Quote:IOW: Perfect example of meaning misconstrued thanks to a pure text medium. Though if multiple people are reading it that way, TJ, you may want to pay closer attention to your wording.I've not made snide comments towards Steelclaw before. I didn't make any here.
I made a joking comment that I was waiting for the rest of the list. I based that on Steelclaw's history of posting lists.
I then made another joking comment that I heard they were supposed to be funny. And I've heard that from several people, some in this very thread.
Your tossing your stones in the wrong direction. -
Quote:I want an IO that will transfer other peoples KB to *my* powers! >.> And then one that will let me transfer the extra KB over to whatever EvilGeko is playing, just to see if I can get him to do a Kirk-esque "Khaaaaaaaaaaannn!" in response.I play a WS and the KB to KD IO will help make my WS be even better.
I don't play a PB because it does too much KB. I'm hoping the KB to KD IO will improve things enough so I can play it again.
(OK, serious question though... putting the IO on the shade where, gravitic? Or one of the Nova blasts? Just out of curiosity, since KB is usually a PB complaint, not a shade complaint.) -
Quote:When I ran my 'shade a little earlier today, it looked like a power tray sandwich - Nova powers on top, Nova powers on bottom (firing off at the same time, of course,) everything else in the middle...UGH! I haven't even tried playing my kheldians with this yet... that's going to annoy me to no end.
It's actually rather distracting. -
Quote:It's a valid point, though, if one of your arguments for not playing the AT is a skippable power. Thus my (rather extreme, admittedly) counterexample. My days of not taking you seriously are coming to a middle.
To put it another way, what would you say to someone who said they wouldn't play scrappers because they didn't want to have to take Confront? Probably the same thing I said - "Then don't take it."
And I'm not trying to pick on you (or anyone else putting their arguments for why they don't play them forward.) But if I see reasons for not playing what I consider to be a fun pair of ATs that are fixable or perception issues, I'm going to try to correct that.
For instance, your other comment about it being some "alien thing and not your character," while right after it you follow up with "I can ignore the uniform on SOAs." (Which unless you've purchased slots you can't for the first 10 levels.) If you think about it, what's the difference? Don't take the forms, ignore the story line, and there's nothing keeping you from saying you're - say - an entity from anti-paragon who fell into this world and strengthens themselves from their enemies. For the SOA, ignore the uniform, ignore the story and do your own thing.
I have heard people make the same complaint, by the way, about "having" to take nova. They quite honestly thought they would be forced into taking the form(s.) When they found out they didn't (and I had to log in a humanform PB for one of them before they'd believe me,) some decided to go ahead and try them.
Basically, I don't want people ignoring what can be a fun pair of ATs because of incorrect information. Or ignoring one because they think the other's just a differently colored version and there's no other changes. -
Just to address a few:
Try a Warshade. The powers *are* different in most cases. Gravitic Emanation is the big (humanform) knockback - along with the nuke, of course - and it's generally looked at as a useful positioning and stunning tool. There's nothing like Dawn Strike, Radiant Strike, or Photon Seekers - instead, you get damaging self-buffing PBAOEs and ranged pets.
There's more difference between the two than just color. Give a 'shade a try.
Quote:- The look of Nova Form isn't appealing to me.
Quote:- Are -very- expensive to build/slot.
Now, if you wanted to say *difficult* to slot, I'd agree they can be, especially if you go triform. Triform on SOs/commons can be very difficult - but it's a heck of a learning experience that can only help with your other characters. And if you don't do IOs before, learning about frankenslotting, then set bonuses (both of which help, *especially* frankenslotting) to help offset that slot crunch - again is something that you can carry through to your other characters.
Quote:- Very High learning curve, especially when going Tri-Form.
Quote:- Storyline feels like Citadel TF all over again. And again. And again. Or just ignore it, or space it out more.
OK, it's council heavy, I'll grant, and that can get to be a bit much for some people. Understandable. Then again, there's reason for that, given the Nictus hiding behind the Council and their plans for both the Kheldians and for Earth. (Of course, you get some unique Freakshow, too....) -
Quote:How often? From who?And I've seen the opposite kind of behavior. Doesn't invalidate your statement anymore than your experience invalidates mine.
If it were common behaviour - and note, I don't go through and advertise "Hey, I play a Kheld, too!" or anything that would get someone to shut up - I'd expect to see it and hear about it with SOME sort of frequency over the last 19 issues I've played them. Either from the people complaining or the people that were denied/kicked from a team because someone told them "I don't play with khelds because of voids/q/cysts."
I haven't. At all. Ever. In globals, in PUGs, ever. I see people get kicked for not being a "healer," or complaining the leader picked up (for instance) my Controller (ice/emp) instead of a "healer," more often (averaging about once a year over the last several years.)
Maybe you run with the same people frequently and there's one person there who has that hangup, I don't know, but when I say I have never seen that behaviour, I literally mean *never.* And I play pretty much everywhere, with plenty of alts at all levels, so I'd have to have run across that bias expressed at *some* point. -
Quote:Soooo.... don't take nova or dwarf. They are optional. Otherwise it's like saying "I don't take any travel powers because I hate how Jump Kick looks."I don't have that problem with SoA's because I can make the costume and just ignore the SoA part. But I don't want to play a flying squid, or a dwarf thing.
Quote:Originally Posted by Plug_NickelThis is my reason as well. The coolest thing about this game is that we have the freedom to make any superhero we want. Kheldians seem "pre-made", and I have no interest in playing someone else's character.

If anything, I've seen teams volunteer to *protect* the Kheldian, calling out the enemy in case the Kheld doesn't see them and taking them out first unless there's something that's a bigger threat to everyone. I've had to tell teams I didn't need protecting - and to not worry that I'm running in and tackling the Void (I tend to make it a point to hunt them on my Khelds anyway.) -
Quote:Play a Kheld. I use binds for mine, like most multiformers seem to.This is pretty much exactly how I play. I rarely use the mouse except to place Location AoE type powers or Teleport.
Until and unless the APB (alternate power bar) is given a way to be used by the keyboard AND customizable in terms of where a power ends up in it... the whole thing is functionally useless to me (unless like on the Tyrant mission my regular trays go away).
We can't *not* use the tray at this point - it pops up regardless. And unlike temp powers, it doesn't appear you can remove the form powers from it. After all, the only way you can delete those is to get rid of the form.(And yes, I did just log in and try a few ways to remove the powers - including "remove from tray" in the powers window. No go.) -
Quote:I wouldn't go that far. I see it as being *really* nice for new bi or triform Khelds, quite honestly. They won't *have* to learn about keybinds and such. They should, IMHO, but they won't have to - which will make the AT more accessible. The extra tray is of no use to me. I find it very annoying and believe it should be removed immediately.
Quote:At the very least, we should have the option of turning this new "feature" off. -
Roderick is correct. Went through it myself.
Alternately, if there are any characters there you don't care TO unlock, you'll have a "free" open slot. (Scroll past your characters and you should see a bunch of Create Character, then - since you mention 0/15 - a bunch of locked slots.
Personally, I'd love either an "Unlock all" button or the ability, when re-upgrading to VIP, to just put a check next to a slew of characters and click "Unlock Checked Characters." -
Or ignore it for a while until the devs finally push out some solo/small team stuff or antoher way to get Advanced iXP. Just in time for Superadvanced iXP, then iXP DeLuxe....
-
This was, if you're familiar with game systems, the Tri-Stat version of Silver Age Sentinels. (They went to D20 later.)
I think I had upward of 20 dice of various sorts in for that one attack. The killer is it wasn't even "combat." It was sort of a tournament for new hero groups to make a name for themselves.
I had to be fairly careful of that when we finally got up to a space station... and couldn't stand in one area or near an outside wall for very long.
Quote:I've thought about that, and if you can keep all of your toons, and all the variants of those toons, seperate (or just don't mind not having them seperate in you mind), then more power to you. My mind boggles at the thought of trying that myself.

Quote:The only thing I can think of is that you had someone on the league who didn't have Lore or Destiny unlocked and the league leader didn't have league error messages enabled. Otherwise, yeah, sounds like a launch day bug.
See if everyone is willing to just use the team up teleporter - those that don't have the slots unlocked won't have the trial showing in their LFG iTrial queue selection. (Just verified on a 50 that just has alpha - nothing higher than MoM/DD showing. ) If that's the issue, that should avoid it. -
You don't, yet.
Already requested, don't know if they're working on it or not. (If they are, you'll still see it pop up for things like itrials and the panther travel power.) -
Ugh. OK. Yeah, that's broke.
... who is it, synapse for powers? May want to fire a PM off to him as well. (Zwill if you're not sure, he'll bring it to the right person's attention - but /bug it in game too.)
(Edit: Fired off PM to Z and Freitag to add to known issues, and Synapse to look into it. Hope I'm remembering synapse right!) -
I'm sure they'll fix it as quickly as they realized a solo/small team path for the *last* version of iXP was needed....

.... not that I'm complaining. -
Only thing I see is:
Stalker Ablating Strike now properly triggers proc enhancements only on its main target.
... not sure how that affects Sweep, since Ablating Strike is the last power in that combo.
What's going on? -

Quote:Multiboxing is not (typically) playing on multiple servers at once. It's having two (or more) accounts on the same server and running them at the same time. Thanks for the offer.
Okay. But what I don't understand is, once you have a name on one or two servers, what's the point of taking it on the other ~10? No offense, but that just seems greedy to me. After all, you can only play one toon at a time -- unless you are multi-boxing?
As far as why take it on other servers?
- It's "your" signature character. And you don't want to use transfers to move it.
- Defensively, so someone has to alter the name if they're trying to make you look bad - don't think it's ever happened that I can recall, but who knows.
- Kind of related to the first, but different versions of the same character, treating each server as a different dimension or timeline. Or just trying different powersets.
For instance, I've got Memphis Bill pretty much everywhere. I've talked about where the character came from before - inspired by Scuzz in DP7 (basically "sweats" acid,) I created a character for a Silver Age Sentinels game with the same issue, but strong - and yeah, borrowed the firing "spitballs" that I managed to blow up a bunker with. >.> (Epic die roll.)
COH came out, I figured, what the heck, that's who I'm making. First character. The strength was easy - Superstrength. The second powerset, though... there was no dark armor for tanks at the time, and nothing but fire fit. So, Fire/SS tank. Later, I rolled up a Spines/DA scrapper. Friends started a SG on another server - Fire/EM, just because. COV came out - alternate universe where he was initially a gang member, got too successful, was betrayed, ambushed and dumped in an industrial waste dump (which triggered the area damage and other effects) - SS/Dark Brute. Tanks finally got dark armor - Dark/SS tank. Kinetic Combat comes out - Fire/Kin tank (which, yes, was the other reason for that, as "tank" is not normally what people think of when they hear "fire/kin.") Have another that's Street Justice. Another that's a Warshade - all different ways of expressing the same character.
