    I don't blame them! I've tried playing blasters. Several times. But each time I can't help but think "I could be doing damage close to this level in complete safety as a brute, dominator, or scrapper.... so why am I wasting my time on this debt machine?"

    My electric/shield scrapper can one two hit with lightening rod and shield charge doing damage on par with a blaster's nuke. He can do it more often, with no endurance crash, and in the safety of decent defense and mez protection.


    I know I'm going to take heat from blaster fans. They'll go into how THEIR blaster can do all these things and not die. But to do it they have to use very specific power combinations and IO sets that boost their defense to do what scrappers and brutes do easily with any random selection of powers and without a single IO set.

    Blasters just don't have the damage to justify their complete lack of defenses. Because your DPS numbers don't matter diddly when you're mezzed or dead.
  2. Thanks a ton for this attack chain calculator! I actually saw that Flares was lowering my DPS rather than helping it.

    And DarkCurrent's link to his discussion thread about /earth ended up with a new forums troll added to my block list. Let's all give Weatherby Goode an applause for his spectacular job in spreading hate and stupidity across the interwebz. Sadly I will no longer be able to see his future posts but I trust he'll keep up the good work.
  3. Ya know. They say to ignore trolls. I've said it plenty of times myself. But when it actually comes down to it. It's pretty hard to do.

    This isn't an unheard of bug. They've fix similar bugs before so I'm sure this one will get attention eventually. Probably not before release though.
  4. Actually, in the release notes, it said that all versions of Consume were given that +recovery buff.

    In fact, this issue probably the best thing that could have happened to my main, who's a plant/fire dom. Not only is he getting new epic fire attacks, but +recovery, and Cathedral of Pain which sounds like it's going to be sick fun.

    Right on! You haven't seen Blizzard until you've seen it in the hands of a corruptor. With scourge it's far more powerful than the blaster version. A corruptor's blizzard is by far the most powerful nuke in the game.

    Well it's a fixable issue. They fixed it with carrion creepers not triggering procs. So having them inherit domination shouldn't be much different.

    Speaking of Carrion Creepers! Put Explosive Strike's chance for smashing damage proc on them. Doubles their damage output. Fun times.

    If you can get the boss to stay in the Static Field for a little while, it will put him to sleep. I had a lvl 53 Citadel AV sleeping like a baby. Hitting a boss with Jolting Chain is a good start to making it stay put in the field.

    That said, draining bosses with Conductive Aura is really the way to go for handling them with Domination down.
    Mu mastery has Power Sink which will go a loooong way to draining bosses.

    It's not a new bug either. Carrior Creepers, a secondarily spawned pet, had a similar problem which kept Proc from working on them and it was fixed. Chain Induction was bugged so that secondary hits weren't getting the Brute fury damage mod. Also fixed. So this is not a "functioning as intended" and should be fixed. When? Who knows. Probably not before release.

    Static Field and Synaptic Overload use secondary, invisible, pets to function as they do. Unfortunately these secondary pets do not inherit your Domination. This neuters the set significantly for us since we can't mez bosses with these two powers. And an unmezzed boss, as we all know, goes right for the mezzer and stomps his bloody face in.

    This set is passable with Earth or maybe Energy assault since they provide control in unto themselves. I would not recommend this set with any other secondary since you will die a frustrating amount of times until this bug is addressed.

    I'm disappointed in the dominator electric control. Namely because, as Liliaceae pointed out here http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ctric+Feedback That Static Field and Synaptic Overlord, are not being affected by Domination.

    This is most likely because both these powers use secondary invisible spawned pets to function as they do. Domination doesn't carry over to these secondary pets, much like it doesn't carry over to Volcanic Gasses.

    This failure to carry over issue is not new or a working as intended as seen with the issue of procs not carrying over to Carrion Creepers (which was fixed) and, if I remember correctly, Chain Induction not carrying brute rage modification over to additional targets (which was also fixed).

    Since these are the set's two significant soft control powers, this neuters the set significantly for Dominators who die quickly if bosses are not mezzed with the rest of the spawn. Which means that this set is significantly bugged and needs attention.

    Other than this issue, I am extremely happy with this expansion and I can't wait for it to go live.

    My plant/fire/Mu perma dom is already on par damage wise with most blasters I've seen and has better control than any controller I've met. And now you're going to give me rain of fire, fire ball, and melt armor??

    What role do blasters fill now? Other than giving the emps something to do.
  12. Just be prepared. No matter which primary you pick any mastermind with /ff secondary will be boring as all hell. Force fields take twice as long to cast as other shields and has no activeness past Force Bomb. I have a 50 bot/ff. He's unkillable but I literally fall asleep while playing him

    I just loaded into test server earlier today. Took about 10 steps and boom, my graphics went all screwy. Had to restart my comp but.... the bugged graphics persisted! It even had the same glitched image of game on the screen when it tried to load windows. I couldn't get back into Windows at all. Loaded in Safe Mode.

    Updated Drivers
    Checked my motherboard bios
    Tried disabling and re-enabling vid card
    Turned down the graphics accelerator
    Re-installed Windows
    Formatted computer and re-installed
    I even tried cleaning the inside of the computer thinking maybe I had a clogged fan

    Nothing works. I can't enable my video card or I get that same, my guy standing there in the game, glitched image any time I do. I don't know if my card decided at that moment to die or if it's the game.

    Was running an Nvidia 8800 612 meg card with updated drivers

  16. You've got plenty of knock down with you primary and secondaries and there's a lot of powers in Earth/Earth that you can't use while flying. Super Speed gives you enough invisibility to check out a spawn pre-engagement and see who you'll hit with your holds and focus on.

    Domination gives you knockdown protection also and things can't knock you down when they're mezzed.
  17. I got my earth/earth to 40. Where I think he'll sit until they do something about this. Mean while I'm gonna work on my rad/psi blaster and maybe make a ice/psi/mako dom
  18. No stone cages dude. They are the worst aoe for damage, guzzel endurance, and they cancel out knock down which will void your earth quake. Quick sand is a MUCH better choice. Has more -defense, doesn't stop knockdown, keeps enemies just as immobilized as cages and is very endurance cheap.

    The devs just added stone cages you earth control as a cruel joke on whoever takes them. I believe this. It's a horrible power for earth controllers. It's like going "I'll give them a power that randomly holds enemies for 4 seconds (which is how long it takes for an enemy to fall down and get back up) which is very rarely resisted.... then I'll give them a power which cancels that out for a hand full of smashing damage and see how many times they die before they throw up their hands in frustration! Mwa ha ha ha ha!"

    Also drop stone prison (for the same reasons as cages) and Acrobatics (you don't need mez protection your domination mode gives you mez protection and when things are mezzed, they can't mezz back anyway) I'd take aid other and aid self instead. Aid self is an excellent power for doms and has saved mine many times. You can easily escape from a fight to use it or throw down a mezz and use it while your enemies are incapacitated.

    If you drop the super jump set all together and go with haste and super speed you can take a second cone attack from leviathan to go with the frost breath you already have. The two cones with ice sword circle you'll have some sweet aoe damage.
  19. I'd drop combat jumping and air superiority for Aid other and Aid self. Aid self is an awesome power for a dom and has saved my earth/earth several times because it's so easy for a dom to retreat to a safe place to use it or throw down another mez then use it. Also earth/earth isn't that endurance intensive at all. You can probably get away with dropping Sink for Ball Lightening which, sadly, will be your best aoe since Tremor is slow and Fissure is small. Between the three of them you'll have good aoe damage
  20. Dom fissure is also rather low damage and a small aoe. I've been on missions with it on a team and never hit more than three enemies at a time with it. Very disappointing. If it weren't for the sheer awesomeness of seismic smash I'd consider the set a wash and reroll with another secondary.
  21. It's not a stupid question at all. A LOT of people make the mistake of taking cages. Most make the argument for them in between begging for awakens.... lol
  22. Actually I just put one in Tremor and frankly it very rarely goes off even when hitting many enemies. I'm pretty sure they fixed it a while back so it goes off per cast, not per enemy hit. I remember when every bot mm and SS brute HAD to have them and they went for many millions on the market and now they're 100k for a lvl 50
  23. YES! There is no reason to take stone cages. It has the worst damage of any immob and it cancels knockdown which means your Earthquake will become pointless. Earthquake and quicksand keeps enemies in one spot AND keeps them from killing you. All cages does is "Hey, there's a mezzer! Let's kill him!"

    Plus you'll have a lot more endurance to work with for attacks that actually do damage. I'd suggest taking the Leviathan epic for waterspout and it has a cone aoe to go with your frost breath and a pretty high damage pet.

    Doms are real slow starters but stick with it man they get sick late game.
  24. So, what if I didn't care about the endurance of my enemies. Could I still put it into one of my powers and get some +endurance out of it or does it only work on its targets and not you.
  25. Is the performance shifter proc still bugged? As I recall... It was ONLY usefull in stamina because putting it into attack powers either did nothing or gave your enemies +endurance. I don't remember which it was. Anyway! Has it been fixed?
