Well, as others have already gone the "Why pre-built" route, I'll throw out a vendor that I went with for a laptop a while ago that seemed to have some nice prebuilt desktop options. It was through IBuyPower.com
The laptop I got through them was quite beefy (for the time) with gaming in mind, and it worked quite well overall. It was a bit less than other places (Mainly Alienware) in price while matching specs. -
Except your chem rounds have no similarity to the way the actual chem rounds work. They don't inflict -Resist as your states, but instead -Damage.
<_<
>_>
So, close but no cigar. -
Quote:Speed Boost has NO effect on the ability to do Speed Runs, so I definitely concur with Castle on getting Inertial Reduction.Instead of Speed Boost, have your friendly Kineticist cast Inertial Reduction instead. I find that makes a bigger difference than Speed Boost. Combat Jumping is the single best power you can have for this, of course. The Ninja Run power ought to be pretty handy for this, too, though I've not specifically tested it.
Reason why I know that Speed Boost does nothing. I've gotten gold on both runs via Walk, and Internal Reduction. -
On topic, with such irrefutable proof I can not argue against the obviousness that blueside is in fact dead. -
Again, you're not L-Rodding close enough to the enemies to get the full (third) tick of damage.

Quote:Heh, well each to their own I always say myself. But you are quite right about fuel for the rumor mill. That's probably true, but you have to admit, some of those mis-tells are EPIC.
They can fuel the rumor mill for months after.
I'll never forget the one where an MM was describing how she used her robots' "attachments" on her partner... I'm sorry, but there's just some places high speed rotory action should NOT be applied.
And that one was dropped in broadcast, too. -
Quote:You know, the horror stories are just that to be honest. I play on Virtue, and, I have not once ran into a situation where the public based RP has gone into the "adult" realm. Perhaps more than PG13, as there are a number of people that will swear and such. This is a point that seems to be missed somewhere between the EU and the US. I hear "horror stories" about public RP on the US servers quite a bit, really, but I have never witnessed anything like it on Union. If you go into Union Pocket D, odds are you'll find some people around the blue-side bar drinking and chatting. If you go to Galaxy Girl statue after 9.00 UK time, you'll find a some people hanging around, chatting. That's pretty much it, ignoring things like people being Tools and trying to screw things up for everyone else.
Yes, "Adult" RP does happen, but every roleplayer I've encountered on Union has been mature enough to understand that people really don't do that stuff in public, so they take it to SG bases, mission maps and the like. Places where they won't be inflicting the (potentially) graphic nature of the RP on the general public.
Thus, when in public, the general consensus amongst the RPers that I have personally had dealings with (and bearing in mind that I am one myself) is "live and let live". As long as people don't try to spoil our fun, we are happy to let them have theirs. We (yeah, okay, pretty sweeping statement, here) don't intentionally interfere, and we don't break beyond PG13. On at least one public chat channel for RPers I even know there is a moderated "Watershed" before which swearing is not tolerated.
Anyone who has experienced differently is either in locations that are not commonly used for public RP or are on a server that is not Union, and I refuse to be tarred by the same brush as others who have no regard for their fellow players.
However, an explicit scene that continues in local? I have not seen it yet. I have been on Virtue for about three years now straight, prior to that I was on various breaks and I originally started on Guardian. Now, there are two things that I have seen happen, a) Mistell into public (either broadcast or local) followed by the group heading to a different zone, or logging all together but the scene did not continue and b) Griefers assuming that a group is undertaking ERP, start saying so in broadcast, or even global channels without any proof of it actually happening.
Situation B has actually happened to me once, I laughed about it as the person who was griefing us was talking about in one of the globals I'm in, and I defended myself without the person even knowing I was part of that group. None of us reacted to him, and eventually he got bored. I sometimes wonder if the horror stories about explicit scenes being RP'd publicly are instead fabricated stories that arrive from situations like this. I've even gone to 'investigate' such situations, to see if there are people that really do explicit scenes in public channels, and every single time I find that it's a griefer (or two) making it all up solely because the group in question is RP'ing in team, and say "MRP" or "All RP" tags in their bio which could mean anything. Such as taking characters who would swear excessively out of public channels, since public channels are supposed to be PG13 after all.
At this point, I think I've started to ramble, but I'll shuddup nowJust felt that I should relay my own experience with regards to the US RP Server.

Quote:Only watched this one so far, and I am very impressed. Especially since it was Ice/ doing this, but perhaps I am underestimating the set as I never could get into it.Luminary took just under 17 minutes. It took 2 tries and I'm blaming my first failed attempt with Lum on Hack N Slash as he started chatting me up towards the end of the fight

Quote:If I remember correctly, Fissure is set to the same Damage Scalar that Fireball is (without the DoT of course). Or at least near Fireball damage.I start where I left off the previous night and fairly quickly hit 38 and Fissure. It's an interesting power. Very, very short range and small AoE with small damage. I estimate with slotting it will slightly out-damage Stone Spears. Oh well, I still occasionally use Stone Spears to take off slivers left by my SMASH attacks, and I suspect a fast AoE version of that will be useful. If it wasn't for Seismic Smash I suspect I would be very disappointed, but that power kind of makes up for a poor last two picks.

Quote:Sprint doesn't suppress, Ninja Run does suppress.That... Ninja Run is incredibly unfair, especially for a power we get at level one. It's twice the speed of Sprint, gives a massive jump height bonus (500% and over) and just gives owners of this pack a HUGE advantage. And I'm saying this as someone who has it. Why even use Sprint at all now?
I thought Ninja Run might replace Combat Jumping, but nope, the Jump boost suppresses in combat as well.
People with Ninja Run do not have a huge advantage over those that choose to take Travel Powers. They only have a slight advantage over those that choose NOT to take a Travel Power. -
Quote:And this is a perfect post example of why I call this mechanic counter-intuitiveI don't know that this isn't a bug since it also happens occasionally while zoning in and out of the new zone. From what I observed, it appears random, takes down two random toggles, and has no obvious effects to go with it. To misquote Dan Rather, "If it walks like a bug and quacks like a bug..."
The event itself is a lot of fun. Seems like the reward is enough to keep people interested. I also like the mix-up of multiple GMs that have to be fought. The new zone is nice, but the two entry points (Magical Portal and Lord of Winter's Realm) are a bit confusing.
The addition of a respec purchaseable with Candy Canes is a nice touch and the new emote is cute. I did notice that the temp powers were showing up twice on the crafting list, one alone and once with the corresponding badge. Was that intentional?
I like the new event but hope the toggle drop issue is either corrected (if a bug) or given a more noticeable effect (if an intentional part of the fight). From how often it happened, and it was -always- two toggles that dropped for me, I do not think it was a bug and it's an intentional part of one of Lord Winter's attacks. Which one, I have no clue. I never saw anything hit me when I would lose two toggles.
-
Afraid not, my villain team took down Winterlord, went into the realm, killed two guardians but we were booted out before we could finish of Lord Winter, and we got bupkiss for it all.
-
Got on a team of six villains that was able to spawn the Winterlord and promptly killed him. However, we did not get a way point nor a marker on the map for where the giant present was located, thankfully it spawned right where the Winterlord was where we then waited for the Giant Present to allow us to enter the realm. We had asked for backup over the global channel, and didn't get any. Once the giant present let us enter, we were able to fight Lord Winter.
There was no indication of this zone being a timer at all, so if it is supposed to have a timer please add it. With just the six of us we managed to get Lord Winter down to 48% life or so, had to kill two of the Winter Guardian's to unphase Lord Winter. At that point, we got a warning to please exit the zone, and two minutes later it kicked us all out on our butts with nothing to show for really. If this zone is not supposed to have a timer then whatever kicked us out needs to be fixed
I would like to comment that I was playing as a DB/WP Brute, and thanks to Brad's bubbles, I was sitting at the Cold Defense cap. As such, Lord Winter spent the majority of his time whiffing as he tried to attack me. I understand the goal was to make him challenging, however I found the mag 100 Hold (ala Ghost Widow), and whatever it is he used that causes TWO toggles to detoggle immensely annoying without being the slightest bit life threatening though that might just be due to the secondary I was playing (Yes, I am IO'd, no I am not uber-IO'd, I went concept and stacked a bunch of +RunSpeeds, I do not have masses of +def or anything that would increase my survivability above that of base-line Will Power).
Since powers that trigger detoggles have been removed from the game some time ago, this new Lord Winter having this mechanic is incredibly counter-intuitive, when I saw someone ask in team why his toggles dropped, I looked at mine, and that's when I noticed I was missing two as well. (Mind Over Body, and Indom Will) I quickly mentioned to the team what was going on of course. I then spent the rest of the fight paying more attention to my toggles on my hot bar, than what was going on the screen itself when Brad had mentioned that we weren't doing damage to him anymore. Turns out the Northern Lights are buffing the Lord Winter, so I kept Lord Winter's attention while the rest of the team would take care of the North Lights. Which amounted to me watching my toggles, and retoggling them while keeping up with my DPS so his attention remained focused on me.
Overall I found the detoggle ability annoying and counter-intuitive mechanic, not challenging in the slightest. The Northern Lights, however, are a nice touch, it keeps the team on their toes, and gives an importance to holding the Lord Winter's aggro so the rest of the team can mop them up. -
Quote:ZM, I do really have the utmost respect for you, and that's why I suggested Pipesqueek to post here. These programs are running in the background: 2 antivirus programs (!!), Yahoo, itunes, web cam, skype, msmessenger, walmart (?!), quicktime, windows update, nVidia 'helper' programs, et al.
I'm surprised you were able to play the game at all previously.
You've let too much invasiveware infect your start-up registries. Any one of them, or a combination of them might be the cause. Also, you've used up 4/5 of a 116 Gig Hard Drive, so, I'm guessing the .dlls are a mess, too.
Also, your graphics card is a generation too old and 4 levels of sophistication too low to really run a intensive 3-D game (it should be a nVidia 6600 or better). That you were able to run CoH at all in the past is remarkable.
So, you need to deep clean your computer:
1. Make sure you have a Windows reboot and install disk.
2. Back up all your data.
3. Reformat your hard drive.
4. Reinstall Windows, and update it. Update all drivers.
5. Reinstall your applications and run HijackThis after each one to see who's intruding into your start up registry.
6. Reinstall your data.
If that doesn't get CoH up and running, then you need a new Graphics Card.
But.. It's not the video card. The issue is "Lost connection to mapserver", it affects multiple computers besides the one see here. One of those computers works on other networks, but not when directly into the modem (This is information I just recently found out). I am hoping that this time with Pipesqueek contacting their ISP and requesting a supervisor that this issue will finally get sorted out. -
PipeSqueek forgot to mention a couple of things.
We've bypassed the routers, directly into the modem and it still has problems.
This is affecting multiple computers (3 to be exact), and it also affects MSN Messenger (But not MSN Web Messenger, go figure).
Have contacted the ISP Hughesnet who said it's not their issue, and that it's probably a proxy issue. Went to Internet Options > Connection Tab > LAN Settings, no proxy settings there, and I don't know where else a proxy might be set up, so this sounds fishy to me. -
Quote:Funny you say that, my Earth/Fire/Water Dom is Stamina-less, and has no issues with endurance at all anymore. Granted, I did respec into this build after taking Stamina at 20 to level up with, but once it was time to IO her, I didn't need it anymore.Seems like it should do fine. Earth has so many nice control options and I think you've caught the best. Perma is nice but not necessary, especially on an earthie. The only changes I would make is to find a way to get stamina at 20 (personal preference). Doms are much more fun with some endurance. And I agree with Spikey...I would have taken water spout. It's a great power.

Just came in here to post, as I was to be the co-host for Dispari's costume contest today, she's informed me that she will be postponing the event until next week due to the 2x Exp weekend.

[ QUOTE ]
Cims have extra stun protection from their shields and from the boss's [Shout of Command]. I suspect that is what happened there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps the former is the case, but they definitely weren't buffed by the shout because I hadn't damaged them to that extreme yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
The way the Cims protection functions, is an AoE about themselves that protects OTHERS not themselves.
So, when the Cims are all herded up, and gathered together they are practically immune to controls (besides Fear and Confusion). However, if you scatter them up they will become 'standard' protection for their rank.
So, two minions standing next to each other won't get stunned by a mag 3 AoE Stun. But soon as they are no longer next to each other, they will be stunned.
I should also mention that this only applies when they have their shields out, so the Surgeons who never have shields do not provide this benefit. -
[ QUOTE ]
But don't some procs have a greater chance to go off than just 10%?
[/ QUOTE ]
None of the Damage procs in this game are as low as 10% >_>
ToD is 15%, then most procs are 20% and some (Purples, and apparently PvP IO's in PvP) are 33%. -
[ QUOTE ]
how would it stack to mag 23, according to mids it has 6 holds at 10 sec intervals with base duration of 7.5 seconds, that with holds slotted would only be mag 6 for a little under 5 seconds on and then 5 seconds at mag 3.
Let me know what I'm missing.
Also does it benefit from domination since it's a summon?
[/ QUOTE ]
It does NOT benefit from Domination.
What it does it creates pets every 10s that then have multiple AoE hold attacks that do the actual holds. -
Yes, it will stack.
Yes, it can hold Lts and lower for that long, provided the accuracy is good enough.
