Quote:I disagree. I think a better option than thread merging is people quit being morons and ******** everytime a dead horse gets brought up. I mean, all of yall should be smart enough to realize that if people don't post in these thread then they will go away. Then again, yall are stupid enough to think complaining about the threads does any good, so maybe everyone is too stupid and idiotic to actually ignore these threads. Either that or yall are whiney like a bunch of six year old girls.Thread-merging seriously needs to be looked into for these boards, especially this one. I think that's going to be my "dead horse" I keep trotting out.
Also, person I'm quoting, this wasn't directed at you specifically. It was directed at anybody that comes to these dead horse topics and complains. Honestly it makes me wonder if the internet is 90% six year girls. -
Quote:I made five billion influence last double xp weekend by hoarding a bunch of IOs for almost a year.To quote you - "Lol... what?"
So, no, having IOs slotted is not "Hoarding" them, any more than putting gas in my car and driving around is "hoarding" gas, or buying food and making dinner is "hoarding" food. Crafting a bunch of IOs and sticking them in the base just to have them around, or to speculate that the price will go up in the future and throwing them on the market? That's hoarding. -
I'm gonna disagree with everybody. I vote /SR.

Quote:It doesn't belittle what you have done. Because honestly what you have done isn't that impressive. Getting to level 50 is not some grand accomplishment that requires great skill and time investment. It's actually quite a simple task.ALL THE THINGS BEING SAID ARE VERY TRUE.
I agree with them all, a bad player is a bad player regardless. I guess for me, someone who has been playing a kheldian since issue 3, I hate seeing the early reward system. Perhaps I am more upset that it belittles what i have done, I don't know. but thanks for letting me vent about it
Really what this comes down to is you whining because somebody got something easier than you did. Your best bet is to just get over it, because nobody cares and it is not gonna change. -

Quote:And they do. Running a successful MMO - or any other business - does not, however, mean "adopt wholesale anything that a customer says as the greatest idea EVAR and implement it."
Having the devs say "No, absolutely not" is exceptionally relevant, as it's their product.
I completely agree with your last statement. That being said, at some point, what the customer wants becomes more important than dev vision for a game. But I don't think this particular request is to that point. In fact, I don't think it is close to that point.
While I think being able to keep more enhancements during a respec should be added, I don't think it needs to be added.
The reason I encourage people to keep requesting this, despite dev quotes is because something like this very well could be added if enough people want it.
For example, I realize the reason power customization came to us only recently was because of the massive work involved. But do any of yall really think the manpower would have been invested if it wasn't so demanded? -
um, /signed. But that's all I'll say. Not getting into this for the third or tenth thread on this subject this week.

Quote:Well as far as server eating your character, I don't know what to say.Hmmm.
No one ever DID answer my question I posed earlier in the thread.
What do you do when you go through ALL of that stuff to start over at level 1 with all your badges.....and then you feel like playing the OLD character?
I mean, think about it, obviously you enjoy playing that character...if you didn't you probably wouldn't have collected all that crap on it in the first place. Chances are you would jump through all the hoops required to start over and a couple days later you'd want to play your old standby character...except now you CAN'T, because it doesn't exist anymore.
And then there's the problem already mentioned. What do you do with an entire character's worth of level 50 IOs that you won't be able to use for another 46 levels? It's doubtful you will get to just hang on to all of them.....more likely you'd go through all of this and then *POOF* several billion inf worth of IOs....gone.
And the point that we don't know how important AT, powersets, and origin are to how the character is filed within the server. I can see a bug happening where the computer looks for BlasterGuy to log in....only the server is looking for a level 50 Fire/Fire blaster, and BlasterGuy is now a level 1 katana/WP scrapper. Your character, including all the stuff you were so desperate to keep, just got eaten by the server....and you can't get it back because the OLD character was deleted when you switched stuff around.
There's a lot of stuff you're glossing over or just flat out ignoring here.
But to someone wanting to play a character after it is deleted(which is effectively what one would be doing), umm, too bad. -

I obviously did a poor job communicating my point, because the responses don't actually address what I'm saying. Which is fine, that is my fault. I'm just gonna concede this since I don't feel like digging through 100+ pages of the S&I forum for an example to support what I'm saying.

Quote:Yes they would. Great addition to the OP.I'm all for it, so long as the objects are as billed: Decorative objects that serve no real function. And extra 100-1,000 prestige item that can be put in any room.
How about we up the scale a little bit further while we're at it? Multiple versions, including a "Table" with a map of the Rogue Isles or Paragon City on it, depending on which item you place. I'd love for my control room to have a "Sector Map" of each zone as if we're planning various assaults or monitoring information. So let's go for wall-mounted Zone maps with the individual neighborhoods marked.
Wouldn't all of these things be awesome for Base Designers?

Quote:I agree they don't have to, I'm not even saying they should explain the reasoning. In fact, I wasn't commenting about the devs in the post you quoted at all. So I don't get how your reply to my post even makes sense. The devs don't have to give us a reason why this is a bad idea. If they don't want to do it they won't.
I was commenting on the fact that posters reject these ideas simply because a dev has said no in the past, not because anybody is actually against the idea itself.
Before the email changes and and power customization were implemented, many posters rejected those ideas simply because of past dev comments. Both of those features eventually made it in the game. -

I agree, I don't really see the point for this. Unless perhaps you are talking about controlling the music player while focused on CoH, even then I don't know how much QoL this would provide.

Quote:I would like to purpose a second bar (or eve third) to store enhancement to bring the total to twenty (or thirty).
The new bar would not be available for storage while respecing (unless there was a change in policy) but would reduce storage management time while on very lucrative teams.
Without the change in policy you refer to, I'm against this idea. Having all these slots and not being able to use them during a respec seems kinda dumb. -
I like the idea mainly because, in general, I feel more options is a good thing.
That being said, I think the major problem is base designers too stupid to put their zone TPs in some sort logical order. -
Quote:That doesn't mean it can't change. But more importantly, other than just agreeing with an old dev statement just to agree with it, I haven't heard one argument on why something like this is a bad idea or how it would be bad for the game. What it still runs against is the Dev comment that keeping 10 enhancements was generous during a respec. They haven't said or done anything to indicate that this attitude has changed at all.
edit: Also, /signed. This should be fixed(yes, I said fixed because I see it as broken), just like the email system was finally fixed in Issue 17. -

My new HTC Desire is a thing of beauty. I love it more than is natural for an electronic device.
My girlfriend who has an iPhone is rather jealous of it (and I don't have to use iTunes either. Huzzah!)
I'm pumped for this phone. -
Quote:I strongly disagree with number 3. Although I have never bought a recipe at full price, I feel taking away options is bad.I think I've said this before, but if I had my druthers, I'd do the following things with respect to merits (ordered from least to most likely to draw ire):
1. Allow players to set the level that they'd like to roll recipes at.
2. Earned merits go into an account-wide pool.
3. Eliminate the option to purchase specific recipes with merits.
4. Force random rolls whenever the random roll merit threshold is reached through an immediate reward selection popup.
Quote:I don't think anyone's answered this yet, but they'd never allow mailing merits to ourselves. Anyone who has the 60-month (not to mention the 72-month) Veteran Reward would have an infinite supply of merits. Create a new character, instantly receive 5 (or 11) Merits, mail them to yourself, delete character, rinse, repeat.
Not sure how difficult something like would be to implement, but it's an idea. -
If Virtue keeps crashing, then I see nothing wrong with complaining. But if it is down to fix a problem, complaining about that seems kinda dumb.

Quote:I would rather have an Android app.I think this has been mentioned before, but for all of you out there with iPod touches and iPhones, wouldn't you love it if there was an app for this game? I just found out champions online has an app that let's you check your characters, manage you friends list, check news on the game, etc. That would be GREAT for coh dontcha think? It's a free app but I'd be willing to pay 99 cents for it. What do you think?
