Particularly with powerset proliferation: that always makes me go "FINALLY they made that powerset! I wouldn't have slaved away with this other powerset if that one had been available!"
I would spend points or even cash for an AT change token.

Here's why: I have a tank that used to be my main before the Focused accuracy ..uh..."balance" ... <.< that has a badge title that can't be gotten anymore.

That tank is supposed to be a brute.

..OR some nice dev could just give the Brute I have in mind that badge...

  3. I got my brutes fury to go up to 100%, if only briefly, Iv'e never seen that before.

Have the six slots in blazing aura.

I have to say this is very nice.

I agree, all brutes need this set.

now if we could only get an extra free slot granted.

I ultra despise the respec process.

edit: that 100% is not correct. I respec'd into a more survivable build. The highest I have been able to proc my fury was 89% <still higher than norm> I think my mouse might have slipped over my end bar, leading me to believe that it went 100%.

edit2: further weighing it out and testing, this set is only good for the set bonuses. not for the fury generation proc. good thing I went to test it on beta before getting all expensive on live.
  4. At least we got those new shift, ctrl, alt functions when editing. I can't begin to tell Paragon Studios how much I love appreciate and am grateful for that. I don't want to tell you what I went through to convince them to put those in.

In i22 we are getting hacked tpads, also very grateful for that.

Until this game has the budget of a certain 800lb gorilla, I don't think we will be seeing mega investments or changes of the likes for quite some time. Small ones here and there, yes.

This is a pick and choose your battles wisely kinda thing.

Again, Thank you everyone at Paragon Studios for all your hard work and efforts.

I greatly appreciate all of it.
  5. Upkeep can be paid only by vip subscribers, so I'm thinking the way they have things set up we won't be seeing an auto-pay feature.

  6. the idea behind me being so adamantly against this pack is not just because it is so gambling esque' but because of all the potential problems and complications I see that can come from it. An expensive <dare I say> lawsuit brought up by a concerned parent, GROUP of parents, or disgruntled ex-employee<s?> would have the potential to wreak havoc on the budget for this game and it's current employees. I see this. Me. Maybe not every cheerleader in the squad. Just me. What would really be damaging about this is public opinion. if something of a lawsuit get on the news in any form that points fingers to this game for embracing a gambling mechanic that minors have access to... that's where the real damage is going to come from. Which is the bottom line why I'm so against this.

Even if the legal team has the legs to stand on, the rules to hide behind, the angles covered <I hope they do>... that won't change public opinion.

In the end, that public opinion is what really matters.

It's not something that's going to come out in the wash.

Iv'e made my noise. Baiting me with questions pointing to tailored answers isn't going to change the way I feel about this. Not one bit.

I got this far in the thread, please enlighten me, bots nerf? what gives?
  8. the technology is definitely not perfect. Saying people are whining when they are reasonably voicing their opinions and experiences after they gave up money, well... that's just hostile.

    why so hostile?

Still, though... way too much god damn money.
one of the biggest problems that I saw when I was a slot tech was people leaving money in machines, we were switching to a coinless format, so the currency was converted into a voucher. Odd amounts were allowable and that's where the problems of perception played heavily. adding to that casinos are designed to be disorienting. Customers would often go to play a $1.00 machine with an odd amount, typically 200.00 plus an odd amount, like $0.25 the machine would take the $200.00 and spit out a $0.25 ticket. Because the machine immediately spit out a ticket, they would think the machine was faulty, and leave to find another machine. The customer, often in a state of bewilderment, would overlook the amount on the ticket and the fact that the machine still had the credits in queue. countless times I had to tell a customer, "Sorry, the history on this machine tells me someone cashed it out" <and probably hit the door with it>. customers fault, right? Laws sat yes, it's the customers fault... right? Here's what matters: NOT to them. I lost count on the times that I have been accosted in public places, restaurants, malls, movie theaters, for being the guy that "took their money" it downright got to a point where I couldn't even go to toys r us to browse consoles.

My point, a little clarity on the descriptions of said items goes further than one would think. Especially when you are making efforts to keep tabs on your inventory. More moving parts, more that can go wrong.

I'm not entirely bashing this new thing, It's not one bit of my business or concern how people chose to spend their money -however- anyone else get a "taint of gambling" feeling to this?
  10. In the past, pissing off the players hasn't really stopped them from making changes, there's too many variables for me to be specific.

In this particular case I'd vote to change it, or at least get a decent poll and see if the majority would tolerate a change.

I really don't see what it could hurt.
  11. For the price that we paid on the last 3d movie we saw we kept the friggin' glasses. Will be reusing them in the future, if there is a future.

The 3-d experience ruined alot of the motion we were expecting to see, blurring out millions of dollars worth of special effects, cg and detail.

Alot of the scenes, motion was so obscure and difficult to tell what was going on, had we not already seen it in 2-d we would have been lost.

    Friggin' Star Wars. Bleh.

We are gonna pass on 3-d Ghost Rider.

I should have spent the money on another months sub but baby had cabin fever and I can't win any arguments with baby.

edit: the opening logos were better 3-d than the movie!
  12. Iv'e seen in other games when outdated powersets get updates making them more relevant.

In this game the best thing I can say about that particular power is...

    ...dated power is dated.

  13. my advice is to <oh god>

    wait for development...

Back when we could briefly decorate doorways, I found a bug that would allow you to move your sg entrance portal outside of the base building area.

It was un-fixable once broken and upon zoning into your sg you would... fall... forever...

other than completely opening or almost closing the doorways there's not much else you can do... but wait for further base related developments that will provide an update for decorating doorways.

I know this doesn't help but its all I have.

edit: well I say that's all I have, one workaround is you can "decor" the entrances to rooms to actually "strip down" to bare walls and whatnots- for a sort of transition, but I'm sure that is not what you are looking for.

I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.

I'm calling your bluff - because bluff it is - you know it and I know it.

It's Put Up or Shut Up time.

(To the Mods/Devs/etc... if this post is out of line, I apologize and will willingly accept whatever ramifications result.)
Who is bluffing? and about what? and whats with this "get out of the game" talk? and yeah, you are out of line, by telling me to shut up. I'm trying to protect a thing I care about <this game, this company> because I don't want anyone getting into trouble.

    but anyways...

If the devs -really- want to keep me out of...their hare...they can do so very easily...

... by keeping me busy with new base development goodies

If we were talking about cracker jacks, then I wouldn't be bothered.

If we were talking about a mechanic that very much has the potential to arouse addictive behavior, well... you get the idea.

    Snicker away.

At least in the United States, in every jurisdiction I'm aware of, an act requires three separate elements to be considered gambling. It requires consideration for a random chance at a prize. And those three terms are themselves legally defined to be a monetary entry fee (consideration), non-deterministic random probability (random chance) and an award of specific monetary value above a certain nominal amount. And its not enough to claim the prize can be bought. It must intrinsically have monetary value. The prize in Cracker Jacks is of course technically worth something and you could theoretically buy them on ebay, but that would not meet the requirements for gambling.

None of the prizes in the Super Packs have actual monetary value: you can't sell them back to NCSoft for money, and NCSoft does not allow you by the terms of their usage agreement to sell them for money. That means any exchange of those prizes for money would itself be illegal, and NCSoft is not responsible for such activity.

People keep bringing up gambling in the legal sense in the context of these Super Packs, but that argument has exactly zero legal foundation.
Until someone actually -has- the merit to MAKE a legal foundation. If you give them an inch, they will take a foot. There is no, "should have been familiar" here. I know what I'm talking about, addictive behavior will be involved. Iv'e seen this in grown ups, Iv'e seen this in children. This isn't speculation it's a very real thing. Like I said, I'm biased. I'm quite biased. I hope those laws serve their purpose to protect Paragon Studios and its employees. I hope some poor unfortunate mother doesn't find out one day that her kids managed to blow the rent for those cards. I hope something like THAT doesn't get spread all over the internet. That wouldn't look too good, would it? "Paragon Studios enabled a form of digital pseudo gambling to ruin someones life." I hope it doesn't begin to involve lawyers and 1800-gamblingproblem hotline disclaimers. I hope it doesn't come around to bite anyone in the ***. I hope it doesn't but I know it will. It always DOES. You can quote all the pseudo rules you want to defend this gambling by proxy. Go right ahead. You can bash me all you want for my opinions and hide behind whatever smiles, smirks and snickering you want. Go right ahead. doesn't bother Hassenpheffer. not.one.bit. I know addictive behavior. I know what it can do, I know the lengths it will go through for a handlepull, or a card roll.

My bottom line: Be very careful Paragon Studios.

  19. I might be a bit biased, because in my career before my home business I was a <gasp>

    ...slot technician.

Yeah. I worked at a casino, for 5 years, and I was really good at what I did <still am>. I repaired slot machines. I know more about slot machines both analog and digital than I'll ever be comfortable admitting. I know how they work, the ins, the outs, the ups, the downs. all of it.

I also know about many different levels of addictive behavior and how things like slots can very easily <and quietly> bring out the worst in good <mostly young> people.

There's a level of interaction and a fine line to watch when dealing with gaming devices, Typically mmo's are well equipped to AVOID gambling by reward tables that are easy to track.

These cards immediately crossed that line.

I'm not about to tell anyone how to spend their money.

    Thing is...Minors play this game...

What are the laws about gambling involving minors?
  20. ever since PS hired those devs from wow things have been getting and looking better, I can only imagine what they would do for bases. I'd like to know what input they have. Very curious!

Actually, I think it would be quite difficult. I also think it would be very resource intensive, which is why I was trying to get a better understanding on how possible it would be. I don't even know how much the income for PS has increased, or if the current budget and staff would be enough to even attempt something like that. then again, I have no idea, which is why I asked.
