Quote:Not quite-- the Rangers have that incredibly detailed chest piece with the antennae on the back.So let me get this straight, of ALL the IDF enemies, including Seers, Heavy Troopers, Commanders etc.
They give us costumes of the enemies that we have specific costume parts of? And that have nothing special about them?
>:I
Which I really wish we had access to. -

Quote:The Citadel TF wasn't designed by the current dev team anyway.I may ***** and moan about the older TFs but I never blame the development team for them. Yes they are bad but they were written at a time when MMOs were still relatively new and the idea of instanced MMOs even more so. The older TFs were designed to be in line with the big raid content that other MMOs had at that time. They were supposed to take a lot of time and be something for the "hardcore". Over time MMO design philosophies changed as Developers realized that the majority of their player base wanted short, snappy content as opposed to long grind-fests.
So yeah I don't blame the devs, they were developing content based on how MMOs were designed at the time.
It still needs a good harsh looking at, if not an Ol' Yeller-ing. -
Quote:The term you're looking for here is 'normal mapping.' Not saying that snarkily either-- the normal maps on the Lion Head are way more high-res and visible than the animal fur ones. This is the same problem I have when trying to use the Olympian Guard Tights (the ones with the weave texture) with a Neck Cover face detail-- it just doesn't go well. It's ALSO why I can never use the Steampunk faces. Why is my face/neck so shiny and my chest so matte?Ideally I want an end to hacks and have a texture matching the head. Also luminosity match...even using the Animal Fur trick the luminosity is different between the fur texture and the head feather texture and some colors don't have enough subtly to make a good match. A problem shared by the Lion head, for example (Lion head has a base luminosity that is different from the Animal Fur chest).

There is no 'bird costume set.' It was part of the Beast Pack, and that's how all of the pieces went. Head, feet, some patterns here and there, and a travel power.

My favorite poke-in-the-eye from the Citadel TF is in Mission Four where the entry text pop-up reads "This layout of this facility mimics the other three exactly."
Yes, thank you for making the monotony extend beyond the fourth wall. -
Prometheus says a lot of things.
Most of which make me want to punch him right in the mouth. -
You know why my favorite part of this poorly written amalgamation of words is?
How in the first two paragraphs the writer goes "OH MY GOD WOW AND SWTOR ARE LOSING CUSTOMERS, COULD THIS BE THE END OF EVERY MMO EVER OH GOD"
Has nothing to do with Blizzard's god-awful game balance practices, or their horrid love of tacking on idiotic expansions and bombarding their playerbase with "RAID RAID RAID RAIIIIIID"
Has nothing to do with SWOTR's game system being a direct rip of WoW coupled with an absolutely baffling 'restriction' system that keeps you from freaking running until level 10 and punches you off of your whatever-speeder like a half-brain-dead howler monkey trying to do a swan dive whenever you take damage.
Nope. Couldn't be any of that. Must be every MMO starting to die.
note to self never read anything from yahoo ever again
EDIT: I kind of like CoH being so word-of-mouth. Keeps out the riff raff. I swear, the one thing that could make me leave this game is my server getting flooded by people of the same mindset as a WoW raider. -
Now being offered in the Cybertech Pack: Your very own portable developer!

Quote:Free for VIPs. Purchasable for non-VIPs.I keep seeing all the devs say, "for VIPS" and this makes me nervous. Do they mean "free for VIPs" or "ONLY for VIPs"?
I don't care if I have to buy the powers I just want to know I have the option
There are threads in Beta asking for this to be clarified. -

Quote:I did the same with my unknown-identity villain Deathgrind. Has to be my favorite helmet design ever. It's both regal and intimidating.I have been trying for years to get a helmet more personalized that what is available in game. Last night after about hour and a half I finally was able to combine a bunch of diffferent non helmet pieces (and a lot of strange geometry) to create what I believe is a very rare helmet for the game. Moments like that really make me wanna do that kick up the heels thing. (How do people hold that for a photograph?)

Dearest Paragon Studios Employees,
You guys have been some seriously busy people, haven't you? Well, it makes me happy seeing all of your hard work. The new powersets, the QOL changes, the metagame improvements, the new IO sets, it's all incredible. From the perspective of someone who has interned in the MMOG industry, it's also inspiring. I have yet to see another MMO studio with dedication and communication like yours.
I have one question for you, though. It's a simple question pertaining to the massive flood of announced and soon-to-be-released content you fine folks have been pumping out in a seemingly unending fashion: How do you mitigate a content high? I am always extremely excited when I see new stuff for this game. I love this game. It's how I decompress after a hard day's work. It's how I spark up my creative muse. It's even what I do for fun (nyuck nyuck). So as you can imagine, new content just makes me as giddy and as hyper as can be.
The problem with that though, is that recently you guys have been putting out so much content that I'm starting to literally get a high off of all of it. After reading this morning's interview article (posted in the same forum as this topic) and learning of Psi Melee and Specialized Power Pools, I'm in my chair at work jittering like a man who's been duct taped to a jackhammer. There's a tiny cartoon character in my head who reads all of this and screams "NOW NOW NOW NOW MEEEEEE GIVE OMNOMNOMNOM" in a high pitched falsetto.
So again, I ask, how do I mitigate this content high? How do I stave off my rapidly-growing anticipation and apply patience to this need for the 'new shiny' as it were?
Respectfully yours,
@Insane V
P.S. - HOLY CRAP ALL OF THIS STUFF IS AWESOME I CAN'T WAIT.
P.P.S. - There is nothing bad about this little write-up; mad props to all of you at Paragon, and thank you for working so hard to bring more awesome to the most awesome game ever. -
Buy the Cape/Aura unlocks.
Seriously. You won't regret them. -

Speak for yourself; I absolutely love to tank, whether it's on a Mastermind, a Kheldian, a Brute or a Tanker. Tanking on Tankers is especially fun for me since I have less worry wading in to a full spawn than when I do so with a Brute. Nothing embodies tanking like jumping in to a group of 20+ enemies and going "Hey guys. I crapped in your coffee maker." and then watching them try to kill me.

Quote:Hopefully Paragon does what they do when sets outperform others: Buff the underperforming sets.Blaster's Martial Arts is way too powerful.
The standard has already been set that blaster secondaries must suck. Horribly. And have little to no synergy with primaries. With the obvious red headed step child, /energy, whom actually has utilities. They must be abilities that don't really work with the fast, all or nothing burst damage theme because they're thrown together, unmodified, versions of other sets. There's no "Hang in the air for a three second animation next to a boss that can 1 shot me" like Total Focus or the aggro EVERYTHING for some small DoT like Hot Feet.
Yes. I love Martial Arts. Martial Arts is amazing. It's what all other secondaries should be. And that's the problem. If it doesn't suck, it's going over shadow the other secondaries.
(Quiet, Energy Melee, no one likes you anyway.) -
Quote:Fair enough. Though doesn't the new PB Buildup persist across forms or am I misremembering? Not as good as Double-Mire, but it's there.Peacebringers can't double-mire. You said Keldians, not warshades specifically.
True, but that's nothing to scoff at. -
Notice how I said 'pretty close'?
Quote:You gotta figure in scourge when comparing Corruptors and Blasters. Which makes picking a point between the two very difficult, since scourge varies in effectiveness depending on the target. 1.0 is the same as EATs, and is threfore reasonable, but I would probably go slightly lower and some sort of inherent that boosts damage in some way.
Quote:No, in dwarf mode your damage sucks. You can have decent damage, or decent mez protection, but not both at the same time all the time.
Slotted your Dwarf Form for resistance lately?
Quote:Aggro management is exactly the job of dwarf form. Didn't getting Taunt give you a clue? That they aren't very good at it is down to poor design.
By the way, you might want to check your tone in your replies. You're coming off as scathing. -
Quote:Dark Armor = No DDR, No 'God Mode', No KB Protection. Pretty close there and it still kicks enormous butt.No DDR, no god mode, no KB protection, no damage aura, lower max HP = below scrapper level defenses.
Corruptor ranged damage modifier: .750
Blaster ranged damage modifier: 1.125
1.125 + .750 = 1.875
1.875 / 2 = .9375
For lack of a better way to put this, "midway between Blaster and Corruptor" is almost "almost Blaster." I'd wager "almost Blaster" is 1.000 scale.
