  1. I like to think there's a Dev reading this and taking notes. Either the Devs read these threads and laugh, or they read them and go "heyyy... that's a good idea..."
  2. Actually.. the Dream Doctor is a really cool idea. Points to Rodoan, though I can't personally fill in more backstory than you have there.

What would be MORE interesting is if Future Nemesis actually was Rularuu.

Time travel, gods... it's possible, if confusing.
  4. Is "DJ Zero" an anagram of "Lord Nemesis"? *calculates* ..... No. Huh, I was sure on that one (actually DJ Zero is a neat idea)

Personally I don't buy the "Silos is future Nemesis who wants to redeem himself for something" angle. There's just something fishy about it. Silos isn't who he appears to be, and he certainly isn't who it says in the "Ask about this contact" window.

I only mention it (aside from the powers) because of the high level Villain alignment mission... where you're living forever, having the power (or half the power) of a god - but he's been fighting you for, what, thousands of years with the same power, finally falling because of "Nethermatter?"

That's a fair bit of power - then again, the description there *does* sound very well-ish. Though I'm not sure why, if that's the case, he and you would only be "half-powered." After all, Cole and Richter aren't exactly half-powered - other than self limitation.

(Note I'm not really arguing for it *being* him, just bringing up some information that would give him power enough to do... much more than we're used to.)
I simply meant that Frostfire would be silly not in terms of low power, but because of how little-established he is. Leader of the Outcasts who later tries to redeem himself; appears in the Hollows and few missions outside of that. Revealing him as the Letter Writer/important would just be plain out of left field, where characters like Nemesis, Lady Grey, etc. are shown with a track record of being awesome and are well-established with characters.

Hmm... maybe I should go redo some old content... heh
We were saying that the Letter Writer is a "he" based on Dean McArther's story arc, but Lady Grey is a she so she at least didn't directly give Dean the letter to you.

It's never specifically said that Lady Grey is The Lady of the Lake, but it is somewhat implied and it was never DISproven, either.

Granted that's a big logical jump to make, but I do like to think of that mission as taking place in a future where the Hamidon won.
I never saw the tentacles as specifically "Hamidon", but they are something to note. As for the Echoes, there could be several theories there too: a Rularuu/Shadow Shard connection, or perhaps they are echoes generated by the Well of those who have given it/taken from its power, summoned to defend the Well from Incarnate You, who has obviously soaked up a heaping pile of Power. However, it is my understanding that the Well wants to give you all of that power so that when you die and pass into legend the Well gets that power back tenfold [which gives another interesting take on what's going on in Cimerora].
  8. I'm totally blanking on the name of the power, so bear with me- the Shield power where you teleport into a mob and cause damage and knockback? I'd also love a version of Assassin's Strike similar to that. You move quicker than the eye can see (teleport), attack your target, and BAM you're out of there again. Theoretically, you could take out an entire mob without them ever seeing you using this method. It'd take a bit with the recharge, but I still think it's a very cool idea concept-wise.
  9. My theory (copied from another thread):

My working theory: Nemesis is an Incarnate, and he has spent his long life [perhaps extended by Incarnate power] on the "Slow" incarnate path (like players) and the Well has no control over him. Mender Silos is Nemesis (obviously) but not from as far in the future as he claims. He's been orchestrating events through Ouroboros to make sure he comes out on top of... well, everything, including the Coming Storm. Perhaps he learned about the Battalion from Twilight's Son, who allegedly sold out all the Kheldians to them in his time. Perhaps, eventually, Nemesis' patience and incredible will allow him to direct the force of the Well, and it's his voice we hear taking over Incarnates.

Obviously, this doesn't account for who the Letter Writer really is and, truthfully, we have no indication outside of "male". I'm amused by the idea of Frostfire, though making that the answer would just be silly. I also doubt it is Vanguard, though Lady Grey does know more than she's telling. It's implied that she and Nemesis have known each other for a very long time. We also know that the Writer is gathering a super-team to fight the
Coming Storm, since he doesn't trust Ouro to do it right (though he does admit they are stalling/slowing it), and that the Writer wanted us to go to Cimerora [because he gifted the crystal to the Midnighters], presumably to stop the Path of the Dark from taking root there. Could a world where Nictus took over in Roman times attract the Battalion (which runs on Kheldian life force) earlier? I assume Requiem has a stance on the fight against the Battalion for this reason. Preatorian Requiem is specifically mentioned by the Writer, though almost in passing. But I'm not sure we can assume anything important enough to be in these letters is just "in passing".

Anyway, it's all just theory. There's no way to know, and we'll probably all be wrong. It just seems obvious that Nemesis is neck-deep in a plot revolving around/caused by/causing the Coming Storm- not just because "he's Nemesis and he has all the plots, forever" but because he's the real villain of this game. Ever thought it would be impossible for someone to have THIS many plots going at once? How much easier would that be if he could travel back in time and retry taking over the world as many times as he wants? Plus, we know that Nemesis has a vendetta against his multi-dimensional counterparts. Seems like we're leading up to a "Crisis on Infinite Earths" event, though farther down the line.
  10. I'm very interested in the Letter Writer at this point. We know that the Coming Storm is the Battalion, and that the LW is forming a team to fight the Coming Storm. We know that Ouroboros is not what it seems.

Anyone wanna place bets on if the Battalion was caused by Nemesis too? :P

My working theory: Nemesis is an Incarnate, and he has spent his long life on the "Slow" incarnate path (like players) and the Well has no control over him. Mender Silos is Nemesis (obviously) but not from as far in the future as he claims. He's been orchestrating events through Ouroboros to make sure he comes out on top. Perhaps he learned about the Battalion from Twilight's Son, who allegedly sold out all the Kheldians in his time. Perhaps, eventually, Nemesis' patience and incredible will allow him to direct the force of the Well, and it's his voice we hear.

As for Emperor Cole, he's not a bad guy, he just took the only option available to save his world. When he learned of Primal Earth, he launched the invasion not to show Hami he's in control, but to create a super-powered arms race in Primal Earth (his power dampeners forcing so many of us into Incarnate levels) to amass an army in our world strong enough to save his own world even if it means his own downfall.
  11. I no longer consider the original or older content of CoH to be a spoiler. Way back when, the reveal that the Rikti were alternate humans was a huge deal to me. Now, yes, they're humans- the reveal is that the Rikti are not evil, and the war was caused by Nemesis. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to set that up. In telling someone about CoH for the first time, I'm not going to say "well these aliens called the Rikti attacked seven years ago- only they're alternate dimension humans for real." I'll let them find out, but if it comes up, it isn't a huge deal.

That said, I'm actually a huge stickler for spoilers in general. I have a really bad knee-jerk reaction to any sort of spoilers being told to anyone who hasn't seen/read/heard what is being discussed. But there are exceptions to that when a spoiler becomes a part of pop culture to where everyone should at least know of it- like Rosebud is the sled, for example.

  13. Mint Berry Crunch should have flown around the Earth backwards, causing time to reverse so he could stop the original BP oil spill, with everyone forgetting the events of the episodes.

Of course, then we would have less Mysterion awesomeness, so there's good and bad.
  14. I really hope Region 1 comes down to Gandalf vs. Dumbledore. My girlfriend insists Dumbledore would win, and she simply will not listen to reason.

On a side note, Han Solo & Jack Sparrow would make an excellent buddy cop movie.

You're thinking of the episodes with the Peruvian Flute Bands. Clyde did unwillingly get dragged into the hijinks of the boys, and ended up being important.
  16. I agree with you on RIP, though so you know the story is only just now ending in The Return of Bruce Wayne.

Countdown is disliked because it and Death of the New Gods contradicted each other (and other comics) and forced DC to basically sweep the whole thing under the rug because it had been handled so poorly.

Final Crisis I liked a lot. Besides the Legion and Monitor aspects, which were shoehorned in and terrible. The main plot, with Darksied, was very good. It was a good, epic, story (Final Crisis: Revelations was the best part). As for Batman killing Darksied, it worked. Darksied was, literally, the God of Evil. He represented everything evil about the entire universe. Batman dedicated his life to fighting evil in an unwinnable battle. Then there's Darksied. How can he not take the shot? He even points out himself the significance of the event. But, if you must, realize that Batman didn't kill anyone. He fatally wounded the body Darksied was in (Dan Turpin), and poisoned the essence of Darkseid. Superman countered Darksied's vibrations, effectively killing him. So Superman is a murderer, not Batman, but it's one of those things where the killing is forgivable.
  17. I'm excited for Batman, Inc. It represents a new chapter in Batman in some obvious ways, some less obvious ways. For those of you who haven't been following the recent Batman comics, Bruce is less darkity dark dark now. His experiences lately and what he saw upon his return encouraged him that he doesn't have to be closed off. He trusts Dick, Tim, and Damian, and is open enough with others now that he is actually letting others use the Bat name instead of yelling at them and kicking them out of Gotham like he used to. Yes, it's a new direction for an iconic hero and that's always risky. But I'm personally a fan of Morrison's work - most of the problems with it stem from delays in publishing, which isn't always his fault - and I trust him to carry Bruce in a cool new direction.
  18. I agree that these have been some of the best episodes, and South Park has been consistently great lately. Mysterion and his power being explained in an in-canon way was very well-handled, and all the references and spoofs that the Coon Saga is laden with have been impressive. Also, Cthulhu! Anyoen else notice the Arkham Horror games in the backround of the cultist lair? Nice nod to a great game.
  19. Kingdom Come
    Watchmen
    V for Vendetta
    Sandman
^ don't know if these should be included, but they are EPIC

World War III (or Mageddon, depending on who you ask) from Grant Morrison's JLA run has always been a favorite of mine. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I'll also mention Batman: RIP, or at least Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader
  20. I could see a Croc/Bane co-villain movie. Both of them make a play to take over Gotham's vulnerable underworld (this being the mostly smart, mostly human, yet vicious Croc). But Bane is also there to take out Batman; basically a remake of the Knightfall arc except Batman wins, taking out the broken back.

  22. Kurt is an extraordinary Riff Raff.
  23. I really don't like it. I get the "updated for modern audiences" bit, really, like Tony Stark being captured in Afghanistan. It makes sense. But you don't need to mess with what works. There's nothing wrong with the power battery looking like a lantern. Where does the "Green Lantern" name come from if there is no lantern-esque symbols around? Why does the chest logo look like a lantern if there is no lantern? There's no need for something to look alien just for the sake of looking alien. Movies and comics should translate well to each other; meaning someone with no comic knowledge should be able to see the movie, get interested, and pick up a comic without wondering why they're nothing alike. I'm really hoping that this, and the suit, are "in transition" to the more common versions and the producers are just putting out these pics to surprise us with a fully comic-accurate movie. At this point, every bit of news I get about the GL movie disappoints me more.

    Castle 10/11

Because the previews hinted that it was a Steampunk episode, I guessed early on that SPOILERS he died in a duel (yes, I know, but still). Also, I wish that places like the Steampunk club were all over the place and that I had Nathan's Steampunk arm. Fun episode, overall.
