  1. Aww, here I was hoping this would be a speculation thread about possible new Epic ATs in Going Rogue...

You're level 6. Turn off sprint.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But... But... I like to run fast!

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're level 6 - that ain't happening whether you have Sprint on or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Oh, really?
  3. I agree with the subject line.

    Padding post count.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's unfair to those who earn their post counts honestly. Without farming threads for posts.

    For example:
    Moderator_0U812
    Arcanavillage
    Bad_Influence
    Chieta_Cops
    Johnny_Putane
    _Ultimoses_
    and so many more...

All these (possibly fictional) posters only post to pour out their hearts and souls into making this a better game, nay a better world, for all of us.
For shame, padding post counts and trivializing the honestly earned post counts of these noble, selfless (possibly fictional) people!

    +1

everyone should have only one character

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought you were suggesting that everyone should literally share one single character. That would actually make more sense. City of Hero would no longer have name collisions, because there would only be one name. City of Hero would no longer have outlier performance, because by definition everyone would have exactly median performance. And powerset balance becomes largely moot. PL would also become a moot point quickly enough.

The level of discourse on the forums would also significantly improve. No more PvP arguments. No more build arguments. No more "role" arguments. No more powerset proliferation demands. No more "devs hate villains" conspiracy theories (they'd be replaced by "devs hate the only character that exists" theories).

It would start to give the game a bit of a LaMOE feel, and I think the day job badges would become largely out of the question, but that's a small price to pay.

Letting everyone have at least one, much less two characters of their own opens the door to a lot of problems. Its really a half-measure at best.

    Carp Melee?

For a second, I thought I read crap melee.

  8. 250 inf is just not worth making the run to the vendor. Sometimes you just gotta clear your inventory.

    My turn at last

    [ QUOTE ]
I consider myself a fairly casual gamer. I play quite a bit (maybe 15 hours per week on average), but on most toons, I don't play the market or farm. I do quite a few task forces though, since I'm fond of them. Generally, by the time I get to level 10, I have between 100 and 150 million on a toon. Some I actually use it to buy set IOs, and others I just stick with generic IOs and SOs, and funnel the money to another toon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, you're either a liar, an exploiter, or turn your xp off when you hit level 10 until you have between 100 and 150 million.
  10. Yeah, all sorts of weird bugs have been showing up for a lot of people since I14 dropped. Keep filing those bug reports and stuff will eventually get fixed. I swear there was a bug that was happening to my account that cut the MA ticket drop rate to nearly nothing. Funny thing was the last patch fixed it, so the ticket nerf actually led to my getting about 10x the tickets I did for a few days before it.
  11. It effectively spawns for the phantom 9th person.
  12. No reason not to keep them around. I have dozens of characters that I haven't logged onto in years, but still exist.

Not too long ago I randomly logged into one that I had at around level 20 and spent a lot of time playing, and had a blast with it. I only delete anything if I need the space for a new concept that digs its way into my brain.

Btw, I'm fairly certain that you're going to end up being yet another altoholic, and I tell you, this is absolutely the right game for you.

The date I find in searching is April 27, 2004. However, I believe this is just the date when the box was released for pre-orders. Players who pre-ordered were allowed to get into the open beta for the final battle with the Rikti before the Live release which was a couple of weeks later, May 8, 2004, IIRC. The anniversary celebrates the Live release.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Commercial release was April 28th - Don't know when the beta for preorders was, but the pre-release started on the 25, IIRC.

    You do indeed recall correctly.

    Copying the Freedom server's database?

    Who plays on Freedom? Sheesh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are many good players on Freedom, and they are as good as all four of the good players on your server.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You know the biggest problem with saying that?

I play on *all* servers. Freedom's one of the least *common* for me, but I'm everywhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, all of us Type-R players are multiserver entities.

I wonder what this expansion will break.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can't be any worse than the bugs they apparently got in I14 beta. I heard at one point they managed to break levelling entirely - you'd go to a trainer to get new powers and stuff and it simply wouldn't let you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This bug made it live, and way before I14. I have a bunch of characters that I can't get new powers for. Worst part is they're stuck 1 xp away from the next level and nothing I do seems to get me that xp...

They are just as tiny, they are relentless, they come out of the woodwork from every direction and they spawn in droves. They are irritating little brats to say the least.

I just did the mission after the Wailer Lord where you save the 4 Mu Magii. My god, just as you clear an area 6 more would spawn on top of you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Love wailers. Hate that mission.

As a quick test with a stereotypical phrase: Your villain takes candy from a baby.

If this mostly makes them smile because the baby doesn't have candy, is crying, and making other people miserable; villain is Type A.

If this mostly makes them smile because hey, they've got candy now, candy is great stuff and they didn't even have to work to get it; villain is Type B.

Note that there are other sorts of motivation categories that would be classed as villains by CoH that aren't concerned with being "really bad" as the OP was asking about.

The biggest one is probably the "overthrow some level of current society to reforge it in a manner they feel is an improvement" class; we'll call that Type C.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've always been fond of Type D. The kind of villain that takes the candy, throws it away, and eats the baby because babies are delicious.
  18. And I knew it would be effective, I mean willpower is just an all around cool set, particularly with large numbers of baddies, and though I'd never actually played spines before I knew it was an AoE based set. So I figured, okay, cool, this should be efficient...

But nobody warned me how frakin' fun it would be. The pulsing sound of Quills hitting everything around me; the explosion niftiness of Spine Burst; the jumping spinny knockdowny awesomeness of the Ripper animation. I think maybe spines has spoiled the other scrapper sets for me, since so far none of them have come near the fun factor of the spines.

Just had an overwhelming urge to come tell people how much fun I'm having. That is all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!

    Is that better?
  20. [ QUOTE ]

I think devs can control this run-away high price costs by making everything available at the vendors, that is inspirations, salvage and recipes. We already have a minimum price for these at the vendor, so why not have them sell the stuff as well but at a regulated price, say ten times the price the would pay to buy them from you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um, you realize that they basically just did this with the MA, right? Tickets flow like water, and nothing is really all that expensive. I contend that once everyone realizes this very obvious, very simple truth, the MA will have completely fixed all of the game's economic problems.

I think it was brilliant; use the mindset of the farmers to fix all of the problems that farmers had previously caused.
  21. People stopped getting salvage for a while because the cooler recipes suddenly became easier to get, causing the prices on salvage to skyrocket since the availability dropped temporarily. This has been changing over the last couple of days, with rare salvage being cheaper than ever and common salvage is beginning to stabilize. At the same time, most of the more expensive common salvage will drop to a lower price than it was before MA.

The architect will, in the long run, stabilize the market and cause prices to be lower and more accessible to the casual player.
  22. I don't know why we still don't have this. It's the best idea ever ever ever to ever ever exist ever.

    Ever.
  23. My greatest hopes and dreams for the MA are:

<ul type="square">[*]Better searching options.[*]More hospital maps[*]Access to some of the more common regular mob power sets (pistols and rocks would be awesome to start)[*]The ability to tint the colors on existing mobs (I need to have a mission full of hot pink snowmen at some point or my head will asplode)[*]More ways to get more story arc slots. I'd be willing to pay.[/list]
  24. I routinely spend an hour doing stuff in the MA and then just blow all my tickets on salvage that I throw up for 10 inf, regardless of what it is. That ends up being a hundred or so pieces of salvage that's added to the supply. What are you doing to fix the problem?

This is not the devs' fault. This is not even the player base's fault. If you have a problem with how things are, it's your fault. That's right, yours personally. Everything except purple sets is easier than ever to get now, and anyone who is having issues with it needs to learn how to play or be forever upset.

I'm beginning to get sick of people whining about the economy and doing nothing to fix it. IRL and in game.

The governing body doesn't need to fix the economy; people just need to stop being so greedy and stupid.
