Quote:Hm, interesting build. You aren't quite at defense softcap but getting there. Also as you have an anti KB io installed, I would suggest dropping acrobatics and add maneuvers to augment defense.I apologize for not posting my build earlier, I was mostly looking for some general guidance. I don't feel like I have any real "weaknesses" in my build at the moment. I feel like I have just the right amount of recovery to run all my toggles and mash buttons.
Here's my build:

Quite true. The majority of my brutes have cardiac installed, though a couple of my brutes alternate between the T4 damage alpha since it does give some end mod and T4 cardiac. Depends on the situation they are about to go in.

Yes. As much as I like Ghost Rider the character and yes I think the first movie was good despite keeping it at PG13 and giving him spider-man type of one liners when he faced most of his foes, and that the fights themselves could have been more intense.
Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance however......well this sequel despite a few minor good points, such as more intense fights, less one liners (only 2 that I noticed: "Sorry, does it hurt? It looks like it does" and after he defeats Blackout and leaves him on the road he says "Roadkill"), and nice FX for the Rider and his bike......this sequel pretty much has crashed and burned. Cage's performance at times was nice such as when he was fighting to keep the Rider contained while interrogating the arms dealer, and his fighting the transformation while riding, but at other times he was just too erratic. Not sure if Cage or the directors are to blame. Lambert's character felt like Connor Macleod turned into a monk. Blackout, nice adaptation of the comic character, though some viewers may be confused as to how his darkness power worked. Basically in the movie, he causes his target to see an illusion of total darkness then attacks them. The kid's performance as "Danny, son of the Devil" was rather bland, but then again this may be his first role so I'll cut him a break. I preferred Peter Fonda as the devil but that is a matter of preference. We also get the origin of the spirit that Blaze is possessed by, Zarathos.
Per the movie, Zarathos was an angel from the heavens sent to protect the innocent until captured and taken to the devil's realm to be tormented for years until it's mission was twisted into punishing the wicked and it became the Spirit of Vengeance. At the end though, the Rider has become what he once was and his flame color has shifted to bright blue instead of "Evil red".
Plot summary: the kid, Danny, was conceived by the Devil 13 years ago and now per prophecy intends to take the kid as his new permanent host body since it can handle all the devil's power and not burn out like the devil's other host bodies. The church of course doesn't want this and Blaze is approached with an offer: bring the kid to the sanctuary where he can be guarded until the time of prophecy is over and they will lift his curse.
Plot elements recognized from the comics:
1. Blaze makes the deal to save his dad, gets shafted and becomes the Rider.
2. Zarathos in the comics in the original Blaze GR series was a demon forming a cult on ancient Earth until Mephisto defeated him and took him to his realm.
3. In the previous GR series (not the current trainwreck of a series that will end with ish 9), it was revealed that there are multiple Riders, all agents of heaven sent to bring vengeance to evil doers. So elements 2 and 3 are blended together in this movie.
4. Blue flame: first seen in the 90's Dan Ketch GR series, used to destroy an undead foe, later used when the Rider became the "angel of death" and destroyed Blackheart. Later seen again in the more recent series when Danny absorbed all the Rider's power and turned blue and took down the gates of heaven.
5. the kid in the movie is named Danny, I'll presume that to be a reference to the 90's series.
6. Rider killing evil doers....well that did happen in the awful Ghost Rider Hammerlane miniseries that reestablished Blaze as the Rider...
Overall: wait for this movie to go Netflix and rent it or stream it from them. Not worth seeing in 2D or 3D in theater.
Movie Budget was about $55 million current box office is $48 million.
Not one of Marvel's better movies, but more fun then Elektra, Blade 3, Daredevil, Catwoman, Highlander 2, Star Trek 5......
My suggestion to Marvel: extinguish the flames and put the motorcycle in the garage. If you must do a third movie, have Cage appear long enough to get killed and the Rider power goes to Danny Ketch. Otherwise, don't bother. -
My fire armor brutes have the proc in their blazing aura, stone brutes have the proc in mudpots, electric brutes have it in lightning field. It works very nicely in those powers and I've seen the fury bonus. Also the majority of my brutes are splitting the ATO set in 2 powers due to the S/L bonus.

Quote:If you are building for defense and need a little more defense plus more End Mod then go Agility. If you are having stamina issues and don't need or want some extra defense then go Cardiac. Now that I'm 50, I'm trying to decide what to do with my alpha slot on my claws/DA brute. Any suggestions?
My own personal rule for the Alpha slot: when in doubt, take Cardiac. -
Quote:I almost shudder to think how much money it would take for them to build even one Gundam even remotely close to what we had in some of the Gundam series. Anyone got a few billion dollars sitting around? No Gundam movie plz.
Why?
Because they would depress the hell outta me that we don't have ginormous combat mechs yet. It's 2012! Quit with the impotence and baldness cures and make with the giant space combat mecha already! Do I have to do everything for you scientists?!?!
And while you're at it, throw in the microfusion cells so I can have a plasma rifle already!
What's funny is in the current bionic man comic miniseries, Steve Austin asked Oscar how much all the bionics would cost and Oscar said that with salaries to the scientists and staff, parts and labor, research and upgrades, maintenance.....roughly Six million dollars....PER DAY, and that they would keep him under warranty as it were for 5 years. So 6 million dollars a day, times 365 days per year then times that by 5 years = 10,950,000,000...throw in another 6 million for the extra day of leap year and it's 10,956,000,000. -
I think I'd rather see them adapt one of the Gundam series into live action.....yes I know there was once a live action Gundam movie, but I think they could make a nice trilogy out of Gundam Wing or Gundam Seed perhaps.

Quote:Fortunately, unless things have changed, Akira and Cowboy Bebop are stuck in development limbo with Akira being reported as having production shut down again in January, and the Bebop script being stuck in "rewrite" mode.I'm sure this will be out along with the Hollywood live action adaptations of Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, and Akira
Also the live action Ghost in the Shell movie is stuck in limbo too.
May they all stay in development limbo.
For those that think Hollywood will get the above mentioned movies right, simply go watch the live action Dragonball movie, or if you really want to have the memories; go watch the first live action Guyver movie...... -
Yeah, color me unimpressed with SSA #6. Plot holes and Manticore could have used a knockout arrow to subdue Sister Psyche. I'll send my SSA alts through this once to get the align merit but I'll keep using SSA 5 for the weekly rerun to get more Align merits.
Also on a personal note: I'm going to really enjoy defeating Darrin Wade. -

Hmmmm may not be able to incorporate it into the inv tank then.....ah well I suppose stone tank's mudpots should work.
-
The proc I definitely like from the set, but only set bonuses 2 thru 4 appeal to me. Bonuses 5 and 6....eh.
I just gained the proc the other night and I might slot it into my inv/ss tank, probably in invincibility if I can, then see if I can get a few others. -
Quote:Well I figured States was the big death but not the only death. If anyone perishes in part 7 then it gets too trivial. Of course there is still the question of Who Will Stay Dead ?Thought we could use a thread about SSA6 that wasn't about "it's here" or "and other stuff on the market" or "and new powersets" but just about *the story* and the big reveal.
Sister Psyche is dead.
So... Who Will Die? Isn't just about Statesman, but about Sister Psyche, too. And who knows... maybe more. Characters in and out of the Freedom Phalanx are now dead. More to come?
States is set to be purged from the majority of the game with ish 23, will Sis Psyche TF get renamed now? -
Dear Bill Murray
Many of us can understand and sympathize with your reluctance to return to such an iconic role as that of Peter Venkmen of the Ghostbusters. Many of us understand that time has moved on and that perhaps the Ghostbusters franchise should be either closed down for good, or perhaps just rebooted with an all new cast and move forward.
But.....if a good script/plot can be developed, and Peter Venkmen can once again steal the show his behavior and dialogue...then you......BILL!......You will have helped to brighten the lives and put smiles on the faces of millions of PAYING Ghostbusters fans.
Sincerely,
Ghostbusters fanbase. -
Quote:Anytime Marvel publishes a book titled Captain Marvel, regardless of who the star is: it resets the trademark timer. I would imagine that having a character named Captain Marvel appearing in another series such as Avengers may also reset the timer, but that I am not sure of. What I am sure of is that Marvel has a hammerlock on the rights to publish a Captain Marvel book for a long time now, and refuses to let the rights go. This of course prevents DC comics from publishing their own book titled Captain Marvel, hence the usage of SHAZAM in the title. Hate to think that it's to spite DC comics, but I can't think of any other reason for Marvel to retain the rights when their principal Captain Marvel character has been dead since the early 80's.What about Hulkling, in Children's Crusade he was briefly called Captain Marvel. Wouldn´t that be a reset for the trademark timer as well?
Also afaik Marvel is still using him in their Ultimate Universe...
Of course if they hadn't written themselves into a corner with the story of DoCM, Marv could have been revived long ago. -
Quote:Sounds about right. To honest I don't think Noh-Varr has been given a fair chance at development and I don't think that he is the right choice to be the permanent replacement to Mar-Vell.Wasn't that the basic idea behind Noh-Varr/Marvel Boy? And Bendis turned him into 'Protector'?
Also some of the negative backlash about Civil War THE RETURN was that fans kept complaining that Marv was back from the dead, which isn't accurate. Being time warped from the past to the present isn't a resurrection. Also there was the danger of what if Mar-Vell was killed in the present before he would go back to meet his end from the disease? Instead they copped out and gave us Captain Skrull-Vell.
I see only two ways to bring Mar-Vell back:
1. Go back in time to his fight with Nitro and make sure that the canister of nerve gas doesn't get ruptured in the fight. Sue of the Fantastic Four could be sent back and hide via her invisibility powers and put a forcefield around the canister. No nerve gas leak = no cancer.
2. Mar-Vell has stated in the past (Cosmic Powers Unlimited #1) that while he does miss being alive, that he is also resolved to being dead and firmly believes that his time is done and that he doesn't want a second chance at life (he also confirms that his last battle with Thanos in DoCM did happen). Now however, something has happened that changes his mind, thus opening the door for him to be return. I've posted on other boards in the past that there needs to be a serious cosmic menace to prompt his return and it should be a near messianic style of return. The Phoenix Force being the threat of Avengers/X_men would count as such a menace and likely could revive Mar-Vell, likely to serve as it's new host. With the inner peace and tranquility he gained from his Cosmic Awareness he could well indeed serve as a host for the Phoenix Force. Not sure if Captain Phoenix-Vell is the way to go, but if it gets him back......then again he may have to disappear into deep space to keep it contained, so then we get him back only to basically lose him again.
Guess we'll see. -
Quote:Reminds me of Blade 2 when the human that worked for the head vamp offered his hand to Blade and Blade turns it and sees the glyph and says "you're human" and the guy responds "Barely, I'm a lawyer."No, 13-19 years. Then they undergo a metamorphosis into the dreaded "teenager" stage.
Granted, a few never leave this stage. But most eventually transition onto the adult stage. Unfortunately, there's always a handful that move further along into the lawyer and politician stages. Once they hit these, they're virtually incurable. -
Quote:I think Marvel stated sometime back that they considered that idea as well.Just have an alternate universe version of Captain Marvel take over Captain Marvel's role. Enough of a difference to make him not the exact same as Captain Marvel, but close enough to make people believe he is an alternate version.
The irony is that Mar-Vell has been probably more active since his demise then when he was alive. -
Alternate universes. Excellent stories, but still alternate universes and while yes that would likely reset the trademark timer (for lack of a better name), those stories were awhile back. The most recent trademark resets would have been the Captain Marvel miniseries that starred Captain Skrull-Vell and then Marv's temporary revival in Chaos War.
-
Quote:Granted, it was likely near the trademark renewal point. Marvel must periodically release some type of series titled Captain Marvel or lose the rights and Marvel has maintained a hammerlock on the rights since they got them so that DC can't use them.Umm yeah... They have to. Copyright reasons. If they don't have him in a titular comic they lose the rights to the Marvel title which would allow DC to use it and the cut off date was coming up or something like that.
Though here is an interesting announcement from DC regarding Captain Marvel/SHAZAM. It seems that until further notice in the nuDC he will only be called SHAZAM and not Captain Marvel. DC has always been able to call him Captain Marvel within a book they just can't title a book Captain Marvel since Marvel has the rights.
An interesting coincidence.... -
Quote:Well Marvel has made other Captain Marvel characters, one was Monica Rambeau and now she's called Photon or something. Marvel then made a son of Mar-Vell but thanks to editorial stupidity his series was ended and the character soon killed off.Sorry if I stepped on toes; it was not my intention. Yes, he was a hero in his own right, but he realized that the world needed Batman more than Nightwing. The same goes for Bucky Barnes; the world needed the symbol (Captain America) more than the man (Bucky).
Plus, I like the idea of a role being passed onto future generations of heroes. It's a cleaner version of continuity than retcons and revisionism that is rampant in comics.
Marvel passed the title of Protector of the Universe to Quasar and he's back from the dead and working with the Annihilators, but he's still Mar-Vell's successor as the Protector of the Universe.
Then we had Civil War the RETURN which gave us a time warped Mar-Vell and all interviews with the staff at the time stated it was indeed Mar-Vell from the past. Then Marvel chickened out and made him into Captain Skrull-Vell......now there was a debacle.
We've had Mar-Vell's ghost appear once or twice, he was briefly revived in a backstory in Cosmic Powers Unlimited #1 where he stated he doesn't want to come back to life, he was back briefly as part of Chaos War, and we've had alternate universe versions of him the most recent of which was in THANOS IMPERATIVE.
The only thing left to do with him now is bring him back, they've done everything else and clearly they just can't make a replacement character last for long.
While I agree that the story of his death was very gripping and yes it was a very mortal death for a super hero, it also painted Marvel into a corner as for years they have been reluctant to bring him back because of how he died.
Since it's part of Avengers/X-men and judging by the cover image I suspect the Phoenix Force will be behind his return. Main question is: is it a permanent return or will they cop out again? -
Quote:Yeah, two such procs augmenting Fury would seem a bit overamped. Too bad, though. On the Beta forums some have said they've attempted this and...no dice. Apparently they're truly Unique even when Superior-lized.
Otherwise, you could 3-slot 4 powers (2 superior, 2 normal) and get +16% s/l defense, plus two chances of Fury Proccing (5 and 7). I'd say they're likely right that this is a nono...
Ah well, this set is still good for splitting amongst two powers for the S/L bonus at least. -
CAPTAIN MAR-VELL
http://comics.cosmicbooknews.com/con...maginary-story
Looks like something may happen in Avengers vs X-men that could bring Mar-Vell back? Question is: is it temporary or has Marvel finally worked up the backbone to bring him back considering how he perished?
Bucky for many years was on the officially unofficial DO NOT REVIVE list along with Mar-Vell. Bucky's return while controversial still was done rather well. Here's hoping that IF Mar-Vell is actually returning that it is also done well.
