/unsigned. I stick to Atlas because AE building and Wentworth's are right next to each other. Also it's really a pointless idea.
-
I'm quoting several different people in this post.
Memphis_Bill:
[ QUOTE ]
Don't care either way - I want to say they had it where it was possible to purchase common salvage in closed beta for a bit and removed it, but my recollection may be inaccurate there.
If someone else *does* remember that, I'd say that could be taken as proof that the idea, at least near-term, has been considered and rejected already. If someone else doesn't, I'd say that could be taken as proof that my memory is faulty on the matter.
[/ QUOTE ] You could buy specific common salvage when I first got into closed beta(I was in the second wave I think). I believe it was 8 tickets for the salvage of your choice.
CaptainAmazing when you say this:
[ QUOTE ]
This was brought on by the greedy people to begin with, and it's biting them in the rear, thanks to the devs. It's what they deserve, their uber loot is worthless and their powers taken from them from strangling the market.
I think it's fitting. Let them wiggle. UP yourprices on all common salvage >
-C.A.
[/ QUOTE ] What the hell are you talking about?
Eisegen
[ QUOTE ]
Which is probably why we have things as they are. Should stable prices for Commons ever crack a million, we can rethink the issue.
[/ QUOTE ] Actually I don't think we should rethink the issue no matter how expensive it gets. Common salvage is readily available to anybody that wants it. If somebody doesn't like paying 100k for common salvage then using arch tickets or fighting enemies in the proper range will get it for them easily.
So to the OP's suggestion, /unsigned. There is not a problem with common salvage on the market. People that are complaining have ways to get what they want at reasonable prices(or free!). -
/signed. I'm all for adding some excitement to traveling while in zone.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing an out of combat recovery bonus, but I don't see a point in making the game any easier than it already is.
-
Lol, its not a big deal at all. Just messing with you. Also, I wouldn't call my posts in this thread constructive.
-
[ QUOTE ]
then I strongly suggest that you or Munki click on the notify moderator button down there by the post extras
[/ QUOTE ] Nah, I don't care that much. Besides, you got my name right this time(at least I think it was you that called me Munk). -
Dursagon, while I agree with what you just said, I feel you're wasting your time. People come into threads and make multiple posts like that to derail the thread. And it often works. I strongly suggest paying no attention to posts like that, they are a complete waste of time.
-
[ QUOTE ]
User-configurable email filters are the only viable solution that I've seen proposed here so far.
[/ QUOTE ] This. It is the only reasonable suggestion I've ever seen on the subject.
edit: Forbin your last several posts in this thread have been very non constructive, so why are you bothering somebody about breaking a rule you don't follow? -

[ QUOTE ]
We have too many servers for COH/V. Drop em to 5 so theres a real population in each one rather than 2 or 3.
[/ QUOTE ]
How about, instead, we figure out a way to spread the population of Freedom and Virtue across more servers? Just a random thought I haven't given much consideration to.
[/ QUOTE ] Why? If somebody wants a high pop server then go to Freedom or Virtue. If the person wants a lower pop server then go somewhere else.
I don't feel there is a problem. If you play on a high pop server then you run a risk of it becoming full and needing to take an extra couple minutes to log on. It's your choice. -
[ QUOTE ]
Why not just publish the TF in the MA and call it the <X> Task Force? You don't even need dev approval.
[/ QUOTE ] The OP is wanting a contest for creating game canon. -
/signed.
IMO a fantastic concept. I absolutely love the idea. -

[ QUOTE ]
but most people burn out on games really quick when you can beat them in 1 to 2 days
[/ QUOTE ]
Please explain ... How do you beat an MMO in 2 days?
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on the player. For a general person, especially one who has never played an MMO before, the first goal that comes to mind is reaching max level. To alot of people this equates into "beating the game" which as mentioned can be accomplished in a little less than a week(or say two days if you tried). Some like to do every tf/sf and once finished would call that "beating the game". Its really to each his own which. What i call beating a game and what someone else would call beating a game would be completely different.
[/ QUOTE ] That makes sense. But for me it's not about beating the game, it's more about finishing a character. For example, my first 50 was retired shortly after hitting the cap. I 'finished' that character. Same thing actually happened with my second 50. But my most recent 50 I haven't 'finished'. Months after I hit 50 I got my build to what I wanted(DM/SR scraper), now it's time to solo all the TF(at least the ones that are possible) and to solo most of the AVs, and to get good times in the various Scrapper challenges. Even after I do all of that I don't think I'll ever be finished with that one. I've grown attached. He also happens to be named MunkiLord and I've spent a lot of time working on costumes and a backstory(although I haven't finished it yet. -
[ QUOTE ]
I agree that overall this could be bad for the game as a whole. I'll admit to running several AE farms to get some characters to IO levels, and I definitely got burnt out.
[/ QUOTE ] I've done that too. When I first made my fire/kin I farmed hardcore for weeks. I then canceled my account for about six months. Total burn out. Now when I powerlevel/farm I have a specific goal/reason too. I rarely do it just to do it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Something just occurred to me. Since "servers" is countable, shouldn't that be "fewer servers?" "Less," from what I remember of my English education, should be used with uncountable nouns, such as, say, "water" or "space."
Or have I just forgotten?
[/ QUOTE ] It bothers me that you seem to have a better understanding of the English than I do. I grew up in the U.S. and I'm a smart guy. I should have studied better. -
Sometimes I'll unload a bunch of salvage for 10 influence just so I can make space to buy the stuff I need to craft, only to turn around and realize I needed some of that salvage. It'll annoy me so I'll end up paying 3-4 times what I sold it for just so I can get it right back.
-
[ QUOTE ]
that has been his whole argument in every AE thread i have seen him post in. he doesn't realize that you can roll slavage all day long with the MA tickets. yes salvage went up for a bit, but if players would just pay what they want instead of paying what the last guy paid you wouldn't see such a high spike. in fact i did this with some of the common salvage to drive the prices back down to a somewhat reasonable lvl only to see that someone still paid like 500,000 for the same salvage. and what was funny was the last 5 prices were all under 20,000. so that leads to the speculation that the person trying to control that specific salvage was trying to re-raise the prices.
[/ QUOTE ] Honestly with such high volume items I doubt somebody could do that and make a decent profit. It's a very poor way to flip items, and your serious marketeers know that. My speculation is some people don't care if they pay 500 or 50,000 influence for salvage and will often overbid just so they can get what they want right nao. That is what I do when I'm buying stuff for myself. When I'm flipping recipes I'll sometimes be more patient. -

what does it matter to you how someone else plays their game? you are not being forced into doing anything in the game. you have multiple options how to play your toons. seriously we don't need another " AE is the Devil" thread. this is the FoTM. it will die down. go play the game the way you want and stop trying to tell people how to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't matter what an individual does as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of over individuals. Since architect is removing a vast majority of the population of players into farms.
[/ QUOTE ] Not a valid reason at all. If that is what they want to do then you have to deal with it. If 99% of the population wants to farm and you are left without a single person to team with then that is your problem. -
[ QUOTE ]
i have seen supply dramatically increase on several of the items that were scarce.
[/ QUOTE ] No kidding! Now I have to diversify what I'm flipping. I had been flipping a single recipe 4-5 times a day and making 45-55 million a day. But the price has crashed since i14. -

did youy forget to take your meds munki?jk. actaully this thread was fun and im not the only one who participated in it. he didn't get under my skin so there's no harm on my side.
[/ QUOTE ] Yeah I was making more of a general statement. You weren't bad in this thread. I should have been more clear in my post or you should be able to read my mind. Either way works for me
[/ QUOTE ]
I do not support any suggestion we be able to read other posters' minds because I believe it would deep to deep embarrassment for all parties involved.
[/ QUOTE ] Not agreeing with me is trolling! -

Goetikmagus, I'll be blunt. I don't think you have the experience as a CoH player to be making the complaints you are.

Well I think y'all are getting out of hand. Were just talkin, and Im not trolling. This forum needs the patience of the guy sweeping cigs at Disneyworld. Sound strange?! Ill explain.
Disneyworld in Orlando hires people dirt cheap. I mean not even $10 an hour. They do house and feed alot of students though. The point is for such meanial pay the cig sweeper has incredible patience. He's asked on average 63 times a day where Space Mountain is. Every single time he answers politely with the directions. Thats not a patience thru great character, but simply knowing each person really doesnt know.
I didnt know this topic was beat to death. So be like the cigarette sweeper at Disneyworld kids!

and you would have known had you used the SEARCH. and before you started defending it after i posted the cut and paste, and you followed directions and used the SEARCH, this would have been a dead thread by now. showing ignorance to using the tools that we have in place to stop this kind of lack of knowledge only gets you the responses that you have gotten.
[/ QUOTE ] At the same time if you had just ignored the thread then it wouldn't have bothered you so much. People that come into repeated idea threads like this one and say the stuff you're saying are every bit as much to blame as the OP. If yall ignored it, the thread would just disappear.
edit: Actually you're worse. People like the OP are often ignorant of the rules and best way to use the search function(which is their own fault), but people like you come into threads and intentionally and knowingly disrupt them. -

Imagine if you will.. this thread gets started and NO ONE replies.
[/ QUOTE ] Dude, I want some of whatever you're on. That is one crazy idea. -
Rachelthulu, what I'm saying is that using a single moment in time to say whether our economic system is good or bad doesn't work.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Please take a look at the past 30 years on the free market and where our economy currently stands based on an uncontrolled market.
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ] Uncontrolled market? Not true. You can argue that the laws we have in place aren't enough/too much/ineffective, but there are controls in place. Also, everytime we(U.S.) have a down market, it has always come back up.
