The second was bad mostly because of editing, as I recall - chopped things up a fair bit. The third, I actually liked - especially starting with the future Crow when he's alive. It could use more polish, but I didn't think it was horrid. The fourth... concept, ok. Execution = "Hey, we have the dude from Angel free now, let's use him!"on top of just being awful and not very... crow-ish, as presented.

The main issue with the banner event versus, oh, everything else is that it requires multiple teams working together to finish something *with* a timer. As much as it pops up, I almost never see anyone actually DOING it. And fi I just stand at a banner mopping up whatever shows up? I'm mostly wasting time. Fires? Troll raves? I can make progress on badges. GMs? It doesn't take many people to take them down. Banner? Blah.

As an aside... this is one of the few (Hellion-stopping aside) non-combat things to do in the City, and I wish they'd extend that somewhat. I wouldn't mind going inside, and think I've requested that a few times. (It'd be great for my empaths, for instance - find civilians, and just like you can use Ice based powers to fight the fires outside, use healing type powers instead of a medpack you'd be provided to keep them alive as they get to the exits.)

What is the purpose of Babbage? As it stands he's just a giant clockwork that shows up as part of Synapse's TF, plus an occasional spawn in Boomtown, which is currently redundant.

How about an encounter where Babbage roams the ruins of Baumton, digging through debris in order to find enough parts to upgrade himself? His AI would not kick in until activated, preventing the issue that plagues the Paladin event. Attacking him during the search phase would divert his attention, but only temporarily. Each time he busts open a pile of debris, a large swarm of Clockwork builds from the scraps to attack the players.

Once he make it through all three or four piles, he gains enough material to piece together his Babbage Engine, a clankering bundle of this and that which supercharges the giant machine, granting him stronger abilities (like Electric Control, for instance). Damage done to him during the first phase would still count, but it would be impossible to bring roaming Babbage under 25% health and/or he would heal himself slightly after each pile of debris.

Special costume reward: Babbage-style shoulder gears.
Eh, we already have shoulder-gears ... don't recall if it's part of one of the packs.

Alternately, well, we see they've altered Shivans a bit in I21 from the screenies in a few threads. (It doesnt' really look like "any Organic material" any more, at least to me.) And Baumtown needs a revamp, so...

Front of Boomtown: Rebuilding starts. Short mission arc going into what's going on.

Mid-Boomtown - Zone event: Reclaim the zone. I know I've suggested this as part of a 3-issue (more like 6, with two issues per phase, but that's not happening) reclamation... Still, ongoing. Workers need to get escorted to and from construction/reclamation sites. At various points, the Trolls, Clockwork, etc. may attack the workers. You can help escort them, defending them and helping, potentially, find new ways for them to get where they're going (while clearing rubble.) Or something. Every once in a while (minimum once per day, more often if the zone's active,) something's uncovered in an old base, a stronger adversary to fight.

    Far boomtown:

A Shivan meteor has landed. This one had missed Earth the first time, but landed in far Boomtown. The Clockwork resent the intrusion. The Lost see it as part of "the prophecy." The Shivans... well, they'll take full advantage of this. Stop the lost from reinforcing/healing/strengthening the meteor (takes at least an hour?) If you fail, we get a giant Shivan (with some smaller ones) made up of the various matter - and perhaps some unlucky Lost - roaming... which the Clockwork counter with Babbage. Stop them both. (Babbage can still spawn on occasion here, too, without the shivan.) Unlike Croatoa, while they can beat each other, if you/your team have done over (say) 1000 points of damage, you get credit for the kills. (More, of course, means more XP or whatnot.)

I really wish their *other* korean PVP-centric name-that-sounds-like-a-COH-mad-scientist MMO would look at these prices and go... "DUH! We need to lower ours for vanity items!" (instead of, oh, $10 for a single weapon skin for a single character, or a 5 pack of (untradeable, IIRC) dye for one character which does all of one set of armor.)

  8. APPs. Tanks/scrappers get ranged attacks, blasters get holds, etc.
  9. Previously posted for Lusca. Really want to see more people interested in fighting her again - and for her to be made *worth the time to do so.* (True of any of them, really.)
  10. It's hot out, and life's not all fighting!

(Wraith, my Ice dom taking full advantage of the pool and her abilities. And semaj007 is quite obviously back from his trip!)
  11. Here's the thing... there's no reason to "reboot" The Crow. (Well, other than to do a better job with the second and fourth movies.)

The Crow is not like Superman or whatnot - it's not the same person every time. It's not one individual. It's a different person with a different story and a different reason for coming back (well, other than "to set something right / revenge.") Do a fifth Crow, sure - been waiting for it for a while (and for some time there was talk of the fifth Crow movie having a female Crow.) "Reboot/remake?" No.
  12. I'm going with "Hey you." As in "Hey you, feel like teaming?"

While I'm firmly in the "Coming up with decent names is not difficult" camp, I'm not going to make that argument. Instead, I'm going to point out two things:

    1. Global-wise (while not directly part of your point, it does get brought up,) they've already done a great service by renaming trial accounts with @random [TRIAL] as a global.

    2. Ideally Freedom will bring back Premium players (having played and paid in the past, they'll never be just "free" players.) They want to keep them and re-convert them, ideally, to VIP... or at least give them reason to keep giving NC money. Which makes the name wipe, to me, even more unlikely. (And remember, if you will, I was arguing in favor of it... oh, within the past week.) Having the names still there is just an extra "Keep playing, start paying" nudge.

    3. Account handles, I still think are an ugly kludge. But if they do go that way... *shrug* I won't quit over it.

    Powerset Respecs

For one, kudos to Haetron for going beyond the "But I want, this is stupid!" that this seems to see so often in response. (Not being sarcastic. His reply's *exactly* the sort of thing these were designed for. Fast forward the conversation, start from "Here's where we stand now.")

    That said...

I'm going to ignore absolutely everything else and focus on this, because if anything it takes the idea of powerset respecs - that the devs have already said a flat out "No" to, not because of tech, but because *they don't like the idea,* - and slaps it down, curbstomps it a few times, grinds broken glass into its skin and sprinkles it with lemon juice.

Look at what you said above. Then think about the limits put in with Free and Premium... *specifically* the limits on the number of characters.

A powerset respec? One time fee. Respec powerset. *No extra slots.*

Do you think PS wants simply that one time fee - or would it make *far* more sense to say "Well, you want more characters, we've got this awesome VIP plan that gives you 12 slots on every server... *plus a whole new server!" Plus more powersets! Come, give us a subscription fee!"

If anything, Freedom should be seen as not the nail in the coffin of powerset respecs, but the steel-reinforced zombieproof able-to-withstand-a-nuclear-blast concrete sarcophagus around the coffin that's been buried extra deep.

These sets would only be able to be played with a specific origin character
    1. Absolutely NOT.
    2. The reason EATs are "Epic" is that they're tied to a specific storyline/lore, which is why the origin is taken out of the player's hands. Not that they're unlocked or anything else.
  16. Well, even getting this to work, there's rumblings about *having* to use the NCSoft launcher (vs the COH launcher, which you're pointing at.) Which, according to je_saist (who tends to follow this more than anyone else I'm aware of) essentially "doesn't work, period."

    Related, I'm not sure.

Not really. I've seen these "picky" sorts that "had" to have a certain AT/powerset (mentioning it in broadcast,) joined another team running the same TF (obviously not something like Quarterfield, we're talking ITFs and the like) and finished before they ever got started.

I find it amusing that they limit themselves like that. Nobody to blame but themselves.

/this. At least the 1-star. So when you run the TF and finish, and he's still looking for his "perfect" blaster an hour later, you know to wave as you go by and ask if he had as much fun on his TF as you did on yours.

If you don't want to mess with AE, then don't. Nobody's forcing you to.

If you don't like the AE spam in Freedom/Atlas, then level up to 5 and go to King's Row, or play in the Hollows.

Where and when have we *ever* been able to move anything SG-related? Being surpised at not being able to move them now is like being surprised at not being able to breathe underwater without snorkel/SCUBA gear.

    My plans:
    - Make character.
    - Zip to 10
    - Set up new SG branch there.
    - Play on occasion, just like every other server.
    - Play with new base to build once some Prestige is built up.
  22. Click on my guides link. There's one directed specifically to your situation - believe me, I'm well aware of altaholism (nearly 300 characters myself - but I *do* have a fair number (mid-high 20s) of 50s. A good bit of it *is* geared toward grouping - but don't think your family situation keeps you from being able to! Get to know some of the people online. Believe me, I play regularly with (for instance) parents of young children who have to suddnely "brb, kid trouble, keep going without me!"

I take it, from that, you don't PVP.

Any new "PVP Griefers" would be stuck in the Arena and one of four, PVP-only zones.

Other games, since you mention it, may have things like open world PVP, or rifting, or other things where someone may bring a much higher level PVP-focused character specifically to attack lowbies. (Of course, they're normally countered by the other side's PVPers.) That's not something to worry about here.

You're essentially standing in the desert and saying you're worried about drowning.

FWIW, this game got me interested in PVP again. Prior to this? Dealing with FPS and people who decided they didn't want to point a "noob" somewhere they could learn, or help out, or things like Diablo/Diablo II's community... yeah, that turned me off (after being so *into* it in things like Netmech and its Registry.)

Don't let "I hear about in other games...." do much for your opinion. This isn't "other games." This is COH.

Quite frankly, if you want new life in PvP, then other aspects of this game, which only a portion of the player base utilizes (like bases) should also be looked at.
/signed, bases need a lot of love as well.
