my empath is /rad blast...
and i hate it. if i could re-choose my secondary i would. naively when i was first playing i thought that rad's defence reduction would be great... but, lo and behold, i'll be damned if it's ever made a noticeable difference to any bad guys i've fought, in PvE or PvP.
with a different secondary i MAY still enjoy my empath.. but although being a buff bot is fun for a few lvls.. it soon gets old and you want to do something useful. Psi and dark would be my main choices as they have useful side effects, even though the post-ED damage is pretty darned poor. -
someone said IR doesnt root you anymore...
does on my kin def... which is odd, cause the patch notes implied that IR would be one of the powers which would no longer root you.
personally, i had ss until lvl 22. then i used a freespec to drop ss for IR and sell all my old enhances. IR is fine as a travel power. i did have hover briefly on the toon, but decided to drop it so i could work on the leadership pool.
my only gripe with the kinetics set... is that when i swap toons i keep thinking sprint is turned off cause they're moving so damnably slow. -

iirc it was the same with all pool powers originally, but they fixed them all and forgot about khelds pools =D -
i agree that squishies should try and stay out of AoEs as much as possible, it makes sense cause if your support team gets killed by AoEs then even the best built tanks and scrappers can get overwhelmed.
but back to the original question: i do understand why some people are a bit wary of stone tanks, with my kin def it does get irritating when a tank shouts for speedy, mid battle whilst you're in the process of doing other equally useful things... like healing or buff/debuffing.
As a general rule i prefer tanks to herd, especially for fulcrum shift as it makes the whole mob seem trivial if you land a big shift on them, whereas with a dispersed mob it will take longer to kill beacuse fs wont hit as many. also i think it is very useful for a tank to tell you if he is herding, and where the herd will be to.
and, in reference to whomever said they should let the scrapper die; personally i wouldnt let him die per se, however he would most likey be the last on my list of people to heal were there more than one person in trouble.
defending is all about priorities, and what is best for the team comes first. if its best for the team that you don't get yourself killed, then by all means stay a bit back. however if you NEED to run in to drop that life saving buff/heal.. then your personal safetly comes last. they wouldnt make awakens if you werent supposed to faceplant occasionally, would they? -

...you get blamed for team wipeouts.. beacuse the team ignores you telling them not to aggro the cyst crystal around the corner..

i've gone with pretty standard builds for both toons. human only PB (tho considering bi-form dwarf/human) only pool i have is fitness. as much as it pains me to say it, without three end reds in each power, you need stamina in an all human build. i have three slotted stamina and one end red in each power and still run out of end in protracted fights.
my WS is your standard tri-form.... tp, eclipse, double mire, blast-the-****-outta-them-in-nova, stygian circle, repeat. but i also have a few of the human powers, especially the auras for PvP. the joy of getting tp'd by the enemy for them to then discover you have a disorient aura...
my ws is a blaster, my PB is a blapper (but more emphasis on the scrapper side) both are designed as primarily damage dealers, and the only pools they have are leaping (for acro), speed (for hasten, and for the invis from SS with shadow cloak), and fitness(for stamina). although, when i can next respec i'm gonna drop somethign on my ws and get aid self, cause the ws heals suck big style (except stygian, but thats useless in PvP) -
well, my PB is only lvl26 atm, but....
...personally i'd drop ss, Proton Scatter and Luminous Detonation.. and get cj, sj and acro. gives u KB protection and some limited mez protection
i'd add more than just recharges into LF, and get build up much earlier if you want the build to scale well when exemped.

seems ok to me mate if you want tri-form. the jury is still out a bit on pulsar, personally i'd take solar flare there instead.
slotting, i'd stick 3dam res 3end mod in dwarf and 3toHit 3EndMod in nova. all nova attacks i'd slot up first if you're using it as a main damage power, starting with the AoEs. from what u say u'r only using dwarf in bad situations, so maybe slotting the heal and flare first there.
with the toHit enhances in nova form itself you wont need the accuracies. my ws had 3*tohit in nova and rarely missed.

any 'clicky' power will carry over into your forms if used in human.. so that's hasten, build up and essence boost so far for you.
basically any power where you click it, and then it starts recharging, but the power is still working on you. toggles and auto-powers don't transfer.

well, does anyone know why the animation for quantum sheild is called:
POWERS/COSMICPOWERS/PEACEBRINGER/RESISTMEZ/RESISTMEZ.FX
cause... that kinda says to me that it was originally intended as a mez shield.. can't quite put my finger on which part of the animation name gives it away though...
i presume the mez protect part got removed before pb's went live, but it'd be interesting if it was originally programmed in... -

if that were the case, then damage insps/buffs should make heals better.... thats one of the really irritating things about being an empath. you don't need acc or damage insps, cause they have no effect to any of ur primaries..
thats kinda why i liked gettin power boost as an epic, cause it meant that post-ED i can still fully heal a stone tank if need be.. not that there ever is any need to do that...but just incase... =D -

cause i noticed the other day when making a /demorecord that quantum shield's animation alludes to being mez protection. but it isn't.
just out of interest, did khelds ever have mez protect in their energy shields? and why did they take it out, if so? -

i don't doubt i would, but it's only been used in maximum PvP teams of three... and i know the slotting aint great, but i'm more PvE than PvP based anyways. in PvE, this is pretty much spot on for my playstyle.
this build is also the one i tried after i6... it's a bit diffrent these days... -

yeah, but if he's going for power epic, he gets conserve power... which you can alternate happily with RA and never have any end problems. no-one NEEDs stamina. if you have three powers to spare, by all means go for it.... if not, there are ways and means to get around end problems.
also, as an emp/rad i can safely say that rad blast is ridiculously weak. it's pitiful. so that'd be [censored] for an empath offender, cause it just doesnt do any damage. maybe with rad debuffs on an enemy it does.... but without....
if i could change my secondary, i would. no hesitation... -
Not meaning to offend the OP, but why are you ASKING for stuff to be nerfed?
have we not had enuf nerfs as it is?? it's a pool power... if you feel it's overpowered, take it yourself, and laugh at all the people who don't have it and wonder why you are owning them. but pleeeeeease can we not beg for nerfs?
If i get beaten up by a troller, it doesn't mean i want them to nerf holds... -
now, i dunno much about PvP, but if u'r goin for power mastry pool, why not get conserve power?
my empath survived in PvE with no end problems using RA and conserve, with hasten running and no end reduxs WITHOUT stamina. personally i hate stamina. why waste three powers, just to get the ONE you want?

now, i've done some PvP with this build in arena, but not much in PvP zones. so i dunno how well it fares out there. but for PvE it's pretty much spot on how i like him. even doing tf's exemped to below conserve power i havent noticed any end problems. i only use conserve as a panic button if my end gets low on AVs or whatever when RA is down. -
i discovered pure evil the other day. nicely doing missions, and was on one of the ones where the only bad guys are 7th gen PPs.

ok... the pb and ws inherant powers.... do they actually do anything?
I know what they are supposed to do, but i can't say i've ever noticed any difference wether i'm teamed with 5 tanks or 5 blasters. and how many trollers do you need in the team to get anything approaching mez protection? -

why?
from my experiance in PvP the RAs are god. it makes you (and team) virtually untouchable.
on a second note, when my brute got held it was pre-i7, by a same lvl ice/nrg blaster with that ice bolt thing. there was no stacking from other players cause it was in the arena. it was the fist attack he'd use each time i respawned and retoggled, and it held me every time.
also i took on a blaster solo with my new build and lost 3-2 with my final death being in literally the last second of the match. my only issue with that was endurance problems when RA was down, that and her breaking out of hold when on about 5hp and slaughtering me in seconds thanks to defiance -
i've had a void, cyst and AV in same room. not the same spawn, but close enuf so any aggro on the other groups caused the cyst to spawn.
and that is the precise reason i love self-rez...
must admit tho, i do enjoy taking on dark nova/dark dwarves. theres something cool about watching two squids shoot at each other from side on view
although the placement of them does occasionally seem a bit odd, and has anyone else noticed you can spend weeks withpout seeing nictus, then get a day where theres a nova or dwarf every other spawn? -
and you can still hold through res to holds anyway iirc..

heh... thats not to mention i have a fire brute too...which got held through plasma shield, acrobatics and two break frees by a blaster....
i think PvP hates me.
i have acro, and invis, and leadership btw... only problem is that most people i fight seem to toggle drop or have stuns.. and as soon as i'm stunned i'm dead.
side note: i dont want to do support role in PvP. if all i'm doing is healing a team, thats all i've been doing for 50lvls in PvE, and it really isn't something which i enjoy anymore. -
yeah. had PvP existed in i3, i would definately have rolled a different toon...but it didnt...
and my build isn't geared to offence. its still the same primary setup i've always used, which owns for teaming, but generally in PvP i've never found teams to be much use unless you are going around ganking people, which doesnt strike me as being great fun tbh.. -
This is a change that people had been asking for for a while. This will reduce debt in PvP zones.
The point of PvP zones is PvP, if you are fighting another player and an npc lands the final blow then you used to get full debt. now you don't. That was one of the few things that stopped me from PvP before. WOOT.
If you were fighting NPCs and a player landed the last hit you didnt used to get debt, now you do. the zones are for PvP after all, not PvE. and this change encourages PvP and discourages farming NPCs -

I dunno if this should be in the PvP section or not... but i figured it's more a defender question.
i'm empathy/rad blast. using auto heal aura, and both RA's i get quite good regen....BUT.. still get owned by everything. I have psi mastry epic, in the hope of being able to mez blasters... but discovered to my dismay yesterday that apparently they don't do very much (even when slotted for accuracy and mez)... well, it did hold a blaster with no mez protection, but only after i'd died would it hold him. before then he was still able to attack me...
all i want to be able to do is take on a blaster! the best i managed so far was losing 6-1 to an elec/elec.
Tried on a scrapper..... even with all my blasts 3*slotted for damage, 1* acc, 2* recharge i managed to get her health down by a whopping 10%, whilst she stood there using the dance emote over and over again...
i'm tempted to give up, but when all the post 50 content seems to revolve around PvP, i don't have much else to do with him -
oh yeah, rememebr to make a bind to warn the team you are MoGing. save a LOT of confusion...
