No, YOU don't want to accept what's been said many times above. Nothing in that description says you "Never ever ever ever touch a piece of technology for transportation or even as a weapon." It's talking about your core abilities.

    the human naturals mentioned
Where was the word "Human" invoked anywhere in there? (See also Kheldians, also "Natural.") Let's look again:
    Quote:
You aren't 'super' at all; your amazing talents come from intense training and innate abilities. You might have been driven to physical excellence by some all-encompassing desire for perfection or revenge, or perhaps you are not human at all, and possess powers natural to your race. With your natural origin you have to rely on your cunning and skill. This origin will give you access to Throwing Knives. This attack has a very short range and deals minor Lethal damage, as well as inflicting additional Damage over Time.
Hmm. I don't see Human mentioned in there at all, except for this:

    Quote:
perhaps you are not human at all, and possess powers natural to your race
    Quote:
About adding some device to give them these abilities.
If this isn't the technology origin theme ability then what is?
As has been explained to you MANY TIMES in this thread - Using a device for a specific purpose (getting from point A to point B) does not change the CORE SOURCE OF YOUR POWERS... you know, your origin.

How is this so damn hard for you to understand?

Using a jetpack, for instance, does not suddenly mean your punches and kicks are "tech origin," any more than taking the train or a teleporter from one zone to the next are.

If you want to be THAT "true" to your origin, take the tram and *walk.* Since sprint FAR outpaces what a "natural human" is going to do, even well trained, for a significant distance. As does Swift, quite bluntly.

Or, as I said before - take superspeed and don't consider it one of the character's powers. Consider it just like a movie - you're fast forwarding through the boring "walking to get there" part, because you're not a director and can't cut out the "They get in a car and drive for 45 minutes" part from the film. Turn it off when you're in the mission. It's not your character's power, it's your player's convenience.

I don't think, quite frankly, that this is you "trying to be true to your origin" but "trying to inconvenience yourself as much as possible while pretending it's a crusade."

As to the motorcycle concept and being done in the game already.

    1. We have interchangeable power animations/effects now. (Spikes)
Which draw on the same model. They don't alter the figure.
    Quote:
    2. We have transportation power effects that have costume like effects. (Various Jet Packs)
Which strap onto the basic figure without restricting their movement or forcing a specific pose with points all body parts must adjust to like a motorcycle would.
    Quote:
    3. We have costume pieces that have animations. (Tails)
    See prior comment.
    Quote:
    4. We have different stances for running and standing possible by new powers. (ninja run)
    See prior comment.
    Quote:
    5. We have costume pieces that stick out from the body, a lot. (Wings, Tails, Enforcer set items)
    See prior comment.
    Quote:
So being able to make a costume like thing pop out and change your pose to replace the normal super run ability seems very reasonable. In fact, after reading the questions from Friday, I think the vehicle question got skillfully dodged to leave vehicles that you do not "get into", like the motorcycle, to be VERY possible. So much so, that as of now, I am just waiting for motorcycles to come out as I am sure it will probably be here by the end of the year.
    Hold your breath. No, really.

No, we will not see vehicles, including motorcycles. Motorcycles - focusing JUST on that - do things NONE OF THE OTHERS do. It involves forced posing - of three body types at ALL scales, with ALL parts having a range of sizes, and trying to get them to line up in *specific* spots. You'll note there is nothing in game that does that. No, a jetpack does not. Nor do wings or tails. Nor does ninja run. It's still a standing position. All powers can still be used with everything in the game. The difference between "a different run pose" and a motorcycle is MUCH greater than the difference between "Run with this pose" and "Run with this somewhat more bent pose."

Last but not least, of course, is the fact that since you refuse to accept jetpacks - as pointed out several times in this thread - your character would refuse to use motorcycles as well. It's "still tech," of the same rough level in the game world as a jetpack, and you refuse to use those because you're remaining "true to your origin." Either that or you're a hypocrite. Or just clueless as to what you want.

But I'm sure you'll completely ignore this along with everything else. So go ahead and hold your breath while you wait.

    Driver question

You don't have to pay for drivers. Sounds like you saw an ad for something or other.

    Best way of updating, generally:
    1. Download drivers. Yes, go to nVidia's site, there should be a pretty plainly marked "drivers and downloads. "Also as I recall there, there'll be a button that'll detect them or some such.... here. Download, save, do not run yet.

    2. Download and install Driver Sweeper. Don't let it remove anything yet.

    3. Go to control panel. Add/remove (or "uninstall a program," depending on windows version.) Pick nVidia Display drivers. (if it gives you an option for Chipset, All, or just Display, DO NOT remove Chipset drivers. These are for your mainboard. We're just worrying about video right now.)

    4. When finished, it will reboot. Start hitting F8 to go into Safe Mode. (If it lists hard drives, hit escape, then hit F8 right away. Should bring you to a windows advanced menu. Pick safe mode from there.)

    5. When it reboots in safe mode, run the driver cleaner. Pick nVidia display drivers. Let it clean up. Reboot. don't touch anything.

    6. When it finishes rebooting, your screen will look odd. Try to cancel out of any automatic driver installs Windows tries. Then run the file you downloaded from nVidia.

    Reboot when finished.
  7. On my 50 elec/elec blaster? Dropping a bunch. 23 MM? Not a one so far.

Now just some dumb *** newb who spend a week getting to 20 can get one. It took me 8 months to get my 1st 50 blueside and I had been playing almost 2 years before I got a 50 redside.
Maybe you missed all the PLing going on at various points in the game - say, with people getting to 50 in a day. Think they knew what they were doing?

IN addition, the devs said before that setting the unlock to 50 was a mistake. VEATs only got that requirement for parity.
  9. Lots of fun. I'd have more if my <censored> ATI card didn't have to go in for an RMA.... and then my 9800 died in another machine.

    Loving most of it though.

/this, barring having some added this issue. The only generally available *powers* IIRC are going to be Naetembo (sp)'s curse breaker, the Psi-Bomb, and the HVAS. Everything else is just costume bits.

Of course, given the OP's statement:

... wouldn't that not be an issue for them?

I mean, I get what the OP is saying, and if it's something like "My little brother saw my account still logged on when I had to use the bathroom," sure, it'd stop them (assuming you didn't give them the password.) But if your account has been compromised - hacked, RMTers, etc. - I'd think they'd already HAVE your password, so asking for it once more to disable the feature wouldn't be much of a deterrent.
  12. Hrrrmmmm.....

Namesake, first character. Going through the Hollows, I3, so there are no jetpacks, mobs way over level popping up here and there, etc. I'm on my way diagonally to a mission on the far side. First sight of one of the Spectral Demon Lords. "ooh... ok, I think I'm going to go over this way now. That looks nasty, and very purple..."

Getting the same tank stuck, pre-acrobatics, between two Sorcs. Both using hurricane. Irritating, sure, but still funny.

Electric Nukes. "What happened?" "Me." (The tank wasn't used to non-Energy nukes, or that I didn't have to stand in the middle of the group to fire it off.)

First hami raid. First time going from zero to - what was the old 50 cap, 1.4 million? - debt in one sitting.

Having people just drop heals and buffs instead of letting you die as they pass by.

First time seeing a PB. Nova form, coming out of a mission. I3.

Flying around Outbreak with my first Peacebringer.

First run in the Eden trial, just going "oooh" at the map.

Finding I can RP well enough to cause people who know me to forget what they know.

COV beta PVP in - think it was Siren's. So many people. So many powers. So few FPS.

Having devs that actually respond and interact.

First time through Dark Astoria. (And on a Teleport user, too.) Still love that zone. Needs more stuff!

Being recognized. (Though with all my characters, the times I'm on a MB character... it still surprises me to have someone say "Hey, aren't you...")

Vernon von Grunn. "Laugh with me!"

Having Dark_Respite not only go over a piece I'd written (and like it!) but convince me to post it - and having more people like it. No, wasn't expecting that.

And I'm going to echo "Community" and the people I've found (and made friends with) in game. Heading to a wedding for two of them, talk with others constantly (or near constantly,) and I'm not sure I would have made it through a divorce or the drive cross country without a couple of them talking me through it and helping deal with it - and another giving me a place to just get away from everyone for a while and get things in order. I've met some good folks through this game.

You've been given legitimate responses you are choosing not to accept. Or you're completely ignoring or dodging.

What would be wrong having a more appropriate transportation power of a natural human?
We ARE giving you "appropriate transportation powers of a natural human." Natural humans walk, use the train or use some sort of assistance. In the COH world, the only vehicle - other than the tram - is a jetpack, which has been shown not to be all that much of a stretch to be used.

Hell, if you want, you can handwave using superspeed to get to missions as just "fast forwarding through the boring walk-everywhere parts of the movie."

Given the faster-than-the-cars speeds reached just with sprint (not to mention the unlikely leaps and speed of ninja run,) if you want to restrict yourself to "just a natural human," you're going to be taking a while to get anywhere since you'll only have "non sprint speed" and "Walk" available.

Also the jetpack only has a 30 minute fuel supply. To me that's just long enough to forget to watch the time because your having too much fun and short enough to run out of fuel and fall to your death.

So for the time being these things will probably only be bought by the rich and stupid.

  16. ok. Yeah, that makes no sense at all to me. (Well, somewhat does - do you see the ID screen, but crash when you try to enter, or do you not see that ID screen at all?)

... well, wait, no, that doesn't make sense. Was thinking of it making the representation of the character for the ID screen, but if that were the case, I'd expect it to do it for all ATs.

Didn't see, did you try safe mode? (Not of windows, just updater. Checkbox on the second screen, left of the "I agree" button.)

Of course, given the OP's example... he'll have a choice again (after all, we end up with what, 3 of the 4 powers in the nem staff/blackwand/sands/axe grouping. Or is it all four eventually?)

(Not really arguing *against* it - I don't have an opinion on this one way or the other, really - just pointing that out.)

Wait for the 1.9 patch (unless it's out already.) It's doing a lot of adjusting that'll be really nice - specifically in costs to everything.

You also have to realize going in that you *will* be dealing with PVP in that game. Some quests (including main campaign quests) take you into the Abyss, a pure PVP zone, and most zones after lvl 20 can be entered by the enemy faction via rifts. (Time and level limited, but it's a pretty wide range of levels.)

if those don't bother you, give it a look. I found it quite a bit of fun. I'm just waiting for the 1.9 patch before I renew there. (Six months vet of it from launch, on hiatus.)

  21. Going into the tutorial or main game?

(I've made two, one into tutorial, one into mercy, no issues.)

Since you're getting into the new graphics, try the "Safe mode" checkbox on the updater. Resets everything to minimums, true, but worth a shot.
  22. How about "Can we get going with the overall base editor revamp that will give us more freedom and choices in general" while we're at it? I want hallways I can just drag a length for, not workshops or "secure corridors" in a non PVP base.
I want paper-thin walls. I really don't need ten feet of cement, steel, gravel, etc. between them.
I want rooms that touch at the corners.
I want to be able to place a room wherever I want in relation to another room, THEN select the doorway, not have a perfectly legitimate placement denied because of the "default" doorway being blocked (even if there's a spot 1-2 blocks down that's fine.)
I want to be able to convert a room "in place" to a larger version of the same, just paying the cost difference (which we do now, really.)
I want a holding area for crafted items (typically teleporters) when I have to delete a room and recreate it (usually because of the "larger version" actually.)
And I'm happy to throw "wider hallways" onto the list.

Need a "Base love" issue. >.>
