The only advantage brutes retained is in the higher resistance caps and higher HP (more HP gives defense based sets an advantage)

Also, in short fights, like you would find on a lot of teams, scrappers have a slight advantage because they don't have a fury bar to fill. They will do good damage from the very start of a fight, while a brute has to build up into doing good damage.

So, nowadays it's pretty much a wash and more of a case of which playstyle you prefer.

    Me? I like them both.
*sigh* Okay. In that case, I'd like to see a Scrapper be more fun than my Brute. For me? It's not. Too squishy. Sure, it'd play like a Brute, but it'd die a whole lot easier.

Still, both should be more or less as good to solo content. On a scrapper, you'll spend a bit more inf for protection, while on a brute it's for even better recharge (for damage.)
I seriously doubt a Dark/Dark scrapper will outdamage my Dark/Dark brute when he gets the current max Fury. I mean it, too.

    None of those are sexist.

Just saying. Also sexism is usually a one way road.

Keep it to one thread please.

    I agree, Mr_Frost.

Stun Rifle: Your standard issue Stun Rifle can fire a cluster of rubber pellets at high velocity. These do minor damage and have a small chance to stun the target. (Ranged, ST, Damage: Minor, Recharge: Fast)

    Tier 1 Pets: Police Officers
You radio in up to three Police Officers to your location. These Officers are equipped to handle basic situations, armed with pistols and billy clubs.
    Pistols (basic one-shot pistol clone)
    Billy Club (basic melee clone)

Takedown Slug: Your Stun Rifle can fire a heavy rubber slug at your enemies, occasionally knocking them off their feet. (Ranged, ST, Damage: Moderate, Recharge: Moderate)

Riot Equipment: You upgrade your squad with gear fit for Riot situations.
    Adds:
Police Officers: Flashbang, Adrena-Pack (Minor self heal) Quick Shots (Three shots from pistol, moderate 3-tick DoT)
SWAT Officers: Riot Shield (+Defense to Self, +Minor Defense to team/MM), Empty Clip (Fires 9 rounds from pistol, high DoT)
Containment Officer: Rifle Butt (Heavy Damage), Buckshot

Sapper Grenade: Your Stun Rifle can fire a high-capacity electric canister, or as the boys at the precinct call it, a Sapper Grenade. (Moderate DoT, Energy, Slow Recharge, Targeted AoE)

    Tier 2 Pets: SWAT Officers
You radio in up to two SWAT officers to your location. These heavily armed specialists are ready for anything, and have specialized armaments.
    Quick Shots
    Pistols

Lethal Force: You authorize one of your officers to use Lethal Force to take down your suspect. (Single henchman buff, long recharge)
    Effects: +Dam, +Acc, +Rec, +Reg, +Rech

    Tier 3 Pet: Containment Officer
You radio in one Containment Officer. This officer is an expert in the field of apprehension, rigorously trained in heavy arms, and equipped with the best equipment money can buy.
    Heavy Burst
    Takedown Slug

State of Emergency Upgrade: You declare a State of Emergency, and equip your squad to handle anything that comes their way.
    Adds:
Police Officers: Auto Pistol (Cone, Moderate DoT), Sapper Grenade (Energy DoT, targeted AoE)
SWAT Officers: Heavy Auto Pistol (Cone, High DoT), Riot Shield Bash (Melee Cone, High Damage)
Containment Officer: Full Auto, Satchel Charge (Targeted AoE, High Damage), Flamethrower

    Thoughts?

We can't because people would do this or that...whatever just make the game I pay for more fun... pretty simple! I'm getting pretty sick and tired of all the Nerf's, Lag, and Buggs in this game. Now we are supposed to pay for a dance and sport emote pack...good lord did someone from the government mule get a job with NCsoft? Also, dumb people are dumb people, the Dev's are why we can't seem to get better stuff!
    Angry post is angry. o_O

Look, I remember pretty specifically this exact discussion around the time I started. I can't look up the redname who said/agreed with it, but that was what I heard and it was agreed that dumb people are the issue. Things have changed, this I know. Just voicing what I remember. Calm yourself, sparky.
  8. Fire, with all shields and Temperature Protection will cap Fire Resist at 90. Same thing with Elec and Grounded; caps out 90 in Energy.
  9. This post has convinced me to play my KM/Regen stalker more than I do now.

On the Question about Blind's sleep component . . . There are no indications that there have been any changes to the power. If it seems to be happening more, it may be that you are getting foes to bunch up more closely, or maybe you are noticing it more.

I have noticed it happening a few times lately, but I'm not sure it is more frequent. My main Ill/Rad has been my favorite to earn Hero Merits, so I have been running him through a number of Tip missions.
My favorite thing is firing Blind into a tightly clustered group of enemies and watching one or two suddenly zonk out with the face-explodey animation of Blind.

Claws is out. Stone or Dark... They both have great mitigation, but in different ways. Dark is better for end management. Stone has better burst, dark has better dps I think. Looking at mids and the activation times for stone don't seem as bad as I remember them, actually pretty good...
My Elec/Invul is pretty high on damage. Not the best, but high, especially when Fury gets going. Good AoE too. Dark will give you some fantastic single target output, and good multi-target if you get good with arranging yourself for Shadow Maul's cone. As a strong advocate of Dark, I'll recommend that over Stone, especially for the heal, fear, -ToHit and +End.

I spent... 25 mil on my Elec/Invul for defenses. 5 million for common IO's and 20 million on the 3% Global Defense IO. He's unstoppable. You don't need billions of inf, just one well placed unique.
  13. It's a real pity you don't want ElM; it rocks with Invul. Click the link in my sig for my info on Dark Melee. Try it with Invul and love it, the entire set rocks.
  14. I rolled up a Claws/SR brute the other day. Hit 13 in a matter of two hours, not counting time spent reading my story arcs.

    It's like playing a forcefield-coated rotary saw.
  15. Illu/Kin/Primal was my first (sorta) 50. With the new Recharge Intensive Pet sets, Siphon Speed and Hasten, my Phantom Armies are about 40 seconds apart. It's gorgeous.

    Static Field

Again, a friend and I have two Elec/Rad trollers. We pull entire missions in thirds (first third, mid third, end third) and while they don't hit us/never have endurance, it takes up to 30 minutes to drop each spawn.

It's not a fast solo, dude. Elec takes forever to kill things regardless of how many people you have locked down.

  20. Hate to come back with my tail between my legs, but the crashing is back; and it's only on teams now. The moment I enter a mission with a team over 4 people, I get an Assertion Failure/freeze and the game quits. Manga, I'll have my version number to you on my next work break.

Not with the new Female Clockwork it's not. You underestimate the power of stupidity. How long would it take for RoboPimp or Cyberdaddy to appear?
  23. Another nice option for AoE would be Dual Blades coupled with Fire/Will/SR, based on AoE alone. Like any set in the game, get past 20 and you'll be fine.
  24. When did Illusion get 5 Phantoms in Phantom Army?

What is the POINT of going Dark? Why should the OP bother? He asked for the absolute best of the best, and you are not giving him that. As far as I can tell, you are just trying to defend your favorite set and troll, rather then actually answer the OP's question.

As for the aggro thing, APP's are laughable as an option. Yeah, let's wait 41 levels before we get a real AoE. Fantastic. As for secondaries, it's going to vary. Sets like SR don't get an aggro aura till 20, Inv not till 26. Pairing those sets up with a primary that has no AoE is just not a smart idea.
He asked for the best, and in my opinion, Dark is the best so long as you know what you're doing, or learn that fast. All you're doing is refusing to believe that people play Dark Melee by plugging your ears and going "NO NO NO YOU'RE WRONG I AM RIGHT LALALALALA." I've put out more damage and held more aggro with my Dark/Dark than any other brute I've played. That's my opinion. OPINION. I'm not stating it as fact. All you're doing now is trying to pin me as a fool and make yourself look like a king. All you've succeeded in doing is looking like the label you place on anyone who disagrees with your oh-so-high-and-mighty opinion: a troll.

If you want to get aggro take taunt - its a good control power and since it drops range it can keep those controllers out of the line of fire.
I mentioned that earlier, thank you. Candle just chose to selectively ignore the points I'm making to bolster his own argument and expertly diverted the thread. Not only does Taunt provide good aggro IN THIS SITUATION (<--read that one carefully), player-to-player communication works even better. If the brute takes a few extra moments to get aggro and then say "Okay, you're clear to open fire" then things will go much smoother. Aside from Dark Melee not being a piece of crap as per Candlestick's misinformed opinion, that was the point I was attempting to make. If aggro is a concern, take Taunt and any other effective measures to manage it, including but not limited to an AoE-based set or a secondary with a strong taunt aura.
