Personally I'm getting a little bored of all this melodrama.
As an outsider to whatever has sparked these game related relationship problems, I will say that the RSF thing [censored] me off somewhat, because basically I'd have had a spot on it.
I do honestly know that London was very concerned about the general state of dispute and went to quite some trouble to arrange an event with the best intentions of progressing things much more positively. It's really a shame this opportunity wasn't fulfilled for whatever unfortunate reasons.
As a Defiant Villain, I'm starting to get more than a little [censored] off seeing this [censored] conflict continue further than it should.
Basically I think any villain activity as community is going to need a few people to champion it, persistently and not just hope that a few threads will raise the needed interest because TBH the issue are more than, and more historic than a few people posting grats threads.
But seriously. Whatever is going on. Just sort it out ffs.

Unfortunately, for me personally, extra global channels isn't something I'm going to be able to join as I'm already maxed with various group channels and the existing events and badge channels. Again, it's just my opinion, I would consider things would probably work better with renewed focus and contribution to what already exists, as per the events and badge channel, than further factionalising through more channels. Just my thoughts tho tbh.
Badge Channel - although I don't know a lot about various people on the channel and operators, Warengine certainly plays both sides of the game, and Blue Rabbit I think is very villain focussed. Both are very supportive, active people for badging type activities etc. -
I think we were looking at putting something together to be indexed in the section Captain Solaris created. Just, er..., not done much about it yet
. Sure, can add the info here when done.
-
Need most of these on my current alt, and will certainly want some, if not most on my future i12 alt, so will sign up for what is on offer
.
I'm guessing things like doing the Plague Carrier badge via Ouroboros with a big team will be a simple way of going for Kill Skulls, Bonesmasher and IIRC it's a good one for a quick Gearsmasher, providing the team conditions are those that spawn the critters needed.
Baphomet's dead easy, using Ouroboros to the Code Merlin arc. It's 3 missions long as has the great Possessed Scientists. At the right rank IIRC they count to the Soul Binder badge. I got mine in that boat map.
Man In Black I guess is easiest in the Atlas map in the Ouroboros introductory arc?
Wouldn't mind Paragon Protectors to enable Viridian's missions. I'm not that aware of a good mission/map that best spawns them.
Gangbuster I wouldn't mind grouping for. It's not so much difficult, but a labor that bores me somewhat.

Most nights should be ok for me. A couple of days notice at least would be very preferrable as I'll tend to have signed up to a TF or something otherwise

What seems to be urgently needed is a sticky/pinned events forum for each server/faction.

Oi, red names take a hint...

What's needed is a volume of events *to* sticky. Otherwise, and fairly, it's not worth the time and effort if not supported and used.

Why not continue the thread with what players would like to see? What community activities would players want to join in with? What events do you want to do but are finding difficult to arrange or to succeed at?
Personally atm, I wouldn't mind a few badge hunts. Toxic Tarantulas I need on an alt. It's pretty quick with a big team and is often at a good pace for chatting with people in the team.
Skull bosses, Troll bosses, and Outcast bosses. I remember there used to regulary be arranged hunts for these over the badge channels. I guess as peoples manin badgers have achieved them, then the need has subsided, but there must be new players, new badging alts, or a sudden interest in someone to get badging that such things can start happening again.
I kind of wouldn't mind an MoRSF run on my Dom. Just had no interest before with a variety of reasons with various loopholes that made it not very interesting for me to get excited about, but I have found I now am.
Oh, I need a few Mayhem map badges that I missed when teaming.
Just a few simple things I could think right off the bat that I'd be up for joining in with and would sign up for. We have great players and characters in the community, like Master Zap etc who I'm sure would be keen to get creative events going again if they would be supported.
With a decent ground work of activity and events, then there would be something to approach Community people about, like Ghost Raptor, towards getting a better sticked index for events. I would sympathise that he's unlikely to invest the effort needed in it if it just isn't going to get used at all however. -
To be honest, the lack of villain events on this section has been a historic issue for quite some time. It's only excarrebated by other people posting other topics, but really, for such a long time, well, at least some people were using it for something for their benefit.
Many people have raised some suggestions and requests for a better "events" section. But these people have been few and far between. Also, it's just not going to happen unless people actually create events, join up to events and participate with each other in the community and keep such events active.
I've seen a fair number of great events posted up historically that simply got bumped off the front pages for *no* reason at all than lack of participation. Not because of anyone posting other gameplay or player topics at all.
Master Zaprobo's Saturday RV invasions - great turn outs for a few weeks... then lack of interest, and no one bothering to continue posting interest.
Dark Spider's Zone PvP events - Dear God the poor guy tried hard, he really did, and it got some great participation for a while, but once again, apathy and lack of posting means the threads vanished, and thus noone really had any source for info for the event.
Same with Saucer Raids - do these even happen anymore.
To be fair to the group of players that for some reason got the brunt of frustration from a couple of players. To be fair I remember plenty of Smurf group related threads and events put forward and organised by these groups for the benefits of others. Attempts at Hami' Raids, MoRSF runs, LGTF runs. Usually open and arranged on plenty of occasions for the benefit of other people to join in an achieve those events and TFs.
Since there has simply been nothing going on in the section for ages. That's why generally hardly anyone looks here. There's nothing generally to join in with. It's simply the case that it's much easier to arrange a TF and succeed within player's own SGs and coalitions than to try arrange something within in a thread that#s probably going to gather dust in a community that very historically really doesn't have much interest in joining in anything outside their own groups.
But if people want a more active villain community and believe it can happen, awesome, I'm with you and you have my support.

Have you actually read you own first post in this thread?
If you're not happy with the way the boards are being used, or the way the sections are structured why not be constructive and suggest or raise your concern to a Community Manager, ie Ghost Raptor.
Last I saw, you aren't community staff.
Plenty of other people have made constructive suggestions or requests for a better "events" thread, which serves better than a cheap troll & flame. Honestly, flaming grats threads really is the weakest form of trolling.
Grats to those that have all dinged. Hope to see some of you in RV battling for the cause

I'm up for it.
I can talk to some of the villain RV usuals too for some additional interest.
I'm sure most RV visiting heroes will recognise the uniqueness of such hunts and be more than happy to hold off or even grab a villain alt to get the badges. That said, in all honesty it's rare these days that there's a comparable amount of heroes in RV to trouble the villains to that extent.
There may be a couple of "characters" that are likely to just try and cause problems. I doubt the genuine PvP players will cause any problems, because they're more keen to have PvP happening in a positive way than harrang the PvE people that will come to badge for just one evening.
With luck it might fall into place that the heroe sig characters get bagged nice and quickly and a few might like to stay on for some battles after?
It's been a while since one of these so I'm sure the SG and coaltions must be full of new alts interested in getting these.

Question, do you guys ever PvP on defiant any more? i only ask as my sg would love some more action in RV and some new faces to go along side the super nation.
PvP is not dead on defiant but it could use a kick in the butt
[/ QUOTE ]
Well i have no toons on Defiant any more to be honest.Due to more PvP action on Union (from my experience so far).
RV been packed with action lately which is great!Had some awsome fights both hero and villains side and seems WB and SC are busy as well (especially SC judging from the arena chat).
There is a good mix of PvPers at the moment and a lot new faces too in zones. And KS's PvP nights been awsome as well with great turnouts.
Kinda off topic sorry for derail Shock.Anyway dunno about the rest but i moved my toons which were all PvP orientated on Union.I think most of our SG has done the same.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wish cross server PvP zones and/or arena could or would be a reality.
On one hand there is Phil saying he's not gotten an 8 man villain team before on Union, yet we have regulary have 8 man villain teams and even more in Defiant RV, and RV there has been rocking consistently for some time until recently, and now we but fairly stuck for a decent regular volume of heroes for opposition.
If cross server zones or something could happen then both the disparities both sides could be so fixed for everyone.
I'm really stuck where to level/play the Corruptors I want to level next for a bit of PvP because I do want to do some more regulary. Yet the villain teaming aspect in PvE seems to have greater issues and problems whatever the server and I know I can get awesome fun teams from Defiant friends.
/em emo mode off.

Looking for this on an alt, so am interested.
You don't really need that many people in all honesty. The hardest bit is finding it. Once you catch it at a stopping point it's pretty easy to take out. I think last time about 4 of us and a few shivs decimated it before it took off again. -
In all honesty, with a decent Warshade on board, there shouldn't be much left standing in normal mobs for anyone else to worry about aggro
.
If it's that much of a problem, it'll most likely be a problem whatever is tanking because it sounds more like the other toons being a bit too keen to chew alpha.

I'd have rather had that beefed up Lighting Bolts animation that the Croatoa witches get (Shocking Grasp, or Bolt) tweaked to perform as a nice 38 tier blast at least somewhat in line with what the other Dom sets have (so drop the hold component etc?).
But then I understand why this would never happen and why we have the Sentinel at 38...
Can you imagine the fury over a third tier Elec Blast in the sole domain of Dominators....

I don't know i've used it to escape from nova and thunderous blast several times although it could just be put down to good timing on my part
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you escape from a Thunderous Blast?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well with a 3.7 activation time and having a instantaneous movement power its really not that hard.
[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't Team TP actually 2 second cast time?
TB I think is the longest cast time nuke at 3.7.
With others at an average of about 3, you would need to TP out within 1 second right? And that's not factoring in that the nuke makes all the hit rolls etc at the animation activation.
Wouldn't a Blaster descending from a high angle, which makes a mess of the COX camera, or from blind angles, account for an awful lot of that 1 second? -
Not that I have any personal experience of nuking MMs, but from what I've seen, any Blasters doing it decently don't run right towards the front of an MM flapping their arms. MMs are a bit of a monster when you lemming rush them
. Seems to me the time to do it would be when the MM and pets are concentrating on something else, another team-mate etc, approach from a high angle and/or from a blind angle fast and ffs do it fluidly
. Under those circumstances, given the sudden arrival and timing the activation, I've seen Blasters put it to use pretty well tbh even vs those MMs thinking they moved to safety. Also, given the very short range of team TP matching it up to Thunderous Blast, I'd personally not stand and wave hello where you can see me activating it
. From above or blind angle, or when you're enaging another team-mate, and I don't think there's much possibility you can Team TP to complete cover TBH as doesn't it activate in line of sight only, ie not around blind corners or through buildings? Fired anywhere around 30 feet and a Team TPing MM is not really going to outrange TB is it (assuming likely set slotting on TB and max range slotting on Team TP)?

You've missed Power Sink from the Mu pool, which considering your intentions, must surely be a must have. But you cite in your notes about the pool, so probably just a mistake
.
Personally I think Superspeed might be a bit much in that build. I have a /Kin Corr and use both Leaping and IR. Basically it's a team character and used mostly in zones. The movement is incredible. That's just my preference though.
For every point for not needing one of the travels in your /Kin build, there will be counter arguements against not having them, as your /Kinetics based ones require either a targetted hit, or recastingand there's always scenarios where that can cause a problem.
The Mu hold I'm not sure about. I can't see you holding many targets in PvP, but I could be wrong. I *think* it lacks anything in the way of -fly,-jump or slows too, which the Mace has in spadefuls. Rooting or impeding your target to apply the close range big hitting drains is probably the difficult bit. But then I'm [censored] at that. Maybe if it's a huge problem and you get enough of a big drain effect without Powersink, go Mace for stacking loads of slow, movement limitation and -recharge
? Then hit them with Short Circuit/Transference? Still... Power Sink...!
I think the -recovery components from the Elec pieces will be the key to your toon being really really infuriating. Transference off my Corr seems to take maybe a couple of doses or so to really empty a well managed character, and even then there's no -recovery there so they always get a fair fraction back nearly immediately. _recovery however really really cripples. Personally I'd take the whole lot, it's surely a horrible amount of drain and recovery damage.
That said I'm fairly casual on the old Pee Vee Pee. Others will be able to elaborate with information much better.

I think the core point of the post and the topic raised is "buff" toons that sit outside of any participation of the zone activity in security of the base area where they cannot be reached at all by the opposition, using Recall friend to reapply buffs or extract other characters from defeat. And I think IMO "participation" is the key issue.
First let's reiterate, no-one sensible has a problem with tp foe or re-call friend being used in PvP at all.
Personally, all due credit and respect to someone who's able to move around the zone, find some suitable areas in the battle area of the zone and use either of them well. All's fair etc etc, tip of the hat.
I don't have any problem with any character being extracted to safety either... so long as the character doing so is actually equally engaged in the zone and participating just like everyone else.
What people generally aren't enthralled about is hiding a character in base where it won't participate with the rest of the zone and simply "rescues" another character or re-deploys buffs.
No-one's interested if it's a "skillful" or "strategic" thing to do. Most claims will fall on deaf ears. The simple fact is the character isn't participating.
People get frustrated by being beat, but when beaten by a good player, with a great, well thought out build played well, moving around the zone well, whether it's supporting colleagues or targettting or making kills and stuff, personally, even if a bit ticked off I think to myself "Ok, they got me, the gitsbut there's things I can see that show that's a good player/good toon... now I want to try take them down!" and I feel more motivated to go back and try again.
When beaten by a toon that's contstantly teleported to it's based and rebuffed, then I just find it yawn inducing. Nothing has proven to me that the fight was engaging, challenging or demanding. The other players just went the route of stacking the numbers even further with zero risk and don't really care about participation, spirit or challenge. I don't care about their toon, I have no opinion about their ability, they've done nothing to make any lasting impression other than make me think about other stuff that isn't PvP. The battle with them doesn't engage me, I don't find any merit in it, so what happens is I just start thinking of other fun stuff to do so ultimately am another player leaving a PvP zone.
People like to play against other people that are engaging the zone and participating in it.
My experience in Defiant RV makes me think that the general desire of people going there, both or either side, is simply participation. Many times one side or another has been outnumbered or outmatched yet still the battles go on with people generally happy to keep throwing themselves at it.
Like I said I don't have any problem with recall friend etc used anywhere in the open "battlefield".
I don't see really why there would be any issue with tp supression put into the very interior parts of the base. The safe border areas beyond the exits and up to the drones
could remain as they are. I don't expect this would alleviate droning, but there's a few coutner things that can be done for tp foe, or not. The key thing being tho, that's pretty much down to the opposing players choice. There's no counter choice or tactical action you can take to currently prevent the hidden non-participating buff bot toon, other than, I guess, log in a character on the same side and get in confused... but then for some reason that seems to get cries of "exploit" (I haven't done this TBH, but it really baffles me how one thing is deemed any better than the other over this issue).
Ultimately what I don't understand is if there are good players that can play a support class in the zone and in the areas of battle, moving around and making a big impact, why do others need to have their support toon tucked away out of danger.
And also, when there's so much difficuly finding active PvP to participate in, it really baffles me why then anyone would then park a non participating toon, bunkered up and advocate the very problem with the zones of non participation. Why on Earth would you not welcome and engage in and participate in some active zone PvP when you find it?
I guess if you're a big fan of the tucked in bed, fragile tp'er then there's not much argument can be said against it. However I think such play will just see people leave the zone in fits of yawns, so ultimately such people can give them selves a big pat on the back (as no one else will be around to do it... well, maybe your buffbot can) for emptying a PvP zone and having no PvP to take part in. No PvP fo u!
Edit: I hit *reply* to TGs post, as don't realy know what's going with some of the other stuff. As far as I remember before my waffling, so TG, my arguements aren't directed to you, just my thoughts on how this stuff plays out in zones and what effects it can perhaps causes on zone activity. -
I'm not exactly sure what people were expecting to see once the VEATs had been confirmed as Soldiers Of Arachnos.
Powers, sets and animations that thematically matched and were consistent with the faction are a given are they not?
I like what I've seen so far. I think the style and context of the VEATs are consistent and appropriate to the theme and the development of the sets looks like it's building quite nicely.
If people wanted big flashy alien powers, maybe they should have made more noise about the Nictus.
-
I think I'll keep them to myself thanks given the likely binary opinion that seems to be evolving of what constitues team contribution, despite that I agree with nearly all the points in the discussion that *do* communicate a disparity in what the Stalker AT contributes in PvE teams.
Unfortunately I find the tales of wonder miracle working Stalkers that can out kill a lot of other ATs hard to agree with because of my own experience with both Stalker and non-Stalker characters*. I've yet to see it happen.
However, said Brute of Cognito's experience may well have given some pretence of trying to perform a role it was not capabale off but is that appropriately measured by accounting for that contribution as a muppet? Hard to tell with such a brief summary of the experience.
Edit: * my own Stalker and non-Stalker Characters. -
[ QUOTE ]
My eyes have boggled at a Energy / Energy Brute with no AoE attacks or taunt who didnt cycle his attacks over different targets and pretended to be a team player. Id take something like a Spines stalker over that muppet any day.
[/ QUOTE ]
Brutes aren't something I play, but I can think of plenty of reasons another player would reach such a build. And unless they were trying to present some pretence of capability in aggro management I'd be reticent to leap to what could be a condascending, blinkered, and way off the mark conclusion about team role and "muppets". -
Um... pretty much as expected. Just about matches the structure of other Dom' assault sets and since it's proliferation, these powers were pretty much the given since day one.
Apart from Voltaic Sentinel. Find that a bit weird in the assault set.
Whilst many assume and hope (me too) for an elec based control primary, kind of wonder what the final tier would be in that if not a pet.... although the 'Sentinel doesn't much warrant the same status as the other control pets of course.
Perhaps it's in the assault set because of the potential fury if it was unleashed as a primary set pet.
I guess Short Circuit's absence from the secondary *could* give some positive indication of a primary at a later stage.
Elec' assault is probably a little shoe horned by the existing choices in the MU patron pool.
The lack of a top tier elec blast really does make a glaring disparity in the set though. -
A better solution. One small note however is the impact break frees alone now have. One insp type that pretty much negates whole sets seems a little weird. I'd have preferred to see the repel resistance go into another type
.
