My main concern is that it's so conceptually limiting. Yeah, it can be altered some with having the wand being able to be (as part of weapon customization,) say, an athame, crsytal of some sort, etc, but... you're not just limiting this to a Magic origin, but a Magic user who would use wands, as opposed to spells, books, scrolls, or just "innate" magic.
Eh. I get what you're trying to do, don't get me wrong. I just think people might feel *too* limited by it. (After a quick skim, that's really the only concern.) While, as BBQ points out, there are similar sets (AR/BS/DB/WM,) they're only weapon-limited, not really weapon-and-origin.
If it were handled like an epic of some sort, unlocked via a task force or some such, I think it'd be easier to get away with. -

The update page says nothing about Dual Pistols or Demon Summoning (though I think Demon Binding sounds kewler).

Isn't there a loading screen text that talks specifically about a named hero coming from a dimension where demon binding is common?

I'm all for it, if the demographics information supports it. And for something that wouldn't (I'd assume) require as much work, a Spanish language tag in MA, since we already have French and German for our Euro compatriots.

They're likely referring, if nothing else, to the slot type the graphic card uses.
For instance, if my (older, backup) system's video card, a 6800 GT died, I'd have a heck of a time finding a replacement. I couldn't pick up another 9800GT like I just put in my main system - since it's PCI Express. Why? The old system is still running AGP.
If your system is a pre-built (Dell, Gateway, Falcon Northwest,) you should be able to find out on their site or on your order form, perhaps. If it's one that was put together, finding the mainboard will tell you what type of slots it has. -
All they have to do is make two characters. Play one for a few days, play the other for a few days... Oh, look, the first one now gets XP faster for a while!
/unsigned.
Levelling is already incredibly easy, even before XP smoothing, debt reduction, half debt in missions, and everything else that's been done. Why rush people to the end of the game when there's *nothing there?* ESPECIALLY new people? -

Have you run Darren Wade's stuff villainside? I'm hoping it leads to a bit more.
And we had ... plenty of Ruularu aspects spawning on test for the anniversary party thing. -
Well, the costume items... post in Jay's Costume Request Thread.
He does read it.
Target dummies: Sure, why not.
Music: Might be restricted, as you mentioned, but sure.
Lights: I think I'd rather see this only after "personal apartments" come in, whenever that might be.
... actually, I think we need a base item request thread, if one doesn't already exist in base construction. (I haven't been in that forum for a bit, so I don't know.) -
I actually doubt I'd worry about local - most of the ones I watch are in global
but that list is long enough that I think I'd only want the "live" ones showing.
All in all, though, looks impressive. -

More tfs!
[/ QUOTE ]
Again... see the issue 15 preview. -
There's also the issue that, really - even playing normally, there are few groups you don't outlevel. The only groups it would matter with would be Longbow, Arachnos, the Council and Circle of Thorns. And even then - you fight against them. I mean, as a level 35 Blaster (for instance,) say I go help with a fire in Steel Canyon. Lots of hellions there - that cap otu at level 15. (They literally do not exist past that level.) What are they going to do as I nuke them, generating "grudge" or "hate" - send an ambush of -20s?
It would work, I suppose, if this were more of a sandbox game. And really, if it were introduced, I'd see it working better on villainside (choose to work for or against Darrin Wade in the Shard, or choose between the Traditionalists and the Restructurists.) I can't actually think of a place that choice would make sense heroside with the groups and storylines we have. 5th column vs Council? They're both a threat to the city and you want to stop them both. Rikti? Protect the ones working for peaceful relations, stop the ones who want to overrun the planet. It's far more cut-and-dried blueside with what we have right now. -

Do you people not understand example? I don't really care what powers you take, when...it's not a real build. It's not like you can only do this if you're a Fire/Fire Blaster! That's what I used in the example, right? Don't build it this way if you don't want to! I was just throwing powers out there as I remembered their names. Can we talk about things that actually matter to the guide?
[/ QUOTE ]
Pfft, what fun is that?

I think Fredrick hit it on the head pretty well.
When I delete a drop, it's because:
(a) there's no demand for it (lvl 10 fear set? Any Intangible recipe?)
(b) I've *had* it on the market for a month at 100 inf and it hasn't sold. No, that's not an exaggeration.
There's no reason for them to go back *on* the market in that case. -

*Pyramid snipped since Mod8 has been working so hard the last 24 hours and needs a break*
Again if parity is the issue, then you must agree that Scrappers should get Pyre Mastery before ANYTHING else is done, simply to allow that AT to have four choices, no?
P.S. Like I've said in those arguments over merging the game fully, I really don't see sides or parity or any of that nonsense. It's one game to me. And it would be a better game if ethos was a choice not a destiny.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't argue if Scrappers got it. *shrug* Especially with the ability to have Fire/Fire scrappers now. Not for the sake of 'parity,' in that case, but for the sake of 'It's been a while since they got something new, and it has a theme to complete.' If we get elec/elec ported over, I'd want to see an Electric mastery, too.
The biggest issue with giving non-patron choices to villains is that you can't, other than brutes, port them directly over. (Brutes would *likely* get Tank sets, since I doubt we'll see, say, Stone scrappers.) Would Stalkers get Scrapper sets? They have different weaknesses - they'd probably see a blending of Scrapper and Blaster. Dominators already get ranged damage, which is one of the hallmarks of Controller sets - so those couldn't be directly ported over, as they're generally meant to "fill holes." Corruptors would probably get adjusted Defender sets. And then there's Masterminds... It wouldn't be a "simple port," in the end. But I still think it's worth doing.
As far as the other - well, this is a reasonably nice thread, I'd rather not derail it getting into the same argument we *know* we don't agree on. So I'll just say "Yer mom was an iguana!" and leave it at that.

How many lowbies do you see running around with Sprint or some variant on - or even a travel power - while in missions? Slot it, get some faster, non-END-using movement... and isn't the path to Stamina started specifically because of END issues?
[/ QUOTE ]I said near the end of the guide, "Heck, you can even substitute SWIFT in for one of the powers if you like the movement speed bonus".
[ QUOTE ]
This also ignores that people may not *want* leaping. Teleport? Here's Recall Friend - still a staple among some support characters. Fly gets another attack in Air Superiority. And Speed gets Hasten. Yes, you mention "space to pick something else up" later in the guide anyway, but it needed saying.
[/ QUOTE ]I also said "in this example, we'll be using Super Jump" in the overview...which means, um, well, this is an example only, and you're not limited to doing it this way. @_@
[/ QUOTE ]
I realize that.
It's more along the lines of "If you're reading this, consider.... "
I don't argue with the suggestion or conclusion at all. Just - I suppose the best way is "putting in a reminder of what all the powers do besides fill a prerequisite" for someone reading it later. -
[ QUOTE ]
The original 5 TFs, though, were horribly built because they were meant to be just huge long story arcs with the same tech the old story arcs had.

*nitpick* Posi was actually meant to be two, designed for a SG. They got combined into the long one we have now.
The more you know... *star* -
I'd argue this point:
[ QUOTE ]
This means that a whole THREE POWERS are taken up by utility powers that don't really do very much for you,
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd assume, from your italicization, you mean swift, health, and combat jumping. While yes, these are utility powers, they most certainly *do* do something for you, and shouldn't be ignored.
Swift, surprisingly, is probably the biggest one. Why?
How many lowbies do you see running around with Sprint or some variant on - or even a travel power - while in missions? Slot it, get some faster, non-END-using movement... and isn't the path to Stamina started specifically because of END issues?
Combat jumping, aside from the (very tiny) bit of defense, gives immobilization protection. That, of course, also ignores being a place to put in a KB IO should you get your hands on one.
As far as the gist of the guide itself - no argument. <3 dual builds, and yes, I actually do use them this way (among other ways - "Heavy scrapper" vs "Tank" builds, "Solo" vs "team" and more. They're a $deity-send.) -

You can have more Epics when villains get a full set of thematically appropriate choices.
[/ QUOTE ]
Note, I play every AT and have four villains in epic range. So my question is: WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Obviously, it's easier to give Scrappers Fire Mastery than it is to create four-five new Brute choices in one fell swoop. It doesn't hurt Brutes for them not to have them right now.
There are no sides. This is one game. Asking for something for one AT doesn't hurt another.
my 2 inf.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know why, but I find that very amusing coming from you, EG
Probably from the "All ATs on all sides!" bit that we don't agree on. >.>
Honestly, though, if that ever happened, just due to parity (and as much as I dislike that, given it's the reason for VEATs unlocking at 50, I have to believe it IS a consideration with the devs,) villainside would *have* to get something - or at least an announcement of something.
Personal preference is what I stated before. Nice, big package deal - Heroes can choose a patron (or whatever they'd call it,) villains can choose "neutral" APPs. -
The problem with it is... that some people like it.
If they ever decide to do the huge rewrite that power customization would require, I'm sure this would be part of it. -
Well, it's victim of my altitis, as well... I've got maybe six brutes. Admittedly, it takes less than 15 minutes to have all of them fight, but still.
I like having one of them jump on top of another and steal his/her/its weapon. I find it amusing.
