periods and ships.
#2. The point where Humans are exploring alternate dimensions... this would let them trek through new stars and meet new species which is really cool
#3. Humans vs Q in the distant future it is always assumed that humans will reach Q level along with several other races Q messing with humans seems an attempt to mess with this future. This would a hard thing to write well but it would be fun ^.^
Also TOS was about 40+ years old when Enterprise was made, and now Paramount decides to make a prequel series to TOS???? From an FX standpoint alone that was a bad idea.... -
Quote:One problem with a ship being blasted into the future is that supposedly in the future the Federation can time warp as easily as warping thru space and they have a Temporal Prime Directive and are dedicated to maintaining the timeline. So eventually such a person would have to come along and zap them home. Or they could run the computations for the old "sling shot" effect that was used twice in TOS and in Star Trek 4 when Spock casually proposed that they go get some whales despite the species being extinct. McCoy's reaction to that idea as he figured it is still priceless.Kinda. When I was younger, back when there was just TNG and DS9, I had thought of a ST series where it basically had the Federation in pieces and the galaxy torn asunder to give it more of an old west feeling.
Of course, my idea of a cast didn't include all young cast, infact I had the idea of Barclay being the cheif engineer on the ship (because I just loved Barclay)
To be honest I think I'd prefer JMS work out the details and give us a TV miniseries or regular series about Babylon FOUR and how Valen/Sinclair had to make sure the future was set to how he knew it was supposed to be and defeat the shadows. -
Quote:Well at the end of the ep Tygris seemed convinced he had no place in the world. I could see Vixen of the JLU getting along with Tigris.I can't help but think that they must have ran into SOMEONE that would like him enough to be friends with him. Especally once they went into JLU. Or he could have joined the JLU to have more friends. He was lonely, and a lot of that group were outsider types that might have understood him.
It just bugs me that his story basically ended with "They left, and he was lonely forever. The end." Even if Catwoman never went back, you'd think Batman would try to do more for him than that. -
Quote:The guy had one of Joker's bombs in his hand and had Joker cornered stating he was fed up with Joker having stalked him for years and trying to kill him and that Joker would perish basically at the hands of an ordinary man instead of some final showdown with the dark knight. Joker was pleading and calling for Batman at the same time.Yep
I remember that episode but...don't really remember the ending...hmmm
Batman approached Joker from behind and quietly observed events as Joker was scrambling frantically.....Joker then hands over all his copies of the guy's ID and address etc and surrenders to Batman's custody. The guy tosses the bomb at Joker's feet and Joker freaks out until the bomb is revealed to be one of Joker's harmless decoy bombs. Batman actually laughed for a moment and then told the guy to head home as he took Joker away. -

Only thing that helped Kevin Costner's Robin Hood was Sean Connery appearing at the end.
-
Give Dwarf mode fury bar or else rage (maybe both?), also some - endurance resistance
Human mode: remove group flight and insert a damage aura
All attacks in all forms have the damage amped up.
Some of the KB should become KD -
It was a noble gesture when he gave Selina the antidote to restore her. Still what else could be done except somehow have Tygrus be the progenitor of a new race?
-
Nice Conan adapation. Still wouldn't mind Ahnold doing a KING Conan movie.

How about favorite Batman Beyond episodes:
1. the two part premier that showed why Bruce retired (usage of the gun, not the heart problem) and how he had lived for all the years until Terry came along. Also the creation of Blight.
2. Meltdown: a touching episode/finale for Mr. Freeze. Had they not betrayed him.....also just because he reverted doesn't mean Powers would have, especially if that had some of Power's DNA from before he was "blighted".
3. the episode where Inque escaped and Bruce put on the exo armor to fight her.
4. End of Season 1: the showdown between Terry and Blight: "Who ARE you?" "You killed my father!" "Do you have the slightest idea how LITTLE that narrows it down?"
5. the episode that debuted the Stalker and his hunt for Batman
6. the season 3 episode that dealt with Talia and Rha's Al Ghul. Not sure I agree with Bruce's reasoning for not using the pit and starting over, but it's his choice.
7. the episode Chimera
8. The two part episode: The Call that gave us the Justice League, plus the end of part one was rather dramatic as Bruce gives Terry the kryptonite and tells him to stop Superman at all costs.
9. the movie; Return of the Joker
10. The JLU episode: Epilogue that revealed that not at all surprising secret about Terry's lineage. -
Quote:Some of the episodes I would've put on that list (in no particular order):
- See No Evil: A small-time crook gets ahold of an invisibility suit and uses it to commit robberies around Gotham. We find out he has a young daughter from his ex-wife; he intends to steal her back, and use the money so that both of them can live comfortably.
- Tyger, Tyger: A twist on "The Island of Dr. Moreau," a mad scientist kidnaps Catwoman and takes her to his island filled with his genetic experiments. The real focus of this episode is the character Tygrus, one of the experiments, and his relationship with his "father," the scientist.
- Growing Pains: Aka 'The Annie episode.' Robin meets a girl with no memories, and they find that Clayface is chasing her for some reason. The ending to this episode is one of the most powerful in BTAS.
- His Silicon Soul: My favorite Batman episode. One of the HARDAC robots from an earlier episode was programmed to replicate Batman/Bruce Wayne in every way, yet he doesn't know that he's a machine.
Excellent choices.
Also that cloaking tech from See No Evil I suspect it was the basis for the cloaking tech in the Batman Beyond suit.
Same with the optical tech that Bruce used when he was blinded so that he could "see" and then go stop the Penguin. -
