Both SoA's (Soldiers and Widows) come with the Conditioning Inherent. This is a combination regeneration (health recovery) and recovery (endurance recovery) bonus - increasing the base numbers for the AT.
[/ QUOTE ]
are you sure about this? I thought it was +regen and an end discount for all your powers rather than +regen +recov. -

MoG is essential in PvP now.
[/ QUOTE ]
while mog IS alot more useful now, especially in zones, i wouldnt go as far as saying this. It depends on your primary, slotting and playstyle i suppose. My bs/regen doesnt have mog and will never get mog either, simply cause i cant fit it in as i have more useful (imo) powers to pick, like fear. For claws i suppose its more useful as youre generally in a fight longer than BS, and having that extra edge with mog makes a real difference. For the rest i agree with what has been said already -
What he did should be considered an exploit and griefing really. Hospitals are meant as a safe from harm zone where you can regroup, recover etc. Theres a reason why they added doors to it now compared to the old SC, because heroes that knew where they were going could divebomb past the drones into the hospital and go on a killing spree. I did that a couple of times as well, but not to grief, normally i'd try to solo 4 vills in hospital and die horribly
.
Especially if he logged in a 2nd account just to kill you over and over again (ie making it personal) it is griefing and you did right in petitioning. -
looks like that.. so thats the alternative to permacaging with the added effect you CAN attack the target now. ill/therm starting to look nastier and nastier now
. Perma-confuse, melt armor.. ouch
-
aye, Mr. Poo is quite good now with the AI change. In the past he'd just stand at the back doin nothing while he waited for hurl boulder to recharge and toss it, doing pitiful damage. Best use was to summon him right into a spawn for him to take aggro so you can use that to cast holds.
Still, earth by far isnt the most damage dealing control set, even with kin (although i'd figured getting grind to pieces by large chunks of rock would hurt).
As for the whole story you've been explaining, i'd say you did nothing wrong. It was obviously a mind troller that only knows one playstyle (mass hypno, pick off targets). However this playstyle just wasnt fitting for the team. It's a nice opener though seeing it doesnt cause aggro, and even in an AoE team my mind dom uses it. He could also use it to still sleep the ones that your aoe controls missed, as your acc aint really great at low lvls. Still, obviously he didnt know what rest of team was doing and wanted everybody to fit his playstyle. My tip is to just ignore these people. -
actually, at the moment UBH is private due to some unpleasant encounters. If you want an invite, give a shout to my global and i'll invite you.
-
heh, same here but with forcebolt
just checkin if i may have overseen something
-
heh, same here.. and its pretty hard to put together piece-by-piece, by the time i can afford it i need to respec and get the sets. If i do it piece-by-piece i'll be lacking accuracy
.
Btw ohms, you manage to get PA perma with or without the ff +rech proc? -
well, im almost always up for a TF, tbh i spend most of my game time doing TFs rather than normal missions. If you ever catch me online and want to do any TF, i most of times got a toon to join you with. Can normally poke my regular TF buddies as well.
As for regular teams, you could ask around in UBH, there are a fair few like me there that do TFs all the time when they got time. The other I know of is the OV crowd on union. Should try to approach one of their members and ask if theres a possibility to join their TFs. -

That's a pretty good summary and there's not much to add except that TP foe and force bubble can be quite effective.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed it is, however i had luck fitting most powers in already with proper slotting, wouldnt see how i could fit in tp foe in stage's build.
Which reminds me, as epic you want psi or power, psi for the extra mez protection and even more mitigation vs psi attacks. Or power mainly for powerboost. Powerboosted bubbles are ace.

For team pvp id recomend /sonic instead of /ff since def is lol in pvp.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree that generally speaking res is better than def in PvP. However i found ill/ff doesnt really suffer that weakness, because:
a) you got control to keep them from attacking you
b) with IO sets you can get a pretty nifty defense rating. On my planned build i got perma 23% def to all, even higher if i activate powerboost ofc, which i got down to 10 secs actual downtime (rech - duration).
c) PFF, being illusion primary your main skills really are "fire and forget", namely PA, spec and phantasm. If you really feel so inclined you can drop those and toggle on PFF.
Of course, its all a matter of taste in the end, and i agree that its easier to play a sonic good than it is to play a ff good, especially in team arena pvp. Doesnt mean FF will always be significantly weaker especially with the extra utility powers it has. /Sonic however DOES give you less "needed" powers imo.
And ofcourse like it has been said, FF should become alot more powerful with the acro nerf. Acro now gives mag 9 kb resist, with 2/9 being enhancable. Forcebolt has a base mag 18,7 kb.. do the math -
yup, very viable even.. though i wouldnt recommend it to the beginning PvPer. By which i mean, if you have to ask this question, you'll prolly have a hard time playing one in PvP
.
As FF you wont have any debuffs and that will be a VERY major disadvantage in PvP compared to other secondaries. The trick with FF is in duels you have to abuse your repel/knockback to corner em (as to compensate for the lack of hard control in ill). In team pvp you'll probably end up as the buffbot really. My first toon was ill/ff and i PvP with him now and then. Aint the omgwtfpwnsauce as other sets, but still pretty enjoyable.
Musthave powers (and why):
Blind - your standard hold, with extra added sleep effect and decent damage.. will be your main spamming power most of the time.
Insulation/Deflection Shield - Buff up your phantasm and teammates with it, FF is about defense, so youre silly not to get this. Also insulation shield works wonders vs end drains.
Superior Invisibility - Invis with no movement penalty and able to attack from it? Yes please!
Dispersion Bubble - Defense and mezprotection vs the most common mezzes in PvP. You need this!
Phantom Army/Phantasm - I dont need to explain myself here do I? How are you gonna do damage without these?
Detention Field - While its usefulness is debatable in PvE, its godlike in PvP. Use this to disable the enemy's buffer, or that blaster that just popped aim/bu and is charging at ya. Remember BF wont break him free from phase, so this really is the ultimate disable. Of course if you only duel, you might get away with skipping this.
Spectral Terror - Fear is rarely resisted in PvP unless there is a buffer running around spamming CM/clarity/thaw. Its tricky to use this however as it is location based and quite a few people will get the timing right to evade it altogether. Still if you use your bubbles right to get em where you want em, terror is ace at keeping them there.
Force bubble - You need this to corner targets and keep em cornered so your pets can go crazy on him. Little tip, try to get fly together with FB, if you hover a slight bit above the target rather than running against him, its harder for him to escape thanks to the sphere shape.
Hasten - You need phantom army up as much as you can, hasten is critical for that.
Not "needed" but very handy to have:
Forcebolt - Especially with the changes of acro coming up, you can use this to spam KB on your target. Keeping him on the floor most of the time. Also you can slot a forcefeedback +rech in it and it has the slight (5% iirc) chance to toggledrop.
Spectral wounds - more damage, simple as that
Deceive - Confuse is tricky in PvP, but still.. its another disable. And you can slot relatively cheap purple sets in it to get some nice setbonuses.
So far the powers.. A little tip on gameplay when you PvP with ill/ff, remember for a controller you got a serious lack of hard control. You only got a single target hold you can rely on, but that's basically it. The trick I use is abusing forcebubble and/or forcebolt to try to corner my enemy somewhere, keep him there with KB/repel while I spam holds and let my pets go to school on him. Also use detention field to take someone out of the fight for a fair while, make sure you slot it 3 acc 3 rech. You dont want it to miss, and you want it ready whenever you want it.
As for a specific build, im constantly tweaking my build as it is, so cant really post one without me changing my mind again next week. Just general advice I can give is to focus on +rech and +recov, ill/ff is pretty end heavy and you want as much rech as possible to have PA up ASAP.
Well, hopefully this post has been some help, I'm sure more will post here and probably have complete opposite views than what I have. But these are just my experiences with ill/ff and havin played it since EU release. And of course one general tip for any PvP build: know yourself, know your weaknesses.. every AT has weaknesses, make sure you minimize yours. Upon that, i'll give the comment stick to the next one who'll no doubt completely demolish my story -

I fail to see why they don't find another way to nerf procs, and leave the Poison Trap as it once was. Or at the very least increase both Aoe Vomit and Hold to 4% per second.
[/ QUOTE ]
thing is, if they did nerf this to combat something like procs or whatever, its very hard to nerf a certain exploit without nerfing regular use as well. If they'd nerf procs, there'd be more whining from other powersets that use those procs as well. Doesnt mean i agree with them nerfing it. It just hard to nerf a certain small area of exploit without some collateral damage in the process. Just a shame traps became the victim now -
duuuuuuuude! wb vDs! Glad to see ya back mate, gimme a holler next time youre on, you know how to reach me
-
wooo grats amy! now i got 2 potential people to mooch inf off
-
dammit, you pick the only sunday im gone.. classic spag, real classic
-
aye.. tanks are actually required to, well, tank in teams. So if you dont want all the aggro in a group, dont roll a tank
-
I'm down mate, you know how to reach me when im needed
-
ill/storm is quite tricky to master, as you lack alot of hard lockdown methods and proper ways to set up containment. The loads of kb/repel powers in storm also dont help in that and if you cant control it, it can turn out real messy real fast.
From what i read i'd say a scrapper would more suit you:
-dmg dealer, check
-can take a beating like a brute, check
-doesnt NEED taunt, but CAN use it, check
I lvled both a DM/SR and BS/regen, though i must say i really loved my bs/regen over the dm/sr. Low lvls dm/sr was ace, but i found at higher levels it started to lack a bit.
BS/regen however was other way around, at lower lvls its pretty slow seeing you dont have rech SOs yet, but later on its a damage powerhouse. Not to mention in abundance of a tanker he seems to do pretty well in tanking duty as well. -
date/time depending, i can bring:
bs/regen scrapper (with fly)
elec/elec blaster
you know where to find me -
aye, i'd say BS as well.. aside from the parrystacking and quickness, with /SR you can get quite a bit of +rech from IOs (presuming you got the money), which in the end will completely negate BS' slow recharges, meaning you'll become one hard hittin scrapper.
Problem is however, that your blue bar will probably hate you -
for pvp: katana as DB lacks the burst damage, for PvE i'd say DB has more AoE potential so might be better then.

Bot/psn - few EB's, support on AV
[/ QUOTE ]
i'd say bot/psn is perfectly capable of soloing AVs at AV-level. Thusfar I've soloed every AV in the game (lvl 43 atm, so AVs up till the 40-45 content) with fair ease. Of course it all depends on builds/playstyle. But i would say bot/psn is a pretty good combo to take em down, together with aforementioned bots/dark.
[/ QUOTE ]i think you find myxn will turn ur tin cans into scrap metal, as he regen is off the scale and she seem to have a one hit kill
[/ QUOTE ]
done mynx solo, no probs at all.. the only 2 AVs that were somewhat of a challenge were infernal (fire dmg vs bots = nasty) and lillitu. I even soloed Ghost of Scrapyard with my build many moons ago. Mind I dont try to keep all my bots alive, vs AVs i use my drones as cannon fodder basically. Also I never ever use bodyguard (used to playing MM when bodyguard wasnt implemented yet) so maybe that has something to do with it.
Thing is, your playstyle needs to be adapted to it, you cant expect to just stand there and blast away (like most MMs i find do). A pro-active, aggressive, way of playing gets ya a long way. -
