    I prefer a policy of "Hit them first and hard." (And remember, they were nerfed some time back.)

    Yeah, that's the thing - you go through and pick your powers. Easy to miss.

    But with Mids, or checking out a previous build, etc - you've got a checklist. Even if you don't use those, you have - as you mentioned above - the slotting phase. "OK, I want 3 slots in Emu Chucking... wait, I didn't pick up Emu Chucking??" *back back back back back*

    Even if you go through all the power picking, all the slotting, there's that last "Are you SURE you want to do this? If you hit OK, it'll be permanent!"

    It's a lot to go through - and the times I've heard of someone missing something, 90% of the time, ten minutes wouldn't help. (Insert "I respecced while drunk and didn't pick up a travel power" story here.) However, while a bit spendy (if you're going with IOs,) you DO have that second (or third) build.

    I wouldn't argue, FWIW, with making the "Place powers in tray" phase part of the respec just to force a final check on the player, though. Plus it'd let me NOT have to clear the tray of the rock/brawl/taser dart/flight pack I no longer need/four extra sprints/etc.
  3. Do you have something like FRAPS to record as the demo file plays back?
  4. Assuming you mean the accolade powers -

    Gaes of the Kind Ones
    Eye of the Magus
    ... and I can't think of what the third is. Elusive Mind?

    I *Want* to say it looks that way as part of an icon replacement pack. (Not this one, but like it,) since I have one and Gaes looks like that - but by default (at least according to the wiki) it should look like a greenish tinted clock face.

    Time to 50

    My first few were several hundred hours - but the game was more than a little different then, with earlier (and bigger) debt penalties, some content gaps, no patrol XP and the like.

    Now? 75-150 hours, roughly.

    Insinuating? No, it very much appears that you don't from your own creation of and attemtped "maintenance" of this very thread. If you had perspective, the reaction would be more of "Hey, I can make a bunch of other character concepts I couldn't before, cool!" and not "Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine doms don't get nothin' waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" (aka, this thread.)

    Doms not getting something *this* round does not delete all my other doms.
    Doms not getting something *this* round does not invalidate the fact they got a brand new set in I18, not all that long ago.
    I still have quite a few doms - and other ATs - to play. And given your list, *so do you.* ATs that *ARE* getting something this round.

    Quote:
    But continue to ignore the fact that doms are being given the shaft and that you're okay with being treated as a low priority if you enjoy the AT.
    "Doms being given the shaft" is not a fact. Doms being "treated as a low priority" is not a fact. It's a self-entitled whine from you.

    Oedipus_Tex, unsurprisingly, sums it up nicely:

    I'll be in game playing and enjoying all the ATs - including dominators - without whining like a four year old about "waaah, dey got sometin an we dint!" ... when we got a new set in issue 18.

    And lol at the "strong" protest. Standing out by your lonesome in the middle of the street holding a homemade sign doesn't make you look like part of a strong (or even weak but serious) protest, it makes you look like a bum begging for money.

    Edit: And don't even start with:

    That's what I get for skimming

    OK, then - "How soon do you want to turn your dead teammates into bombs, 26 or 35?"
  9. Percentages and numbers aside, here's the question I'd answer:

    Which set of powers do you want to get to first?

    If you want the shields up as fast as possible, sonic dispersion, etc. go for the Defender. They'll have everything by 32 - and sometimes getting those powers faster is more important.

    If you want all the blasts first, go corrupter. (And hope nobody needs Clarity before level 35.)

    But it *is* gameplay.

    And if, in all the time since GR's release, you haven't "corrected" your alignment - why not? You could have multiple times over by now.

    The "price" right now isn't a big deal, even if you're only on an hour a day - add a fast tip mission instead of a fast newspaper in. Even someone doing that only on weekends could have swapped several times over by now.

    And having the ATs segregated by side was not a bug. They are not telling you to pay for a bug fix. Nobody is. Side switching is shown heavily in gameplay lore now, *including going through the process.* (follow Frostfire.)

    That's as much a bug as having to play a TF to get the badge and/or merits for finishing it is.
  11. Options:
    1. Use the test server. Do your respec there, make sure you have everything, copy the build and redo it on live.

    2. Mids. Download, work out your respec, follow your "leveling plan" as you do it.

    3. Second build. Consider it a "free respec" if you haven't used it (you get a second at ten, a third when you unlock your Alpha slot.) Use that, don't worry about slotting, make sure you have everything, give it a trial run, then copy it over and do it on your main build.

    (TitanSentinel from cit.cohtitan.com, will let you export your build to Mids to look at/print out.)
  12. Well, aside from "It may be burnout, take a week or two and just ignore the game," you may not need a *character* but a *purpose.* Setting up a special "team" with your friends to run once or twice a week, picking a theme for it and the like might help break out of the rut, as well.

    That said, what do you enjoy doing? Flip side being which characters can you not stand playing, and why? (Answering those got me liking masterminds after fighting boredom and "feeling like a spectator" with a bots/ff. I wanted to be involved and 'busy,' so I rolled a Thugs/Poison - big change.)
  13. Hmmmmm.... All those characters, to find a few favourites. Quite a few of mine are "real name" type names, admittedly. And trying to separate out "Like the name" from just "fond of the character..."

    Memphis Bill - Might as well start with the first, after all. For me it just works - even if it was initially "Hmm, name, name, name... *glance at DVD* Memphis Belle... Memphis Bill. Yeah, that works." To me it hints at bits and pieces of personality, and I haven't quite caught that with other city-names (Chicago Cat, Arkansas Stone.)

    Voidbane - well, what else would you name a militant, aggressive Peacebringer who made it her duty to hunt down Voids?

    Yvette Horizon - Failed "conversion" to Warshade (grav/kin controller - trying for a "not warshade warshade.") Play on Event Horizon. Yeah, was looking forward to Singularity from level 1.

    Deadly Diana - Musically inspired Thugs/Poison MM. And the one that really got me to liking masterminds. (Made after coming to the MM forums going "Bots/FF has bored me into hating masterminds, what's a set that actually has me doing something?" Good call, MM boards.)

    Bliss, where you are, then?

    You may ignore it if you want. If so, you learn nothing. There are reasons the devs say no to things. Sometimes it's a technical (or manpower or financial) reason. Sometimes it's game direction and if the idea matches what they want out of the game or not. Learn why they say no to certain things, and work with it. Just saying "I'm just going to ignore it" is useless.

    Anyway, enough semantical bs, free alignment changes would be awesome. Prove me wrong
    That is an opinion, not a fact.

    Here's how you'd get me to agree to an alignment change token:
    - It sends you ONLY to full hero or full villain
    - It locks you out of the Alignment/Tip system completely. No more merits. No more tips. No changing your mind. For your entire account.

    You want to skip the system, you get to skip the system. Permanently.

    No, they haven't. Not by a long shot.

    I can decide to go from Hero to Vigilante to Villain to Rogue if I want. I can keep switching as I decide it fits the character - or my desires at that particular time.

    The alignment change is not necessary.

    This is solely "I want NAO." The mechanisms are in place, and in all the time you've spent complaining about it, you could be up to 20 and on your way on your lowbies. And you could be the alignment you want to be LONG before I21 shows up.

    If there's someone you want on a side that's not "native" for that side, you have three choices:

    1. Praetoria
    2. Wait. Learn some patience.
    3. Roll on their native side and play them ANYWAY, doing the switch - which is doable in a *fraction* of the time I21 will take to arrive - when you're able.

    Frankly, it smacks more of laziness. You started posting in this 7/19 - three days ago (We'll give it 2 1/2 given time zone for me.) You could have been halfway through with your alignment change - or, if it's a praetorian, out of (or nearly out of) Praetoria and on the side you want to be on.

    Have you done so? If not, there's exactly one person to blame.

    Quote:
    This is completely parallel with why they give respecs for power changes. New characters dont get the respec because the fundamental game change is already in place, old characters do get a respec because a new choice is available that was not available before.
    And all the characters unaffected by it get it why?

    And you can already change alignment, a process that - again - the devs have stated they want to be a process.

    The time cost of the Alignment system is very much NOT in line with the other systems,

    Quote:
    I have never performed a respec or costume change that took me four days

    So, no, the analogy doesn't work.

    Quote:
    Secondly, let's recap - the things in the game about our character that we can change on a whim, in a matter of minutes, or even seconds:

    * Gender
    ... IF you paid for a specific pack, and have the INF to do so (or a vet token for a free change.)
    Quote:
    * Face
    * Body Size
    INF cost.
    Quote:
    * Enhancements
    Time, potential loss of enhancements if you try to keep more than 10.

    * Power choices
    Thus the "respec," which still potentially costs you IOs, does cost you time and potentially INF, unless they've issued a freespec because the devs have made a major change to how a power or powers work.
    Quote:
    * Any and all costume pieces
    Like "face?" You're listing this separately to fluff up your list. Shall we fluff it further and list:
    Color 1, Top
    Color 2, Top
    Top type
    Top pattern
    Color 1, Chest emblem
    Color 2, Chest Emblem
    Chest emblem itself
    Gloves
    Gloves Color 1
    Gloves Color 2
    Gloves Pattern...

    ... we can fluff that up as much as you want. It still doesn't add to your argument.
    Quote:
    * Name
    Costs money
    Quote:
    * Server location
    Costs money
    Quote:
    * Teams
    Another "fluff the list" item and irrelevant to the discussion
    Quote:
    * Supergroups
    Which may cost the supergroup 15,000 Prestige, and which cuts YOUR access off to anything that SG had.

    And none of the above is in the least bit *supportive* of the OP's request. Many of them cost time or money. And alignment changes now? Right in line with that... they cost time. And not a lot of it.

    Yeah, that's the thing with writing more "overall" guides (and longer fic, at times.) It's almost better to - depending on how much you want to do for each set - break it into "chapters" and reserve the space so you post as each section gets done, or just write it up in Notepad over the course of several days (or however long it takes,) verify the stuff you're saying, then post it when it's done.
  24. It would work for me - tie it in with newspaper missions as well (keep taking those Freakshow missions, you get Freaks out for your blood.)
