For any that have tested it, does Lightning Clap do knockdown or knockback on even level or higher mobs???
??? -
[ QUOTE ]
Just hit 32 tonight and all i can say is Lightning Rod is hands down the coolest (looking) power evr to come out of CoX.
The animation starts with the MoG fist pump follwed by the teleportation, and finishes with the Nova/Inferno animation, all in a fairly short span of time. Now since i only just got the power and have only acc. slotted, i can't say exactly how the damage will be, but it's not all that bad un-slotted (hit an even level minion for 123 damage w/o BU). also has decent KnockBACK (wish it were KnockDOWN but meh, whaddya gonna do?)
[/ QUOTE ]
I really hope the knock back was on lower level mobs.
Question:
Was the knock back on even level mobs and higher or lower???
The description on the power sepecifically says knock down. Granted you can slot knocback in it, and if you do they will really be knocked back, but in most cases brutes do not want knock back.
This brings out a second question that I posted earlier and still have not gotten any info.
Does anyone have Lightning Clap and can tell me for sure if it is knock back or knock down on even level mobs and higher?
Any info on these would be cool - I was busy all weekend and had very little time to get on test. My electric brute on there is only level 13 atm... busy schedules makes it hard to find time. -

Oh, and you people arguing about Grounded, you do realize that -Jump and -Fly make no thematic sense, right?"I do not think that word means, what you think it means."
[/ QUOTE ]
You do realize the power is called "Grounded" meaning "in contact with the ground to harmlessly transport electricity to the ground." How is -jump and -fly not in line with the theme?
[/ QUOTE ]
Acutally, if they could write the code for it it would be really cool if.....:
Grounded only gave you knockback protection when your on the ground. I.e. if your flying, jumping, tping.. whatever you would not be protected, but if you are flat on the ground...you are. Not sure if they could code that in properly though.
You could still leave it as an inate ability in that it only gives the protection on a limited basis and is not your full status protection - so your main status protection could still be knocked off. -
Two things:
*** If they are gonna throw in End Drain and End Recovery into the attacks it would be nice to add a little more to the end recovery - or add it to more attacks. Elec Melee is nice overall, but if they add a bit more End Recovery it will help more of the Secondaries you put it with. It does not need to be a huge amount, but anything that will make the climb up to Stamina less painful would be very welcome at this point.
*** This is a question for any who have managed to get high enough to test it out.... Is Lightning Clap knockdown or knockback on even level and higher mobs??? I dont mind the knockback on lower levels, but it would be way cool to have a knockdown to add to what the set already has (kind of like fault in Stone as opposed to Hand Clap from super strength). -

Can someone please post screenshots (preferably) of Chain Induction or describe in depth what it looks like?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a palm strike like Energy Transfer, lightning zaps from enemy to enemy.
Or go to Nerva and say Hi to the Brute who keeps yelling SHAZAM and hitting lightning rod.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can you tell me if Llightning Strike is knockdown or knockback on even level mobs and higher? -
Ok, got my level 40 brute logged on in daylight so I could see something and was not lagging too bad.
I had a hard time trying to figure out where to go and where not to go.
I found the plates that describe the patrons but did not find the patrons themselves.
I did find the Rikti Ambassador, and at least he was willing to offer me missions. I dont know how anyone is suppose to find him except by luck or word of mouth.
I also found a spider who would talk to you but he said he did not trust me. Wanted me to take out a Toxic Spider to increase his trust. I went over, killed one (purple boss and fell down 3 levels in the process) but it didnt change what he said. Supposedly his trust level never changed. Dont know if this is a glitch or what. I will have to try it again later today.
I did manage to zone out of grandville but almost disc. in the process. -
Not only that, but imagine what a one or two high level brutes will do to your xp as they zip thru a mission killing everything in their path.
It will easily speed up the process, especially when you throw in the occasional mayhem mission. -
I heard that thunderstrike knocks down even con and higher - when it hits.
Any word yet on Lightning Clap - knockdown would be glorious. knockback would be a pain -

just add +Res Knockbac, -Fly, -Jump to grounded =\ plzthxkluvubai

Given that Grounded is an auto power that you can't turn off, I think that's a really bad idea to restrict your travel options in such a way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agree. Besides, KB protection in an auto-power is highly unlikely, especially considering the Devs didn't provide it for a reason.

this would really bring back the tele-tanks (er brutes).... shudders -

It appears I'm trapped in Grandville. I can't enter missions in Grandville nor can I leave on the ferry
[/ QUOTE ]
I have been playing CoH and CoV since beta days and must say Grandville is both the coolest and most confusing place I have ever been in to get around.
Granted I was in a heavy lag mode, but having mobs all over that will take you down and having clickable people tell you that they can't help you was all of no help to me.
I reckon I will have to log back on and see what I can do in terms of moving around. I did run into the Rikti Ambassador that offers missions, but since I had a hard time getting anywhere in grandville with the lag I held off. I wanted to spend a bit more time just looking around.
I did find the plaques that describe the patron powers - that was cool. I also found an elevator up that promptly got my backside wacked from the attacks I was taking...hmmm dont go up there yet.
Overall I like the look.
Overall getting around is a bit confusing.
Hopefully less lag on my next try. -

Sorry somewhere in the last 12 pages I completely missed the "holes" mentioned...
Though I don't like that "they can be filled with the right pool powers" comment...makes it sound like every Elec/Elec would be gimped if certain powers weren't selected in addition to the mains.
Makes it sound like the only "good" elec/elec is a cookie-cutter elec/elec...
[/ QUOTE ]
This is true and can be seen in the old fire tank builds. There were certain powers almost every fire tank had to take to make a viable tank.
Current holes are:
- No immobilize protection
- No knockback protection
- No self-heal/or/ hp boost -
Some basic things that I think we can all agree on:
* Every set needs some form of holes in it.
* Too many holes in a set make it counter-productive and no fun to play.
* Too few holes and the set becomes uber and the FOTM - soon to be followed by the nerf bat of doom.
The essential question we need to ask it which - if any of the holes in electric are too costly for what you get.
knockback/immobilize - this one has been debated for what seems like forever. Currently both Dark and Fire have a problem with this and many don't like it. While it can be filled with pool powers, I am not sure the overall set has enough positives to counter it.
Heal/health boost - Electric is the ONLY brute set to not have either a self heal or health boost. Granted Energy does not get their health boost until Overload. Granted Electric does get an overload type of power, but it has not got any form of heal boost to it and there is a drop in endurance and health at the end.
Not sure if the health loss is acceptable. -
Testing out different combos yesterday -gawd the lag was nasty.
I have an elec/elec and an elec/dark running because I want to compare the viability of the primary and secondary.
One of the things I noticed and need someone to back me up:
BI - as noted before I got around
Charged brawl - 2.33
Havoc Punch - 3.66
Nothing spectacular so far
Recharge times
Charged Brawl - about 4 sec
Havoc Punch - about 8 sec
I was not able to nail down the activation time due to the lag. I had to do almost all of my testing on an inside mission.
And trying to nail down the endurance use one those two seemed to be problematic in that under the combat tab it basically said you were draining "some endurance" every time - but I did not see this.
Slotting Enhancements - wont know how really effective these are until I get to the DO and SO range but you can slot the following in Charged brawl and Havoc punch
* Accuracy - normal
* Damage - normal
* Recharge - normal
* Endurance cost - normal
* Taunt - normal
* Sleep - this is new and seems counter-productive for a brute
* Endurance Mod - this is new and not sure how much of a boost you will get from it
Being able to slot your first two attacks that you use so much anyway with End Mods might open up some of the armor sets like dark and stone that tend to be a bit heavy on endurance use.
Running my Elec/Dark last night I picked up Death Shroud at 4 and was able to run it and Dark Embrace for most of the mission with little or no trouble. My endurance did go down, but not nearly as fast because of the endurance I was picking up. Hopefully I can get this toon up to the mid teens and see how well slotting 2 Acc, 2 Rchg, 2 End Mods will do for boosting your endurance recovery. Might go a long way to keeping your endurance up on those nasty AV fights in the mid-late game.
For those of you who do reach the DO and SO level, can you post up info on how effective it is to run with End Mods in those two attacks? That would be cool to know.
Oh well, more testing tonight if I get some time. -
To summarize most of the comments so far:
Pluses:
* Endurance recovery
* Slightly above average resists
* End drain protection
* Psionic protection
* Recharge and run speed boost
Minuses:
* No knockback
* No immobilize
* No health recovery/boost
As you have more to add, please post it up. We need a clear summary from time to time to lay out what has been found. -
I honestly have too many that I like:
dark/dark is my highest
others I have/had
stone/dark
ss/fire
stone/fire
stone/stone
energy/energy
dark/energy
ss/energy
I did a lot with Invul as tank so I have not dabbled much as a brute.
Can't wait to see what electric looks like. -
All I can say...
is
wow
(/e bow low.... bow low and throw your hands up in the air and wave em round like you jes don't care..... SMASH -
I personally think each Primary has a very distinctive flavor to it.
Only those who are interested in min/max values will honestly pick a primary or secondary based solely on numbers.
While I can see the appeal of this, I am not and never have been a big fan of min/max. For me how the toon plays and feels is everything since I am going to be spending so much time playing it.
ymmv... -

This was fixed with the latest patch. The droning fades away after 10 seconds.

yyyyyeeeeesssssss!!!!!!!
I can now run with my sound up -
supposedly... the key word here is SUPPOSEDLY they are going to fix the sound of the armors to fade after a short period of time.
I dont know when ... if ever... this will happen. -

Am I missing something, I hit with shadow maul fairly often.
Is it just ranged cone attacks, exclusive to certain ATs or heroes?
[/ QUOTE ]
I tested it with Headsplitter, Golden Dragonfly, Shadow Maul and Torrent. The bug affected all of those powers, so I told the programmer to check the code for how Cone powers work -- and that is where the bug was.

nice catch.... -
"Hi... my name is Moot"... everyone says... "Hi Moot" "it has been seven days since I have done any real damage thing to ... you know... hurt things... um, well, yeah"
"I have tried to be good and ..well you know not POUND THINGS.......grrrr SMASH... SMASH..... SMASH "
"Dang it... back to step one..." -

My favorite moment in CoV (think I was around level 10 at the time):
25% Health, very low Endurance, high Fury, only a single Inspiration left (Defense), spawn of 3 minions in front of me. Rest is recharge and I'm about to hit it when I think screw it, I'm going in. Luckily the first guy dropped a Heal Inspiration. Not sure if I wouldn't made it without it. Fury makes you do dumb things.
[/ QUOTE ]
Been there ... done that...
SMASH can become sooo adicting... dang it ... back to step 1 on the 12 step program.... -
ooooo I wish I wish I wish...
-
You gotta love the flaming pink pom poms of death...
Not only are Brutes adicting, but most of us dont seem to care too much about debt (mostly) either.
As you stand in the midst of mobs watching your rage bar fly up and the orange numbers jump up like an auctioneer on speed and bad guys dropping around you.... SMASH... SMASH... SMASH you just can't seem to stop yourself. No other toon has compelled me to stand there and do nothing but go down swinging like my Brute. Granted, I did some of this with my tank, but it just didnt feel the same....
maybe we should start Brutes Anonymous...
