  1. Thanks. That was what I wanted to know.
  2. Speaking of Katana, anyone happen to know off the top of their head what the ideal attack chain is and the amount of recharge needed?

And how does it compare to DM's chain of MG-Smite-Siphon-Smite?

That's cool. There is one question I have though that you didn't address in your post..... are you having fun? Seriously, you with all you typed, you never once said if you actually have fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't be playing the game if I wasn't having fun. You can check out my Forum Registration Date to see how long I've been playing.

[/ QUOTE ] That doesn't prove in any way how long you've been playing. Just throwing that out there.

    Lucky Day?

    Gratz. I'm jealous.

Besides having TP to every zone, I also think putting down the teleporters in some sort of organized fashion is important. I hate when I have to randomly hunt to find the correct teleporter.

Mobs in this game need a serious AI overhaul.

Positional Perception needs to go. There are times when you can literally be beating up a mob's buddy right behind him and it will not react.

Patrols need to be more aggressive. Or rather just BE AGGRESSIVE. Often they will walk right by you unless you're directly in the line of their pathing, even if you're fighting.

Amubushes not only call out there approach, but don't search for their target once they reach the spot that target was at when the ambush was triggered.

Runners! God, nothing says "I'm not really trying to win this fight" than the Runaway Code.

The mob AI in this game has bothered me for awhile. I just don't understand how anyone in charge could witness the AI coding in action and give it a pass.

This, IS NOT challenging ---> yawn

    [/ QUOTE ]
Writing good AI code is probably the most difficult thing to do for gaming. Your statement that it is not challenging is just revealing your ignorance. You don't have a clue about how to design such a thing, do you?

As a software developer, I'd LOVE to have a crack at gaming AI. I think that would be a very fun challenge.

[/ QUOTE ] How does him not knowing how to code something like that relevant in any way?

I'm saying: why change the entire game to suit a "but it's not HARD enough" mentality? When 90% of the player base comes along and says "my god this game is ridiculously easy, do something about it" then I'll say yeah, that's time to think broad changes.

When one person finds it too easy, it's that one's responsibility to understand what THEY can do in their game play experience, to make THEIR game more challenging.

I solo - I have soloed since I started 5 years ago this month. I don't need to rush through anything, I enjoy playing to read the missions, and I enjoy *well made* AE missions as well. I do not play PVP and I don't need to trick out my toons with purples and such.

I am, in a nutshell, the core of the game's player base, not a hardcore anything - not a rush to 50, not a where's the endgame, not a I can't find the Hollows nub either. So yeah, any kinds of changes to the basic "challenge" level of the game would DIRECTLY change how I *have* to play it. So I don't advocate any kind of game-wide changes - I advocate players making their own decisions about what THEY can do to make THEIR game challenging.

You have to remember that the default needs to be "average". Not "hard" for a game like this, in order to keep and attract players. This game has never espoused itself to the hardcore crowd of any bent, and I don't expect ever to do so.

I absolutely agree with you about the MA - that's what it's there for. So, any individual who finds themselves lacking a challenge should consider doing something there, or gimp their character (which is a common thing for some groups, witness the ironman type threads) or just moving on to a more outright difficult game.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with pretty much everything you say in this post, except I despise the idea of intentionally gimping a character. When I look for a challenge, I want it to be hard while I'm at my very best. With the proper slotting almost anything past level 22 can be stupid hard.

    Getting an IO

What IO are you looking for and what server do you play on?
  9. MunkiLord

    Servers down

Not right now. I imagine this won't last more than a couple hourish, but I don't know that for sure.
  10. MunkiLord

    Servers down

cohRock, I have found the server status screen to be unreliable. Not complaining, just saying you are probably better off trying to find that info somewhere else.
  11. Moonlighter, you should just be more like me. All your problems would be solved. And it's only 39.99 USD a month!!!
  12. Barata, that is a horrible idea. What should happen is everybody keeps doing what they are doing, but they give me a 15% cut. IMO, that is the only solution worth a damn.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
This is how boss spawning is supposed to work.

Since we were told that soloing at DiffLev 1 would suppress bosses, it was logical to assume that once you have two or more team members, or, at DiffLev 2 or higher, then bosses would spawn.

However, I was shocked to learn of some popular farm missions where six members on the team did not spawn bosses. That had to be a bug and not working as intended. And it was used to the advantage of the farmers (dare I say... exploited?).

So, it sounds like the 'weighting' of the foes was fixed.

[/ QUOTE ] I like this change a lot. If I ever decide to reslot my fire/kin(about a 2% chance) and start farming again it will help me get better drops and only slow me down a little. And it will make normal mission running more fun on my other characters.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

Wouldn't want to leave you out, although I've addressed this already: you don't refuse to fly, or go to ball games, or concerts just because some people have better access to those events. The argument that a significant number of people will quit because others have better access is specious.

[/ QUOTE ] I would buy your argument if that is the way it has always been. But you are proposing a change after five years that would decrease the value of the service people are paying for, yet still make them pay the same price. That is what would piss people off.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
How do you solo task forces? I tried today, after managing to get everyone to the zone to get a Citadel task force. Which is annoying enough to have to bug people. Once i kicked everyone it just dropped the mission.

I need this last task force for my Task Force Commander, but i guess ill never get it. I don't have 4 hours to spend doing a task force with random people, if i can do it alone i can take my time. I guess theres just nothing left to do at level 50

[/ QUOTE ] What server are you on? If you are on Freedom or Victory I will let you borrow one of my characters that I don't play to do the TF.

As long as you avoid cliche and boring names, like naming your Fire/Dark "Burning Shadow," it's easy to get names.

    [/ QUOTE ]
One man's "cliche and boring" is another man's "classic and simple."

    [/ QUOTE ]
I figured someone would bring that up. After all, some of our most well-known heroes are named things like... Spiderman. My point is, those names are already all taken.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, first of all, they're not all taken - I got Android after i14 launch. Wasn't taken.

But the problem isn't that they're taken, it's that they're taken by players who don't play the game any more. I think we can all agree that active players should be catered to over players who haven't played for multiple years. The question would be where to draw that line.

[/ QUOTE ] Tough to say. But I'll throw out 3 years. Paragon Studios should give a six month notice that if an account has been inactive for 3 years then every name on the account is available.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
You can't even find good AE farms anymore. Most teams seem to spawn 51 maps full of random bosses or lts and repeatedly teamwipe.

Then again I only join them when I'm REALLY bored. Most of the time I reply "No, I prefer to play the game."

[/ QUOTE ] That is my biggest problem with AE farms. How difficult is it to put together a decent [censored] team? If you(general you) wanna run a 54 boss farm, fine. I have no issue with that. But it's not rocket science to put together a group of people that won't team wipe every mob or two.

Also, WTF is it with level 2-20 teams wanting to do high level boss farms? That makes no damn sense to me. Realize that you aren't slotted, usually don't have your best powers, and pick a more reasonable farm.

But if you solo about 90% of the time is it really good?

Sometimes though it is better to use the check name feature before you create your character, it tends to save a lot of heartache.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I ALWAYS do this. I always come up with the name first, and everything flows from there. But that's just me.

[/ QUOTE ] I usually do just the opposite. I'll go into the character creator screen and pick whatever AT I feel like, decide my powersets, make a costume(or often I'll just keep hitting random button and change the colors), then I'll pick the name. It's how I came up with the name Careful, my Warshade. It actually worked out pretty well, because I ended up playing that character stupid aggressive.

If I'm feeling especially not creative I'll just stick 'Munki' in front of a word. Like MunkiBone or MunkiDan. But none of those characters has ever made it past level 5.

Another good way is to have one person pick a random adjective and stick it in front of a random noun that somebody else picked. Kilted Sirloin was created using that method.

Or you can pick two random words out of the dictionary. Helpless Purple got her name using that method.

Or you could pick something really obvious in English, and stick it in an online translator. I picked Red Death for my Fire/WP Scrapper and stuck it in a French translator and it spit out Mort Rouge. I thought it sounded better Rouge Mort so I went with that instead.

/Elec lost a lot of the burst damage, but it's a good grinder still. It isn't weak by any means, but the rise of /Energy has made it less of a no-brainer.

[/ QUOTE ] Would you mind expanding on that a little bit? I just made a Ice/Elec(only lvl4) and I mainly solo but if /Elec isn't as good as it used to be I'll reroll(grav/nrg interest me a lot).

After you get Wormhole and Singy, it's all gravy and it becomes one of the best control sets in the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Erm, no.

After Wormhole and Singy, the set is merely adequate. It is surpassed in every way by all the other sets.

    [/ QUOTE ] How?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I agree with the author. I hate AE farms, but all people do is farm. I suggest dropping AE to no xp. I know that sounds dumb, but think about it. AE is meant for the players to make story arcs that are fun/challanging/ expand on their characters. It would make become more like it was meant to be played.

[/ QUOTE ] It was also meant for people to be able to level all the way to 50 using AE. So how would removing XP accomplish that?

OP doesn't know what he's talking about, otherwise he would have an answer for the problem of pissed customers that can't or won't pay for special access. He ignores that point completely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, no, he "answered" *cough* that point with "Mah wallet haz da monies, too bad peasants."

He ignores the lowered capacity for everyone else, sure.
He also hasn't answered the "X many slots, X+n people paying for them and trying to get in."

Both of which, frankly, ARE answered by NCSoft's "no guarantee that you will be able to use the service" clause... which answers the OP's original complaint anyway.

10 other servers, lots of room, and if he's bringing wife and friends, no issue about "I can't find anyone to play with" (which is BS anyway, especially on 2xp weekends.)

[/ QUOTE ] I completely agree. He would have an argument if 8 out of 11 of the servers had this 'problem' but since that isn't reality he is just whining.
