Ageing empath in need of advice

Hello, my ageing empath has reached another free respec, having gone though many forms and never being totaly happy i though i would see if i could get some help.
i have taken more travel powers that i normaly would, but i think they serve a purpose. Wanted recal friend early, so needed teleport, hover and air sup is to keep me relatively safe in PvP zones, they also deal with knockback and imobalisation, super speed was taken as its handy in pvp (i think) and didnt need much slotting (cant give much to whatever 49 power u pick)
any help with power choices whould be great and help with enhancements would be even better as i think ive over slotted some powers as i couldnt think where they would do best.

The build below will work very well in both PvE and PvP.

Havent taken fly since theres simply too many counters to fly for my taste.

If you really want recall friend I guess you could take it instead of Aim.

Fort Pliz archy

I'd recommend sticking some more ranges on clear mind. I wouldn't bother with aim on an empath it isn't needed at all as none of the primaries require a tohitcheck.

NEVER 4 slot anything anymore, it's not worth it. Put 3 Rch and 3 Heal in Heal other.

Don't put a range in TP Friend.
3 Range, 2 End Rdx in Teleport
Don't really need to slot Air Sup... In fact, don't really need it.
Just a recharge in Res
2/2/2 for AB
3 DMG, 2 Rch, 1 Acc in most attacks
3 End mod in Recovery Aura, not 2
3 Heal in Reg Aura, not 2
2/2/2 for Fortitude.

Needs quite a lot of work imo...

It depends when you want to use that TP Friend. If you want to go in the shards then range in TP Friend is a good thing...

TP only needs 3 range, EndRdx is not necessary, especially as an empath since you have RA.
AB provides a HUGE recovery boost, EndMod is unnecessary, 3 rech 3 heal is the optimum slotting.
RA's both cost a decent amount of endurance to activate, and especially recovery aura doesn't really need 3 EndMod.
Fortitude has a BIG ToHit buff, no point putting more than 1 ToHit in it.

The buff is so much ( 25% IIRC ) that it pretty much caps anyone's to hit against purple minions unless they have really silly slotting. If someone is so low level that they need it for the to hit buff, they are probably going to need the defence more. I wouldn't even slot it with one.

I know...but there really wasn't much else to take so I figured for the odd moment when you decide to Total Focus someone it might aswell be with Aim and Build Up first

[/ QUOTE ]Personally, I only put range in the defaault slot, but that's still not enough in some of the biggest zones. The range of recall friend is 10,000 feet.

Despite the many comments about Fly not being good in PvP because of all the -Fly going around, the few Empaths I've seen and really rate in PvP use Fly. I've gone through several builds without it on my Empath, but the more I started to go into PvP zones, the more I realised I needed it - slotted Hover is just nowhere near fast enough. So I've gone with Fly AND TP - Fly for moving around to heal and buff people, and TP for long-distance travel, and as an escape power. You can TP even when immobed and when there's -Fly on you, so you'll get away from the Spines users with Impale that are so prevalant in PvP. If you TP when someone has started an AS on you, you can be half a zone away and healing yourself by the time the damage comes through.

I have both Hover and Air Sup, as well. I switch to Hover whenever I'm not moving around so much to conserve endurance. Air Sup isn't slotted for damage - it's just for knocking people who are chasing me out of the air. I don't have recharges in it either, because using it for that, there's no need to have it back right away, really.

Looking at slotting... I wouldn't bother with the endmod in AB, I've yet to see anyone but an I4 Dark/Dark Scrapper get through the endurance from an unslotted AB. (I don't really bother much with endmods in RA, either.) If you slot it with three heal, especially if you also have Regen Aura slotted with three heal, you can put them both on someone and have a temporary Regen. Even with with Power Build Up beforehand. It's fantastic in both PvP and PvE - I've used it to turn my boyfriend's SR Scrapper into an AV tank, and make his Ar/Dev Blaster nearly unkillable in the face of two MMs and a load of turrets in Recluse's Victory.

I slot Fortitude as you have, 3 recharge/2 def/1 tohit - the tohit is really for PvP. I always used to go with 3 def until I started PvPing more.

Recall Friend I have an Interrupt Reduction in, to try and shorten the time it takes in case I need to use it to save someone, and nothing else. I've run into the range limit once in well over a year, and it's always avoidable by just stopping and TPing someone part way, and then TPing them again. I feel it's not enough of an irritation to deserve a slot. I can't think of a situation where I've ever felt a recharge in it would have saved someone, and I'm happy to wait the extra 1.7 seconds or so for it to come back up. At high levels I rarely find myself TPing multiple people, anyway.

Three accs and a knockback in Power Push seems like overkill, but the knockback could be funny. Mine just has two accs in it, though.

Some of those extra slots in Power Push and Air Sup could always go into Power Bolt - seems to me like if you're going to start slotting it, you might as well get the other damages into it. There have been times in PvP where someone's escaped my teammates with a tiny bit of health left, and a small, ranged attack would have done the trick.

Recharges in Clear Mind are another option - it's fairly slow when Hasten is down, especially when you have 6 teammates who all want it so they can see people in PvP.

Worth noting, all my PvP experience is in the zones, not the Arena - I've no doubt that the way I have my Empath built and tend to play her would be instant death on a small, indoor map, so take that into account if you like the Arena.

now, i dunno much about PvP, but if u'r goin for power mastry pool, why not get conserve power?

my empath survived in PvE with no end problems using RA and conserve, with hasten running and no end reduxs WITHOUT stamina. personally i hate stamina. why waste three powers, just to get the ONE you want?

now, i've done some PvP with this build in arena, but not much in PvP zones. so i dunno how well it fares out there. but for PvE it's pretty much spot on how i like him. even doing tf's exemped to below conserve power i havent noticed any end problems. i only use conserve as a panic button if my end gets low on AVs or whatever when RA is down.

Whilst I dont' agree with your slotting in a few powers, it's an OK build if you're duo'ing in the Arena or in the Zones. But in lager teams at the top end of the PvP ladder, you'll have issues.

definately agree, i've done a stupid amount of pvp with shaman and have gone through many builds and my current build IMO is the best possible, the only possible change wud be fly for ss but im backed up by a kin so ss isnt needed for me and its only needed when web grenaded, anyway altho i say i think its perfect feel free to pick holes

i don't doubt i would, but it's only been used in maximum PvP teams of three... and i know the slotting aint great, but i'm more PvE than PvP based anyways. in PvE, this is pretty much spot on for my playstyle.

this build is also the one i tried after i6... it's a bit diffrent these days...
