I'll second (third) the request that they put up a lighthouse in your honor somewhere along the Rogue Islands and Paragon City coasts. Least they could do after all your hard work for the game as a whole, and this community in particular.

Happy trails, Alex. Ya done good here.

I think that the lighthouse should

Work (i.e. have a spinning shining light, that is visibly brighter at night)

Excellent idea combining an homage to a very nice, competent and helpful member of this game with a fun way to attract more people to the forums.

But most importantly, having competition pushes us to look at our own game and see how we can improve City of Heroes and stay competitive. You’re going to see a lot more features that we thought we’d never be able implement over the next year or so

And yay for the new badge UI !
  6. OMG !!! I was born on the same day as Blue Steel...?
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Well luckily, it's also the start of the double xp week-end, that should compensate....Thanks (in advance) for the birthday present!!
  7. Wow, this thread keeps getting better and better !
To the OP, great job, this is one of the funniest thread ever...
  8. From the Paragon Times article :

Heroes without technological shielding, such as hazard suits or fully-enclosed environmental suits, or without some other magical or super-powered resistance to infection, are cautioned to stay away.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do I read new craftable zone-specific temp powers? (Like the vanguard goodies you get in the RWZ, but working as a toggle like the new Halloween costumes ?)
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Just because you don't look forward to new costumes doesn't mean someone else out there isn't coming back to CoH for I8 just because of them. A lot of people wrote off Issue 4's costume pieces because of personal prejudice. It just comes off as people trying to claim they know what everyone wants.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think anybody is complaining about getting new costume pieces in a new Issue. It just feels a bit disappointing that after getting someone whose principal focus is creating costume pieces (Sexy Jay) and 100+ pages of new costume ideas, we only get a couple of new pieces. (Nowhere near the amount we got in I4).
Also, I8 taking now as much time as I7 to get to live, it feels wrong that it took as much time to design 10 levels of content for the 15 to 25 range as it took for the 40 to 50 range. Remember, it takes way more content (missions, contacts and simply put xp) to go from 40 to 50 than 15 to 25.
And while people may be unhappy about them, the PPPs were really offering new cool-looking powers. I8 doesn't have any of that.
So, what is taking so much time ?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I suspect we'll never know. This qualifies largely as a rant, since I don't really expect devs to post about their staffing configurations or comment on this. I mean, it's obviously been cause for concern since I7 went really, really long... and yet, about the only comment was, "8 months? I sure hope it isn't that long" from a dev regarding I8.

Anyhow, I don't want to sound completely unhappy. I continue to enjoy the game a lot. Given the hours I spend playing, the $24/month for the two accounts is a blip. But there is this vague feeling of staleness that creeps over it when the updates take so long (I7, I8) or feel anemically lacking on content (I4, for example; which was pretty much only PvP, which quickly manifested so many problems that took a while to fix that it didn't even feel to me like it added anything, even though today I *like* PvP quite a bit). I guess I just want to know what happened to the robust feeling of the updates from the first 9 months or so. Did CoV cause the slow up? And if so, does abandoning plans for more boxed expansions mean the update schedule will begin to look like it's robust former self, or after all the years of development and the 2.5 years of being live, is Cryptic just starting to siphon off resources from the game to plan for End-of-Lifing it in favor of future projects?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your post is definitely not a rant. It's actually very well put together and very constructive. The only sad part is that you are completely right on all your points.
I think it's important the development team sees such posts, because they come from people who actually care about this game. There are way too many things happening right now around cryptic at the same time (Marvel mmo announcement, I8 release delayed from september to end of November and perceived as "light", devs leaving) for us, long time fans, to feel very confident. Let's hope it's just a temporary lack of ressources.(their job offer list is still impressive...)
  11. I chose "storyline" because we could always use more.
Since everybody is listing their favorite aspect of COx, I'll say that mine is definitely Powersets.
The following combo : powersets-costumes-sidekicking-story arcs is what makes COx the best and most different mmo out there.

The 'hero' was just a lt in a cool costume. Not a boss, not an eb, not a hero, a bloody LT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I played with the "vicious" setting and it spawned some bosses. I think my hero was boss. What setting were you playing on?
  13. A couple of remarks :

    * AWESOME. Pure fun and real feel of villainy. COV just got greater.
*You don't need an AGEIA GPU to see letters fly from a destroyed mailbox (example). It seems the AGEIA GPU only adds to the count of items explosions produce.(There's a slider in the video options that allows you to up the count if you have such a GPU)

Question : you get extra time for defeating the police. I noticed that if you run past them and escape them, without defeating them, you get the bonus time as well. Was this intended or is it a bug ?

Other than that : WOW. Heroes definitely need an equivalent to this...

  14. Bad news for us....the successor better behave...or not !

According to the winner, the CCG developers added Blood of the Black Stream to his entry.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well.. I'm guessing that "egyptian villain group" That Statesman "kinda" confirmed was in the works if related, it not the same, as the Blood eh?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly what I was thinking. Interesting way to give us tiny elements of information by a non-cryptic team.
By the way, the winning origin is very nice indeed. A very smart revamp of Odin's destroyer !
Congratulations, your win was well deserved.
  17. Great and thx for the info!
Now if you could just give us a bit more info on the collector's edition, that would be awesome!
We know that it should come with the heroclix figures but other questions remain, like will the game be on CD or DVD? Any chance that the Collector's Edition gets all 4 helmets...?
  18. - What are your favorite (Be it COH related or not) :

    * comic book (issue or story-arc)
    * super hero
    * super villain?

    - Is there one or more of these that really inspired you and continue to do so?

Thanks again for the excellent work

o_O I'm going to go check 'cause thats WAY good news for me if it's true

Yeah, that's what I thought too...until I saw no difference on Test....
Getting zookeeper was a very nice surprise though
  20. -New badges are beautiful. Congratulations again to the artists who get better with each issue. Way to go !
-People stop complaining about the 1 billion badges, please !
The game is meant to be played for more than a couple of months. People are unhappy because they would like to get the badges in a day or so. The highest badges are meant to be gained after weeks of gameplay. The difficulty is exponential. The numbers are only normal imho...If the numbers are lowered, players will be crying for new badges in a month. Low challenge = low satisfaction when u get them.
    - I agree that new tabs would be welcome. As well as grouping explo badges by zone. That would be awesome. Someone mentioned to give them a different color for each zone. Awesome idea!
    - I can't wait to get the new accolade! (Hopefully it is implemented at I5 launch)
    - Talking about accolade, I always thought that having a "mission-badge" as a requirement was somehow unfortunate. Now that the Hollows, Striga and croatoa are live (or soon will be) it is more than likely that your character misses the missions in the earlier zones (like steel or skyway). So you end up not getting the "spelunker" badge, for example, because you are playing the new zones, and thus, you don't get the atlas accolade. Your only chance is to spam for the "fortune teller" mission and exemplar for it. Not really glamourous. Hopefully, the "flashback" will eventually make it some day and this problem will be resolved.

    [ QUOTE ]
the monkey and illusionist badges are reduced in requirement. Really Awesome.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I just copied my lvl 50 blaster to test and I can confirm that the zookeeper badge has seen its requirements drastically lowered ( probably more than a tenth of the former numbers required). HOWEVER , I didn't see any difference in my illusionist badge that stayed at approximately 60%, exactly like on live....
Did anybody actually see a reduction for the illusionist badge ?
For now, I'll consider the rumor as false.
