This is my first attempt at a Perma PA build. My Ill/Rad is currently level 19. I plan on taking the time to make her great. As I am leveling her through content, I would like a leveling build. That said, the build I am gonna post is not. I realize the slotting is a bit out of order. That may even go for power choices as well. The point of this post is to find out if the end result is good. I slotted the way I did because I already have the two purple sets needed sitting in my base. I didnt want to rely on any other purples as I am not all that wealthy. Looking at this build, do you see any flaws in slotting or power choices?(excluding the order)

After playing my blaster to level 10, I realized I was looking at things a bit wrong. (that is wrong for my tastes) I had tried to mix range and melee equally early on. With no defenses and no real mitigation this ended in many faceplants. So I decided to ditch the level 10 blapper mentality and look at things in a fresh way. That led me to think of Static King as a range blaster from level 1-20. A blapper from level 20-30. A blaptroller at level 30+. This allowed me to build for max recharge(ditching defense for Aid Self). It also allowed me to build my toon to concept I think.(IE Lightning Field and Sparky) Here is the build. Please let me know what ya all think.

Umm, what should you look forward to?

lol Seriously though, this was my first level 50. You are gonna pump out AoE damage and mop up with ST damage. You have it all. Well maybe except any mitigation. You are gonna have issues in the midlevel game with taking damage. Dont let it scare ya off. Its all good. I went for Softcapped S/L defence. its worked wonders. What server are you on? I would love to team with ya sometime and just spam the awesome. -
Reread my OP and thought it was a bit vague. I didn't really clearly state what I was looking for. To that ends let me try that again.
I am wondering with the END drain of Power Sink and Short Circuit, how much defense is needed and what types.
I am curious as to what kind of recharge people have found sufficient in the build and on the individual powers(again primarily PS and SC).
I know the debate about Lightning Field is hot. I have decided it is advantageous as far as keeping up DPS. That is at least at lower levels before significant recharge allows me to hit faster. I dont know how I will feel at higher levels.
Electric Fence: Is it worth slotting up for the bonuses and prolonging its immob effects?

Its been one year since I started playing this amazing game. I have created so many toons and deleted almost just as many. I only now feel like I am getting the hang of this game. My first toon I ever created was an Elec/Elec blaster, Static King. I loved that guy. He sputtered around level 25 or so. I then rolled a Fire/devices toon. Again, he sputtered out. Then came my first 50, my Fire/Elec blaster. Ahh Elemental Spark, my beautiful friend. The times we have shared. But I digress. Feeling somewhat nostalgic, I have rerolled Static King and am level 10 currently. Once again, I have no idea what to build him into. I mostly solo/duo with a RL friend who has a penchant for tanks and trollers who think they are tanks.
Could someone please point me down the right path with my shiny new Elec/Elec blaster.

Alrighty! After much soul searching, long walks in the desert, and one wierd encounter with a coyote chasing some kind odd lookin bird, I have come up with a build I think will work with my playstyle(not that I have a Defender-playstyle this being my first). I have read some of the comments about not taking archery. Thats cool. I appreciate the warning. Though as a concept character, I am not looking to min/max this toon.
Here are some of the reasons for my power choices. I know that they are largely situational. Thats fine. I wanted to build a toon that may not use every power all the time but would have a utility belt to draw from when the need arises. That said, I took repulsion field(I have heard a lot of bad about this power) at level 28 for uses on mishes such as the Terra Volta Reactor. Is it necessary? Prolly not but neither are Bat-shaped (Insert weapon of choice). Keeping the baddies off of defendable objects just sounds useful. I also took Detention Field, another power I have heard a lot of hating on. I took it late as I have heard its nice effect on the towers in the Statesman TF. Again, Detention Field and Repulsion field on the towers will take them out of commission. Repulsion Bomb. hmm I have heard varying opinions on this one. I took it as an opener. Slotted for stun, I hope it will Knockdown and keep them dazed till my mates can wipe them out.
Why all the explanation? Simply, I have never played a toon like this before. I want to learn from all of you. I know I am to be a buff-bot but I feel like the toon could be so much more in different situations. Anyways, here is the build submitted for your approval.

I created a FF/Archery Defender today. She is still in Outbreak at the moment. While it looks intriguing, I wanted to ask the group if they see any issues with this particular combo. This will be my first defender I actually put any effort into. All others stall after the sewer run. (sadly) Anyways, As a Flight based toon, has anyone had success/nightmarish failure with this combo? I look forward to hearing your tales or joy and/or woe.

Hey btw, does it matter what level I slot all these enhancements? I really enjoy running TFs and that means a lot of exemping. Should I bother slotting my enhancements at a lower level to make sure I keep them or will that be unneccesary?

Ok, How's this? I clicked View active Sets but I dont know how to fix that without losing other desired benefits(whether thats set bonuses or just the enhancement values). Any suggestions on fixing the various sets that exceed the 5 limit rule without taking one step forward two back?

I have been trying to come up with a decent build for a long time on this guy. I come from a blaster background and really have no experience with tanks. I have read all the posts and have tried to incorporate the suggestions. Though I have been known to be a bit thick in the past, so here is the new build. Feel free to poke holes in it as I want the best Tank I can build. You might notice that I switched to Flame Mastery. This is nothing more than a style choice(though I do like that I can have an endgame attack chain of Fire Ball, Frozen Aura, Freezing Touch, Frozen Aura, Fireball for the win.) I have been working in mids for quite a while now, trying to come up with a decent Ice/Ice Tank. Having played Abominable Snowbeast to level 41 I feel I have a good handle on playstyle. With the nerfing of BotZ, I decided to try respeccing my blaster Elemental Spark. I wanted to keep him soft-capped on S/L defense while gaining some more utlity from the build. Dropping maneuvers for Stealth allowed me to that a bit think.(notice I kept a celerity+stealth IO in sprint for those times I exemp) I made a lot of changes to the various sets I took. In doing so, I managed to hit the HP cap(with hoarfrost). Recharge is up, end use is down, Recovery is up, and all my powers are hitting much harder than before. All that said, I wanted to ask you all if you saw any way I could take it just that much further or make it just a little more efficient. Without further ramblings, here is the build.

I found myself sitting in the waiting room at my local car dealer today. They had an outdated dinosaur that allowed me to catch up on some forum reading. I appreciate the feedback guys. (also wanna apologize for the several posts...was talking in-game with a friend and using the forum to show her my ideas.) Anyways, the topic of defense was something I was worried about. The recharge kept getting in my face though. When I get home I will take a look at that build. Thanks for posting it. I plan on soloing mostly with this toon. I tend only to team for things like TFs and raids. Having never played a hover-style blaster, I am very curious as to how you guys set up your attack chains and mold your killing fields. I started tinkering with this build a while back and never really got to far with it. I have been focusing on my Fire/elec blaster for the last few months. Anyways, This is the "dream build" I came up with. I wanted to post it to see if it held up to the critique of all you fine people. Howdy,
I am looking for a nice gamepad to use in CoH. I would like to be able to neatly assign as many functions to a key as possible and only use the mouse for interacting with the environment. Having a butterfly design for directional keys is a plus. I generally set up my attack powers in tray 1 and my defensive powers in tray2. If this can be translated to the gamepad all the greater.
So has anyone found a really nice gamepad they enjoy using? -
Vesuvius Avenger is currently level 32. I really like this build(as noted Shield Defense, Stone Melee). However, I am finding myself running into serious Endurance issues(not a big surpise). Also my current build reflects a huge lack of knowledge in various things such as ED, actual playstyle of a tank(mostly play blasters),etc. I created this toon in the height of AE farming and shelved him at level 30 just as quick as I was rapidly cycling toons during that time. Dusting him off, and wanting to make him viable I am looking at a respec(seriously, I didnt even take buildup and I have acrobatics instead of my primary's KB protection)
So with all that background out of the way, I am looking for a solid, damage build that makes best usage of SOs or generic IOs. I dont have much INF to spare at the moment. I generally solo but like to team as well, especially on TFs. So power choices by level is a big deal for me. I have learned a few things since I created this toon but I would really like your help. I thank you in advance. Help make Vesuvius Avenger the best Tank he can be.
