Lets lay it out straight.... think of the future

lol not a lot happened on this forum... yet, since I joined the forums I tried to make a real concerted effort to make it other than just a gratz board. I havent asked for praise or anything for doing so, i dont want it or need it tbh. I would like more support.

Sometimes change is as good as a rest, and obviously people were avoiding the board and getting upset for a reason. Maybe Fish was wrong in his way of vocalising it, there could have been a lot more 'diplomatic' ways to go around it, maybe a few others could have found things another way to do. Its all done, by the by, dusted - whatever. Its over... lets move on

Diplomacy cant do a thing if all parties are just going to be stubborn headed mules (and were talking all sides have these so Im not picking on anyone, Im stubborn too, ask Wytchlight!). This forum has been this while a long time, festering.... but change isnt a bad thing. People always used coal & steam to make electricity.... now we have wind, water & nuclear generated electricity.... is that a bad thing?

No absolute solutions at this point, but I think a even 'ground' may make a steady path to a more community bias for Villains on Defiant.

Look Im trying to be a diplomat here, I have enough at home dealing with 5 kids without having to do the same job here too!

Lets try to get events up and running, make villains a good place to play.... and somewhere I can recommend people to come.

All I ask is that instead of bickering and horrible resentful silences we try to do the impossible... change for a positive future. A glorious villainous future where we can just call our fellow villains and rally for support.

Many of us are parents too... you have to remember as soon as they are old enough those kids will be on here too... the future of villainy crawling at our gaming feet!

To be honest, the lack of villain events on this section has been a historic issue for quite some time. It's only excarrebated by other people posting other topics, but really, for such a long time, well, at least some people were using it for something for their benefit.

Many people have raised some suggestions and requests for a better "events" section. But these people have been few and far between. Also, it's just not going to happen unless people actually create events, join up to events and participate with each other in the community and keep such events active.

I've seen a fair number of great events posted up historically that simply got bumped off the front pages for *no* reason at all than lack of participation. Not because of anyone posting other gameplay or player topics at all.

Master Zaprobo's Saturday RV invasions - great turn outs for a few weeks... then lack of interest, and no one bothering to continue posting interest.

Dark Spider's Zone PvP events - Dear God the poor guy tried hard, he really did, and it got some great participation for a while, but once again, apathy and lack of posting means the threads vanished, and thus noone really had any source for info for the event.

Same with Saucer Raids - do these even happen anymore.

To be fair to the group of players that for some reason got the brunt of frustration from a couple of players. To be fair I remember plenty of Smurf group related threads and events put forward and organised by these groups for the benefits of others. Attempts at Hami' Raids, MoRSF runs, LGTF runs. Usually open and arranged on plenty of occasions for the benefit of other people to join in an achieve those events and TFs.

Since there has simply been nothing going on in the section for ages. That's why generally hardly anyone looks here. There's nothing generally to join in with. It's simply the case that it's much easier to arrange a TF and succeed within player's own SGs and coalitions than to try arrange something within in a thread that#s probably going to gather dust in a community that very historically really doesn't have much interest in joining in anything outside their own groups.

But if people want a more active villain community and believe it can happen, awesome, I'm with you and you have my support .

Ok, maybe I did go about it the wrong way. Hindsight is a great thing huh?

Just wanna apologise to London as it was in no way a personal attack. Reading it back, sure, it sounds a little "In your face" but I just felt frustrated and annoyed.

The response to my opinion was, to say the least, surprising. Sure I expected a response but ... wow

Anyway, hope this can all be put behind us now. I know, personally, I'll be contacting people in PM's and thinking before I type it. I hope others can see their mistakes in the way that the thread went and learn too

Why not continue the thread with what players would like to see? What community activities would players want to join in with? What events do you want to do but are finding difficult to arrange or to succeed at?

Personally atm, I wouldn't mind a few badge hunts. Toxic Tarantulas I need on an alt. It's pretty quick with a big team and is often at a good pace for chatting with people in the team.

Skull bosses, Troll bosses, and Outcast bosses. I remember there used to regulary be arranged hunts for these over the badge channels. I guess as peoples manin badgers have achieved them, then the need has subsided, but there must be new players, new badging alts, or a sudden interest in someone to get badging that such things can start happening again.

I kind of wouldn't mind an MoRSF run on my Dom. Just had no interest before with a variety of reasons with various loopholes that made it not very interesting for me to get excited about, but I have found I now am.

Oh, I need a few Mayhem map badges that I missed when teaming.

Just a few simple things I could think right off the bat that I'd be up for joining in with and would sign up for. We have great players and characters in the community, like Master Zap etc who I'm sure would be keen to get creative events going again if they would be supported.

With a decent ground work of activity and events, then there would be something to approach Community people about, like Ghost Raptor, towards getting a better sticked index for events. I would sympathise that he's unlikely to invest the effort needed in it if it just isn't going to get used at all however.

What's needed is a volume of events *to* sticky . Otherwise, and fairly, it's not worth the time and effort if not supported and used.

What seems to be urgently needed is an updatable sticky/pinned events forum for each server/faction based on the 'What's On' sticky/pinned ones which never seem to get updated...

The 'What's On' threads need locking and an events thread added that is also sticky/pinned, so that red names can update the 'What's On' from the latest info in the 'User Events' thread.

Forum newbies would only have to look at their chosen server/faction's specific 'What's On' then, rather than having to try to forum search *Shudder...* for this info.

so we could do a "Im hunting" thread? wouldnt be the same people running it every time though cus that wouldnt be fair.

Would like to see regular SF thread (only 1 mind) maybe with strikeanight listing which would be really useful, possibly cycling not so frequent too as people dont need to do binding the beast every week.

Also respec trial runs would be an idea.

Base salvage swap? (prolly pointless, but seing as people like arcane bases and were tech be easier that selling it in some cases)

MoLRSF & standard LRSF would be nice on regularity (even once a fortnight or once a month rota basis), and as Lady Grey is extreemly popular maybe a "im free for LGTF on these nights" might be a good one.

Ive done the following:

a SG showoff/recruitement thread
a badge hunter thread

Wytch started the "Ive Dinged 50 thread" which should help tidy the board up a little and make it easier for any new villains to get around a bit.

I propose a few SF races and a monthly GM hunt - either for the full sheebang of 4 (not inc halloween/event) or just the odd one

I could do with some voluteer organisers as I will possibly be offline in a few weeks for a unspecified amount of time (Im moving house!)

Actually thats a real good idea as quite often people accidentally out level the mayhems (I need steel canyon I think on Haemathetica)

LOL I got in my head Bankrob Mondays for some reason.... blame the kids... the Weenie Hut Jr episode of Spongebob is on.....

****event idea****
Who would like to do a cossie comp? Would have to try find the prizes mind!

Sf races use to be fun we would race on the lrsf and we got it down to 50 mins at one point but now with the change to the spawn rate/log off it cant be done that fast, still we can still get it done in 1hr 20.

A defiant villains event channel would help with all this kind of thing and im not sure but there could already be one, the other thing would be to sort someting out like GG defiant help list players leave there globals so others can contact if they need help with a sf etc.

Ill look into the whole chat channel thing in a bit, I have to admit Defiant Events can be overpoweringly hero sometimes.

OK logging in now to check out a villainy chat channel

***edit***

Ive made a channel called 'Villain Support' for now. If anyone would like to offer thier support as a operator that would be great.

I had to drop DefiantBadgers off my list tho, its normally deathly quiet anyway!

Unfortunately, for me personally, extra global channels isn't something I'm going to be able to join as I'm already maxed with various group channels and the existing events and badge channels. Again, it's just my opinion, I would consider things would probably work better with renewed focus and contribution to what already exists, as per the events and badge channel, than further factionalising through more channels. Just my thoughts tho tbh.

Badge Channel - although I don't know a lot about various people on the channel and operators, Warengine certainly plays both sides of the game, and Blue Rabbit I think is very villain focussed. Both are very supportive, active people for badging type activities etc.

Blue Rabbit is a fun bunny, i love playing on a team with his lot, always guarenteed a giggle.

limitation on chat channels is a little of a crux for many so no worries on that.
