Quote:*Stamps Joe's forehead*EDIT - not that I want to break the game, or anything. As I said, I'm very happy with my IO'd peacebringer right now. BUT I wouldn't be a very good self-appointed advocate (and who asked me to be an advocate, anyway? what the hell am I thinking?) for peacebringers if I ignored those premium players who will suddenly have to buy access to the invention system if they want their newly-purchased peacebringers to perform as well as....
I hereby appoint you pb advocate of at least one other player. -
Quote:Dead on. Time can work so well with a little defense from the pets, or, with a little more effort, can work with pets that have no defense too. Stacking softcap onto the resistance of demons, for example, should be very nice.i vehemently disagree with pairing ninjas and a resist set. even though thermal is great mitigation with resists and solid heals ninjas are the epitome of the term "glass cannon" and placing "leather armor" on a piece of glass will still cause it break and shatter. Def sets like FF, Time, Traps, and -to hit sets like Dark and Storm go very well with Ninjas.
And in case you were wondering yes powerboost AND clarion radial epiphany(the one that inc special) gives your farsight 30ish DEF to all. with def IO and maneuvers and their innate 6.9ish% positional def they can just reach the softcap. (NOTE: Jounins will be higher than that) Now add 15.5% to hit debuff with time juncture and musculature alpha, Sprinkle on a HOT and your ninjas are G O L D E N. They kill so fast IF they are kept alive. Heck /time even gives you an AOE -res/def every spawn power as well as a mini fortitude on your jounins to crit even harder.
I love /time soo much. -
Quote:I disagree with this for a few reasons. First, several masterminds do have powers that like recharge, like gang war or smoke bomb or hell on earth. Second, in teams the mm will be equally helpful as the corruptor with buffing and debuffing. Solo, while the +rech part of chrono shift will have a larger affect on the corruptor, corruptors won't be able to get any benefit from temporal selection, unlike the mm that can use it on their pets. Third, time is pretty active, and the corruptor who uses it will take a loss in damage from actively clicking secondary powers, but the mm can click away because its damage comes from the pets.No. Just no simply because the +recharge powers do not work on the pets. There is no point to playing this set or any set that boosts recharge on a mastermind simply because you get little to no benefit. Sure the last power might make your other powers recharge but thats not going to help you as much as it would a defender or corrupter that actually has attacks that does real damage. I am only doing time on defenders and corrupters.

Group flight is the most skippable.
Personally I skipped group flight, dawn strike, the toggle shields, quantum flight, eyes, and the rez.
Absolute nonskippables to me would be lightform, inner light, essence boost, reform essence, and radiant strike. Everything else depends on what you want to do. -
Quote:Sorry, the forums wouldn't let me log in for days. To answer your question, it might give a small boost (havent checked the math), but not nearly as much as electric melee. Electric melee can do this every time lightning rod and buildup recharge, as long as it has either caltrops or waterspout or the jump to combine with it. All other sets would only be able to do it as often as jump was recharged, which will be significantly longer. Also lightning rod is a very strong attack and one you would want to use as recharged regardless, which is not necessarily true of the leap attack.Fireball isn't relevant to a discussion of single-target damage unless it does moer than a ST attack.
as far as your questions however, Microcosm seems to think so, and he's tried it. I have not. but am looking at making at least 1 stalker for Exalted and not sure what sets to take. Besides, can always go /nin and use caltrops instead of waterspout and if there's a group, fireball instead of AS.
but my question was more about single-target damage, not aoe. The postulate from microcosm was that in ST damage, the waterspout/lightning rod trick was a significant boost to elm's damage. My question is to extrapolate: is the same true of other sets using the new attacks?
By the way it would need to be waterspout>Caltrops>BU>leap>AS to pull it off. -
You can do better than 30% via power boost or clarion radial, which is a major bonus in favor of time unless you don't want to take those powers.

This has been recommended several times and I believe nearly everyone supports it. The endurance costs shouldn't be an issue as we used to not have stamina in the forms, but now we do. Either way it would be a huge qol improvement. Hopefully they can implement it when they lower the form animations.

Quote:Ya, while there is a significant amount of pure energy attacks, I have found the incidental e/n defense I have combined with resistance cap makes it a non-issue. I might try melee/ranged see if I can do better.I find I have more room in building positional defense up (on a Peacebringer) than trying to build up all types. There's really probably no way to do it without it looking gimpy as hell, though. I only brought it up when you said:
I'm wondering how you arrived at 45% on the Incarnate Softcap, as you seemed to bring it up after I mentioned why I'd be using Barrier. -
-
Quote:Heck no, I'm pretty sure that's not even possible, or, if it is, wouldn't completely destroy your build. Softcap s/l with a solid chunk of melee and others, but I grabbed some extra psi def/res. My current warshade build has no problems soloing any part of the incarnate trials with a bit less than that.Ohh, did you actually build all the way to the softcap (normal content wise) for all the damage types we encounter in Incarnate trials? I'm not even softcapped for s/l, which is my highest defense... it's at 31.6% in Mids and still won't hit 45% when combat flight provides typed defense. My positions are at 29% melee, 27% ranged, and 22% aoe.

Quote:Shining Shield provides 22.5% resistance unslotted, so you'll definitely be fine going that route.Well, I'm hoping that Shining Shield 1-slotted will provide about 9% S/L Resist cuz that's all I need. I want Weave, but I'd rather skip Tough as it's likely not needed to reach S/L resist cap with Light Form if Shining Sheild does as I hope. I'd get Kick and Boxing as 4-slot Kinetic Combat mules and requirements for Weave.
Shield Wall..couple Billion Inf for +3% resist... Uhm no, I can't believe people pay for that one. -
Quote:Awesome referenceQuite true that New Lightform wont mez protect like it used to and yes having a break free can be beautiful....but I'll still have the tray button on all my Khelds that transforms them to dwarf mode as they pay tribute to Jack King Kirby by saying the magic words "Gone! Gone, the form of man! Arise the Kheldian, Kheldigran!"
I, too, will be retaining both forms as usable set-mules. I am not worried about the incarnate softcap, as 45% defense + a vet-boosted luck (13.125%) = less than 1% short of incarnate softcap. -
Quote:You could also grab the fighting pool using tough for that extra resistance and weave for a good amount of extra defense/LotG mule. A shield wall unique would be the most expensive way to fix it but require only one slot.I've got the steadfast in Incadescence already. I'll do Mids when I get home; it's just that 'gettin home' is several hours from now and when I get a thought in my head I'm figgity until I find out, so was hoping someone knew right off. Basically, if Shining Shield (1 slotted) can get me around 9% S/L defense I'm good
-
I'm going rebirth radial to complement the boosted HP pb's get; I will already have the defense and resistance I want from my build and when the mez protection in lightform is not enough I'll just pop a breakfree. Rebirth will add a significant amount to my max survivability.

Quote:I... Didn't know it worked that way. This changes my calcupations. What that does is reset you to full HP, then drop you to 50%. It's a way to make it have a 50% hitpoint crash without killing you (if you have less than 50% hitpoints when it crashes). (Yes this means that if for example you only have 30% hitpoints left when it crashes, the crash will actually "heal" you by 20%.)
All HP crash powers (Unstoppable, etc) function like this... they just normally drop you to much lower HP. -

Making pools work in forms doesn't have to leave a slippery slope situation, though letting human powers activate in them likely does.

Quote:It's not too difficult. You can have:Id love to take a look at this build whne you have the time. I know I can get the Perma part down.. Im just not good at figuring out all the defensive stuff.. and I dont use a lot of purples or those PvP sets.. I dont have the influence..
Up to 5 sets of kinetic combat
Up to 4 sets of Rectified Reticle (Inner Light, Bright Nova, Tactics, Vengeance)
Up to 3 of any of the taunt sets that grant s/l defense
Up to 5 sets of Reactive Armor
The Steadfast Unique
Up to 5 defense toggles (Combat Jumping, Stealth, Weave, Maneuvers, Combat Flight)
Plus other sets that give large amounts of melee defense will give half that value of s/l
The trick is in finding the right combination for the powers you want to take and enhancement percentages you want to achieve. -
It grants a certain number of protection points, not immunity. If the number of a certain type of mez on you is high enough, it will overcome that protection and you will be mezzed. A group of green ink men can easily stack enough stuns to mez you through your protection.
-
Unfortunately enddrain is weakness we have. You can look forward to having that weakness all the way to 50, although certain powers and tactics like others have mentioned will help.
-
I'll just jump in to say that while I used to build solely for recharge, I have added defense since incarnate powers came out and seen a staggering rise in survival such that I can solo anything, including the baf adds and the lambda collections. With perma eclipse and other tools alone I could survive via stunning and kb, but I wouldnt be able kill things fast enough because of how active my mitigation would be. The softcap allows me to focus on killing my targets.
-
It can be a nice place for a BotZ -kb as well.
