Street Sweeping/Revenge Ambush

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I did a search and didn't find anything.

The other day, I was looking at my badges and found that I was one Embalmed away from the Gravedigger badge. This character was level 40, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem.

Well, it took a couple of hours just to find an Embalmed! While I contintued to defeat low level Vahzilok, I had an idea.

A system that only works when outside of mission, in the city itself. After your hero (or villian) has defeated so many of a certain group, that group has it in for you and they come after you. In the form of an ambush, naturally.

Now, I would make this so that, say a level 50, can't defeat X amount of Nemesis and then go to Atlas and create a high level ambush that could be used to harass lowbies, etc. Though the attack can wait until that character returns to the zone, that he first triggered the attack.

I know street sweeping isn't that popular. Though, I do enjoy doing it from time to time. In fact, I have one character that does not do any missions at all, but rescues purse snatching and mugging victims, etc. This is just a basic idea, just some way to spice up street sweeping, kind of getting back to the basics of being a hero.

For villain side, I think, villains should be able to mug and purse snatch, then have a mob of civillians after him (pitchforks and torches, ftw!), as well as defeating the other villian groups that hang about (and get in the way of your schemes)

Anyway, that's my idea, simple as it is.

Thanks.

Not sure how this would improve your hypothetical situation, or the game in general.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

It would work for me - tie it in with newspaper missions as well (keep taking those Freakshow missions, you get Freaks out for your blood.)

I think it just ads another facet to the game. Saving people on the street is a staple of superheroes. As is mugging them.

I like elements of this. I don't know what the Rogue Isles equivalent of a mob should be, doesn't seem much community to speak of to warrant a mob of civilians for torches and pitchforks.

IIRC when the game was being developed it was envisioned that teams would street sweep their way from mission to mission. Of course with the advent of travel powers, mission teleporters, etc, street sweeping has become a lost art. It's one of the reasons Hazard Zones are pretty much dead.

I'd love to see a system in which the game rewards you for street sweeping beyond the usual inf/insp/recipe drops.

Perhaps Heroes and Villains can save/shakedown civilians and with each rescue/shakedown earn progress towards an ambush by X villain group containing a named boss. Each time you you defeat the boss/ambush it nets you a reward merit.

That was pretty much what I was thinking.

The 'mob' could be local authorities reacting to a complaint, and would change according to the zone/area you're in. For example:

Mercy - Rogue Island Police or Longbow
Port Oakes - Family (taking their business)
Cap au Diable - Goldbrickers (see above)
Sharkhead - Cage Consortium
Nerva - Longbow, Wyvern, Legacy Chain or Family
St Martial - Family or Tsoo
Grandville - Arachnos

Can put Arachnos in all of them really, not just GV, but they seem to take less of a direct role in most of the Rogue Isles zones.
