Just to be safe, since I just saw this thread: I love my Warshade. Not just enjoy, but love. I can cap my damage solo, my damage resist solo, and have managed to purple her out, to the point of perma-hasten. She's my farmer, able to handle most enemies at +4/x8, with the exception of endurance draining enemies.
The fact that her name is "a little bunny" doesn't hurt either, as that makes for some awesome NPC dialogue. Did you hear? Frostfire was defeated by a little bunny! -
I'm sorry but... who is Arbiter Fabulous? I really have no idea who this person is, and don't understand why they deserve a TF named after them. Heck, I'd support a Sexy Jay TF first.

Quote:I am so in favor of this. I <3 Duplicates!I heartily agree with this, but I don't think that it needs a new mission. Going deeper into spoiler territory here:
Really, all that needs to be done is to change the mission objective where you find the Duplicate. Instead of clicking on a 'box of parts' they can have the Duplicate up and running. -
Status Report!
So recently I hit level 29 with my Stalker, and Ninja Blade / Ninjitsu seems to have been the right choice for me. I have a fairly light in the damage attack chain, but soft capped Melee defense thanks to Divine Avalanche. I managed to get the +3% defense IO, which has brought my overall defense to a little over 32%. At level 30, I expect to get Weave which will bring me to 36%.
The sets so far feel fairly fast (the low damage attacks help there) and the secondary has been great to me. I'm very survivable solo and on teams, thanks to DA and my heal I've often been the sole survivor on a team of eight.
I really can't wait to reach the higher levels so I can have my full attack chain and excellent secondary powers. I have been contemplating skipping my Tier Nine in favor of.... something. I don't know what, but I'm thinking Stealth or Caltrops. I've never been a big fan of those kinds of powers with a crash, so I figure some utility is what would help me the most. I may still end up getting it much later, but the most likely scenario is that no, I won't.
So, with the opening of the new APPs for Villains, what would the be a decent addition to my Stalker? I've contemplated Body Mastery, but I'm unsure if that's a good fit. -
Quote:It's more of a cumulative effect. "I think this idea is good. No one has argued. Someone else has posted this idea, so I show support." Wash, rinse, repeat and in theory it starts to look like there's majority support for an idea because "silence is consent".I force people to spend time on them? I'm sorry, I was under the impression that unless you had a red name that these forums were a voluntary activity. I certainly don't mind you ignoring my threads, feel free to do so at any time.
As I also don't have a red name, how is me thinking that an idea is good a threat to anyone? This is a rather fascinating bias.
Also, there's the fact that people should read up on ideas presented previously, especially if they've been discussed to any length. It helps to keep the idea from being repeated over and over and it moves the idea into a better starting point each time, refining it. You do want your ideas presented in the best possible light for the hopes of gaining support, right? Then in theory your best bet is to see where the discussion of the idea ended last time, improve where you can / feel it needs it, and then present that idea. As it is, you set your idea up in the worst possible light by just putting it out there like that. -
Quote:Well I do appreciate your honesty in this regard, and I can see how you would get so easily offended. After careful consideration, I've decided to reject this advice. I will certainly be deliberately offensive to people that are offensive to me, although I do enjoy productive discussions as well. Thank you for your input, though.
One thing has been bugging me since this thread was started though: Where does "Heroes never miss" come from? Is that the basis of the idea (Hero class NPCs should never miss? or Heroes the players should never miss?), and if so, why the question mark? The title just doesn't make sense to me. -
Yes. Time. People have gone over the merits and flaws of this idea already in other threads. By ignoring them, you force people to refute the base idea again or worse yet, allow you to think the idea is good by not responding. It's always best, if possible, to review previous discussions on ideas (no matter what field, be it a video game forum or a science class) before bringing them up again. The fact that two were fairly recently discussed just compounds the issue.

Then why the passive-aggressive "oh finally, someone who gets me!" post at all? Especially if the rebuttals against your ideas are valid?
And if you wanted to discuss the merits and flaws of your ideas, why didn't you when you had the chance from the get-go? Perhaps you should worry less about contemplating who gets 'offended' at what, and more about how the valid points against your idea can (and should) adjust your final product. -
Quote:No. You pointed fingers at EVERYONE by implying that only SOMEONE was finally responding how you wanted. Just because you didn't single anyone out doesn't mean people shouldn't take offense. It means you're trying to back peddle to cover your rear. You were "careful not to point fingers", that means you knew exactly what you were doing.I was careful not to point fingers. Taking it personally... well, that's your choice.
Perhaps instead of crying foul over people pointing out how horrid your initial idea is, you should put a little thought into it and try and adjust according to what blatant and obvious problems were pointed out from the get go. -
I can agree with this. I have no idea how many times I've forgotten to move Rest into my tray until level 7-ish because I didn't have a need for it until then. At creation, I spend a few minutes organizing (loading binds, moving and removing powers, setting controls), and I would love to add things like Rest and Mission Transporter to that list.

The only part of that which saddens me is that the Epic ATs don't get access to any new PPPs or APPs. This is fairly disheartening to my Warshade. I was hoping to go Villain and get access to some variation in powers through PPPs, even if APPs were never unlocked for them.
I do understand why. It's hard to find something to round them out when they're already fairly well rounded. -
Oh crap! I didn't see his bid (I was looking at your latest post to figure the bids, mia culpa), so in that case, I'll up it to 6,000,000 for Champion!
-
I'll actually be moving several OFF Freedom. Not because I don't like playing there, but because I need to spread out more and I miss Champion some.
....
That and I'll be starting a whole slew of new characters on Freedom. -
I'll make a 2,000,000 bid on the Champion Server as well. And in my generosity, I'll allow Street_Wolf to lay claim to my 2,000,000 bid on Freedom (I will still pay the 2,000,000 on Freedom, should no one outbid me, but he can claim the prize).
-
I'll bid 2,000,000 on the Freedom VG (sorry Street Wolf). I wasn't originally going to have a VG, but it would be nice to have an "alt only" compliment to my Freedom SG. And it would be nice to have a "piece of Steelclaw" history.
Edit: Wait, what's the name of the SG / VG on Pinnacle? Might be worth bidding if only for the name! -
This is, actually, the exact issue I think I had regarding my Stalker issues. I admit I just powered through my low levels, choosing a primary that animated and recharge quickly. Alternatively, you can pick up a power pool attack that leads to a travel power, such as Air Superiority or Jump Kick. That gets both a travel power start, and an extra attack to balance your attack chain.
I admit though, I also use Ninja Run and Hurdle for my travel power, even though I finally got City Traveler and could pick any Travel Power at level 6. That was more of a choice to get Stamina at 20, and I may Respec it differently later on.
A problem I see it is that it's hard to resist the allure of Build Up, Placate, and AS in a row so early in the builds. I know I can't. -
Quote:I remember when you were "Hard Boiled" instead of Heroic! I loved that term, and still use it to describe when I'm on my standard settings.QFT I remember weekly - sometimes DAILY - debates in Broadcast "No, Unyielding is harder than Tenacious, but not as hard as Invincible." "But I thought Rugged was easier than Heroic" "Yes Rugged is harder than Tenacious but Unyeilding is still not as hard as Invincible" "Yeah but...."
And don't forget you HAD TO PAY for the privilege of changing your Difficulty setting. -
Quote:Which is actually quite exciting to me. I know that there aren't many and it doesn't directly affect me right now, but the fact that one could run the two mitigation toggles from Dark, get into position, and then AS to come out of hid stunning / fearing the enemies around you... that's pretty hot. I wonder how much fun it would be to do the same thing with Energy Aura's Repel? Now that the GR NDA is lifted, it's safe to say that they've fixed this. DA toggles won't affect enemies while you're hidden. That's gonna take a load off of the micromanaging of toggles for a lot of stalkers
That would be one way to scatter the Alpha, eh, eh? -
With your suggestions and such, I managed to get a rough idea of how to get "near" soft capped defense through Sets. I can get about 40 to Melee, 43 to Ranged, and 42 to AoE (give or take a couple percents). This doesn't count powers like Stealth, Combat Jumping or Divine Avalanche so the final numbers may be a bit higher. It'll be pricey, but I think it'll be worth it in the end.
If I get this going, I can easily shift about 3% from Melee to Ranged to reach the soft cap there, and rely on Divine Avalanche for the rest (I may just end up doing that anyway).
So I guess my question to everyone in general would be: Is it better to Soft Cap Ranged and AoE, and use Divine Avalanche to cover the gaps (less then 15% from Soft Cap) in Melee Defense? Or should I aim for a consistent "near" Soft Cap for all to minimize the risk in allowing a power that has to hit to cover some of my Defense. I ask mostly because if I'm opening up in the middle of a group, they're going to be in Melee range when the Alpha hits me (for the most part), and Divine Avalanche's protection won't be in effect at that point. -
Quote:Well of course I'm taking that into consideration, as I've had Divine Avalanche for about 7 levels now. I plan on figuring out how to get more Ranged defense, as well as some Melee defense for when Divine Avalanche misses or for the start of the fight before I get a chance to use it.I just got my nin/nin stalker to 24, wait and try out divine avalanche before you start pushing slots to work defense. I cant get a solid 53% melee with nothing but SOs and DA and melee is most of your incoming damage when scrapping. I don't think I'm going to mess with IOs on my stalker till he hits the 30s and I get a good idea of exactly what I am going to finish out with and what slots I can fiddle around on.
Just food for thought.
Really, this it's just an exercise to figure out what sets I will need to capitalize on Defense, as that's something I haven't really had to do before (usually it's Accuracy, Recharge, or Endurance Recovery, all items I'm not terribly worried about on this character). Of course, extra powers are going to play a part in this choice as well as I've started to work my way towards Weave, and I may consider getting other, less lucrative, defense providing powers. -
So I'm back, and my Stalker is now at level 23. Thanks to the advice I've gotten here, I managed to use a Vet Respec and pick up Stamina while dropping Sting of the Wasp. This means my attack chain consists of two attacks (not counting Vet Powers and AS), but because they activate quickly, I actually don't mind. Plus, pushing back Caltrops has let me get the heal, which has proven very handy.
My next objective will probably be determining some decent slotting to obtain some good, if not soft capped, defense.
So far, this has been an absolute success story for me! Thanks to everyone's opinions, both opposing and not, I have found a Stalker I enjoy playing. So thank you everyone for your help, and I can't wait to begin the process of Going Rogue with Tyla Duto! -
Quote:This tends to be true, but sometimes that little bit of attention is just all the need. I mean, it IS a forum, and we're ALL posting so our opinions get heard. A little AWing isn't exactly a bad thing sometimes. Just means he's getting to hear what he needs to hear to get over it.okay I realize my opinion here may not be the most popular one but I frequent a good number of forums, and people who usually leave the "I'm leaving" threads typically do it for attention.
Or something.
