You can get an LotG every 4 days, I think, by running hero or villain alignment missions (should be super easy with a build like this). Coercive Persuasion set I can understand, though.

Spirit Shark is somewhat bad in PvE because the damage is low vs its recharge time, which I think is just the opposite in PvP.

As far as incarnate slots go, I'm torn on it on my own build. Like you, I feel my build is a touch end heavy, so I will probably go that route, though I would love to be able to add a bunch of recharge to it.

Something else about hibernate: it puts you back in hide since they can't touch you.

No, this is wrong. Gambler's Cut is not just better DPS over the recharge and activation time of the powers, it's better DPS over just the activation time.

Since you're talking about heavy recharge builds, let's compare the two chains
At level 50, slotted with 3 dmg SO's:

GD>SotW>SD>SotW total time 6.204, total damage 779.38, total dps 125.63

GD>GC>SD>GC total time 5.412, total damage 701.44, total dps 129.6

Gambler's Cut is just better than Sting of the Wasp, period. Adding procs to those equations just makes the difference worse.

    Essence Mastery

    1) Why should it only be limited to human-only builds? I'm not sure I see a good reason to block form users from a non-overpowering ancillary pool.

    2) The pb ones look FREAKING AWESOME!!!1!!11

    3) Not really liking the ws ones Fold space would be really really not necessary/helpful; it's just a minor convenience thing to teleport everyone at the same time. You can already get Veng from a normal pool, so... I personally don't like Power Boost, and don't really find myself needing extension of the mez effects on my powers at all, plus stygian is extremely powerful as a heal anyway. Veil looks great obviously. And actually, I think I would pee your pants if I could get wormhole on my ws (my pants are a bit too awesome and dapper to pee at the moment). Maybe change "Wormhole" to "Black Hole" to fit the darknessnessness of warshades, and make it clump them together instead of flinging them about (more like a black hole and also great for our buffing needs).

Overall though, I would nominate you for kheldian ancillary pool committee.

Wait, wait, wait. Unless you are talking about burst, Gambler's Cut is definitely better than Sting of the Wasp. It has better regular dps (slot both with three level 50 dmg IO's, and calculate with arcanatime) and activates faster, meaning you can use it more frequently/any procs you have in it can go off more frequently.

Ok, this is what I might do to your build without changing powers or dipping into Pvp IO's or the expensive Purples.

Further changes I would personally make would be dropping Havoc Punch, Super Speed, pool Stealth, Smoke Flash (you can get several of the temp powers by the same name which are almost completely identical to the power in /nin), and Spirit Shark Jaws; I'd pickup Charged Brawl, Hibernoob, Caltrops, Kuji-in Retsu, and Summon Guardian (useful for extra dps, extra aggro soaking, good io sets, and supposedly increasing your crit rate by 3% as if it were a teammate).

    Elec/Nin

Question: Are you wanting to PvP with this build as well? It looks somewhat like you might since you grabbed a stealth io and pool stealth. If that is the case I can't suggest much other than try to grab kuji-in retsu and hibernate.

I have to go back to work shortly, but I can give you a few quick suggestions for pve.

Charged Brawl is better than Havoc Punch.

I know you have your ranged defense taken care of, but Blinding Powder screams for a full set of Coercive Persuasion.

One more slot for kuji-in sha will net you a nice recharge bonus. Where to get that slot is up to you, but there are a couple of places.

The Centriole in LR does not increase the damage radius of the power, just the distance you can teleport with it. If you are aware of that, then ok, but I would much rather put a recharge reducer in there.

You could slam another LotG in Weave.

It'd be really nice if you can squeeze a kismet unique into hide.

If you are not pvping, the stealth io is not doing anything, and the stealth pool power could be replaced with combat jumping for the same defense but lower end cost.

Aaaaaand... I'll be back later for more.

  9. Set bonuses to shoot for for nin/elec (if you stick with the stalker version): +rech, +defense, +hp, +regen. Your defense and regen look good, but your recharge and hp need some work.

Gambler's Cut > Sting of the Wasp

Slotting for SotW and Flashing Steel just won't do.

You don't need that much +recov on an /elec, because both Energize and Power Sink make end problems go away. For the same reason, Weapons Mastery is not your best choice.

If you have silly amounts of money you want to throw at this, you should try for perma Energize (around 205% global recharge with hasten plus another 100% rech in the power gets it), ~20% defense to m/r/a when all stealths are suppressed, stalker hp cap (1606), mid 20s hp/sec regen. You'd have to take a hit in resistance to get that, but if you switch to Soul or Leviathan patron you can get extra survivability there. You also have basically zero usable AoE, which you could fix at the same time. You might also want to enhance the damage on divine avalanche so it does some whittling while buffing you.

Not that I play PB's, but you could still go recharge and just get enough so that you can alternate conserve energy and lightform. You can get enough recharge now to do that without the alpha slot.
  11. Both the power and the temp power seem to have a listed accuracy of 1.4 (at least on tomax), which is very high. Both should also be affected by any global +acc or +tohit. I would consider slotting accuracy instead of recharge a waste, if I actually took the power.
  12. There's a temp power of the same name that is almost exactly the same thing (I think the recharge is the only difference); just keep a few of those and use the extra power choice to keep retsu.

  14. Right, but if you run arctic fog with group invis you get massively high stealth radius and the defense/resistance from both. Something that can see through the combined stealth of those two will see through any sort of stealth. Plus arctic fog gives slow resistance to the team, which can be pretty valuable in a few circumstances.
  15. Count the number of people saying "oh yes, I agree, their problems are withing the game system" and the people saying "um, there are much bigger problems here." Then go to one of the many So...Stalkers style threads with hundreds of posts with informed people voicing their concerns about the AT and how one could possibly fix it. Next, run the numbers on dps and survivability compared to the other Melee ATs. (If you think they are a special exception because they can neutralize an opponent, then compare them to doms, which have greater ability to do the same gimmick, can softcap to s/l defense, and can outperform the Stalker in dps and AoE dps all at the same time). Then tell me the AT is where it should be.
  16. Quote:
At this point, they are about as strong as we want to make them
Wait, you consider being weaker in dps, AoE dps, survivability, and self-buffing a fair tradeoff for being able to quickly down a single problem lieutenant or having the chance to fear mobs around a boss?

The example of shared aggro is an extremely minor problem compared with the fact that people don't want them on teams because Scrappers/Brutes consistently outperform them in pretty much every way.

There are situations where BU+Monnbeam could be valuable, but it is pretty rare. Basically, if you are trying to pull something you can use it, but the very long activation/interrupt time of the power make it useless for general play. Waterspout, however, is something you can make effective use of every time it is recharged.

That being said, pets don't generally go with stalkers, but they can serve a purpose... even if its just to mule IO sets.
I try to always take the pet, because it does quite a bit extra damage. There is also the not proven/disproven thing about a pet increasing your crit rate by 3% (acting as a teammate). I'll echo the thing about great set bonuses.

As far as EPP/PPP go, in my mind Leviathan is tops in pretty much any situation. Waterspout is just fantastic for damage, debuff, and mitigation. Stalkers also make great use of Hibernoob, which will put them back in hide while they recover. If you are interested in PvP, throwing of the sharks is supposed to be one of the heaviest hitting powers you got.

The snipes in other sets are very fringe powers, and the blasts from APPs don't crit, as mentioned. If you need help in Endurance/Accuracy, you can go with Body/Weapon mastery, but if you can solve those another way don't miss out on Leviathan.

Also, Soul Mastery has its uses, if you aren't softcapped, because of Shadow Meld, but it has a long cast time and short duration.
  21. It is not so difficult on a high end build to get 17% or so defense, which is the point where the discrepancy evens out against normal mobs I think (although this is not factoring in the excellent healing abilities of the shade, which lowers that discrepancy in anything but an AV fight).

I don't know though, I have a couple of softcapped characters myself: dm/shield scrapper, elec/nin stalker, and something else I can't remember softcapped to s/l. Both of the first two have really good heals to layer with the defense, as well as some s/l resistance. The warshade still tends to outsurvive them in any situation outside of massive endurance drain or protracted one-on-one's against EB's after I've defeated all fodder. Defense debuffs aren't a big deal for the shade, and neither are resistance debuffs actually; the nature of eclipse usually means I have plenty more than 85% resist stocked up so it takes several -res effects before I see a difference.

Both the shade and the stalker have phasing powers which can help in a really bad situation. In fact, I tend to prefer those two for the ITF over the Shield Scrapper because they deal with the -def much better.

There are only two other things I can think of that help the shade: mez from gravitic emanation and gravity well (which the OP has), and the hefty amounts of -rech/slow. Perhaps in human form the OP does not get much out of the -rech/slow as the main source would be dark detonation, while a triformer can volley off several AoE's from nova stacking those debuffs effectively. A quick look at mids tells me Nova Detonation's -rech lasts 10 seconds and Nova Emanation's lasts 8 seconds, but the ones in Human Detonation and Sunless mire last only 6 seconds.

My last idea for the OP is to grab Essence Drain. It is generally a pretty terrible power, but, because you don't have the Dwarf heal and have trouble leveraging Stygian at the right times, this may be a small help to you. Frankenslot it for max heal and good rech/acc/dmg. It's a 20% heal fully enhanced, maybe at every 7 seconds with your recharge levels.

I was calculating from the viewpoint of enemy attacks as 100%. Since your standard minion has only 50% tohit, only 50% of their original (100%) damage gets through, so you take 15%*50%=7.5% after resistance vs 5% at softcap. If you calculate the 50% tohit of standard mobs as 100% of damage as is frequently done then, yes, the difference is now 15% after resistance vs 10% at softcap. In either calculation 85% resistance takes 1.5 times the damage that the softcap takes, which is probably how I should have stated it originally.

Of course, with new mobs at 64% tohit (which I think we may see a lot more of in new content), the relative value of 85% resistance vs 45% def would change substantially...
  23. Microcosm

    Problem Enemies

Good stuff, guys. I've got a list going for nearly every enemy group now that I think is almost complete. I'm leaving out a few factions that either have mobs that all equally suck or are no special problem. I could use help still with Warriors and Vanguard. Which do you think are the worst mobs in those groups?

Edit: Oh and on Destroyers, is it just the "Big Dog" type that bother you, Gob?
  24. Quote:
Stygian Circle works good if you kill someone but its not going to give you enough health from one body as you get beat up by the mob.
It should; stygian circle heals you for 80% of your health off of one defeated opponent, unslotted. Are you monitoring your resistances to make sure you stay at that 85% cap? There is only a 2.5% difference in amount of damage you take when you are softcapped vs at 85% resistance. That is really, really tiny. Is the softcapped character you are comparing to a tank/brute/scrapper? Because you may be feeling a difference in total hp.

Hold Everything! I think I just spotted your problem. You don't have Dark Extraction. This is possibly your largest source of damage if you don't take nova form, especially at recharge levels that let you keep three out. Defeating enemies twice as fast or more will give you more fodder for Stygian Circle, and should alleviate at least some of our survival problems.
  25. What are you fighting that makes 85% resistance not good enough?
In order to mimic the mitigation of 45% softcapping to all positions against regular (50% base tohit) mobs, I believe you would need about 16% defense to go with your 85% resistance.

Other than that I can't really comment as I am no expert on human-only builds. I guess remember to use Stygian Circle?
