Discussing interactions with GM's on the forums is not allowed, and is non productive. I heartily recommend that anyone who is dissatisfied with any interaction with NCsoft employees take it up through the link in my signature or by pm'ing any of the community personnel on the forums.

The CS team has the incredibly difficult job of taking a situation and making a judgement call based on rules which are interpreted incredibly differently by different people and are then heaped profound amounts of abuse on for making sure we are playing a game we can all play together.
Let's just say I sympathize with them.
Given none of us but the OP were there, none of us know what happened, and none of us will ever have the complete picture, I think it fairly demonstrates why this sort of conversation is not allowed. -
I like willpower tanks (although I tend to build them more like scrankers).
I like force fields.
I like defenders.
I'm pretty against non constructive discussion, which is where this thread is. -
Dark_Respite makes some fantastic videos I agree. I enjoy them, and while I personally regret her decision to "retire" I can understand where she is coming from. I do thank her on all her hard work making such videos in the past however.

I've been seeing some kind of uncomfortable posts here and I hope nobody feels forced to leave or gets modslapped too hard - I hope that the powers that be use moderation as their watchword while we get to grips with not just a new environment but new perspectives and also a pretty clunky (at least for some - and I include myself in that) interface.
Somebody above remarked they felt that the EU contingent were being assimilated by the larger NA whole. I have to say that's not been my experience - personally I've felt welcomed by players as part of a wider global community in which we all have a place. I believe that this merge can only be good for the game, so I hope they get to feeling a bit happier too.
Unfortunately we cannot accept all differences of behavior and simply allow EU players to use acceptable terms in the EU and NA players to use acceptable terms in the US because rules enforcement would be discriminatory (separate but equal has not proven to be very equal in a number of instances in the history of mankind) and that would be harmful to the community in the long run as well as creating a moderation nightmare.
Nor should we take a strictly subtractive approach and eliminate anything which potentially might be offensive to anyone (there are common terms which we need to communicate which are vulgar or obscene in certain languages).
We need to take a blended approach and accept certain behaviors as not offensive due to different cultures, but informing and making accommodation for what others might be offended by at the same time. Certain subjects are so harmful that they cannot be permitted (such as implications of racial abuse), other subjects can perhaps be given a bit more grace. In the example that was talked about in this thread extensively let me say that it would be highly likely had it been a former NA forumite they would not be posting currently had the same situation arisen.
If people have concerns about specific actions please pm a member of the Community Team (Avatea, Niviene, or myself in either this incarnation or as theOcho) as we can answer questions about specifics more directly in private.
But rest assured, anyone who thinks these are the NA forums and the EU members are only guests to be assimilated is sorely misinformed. -

Attacking someone for their opinions or beliefs is not acceptable, even if you disagree with them. If you think their beliefs are not acceptable commentary or being expressed in an inappropriate manner, notify the moderators.
Bashing anyone, even someone you felt has violated the rules, is not acceptable. If you do it, go ahead and notify the moderators since we'll be along shortly anyways.
Trips to the lavatory do not require moderator notification.

These servers are now back up and you are clear to log back in. We will be continuing to monitor these servers as the night goes on and will hopefully be able to minimize any further downtime if it becomes necessary.

It was starting to bug me, and it doesn't even affect my handle (though I'd have to wonder what other strange person in the EU would have my exact one).
Honestly though we would not have proceeded with the plans for the merge had we not carefully thought out these details well before hand. We had meetings literally months ago to work this out before we moved forward with investing in the technology to resolve the login issues.
We have a plan, it just behooves us to make sure everything else is settled down before we start sending out the assassination squads to resolve naming conflicts. Here's to hoping you all win the coin flip!

I've got a number of projects to work on, although this might be a good time to see if I can finagle a half day off or so. Plus we actually have work to do regarding the migration, it's not a hands off process.
I still might get a chuckle, and post something objectionable on my personal forum so I can keep in moderation practice. -
