So. Epics.

I'm looking for some input on the various Stalker epics, mostly the blasts more than the pets (don't like them). I'm sadly underinformed, mostly knowing that the Snipes have ridiculously long cast times (easily double what is sensible) and that the epic blast numbers in Mids were bugged at some point and may still be.

So. Your experiences, with PPPs and APPs alike, please?

Now, while you might like pets, I might mention that with i19 you might have an extra slot to use for the pet purple set, which has really good IO bonuses including 16% regen and 4% damage buffs.
That being said, pets don't generally go with stalkers, but they can serve a purpose... even if its just to mule IO sets.

I just know Epic blasts can't critical right now and I am deeply disappointed as I took throwing star.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Waterspout has become my best friend, and turned the tide in several bad fights. Only drawback is that it does draw agro to you, but the sheer chaos it causes gives plenty of opportunities.

I try to always take the pet, because it does quite a bit extra damage. There is also the not proven/disproven thing about a pet increasing your crit rate by 3% (acting as a teammate). I'll echo the thing about great set bonuses.

As far as EPP/PPP go, in my mind Leviathan is tops in pretty much any situation. Waterspout is just fantastic for damage, debuff, and mitigation. Stalkers also make great use of Hibernoob, which will put them back in hide while they recover. If you are interested in PvP, throwing of the sharks is supposed to be one of the heaviest hitting powers you got.

The snipes in other sets are very fringe powers, and the blasts from APPs don't crit, as mentioned. If you need help in Endurance/Accuracy, you can go with Body/Weapon mastery, but if you can solve those another way don't miss out on Leviathan.

Also, Soul Mastery has its uses, if you aren't softcapped, because of Shadow Meld, but it has a long cast time and short duration.

To get the right bonuses for soft-capping, I can either use Moonbeam (slotted for snipe damage) or water spout (slotted for stun). Is Water Spout a clear winner, or are their situations where BU+Moonbeam would be ideal for a stalker?

I am at a point where I am just short of soft-capped (within a percentage point) from all three positions. The bonuses to both AoE and Melee from Razzle Dazzle and Extreme Measures are the tipping point for the build. I am only at 38 right now (elec/nin), so I have some time to get this right.

Soul Mastery seems very tasty, but I can't help but think it'd be tastier if my secondary wasn't Ninjitsu.

Leviathan Mastery.... Spirit Shark is crap-tastic outside of PvP. Hibernate is too ice-y for my theme.

Weapon Mastery is.... promising, but the shuriken powers, though fitting the theme, are somewhat uninspired.

I'm admittedly currently eyeing Blaze Mastery. Even though it'd make me take Char, the animation of which I am not partial towards.

There are situations where BU+Monnbeam could be valuable, but it is pretty rare. Basically, if you are trying to pull something you can use it, but the very long activation/interrupt time of the power make it useless for general play. Waterspout, however, is something you can make effective use of every time it is recharged.

Patron blasts can though.

A lot of people take the sharks, but I like Soul Mastry on my nin/nin and I reccommend it for any defense based secondary. You've got a -tohit ranged attack with decent damage, a short term def buff that's beautiful when used before your initial AS, a snipe, and a hold which has a rather hilarious animation.

Personally, I dropped the snipe a while ago because I wasn't using it, however the pool in total has a really nice mix of slotting utility, and ACTUAL utility with at least one power (shadow meld) that's rather good right out of the box.

I run a softcapped build, but you'd be suprised how good shadow meld is at covering your *** in a CDF, or any sort of autohit-def situation (longbow nullifiers, stupid earth mezzers, etc.) Though I usually use it as a preemptive before going AS on a group I know is going to debuff me. Not only that, because it's fine right out of the box it was an easy free slot of a gambler 7.5% rech. Which left me wiggle room on my toggles to slot other stuff.

If you run on higher difficulties, the hold can be damn nice to go with it, allowing you lockdown mitigation on multiple single problem targets following your AS (sappers, fortunatas, giant eyeballs) or save your placate for crit fuel or emergencies.

Dark blast is just nice to have to finish off runners, or stack the -tohit on tough EBs and AVs to enhance survivability even further, which actually gives you more mitigation than adding more def to the build could possibly give.

Not only that, you have a whole lot of slotting options if you just want to use what's in the set for mules.
