Quote:Run a VEAT.Ok, if that is the case, then I am with you. Now the big question: Is the story behind proliferation ingame or where did you read about it? Because I missed it.
Don't expect there to be a storyline. You might as well PL (well, after level 10 and getting your first non arachnos costume.)
When you get to 50, wait for the exceptional crap that is the cutscene in your "yay, your 50, go beat up states" mission. -
Quote:Does it hurt you in ANY way, shape or form that someone has a solo SG, or just a tiny one, or just made one for the hell of it at level 10?I do see your point about SG's but there just seem far too many of them. Maybe it should be harder for form one then.
Are you you no longer able to make one yourself because of it? Are we out of SG registration space?
Are you unable to build or expand your base because someone else's SG is taking up the space? Are you running into their walls?
If the answer to the above questions is "no," then mind your own damn business about other peoples SGs. There's no reason to "make it harder." -

Quote:Yeah, with all the attention they've given PVP in the last seven issues, I'm not sure how they could have missed... waitasec...I am honestly surprised the devs have ignored pvp IO's for so long.
Bloody bay. Enter at 15. Caps out at 25, with up to lvl 30 powers available thanks to SSKing.
Now, as far as "Soonest you can PVP?" Go in the arena at level 1 and brawl each other. -
Quote:Two completely different things. For Masterminds, the pet buffs would be like a Blaster not being able to use more than his first blast for the first 30 seconds of the mission, and nothing more than the second and third for the next 30. The pets are the mastermind's powerset. Not being upgraded, or having to take time to individually upgrade them, directly affect *the mastermind's* abilities. To each his own. I don't play defenders simply because I like playing CoH, not whackamole.
But for those who are so opposed to group buffing what do you think about returning to the old form of MMs where each one had to be upgraded individually? After all there is no reason for the group upgrading other than laziness on the part of the MMs. They can selectively upgrade or do it on the fly right?
Buffers do not have that issue. They're ready to go instantly, like everyone else.
You're comparing apples and roofing tile. -
Quote:No, it's not "only true blah blah blah." It's basic addition. That is only true if the defender is doing more then 31.25% of the damage of the blaster. If they aren't, then the fortitude buff is providing more overall damage then the defenders blasts would.
You do damage.
The blaster does damage.
Together, you do defender+blaster damage.
Fort only takes a second to cast. Add your damage to theirs afterward. Your 70-100-150 points of damage added to what the blaster is doing are then 70-100-150 points of damage more than the blaster does on their own. -
Quote:Has nothing to do with ambushes. Ambushes give XP. Demon portals, Death shamans, Praetorian Duray clones give *nothing.* Yet they often either (a) make a royal PITA wall-of-doom and/or (b) just keep spawning.I think you guys may be missing the point. It's supposed to be challenging. Use the ...experience. Analyze your play, your combat log. Figure out how to handle the situation before the ambush.
For the most part, those ambushes can be ignored. Run right past them, and continue on to the next objective. They don't pursue any farther than they would in the Hollows.
Me, I like it challenging. -
Quote:Honestly, no. It would be far more involved than that. MM pet stance is nothing like changing how a power actually works. And no, Swap Ammo is not like that, either.Memphis, you don't think they could simply add a button on the team tab that you could click instead (like MM pet's have to select all to change stance) and yes it would change end cost but it would again scale, and the duration issue is yes decided by all those things now...but that could change.

Quote:Too simplified (and incorrect.)So far it looks like Golden Girl is the only one who likes the TF.
We have a range from Lamprey-on-Dev-Bottom (aka Golden Girl) love it to "Kill it with fire" hate - but most people are in between.
I don't have *much* problem with it - I think the devs are nuts with level 20 as the lower limit, given the Stream O'Ghoulbomb among other things, and that Duray's teleporting could be toned down, but other than that, it's ok. It's not my favourite, but I don't dislike it. It's pretty "meh." -
Quote:Which doesn't affect them the same way. You obviously weren't affected by it. I was. Friends of mine were. (And it's migraine, not seizure, in most instances.) Few people who complained about this - and I fought for this change for a solid year and a half, butting heads with the developers at times - were actually affected by the bubbles being on someone *else.*You are talking about the seizure issue with Sonic, but if their on a team, their likely to see it on someone else during a mission.
Quote:The main thing that would appease both worlds is adding in a selection to either buff an individual or buff the group. Every single one of the issues you raised would not be an issue if that was implemented. And duration wouldn't be an issue if it was implemented.
Personally (and yes, this part *is* opinion,) if they're going to do the work on a powerset that this would require, I'd rather see it done on a *new powerset.* Doesn't mean it has to be non-buffing, but doing more than just creating (for instance) "Force Fields 1" and "Force Fields 2." Remember, you wouldn't *just* be adding the new version of the powers - you'd be delving into quite a bit of work to make sure the old ones were still accessible, that something else didn't get broken in the meantime (such as what happened with Inherent Fitness in beta,) work in the UI changes and the like. Not an insignificant amount of work, given the number of buffing sets. -
/signed.
I "get" (though I don't agree with) summoned creatures not giving XP and whatnot (gee, thanks, demon portal farmers for one of my most memorable debt-cap experiences way back when!) Many of them in the non-Praetorian game are nerfs, not designed that way.
But yeah. Inspirations would be helpful. I don't actually care about debt these days - it's trivial. It has no meaning. But having to chew through Duray Clones with no reward, for instance, or a Death Shaman's little buddies (not interruptable, as I recall,) chewing through my resources - it's not a challenge, it's not fun, just irritating. -

Quote:OK. "Don't change it from how it is now." Status Quo is a legitimate stance to take. There's no need to change. If your mention of there some times being a need for a lack of a buff on a certain player is valid, then don't you suppose it would be more efficient to offer a solution to that issue?
1. Duration: We've been told previously the buffs are balanced around current duration. Longer duration = greater cost of some sort. Either in END, strength, or both.
2. Duration and applying: I play buffers. I play a metric crapton of buffers. It doesn't take that long to buff a team, and if you bring up leagues, it's not my job to buff team 1 and 3 if I'm on team 2.
3. Endurance: "Buff everyone who doesn't have it?" First, I don't particularly trust the devs not to screw this up with the new leagues, and I'd much rather NOT burn all my END when it "happens" to hit 18-24 people.
4. Endurance, part 2: I can prioritize buffs if I'm in the middle of other things that require more END... such as debuffing. (See also thermal, cold.) If I hit my "Shield" button, I'm sending a bigger chunk of END out than I may want to right then.
5. Endurance, part 3: Masterminds. Multiple masterminds. And the rest of the team. END? What END? Oh, you wanted to debuff something? Sorry, no go. (Or someone or some pet that could USE the buff doesn't get it because you're out of END.
6. Not everyone needs buffs, no. Extra fire resists on that fire tank? Yeah, not needed. Past-softcapped defense vs most enemies? Why waste the end?
7. Buffs are NOT always good for everyone. Two words. Sonic Resonance. Examine the history. And I do know of other buffs (and other powers) that still affect people that way.
8. Not everyone WANTS said buffs, for whatever reason, and that should be respected.
Your suggestion: They get them anyway, and I burn the end.
Status Quo: I have much finer control over how and when buffs are applied. And no, it doesn't take long to do at all. -
Quote:There are times buffing everyone blindly is *bad.*I'm not going to burrow through a crap ton of YOUR posts to again read YOUR opinion, which was based on YOU thinking that you don't need to buff all the time. Unless you are playing at +4 against every enemy group without anyone dying or being slowed down, then no one has room to talk.
It's more efficient. There has not been a single valid reason why the ideas I posted couldn't be implemented. -
-
Quote:"Would make them more fun to play" is *your* opinion, not a fact. Don't call something my opinion and dismiss it and then put yours up as fact.I read a couple of posts and that is YOUR opinion. I disagree.
Like I said, the End cost would scale. It also doesn't have to necessarily be PBAoE either.
I have therms, colds, Sonics, bubblers...and all of them could use this and it would make them more fun to play. Playing at +4 requires buffs up pretty much all the time.
Nothing I've seen so far is any new idea related to this, you don't address the problems brought up in *every other discussion* about this either.
Please take the time to read more than "a couple of posts." -
No.
A search will provide you with the reasons why, as this discussion has been had within the last month, though not in this forum IIRC. Go past a month and you'll definitely run into it. -
Given the "Heal badge farms" and the like that have gone on for years with no action taken (except, much later, lowering what's needed for the badge,) I don't think they actually care.

Quote:Yes, the devs need to take a good, long look at what's going on server and network side before committing to more multi team raids. It's rather irritating when I have a power I know full well should be recharged NOT be. (Ice slick is a prime example. I can keep that going - I should never be seeing "Power not recharged" when the old slick expires... or has been gone for 30 sec or so.)I know :P
I just can't imagine raids ever getting that big though. Imagine BAF runner phase with 40-48 players. 20 prisoners would escape before anyone can even activate their power once. That or mapserv.
While it's something that would likely not really be caught in beta, given server differences, it's not like it's a new phenomenon - years of Hami and Mothership raids, as well as Rikti and zombie invasions, have had this same issue. -
Quote:... gah. Yeah, slight difference there. >.<Good guide! Your description of temperature protection gave me a better perspective on the skill. I think I currently have it multi-slotted out of habit so now I'm going to be changing that next time I respec.
Oh, also, under your description of RotP when you go over other tier 9 skills:
the bold part should be attack, not defense. -
The backup software with Windows 7 is far, far better than what we had through XP (full version was Backup Exec v.6 ... which was out in the NT 3.5 days. I know. I did support for it.) That and an external drive will do quite well in most cases.

Quote:Extracted Essence(s) - they are, of course, on a timer, and have another condition for existance (successfully extracting from a defeated enemy.)Make pets not die with you. now bon't take this the wrong way but aside from Gang War pets that Thug MMs get I don't know of any pet off hand that doesn't die when it's master does. Seriously doubt you will ever get them to consider this.. It would sort of be like a Blaster asking to have powers that would still fire off and do damage while they were face down smelling carpet.
I'm *reasonably* sure the Necro extraction stays alive as well.
Possibly Illusion's Decoy Phantasm, but that's not "your" pet.
Lacking a condition like that, yeah, I wouldn't see the Lore pets staying alive. (I do wish they'd look at Ice Slick and the like though. Yes, they're pets, but it makes no sense for a patch of ice to disappear if I die.) -
Some friends and I just finished up a sutter we started late Friday night last night. (Three people, one falling asleep at the keyboard = time for a break.)
Yes, the teleporting could be toned down. He's nice and easy to stack holds on, though. The other Duray we just pulled, killed, then killed off the clones. Makes it rather easy.
As far as the airstrikes, the only thing I find irritating about them is having them show up in the hospital if you happen to get killed and rez at the wrong time.
And yes, the clones should give *something.* They're easy to kill, true, but there's not an infinite number of them, so it's not like they'd be farmable. -
Quote:So shouldn't his name be ‾ʞlɐʍ‾? And do we have to type everything for him that way? Please remember Klaw is in Australia and is standing upside down in relation to the rest of the world. That means his blood is always rushing to his head and he's looking at things from an inverted perspective. It's easy to be confused under those conditions.
Give the poor guy a break.
