  1. That is a lot to pack in by level 20, let alone worry about a travel power. In fact, at level 16 now, I can't see getting Stamina by 20 without pushing a lot back. Not that I feel I need it atm.

I guess I could push Caltrops back bit (22?) and get a Travel Power in it's place on a Respec.

    Thanks again!

EDIT: So after playing Tyla Duto a bit tonight, I got to thinking: Is it possible to Respec and pick up Divine Avalanche and use that for my "minor damage" over Gambler's Cut? I know it has the longer activation time, but by that point I'll have enough tricks and tools to still be fine for my play style. Essentially I'm wondering if it's a viable choice. It would let me respec, and be able to get Hurdle and Health pre-20 (by pushing back Caltrops) and then get Stamina around 22-ish (18 for Divine Avalanche, 20 for Kuji-in Sha).
  2. Spine Burst, Lightning Rod? I think a PBAoE would be justified for a Stalkers set.

Of course I don't have my heart set on that type of power, a cone would work just as well. I just don't think Stalkers can't have a PBAoE.

Exactly! Be fun enough, and we get the mods to give you a custom Forum Titles.
  4. Leo: since the cottage rule doesn't really apply to power sets that haven'y been made, and only applies to changes to current sets out in use, I don't see the harm in introducing a standard God Mode power as the tier nine, especially since I totally forgot Stalkers get access to Hibernate in the PPPs.

I don't see what's wrong with Ice Sword Circle, personally, though my experience with it has been limited. A modified version ( all imported powers should be modified to fit the new AT anyway ) would be no worse then any other PBAoE Stalkers can get.
  5. My biggest hurdle, I think, is that due to rampant alt-itis, I have already done many of the primaries to a high level, so I have this idea of how it should play, always from different ATs. This caused a few issues inky first Stalker, but I have gotten better.

So far my Nin/Nin has done well, both on teams by hitting the bosses and letting others deal with the minions, and solo, which is actually slower then I'd like. I may have to raise the level to make it manageable. A small issue I've found is spotting my powers properly with IOs. But that's not really the fault of the power sets, so much as needed three times as many Luck Charms.

Level 18 is right around the corner, and I have to say, the Natural booster pack was the best investment I could make in this game. No serious need for a travel power until much later. And City Traveler gets that done fast.

With that in mind, would you push back Caltrops for a travel power?
  6. I just want to echo those who are suggesting you don't leave. It's a forum, and generally one of the better ones out there. People are nicer here then most places, even when they're being mean.

If nothing else, you've shown that you learn from your mistakes and you're a better person for it. So why leave?
  7. Interesting ideas with the procs, Zem. I hadn't really considered the Lethal Resistance to be a large issue, as I'm still early on and have hunted down mostly the Vahz because those guys are suckers for Lethal. I haven't gone into any serious planning for the build yet, but I can see how slotting the -Res Proc from Achilles Heel could work into most of my attacks.

    8. Build Up
    12. Frost
    18. Placate
    26. Freezing Touch
    32. Greater Ice Sword
Why move Frost up and add in "Frozen Strike"? I would probably keep Frost in the third slot (level 2), move Placate up to level 12, and put Ice Patch back in. This gives a bit more control at level 18 while having some early AoE with Frost (the only AoE power). If Ice Patch seems to defensive, it could be slide over to the Secondary (Armor) and we could instead put in another AoE attack such as Ice Sword Circle (from the Dominator's Ice Assault set).

    28.
    35. Energy Absorption
    38. Hibernate
I would probably put Ice Patch in there, as that would be a great addition to the secondary for extra mitigation as well as a "handy trick" one could whip out when in a bind. If that's no good, then perhaps Shiver from the Ice Manipulation set for Blaster, an AoE -Rech and Slow that deals no damage, a fairly defensive power.

So here would be my preferred changes to your suggestion:

    Ice Melee:

    1. Frozen Fists
    1. Frost
    2. Ice Sword
    6. Assassin's Chill
    8. Build Up
    12. Placate
    18. Ice Sword Circle
    26. Freezing Touch
    32. Greater Ice Sword

    Ice Armor:

    1. Hide
    2. Frozen Armor
    4. Hoarfrost
    10. Wet Ice
    16. Permafrost
    20. Glacial Armor
    28. Ice Patch
    35. Energy Absorption
    38. Hibernate
  9. Spines actually felt too slow for me. The long activation times on the early powers just didn't do it for me. Teaming isn't really the issue for me, it's soloing, and short activation times coupled with quick recharges help me with that specifically because it feels more active, not necessarily because it is more active (especially later on).

Also, see the parts about why I picked Ninjitsu over Willpower. Willpower is powerful, I'll grant you that, but Ninjitsu works better for me and my issues.

  11. I like the idea of certain attacks having a 100% chance to hit, provided there is a reasonable draw back to compensate. For me , the draw back would be a lower base accuracy, something in the 30-40% range. That means you would need a higher Acc slotting just to break even, but could promise a hit every time at the expense of spotting for other enhancables.

Like I said though, I believe only certain attacks should get this ability. Sniper, AS, and other interuptable attacks. Non-attack powers that have a "need" to hit, such as heals, could probably do with something similar. A lower base accuracy in exchange for a higher (or nonexistent) to-hit cap.

This is by no means an admission that I feel this is a needed change, but is more of a compromise of how I feel it should be implemented, should push come to shove.
  12. So I ended up rolling a Ninja Blade / Ninjitsu Stalker. I ended up picking up Ninja Blade, because after comparing all the numbers of Ninja Blade and Broadsword, I decided that a faster animation was worth the lower overall damage because that would give me a more "active" feel. I chose Ninjitsu over Willpower for the same reason, throw on three toggles, and the rest is combat stuff to make my gaming more "active".

I figured that being "less active" was what drove me away from Stalkers in the first place (not the attack -> hide -> attack, but the feel of having so few attacks for so long in the early game). Having fast acting and fast recharging attacks can mitigate that, and the toys from Ninjitsu can give me extra things to play with.

So thanks again to everyone who has responded with advice, I took it all in and it's really helped me out. My Stalker is only level 11, but so far it's growing nicely.
  13. Thanks to everyone for play style tips and ideas! It's going to be tough for me to get into the Stalker's swing of things.

So on that note, does any one have suggestions for a relatively successful Primary / Secondary mix? Again, I've had a change of heart from Spines and no am thinking of Broadsword / Ninjitsu. I just can't seem to nail down one Stalker as "My Stalker".
  14. Let's see... My Night Widow is named Auto d'Lyt, an anagram of Adult Toy.

    Don't judge her/him!
  15. So, I've played for a long time. And I've tried Stalkers (highest I got was around 26-ish, EM/Dark), but they just have never been for me. They feel off to how I play and I want to change that.

I've nailed down the Primary to Spines, and the secondary... I'm wiggling around on.

I like the idea of both Ninjitsu and Willpower, so those two are my 'primary focus'. Of course there is always wiggle room for both Primary and Secondary if there's enough push for or against something.

I'm really hoping people can give a bit of information on how they play their Stalker (both low and mid-level) so I can get a bit of the mindset I should be in.

Help me, Stalker forum! You're my only hope!
  16. Well nutters. So much for that. I'll have to work the story some other way I suppose.
  17. Is it possible to get active Shadow Cysts in the MA? I have a mission I would like to add them to, but I can not seem to find them in any enemy listings / object destruction lists.

If it's possible to add them, I would love for some idea of where I could find them. And if it's not possible, it would be handy to know that so I can stop my search.

What am I doing wrong? Should I have the human form shields? 'cause I don't.
If you're planning on doing any consistent fighting in Human form, it's a good idea to have at least the Smashing / Lethal shield slotted up and running. You'll probably want to get some KB resistance (in the form of an IO in Absorption) if you can. Your Mez, while usually great, is probably a little lack-luster against the Chimerians, because they resist most Mezzes. This means you should prepare for the long haul if you can.

Is everything dying except your team members? Are you able to preform whatever roll you picked that spawn well? Then BAM! You're covering all the bases! The beauty of the Warshade is that one spawn you can run in and stun everything then focus on the boss, while the very next you could run in and grab all the aggro and hold it, only to rush in next spawn and AoE all the minions and LTs down. It's all a matter of finding which kind of tactic your current teammates required.

Thanks very much, and sorry it was such a long read.
I regret to inform you that slotting for Global Recharge isn't a frakenslotting job. Most sets that have Global Recharge in them usually have it in the 5th or 6th slot. Some might have it in the 4th slot, but those might be more specialty then you can reasonably slot.

But yeah, some of them are quite pricey, but they can be worth it. I've finally gotten about 150% Global Recharge (with Hasten) on my Warshade, and it's just blasted overkill. I'll still be going higher when I can afford to, but just aiming low-ish at 60% or so can really boost the effectiveness by boosting your Shapeshifting attack recharges.
  19. I'm torn. Because my standard is that by level 30, I know if they're a keeper or not. But realistically that's not the truth. I've deleted many high levels because they aren't right somehow (my Claws / SR, for example, was a good one, but I didn't care for it so they got deleted at nearly level 40).

Some I keep for nostalgia. My first 50 (Super Villain) is kept purely because they were my first 50, and even though I now have several that are more effective, more fun, and will never play SV again. Others are kept because they are a work in progress. "a little bunny" is my Purpled Out Warshade. I only need another 7-8 Purples to have 5 full sets, and one partial set. Expect me on the forums with pictures when that long awaited day comes! :P

But all in all, it's not a matter of when I know if one will be a keeper. It's a matter of when I get bored enough of one to delete it and move on. Most of the time that happens no higher then level 30.
  20. For me, I enjoyed the new Positron TF (only ran the first half last night, planning the second later). The custom maps and rewrite of the story was very nice, as well as the new climax in the first half the Positron TF. (I just want to say I took out my double before my team mates took our theirs, I win!)

In the same vein, the two new Hero contacts involving duplicate me was enjoyable, and I'll be flashing back to that quite a bit. It's Merit / Minute ratio seems low compared to others, but it's so enjoyable I can't help it.

I am convinced that someone, possibly a former studio involved with the game, is sending schedules of 2XP weekends to my family members.

It was me. But in my defense, they swore it was so they could play. I had no idea they were really using that schedule to coordinate visit assaults upon you. Honest.

I laugh at this, and it's kind of mean, but without the sentiment and just the facts, it's kind of true too.

The Wolf Spiders (pre-24) are quite amazing, and function very similarly (if not identically) to Crab Spiders. The only real difference is... the arms and the Damage type.
  23. It felt like it got better for my Crab. Once you start getting more of the Secondary powers, you'll feel more solid. If you focus more into the attacks, you can make yourself a Blapper, with solid ranged (the AoEs are nice) and very decent Melee and access to solid defenses and a Self Heal.

The Crab just felt like a lawn mower to me. I do hope you enjoy it!
