Any chance of making the Silver Mantis fight optional? That's not the first time she's thrown into a mission as an objective for no good reason. (See Crash Cage.) Non-climactic use of AVs really cheapens them in my opinion, and gives me good reason to drop the mission even if you fix the generators.
  2. I beat that mission once. I don't think I've ever failed it, because between the generators and Silver Mantis, it's a mission I normally drop. But I did do the mission at least once, and I managed to save one generator, but that's only because I spotted it right away and flew right to it.

I also normally drop the mission against the Positron and Manticore automatons. I completed it with my Fire/Fire brute, but I don't like non-climactic missions against one EB, let alone two.

Frankly, I don't care for Dark Watcher's arc much at all. But I do enjoy Levantera's and Serpent Drummer's arcs.

But as you imply, not the AVs. They would reduce to PToD EBs, but no further. If I could get them all to drop to bosses in the standard missions, I would be in mission heaven. Well, except for the hazard zone hunting missions and the multiple simultaneous glowie click missions, but difficulty settings won't help with those.
  4. Personally, I'd like options to have AVs and EBs scale down to bosses.

    But I'm greedy that way.

/shrug welcome to the world of not everything revolves around you.
It may not revolve around Sam alone, but if enough people feel the same way, or if the extra boss spawns are actually due to a bug, then things could very well change.

If I had Sam's difficulty settings, I would not want those extra bosses, for exactly the reasons that Sam gives. On the other hand, by increasing the effective team size, I have to expect team-oriented content, and larger teams run into extra bosses regularly. So I wouldn't use Sam's settings.

I'll probably change my DB/Regen's settings back to a team size of one, but not because of the (downgraded) bosses. Running into the occasional pair of Tsoo sorcerors can be kind of annoying...
  6. I played my DB/Regen Scrapper a while, with my mission team size set to two. I did indeed get spurts of boss spawns. I went into one Sky Raider mission, and the first three spawns I saw all included a boss. That doesn't really bother me, since the bosses downgrade to lieutenants for me.

I really like being able to add bosses if I want without increasing other difficulty settings, or increasing team size while still having bosses bump down to lieutenants. I never changed the difficulty settings before I16, and now I'm changing it for a number of my characters.

For some of my slower and squishier characters (such as my Dark/Electric Defender and Electric/Energy Brute), I set the enemy level to -1. Makes things go a lot faster.
  7. Objective Feedback (trick-or-treat)
A number of times my tricks consisted of a boss (Vampire Lord or Crone) paired with a lieutenant. In fact, this occurred more often than not when getting boss spawns. (At other times, I would get a lone boss or a boss with a couple minions.)

    Subjective Feedback
These particular bosses are bad enough for soloing players, but adding in a lieutenant makes it quite a bit worse, especially in the lower levels. I think all the paired lieutenants and lone boss spawns are challenging enough without throwing in the boss+lieutenant spawns. Could that be adjusted at all before things go live?
  8. Hmm. I recently set the difficulty for my DB/Regen Scrapper for a team of two, but I haven't done much of anything with her since then. I'll have to see how often the (downgraded) bosses show up for me.

I agree that getting too many boss fights can really drag things down. You can turn them all into lieutenants (like I do), but you probably enjoy fighting a boss in a mission now and then, just not every couple spawns.

Yes. A nice mix of magic and science fiction.

True. You can get fairly close, but not quite.

The villain population on the test server wasn't enough today, according to the dev running the testing.

Same here. Searching for a cleverly concealed enemy or glowy on a large map can be very frustrating. Showing the stragglers on the map would be extremely nice.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing this.
  15. Message on the test server:

"Unfortunately, we do not have sufficient villain players to conduct testing on villain maps."

    Really? You think?

With a dwindling population all spread out, why make new raid-oriented events? New events should be geared towards small groups and solo players (like me), IMO. Or perhaps I'm just being selfish. It may be a much more popular event than I think.

(Sorry I didn't join in with the villain I was playing, but I don't do raids. Besides, there should be players trying to do other things while raids are going on just to make sure nothing else is busted.)

Even the trick-or-treat monsters are tougher these days, with paired lieutenants and bosses showing up very frequently for solo characters. Deadhead used to be the first hunting badge I'd get during the Halloween event, because zombies were so plentiful. Now it's the last, with all the vampires and werewolves and spirits showing up. (At least no one can complain about having problems picking up the Buster badge this year...)

I'm not sure I'll do much on the live servers for this event. I have one lower level character who needs the extra costume slot, but a number of my characters will just be a bit too squishy for all the Vampire Lords and Crones.
  16. My favorite character, Yukihime, is never done.

My other characters are pretty much done when they reach level 50 and finish up any open story arcs. I'll play them every long now and then, but I consider them to be retired.

  18. Hmph. 87.88%. I'm disappointed at my poor performance.
  19. I've been playing nearly since launch, and I've put a huge number of hours in the game. I still play the game heavily. Still, I consider myself to be a casual player.

I enjoy collecting badges, but I'm not going to make an attempt to collect all the badges. I don't fight AVs. I've never increased the difficulty. (In fact, I recently decreased the difficulty for a few of my characters, thanks to the I16 changes.) I have seven level 50 characters, but I could have had quite a few more if I had concentrated on leveling rather than playing a wide variety of alts. I've never fought Hamidon, I've never done a trial (including respec trials), and I've only completed two TFs. I use the market a little (mainly to sell items I know will be worth a lot), but not much. I don't fill up on IO sets, although I do frequently use the Invention system to craft IOs from recipes and salvage that drop. I dabble a bit in Ouroboros and the Mission Architect, but not a lot.

Excuse me, but I have the sudden urge to go do some missions.
  20. Fun: Ice/Ice/Cold Blaster. Fast and versatile, great both solo and on teams.

Capable: Ill/Rad/Psi Controller. Able to take on anything I find in a mission without hesitation. Not quite as fast as my blasters and scrappers, but more capable of crushing the opposition.

My Fire/Fire Brute used to be my fastest character (when it comes to tearing through missions), but that character no longer has knockback protection. I think my Claws/Regen/Dark scrapper is probably my fastest on average now.

My weakest character is my Warshade.

No, please. I drop enough missions as it is. I like story arcs that I can reliably finish with any of my characters without dropping a mission.

I generally avoid the Faultline arcs. I like Penelope Yin's arc, but the rest are full of AVs. Bleah.

I would like AVs to be used in more climactic roles, rather than liberally sprinkling them in missions. Considering past development, I don't expect that to happen in Going Rogue. The devs have done a lot of good writing, but their use of powerful enemies leaves a great deal to be desired.
  22. Me too please. I finally met all the requirements with my level 50 Fire/Fire brute, the progress bar is full, but no Demonic.

Good call, but I think it was a bit later than that, actually. Not much later though. January 4 was Issue 3, right? After the big boss boost in Issue 3, there was much complaining. Statesman had been under the impression that bosses weren't all that common in missions. We pointed out to him that bosses were indeed quite common, even when playing solo. So he not only repealed the boss boost, he also instituted the feature that downgrades the bosses to lieutenants when soloing on the lowest difficulty level. I can't remember how fast after Issue 3's launch that happened, but it seemed fairly quick to me.

And yes, PK, Bone Daddies and Damned can still hit pretty hard even as lieutenants. At least the Bone Daddies don't have Shadow Maul, like they did way back when.
  24. I finally met all the requirements for the Demonic accolade with my level 50 Fire/Fire brute, thanks to the change to Coldhearted... but the Demonic badge is broken, as others have noted. Darn.

On the bright side, I got the Force of Nature accolade on logging with that character, thanks to the change to the Hero Slayer badge.

    "Watch out for booby traps."

Yes, I've been having problems with that filter too lately...
