I'll bring my storm/energy defender, unless no one else brings a scrapper/tank, in which case, I can snag my fire scrapper.
This defender, btw, is an oddball. Early on, my SG leader at the time pushed the idea of Aid on the character. Even though I have since started work on her second build, I have to admit that damned first aid kit has come in handy.... -
It does...looking at it, I think there might be a way to fix it so she's wearing slacks...but I also hate to muck with someone else's vision of Mellie...(and it's always possible that the trench came about later...)
-
Ok, obviously I must join this collective...

Better late than never....
Happy Birthday, big guy! -
Quote:Just took a look...that's a really nice document of the Comrade there...Might do that for a couple of my toons...Hi Texas,
Been reading this thread with some interest.
From personal experience the image references I gave to artists when I first started commissioning pieces based on my character Comrade Hero was solely based on in-game images and any details that could be useful
For example the materials different parts of the costume were made from - leather, cloth, steel etc. and comparisons power and personality wise between my character and existing DC/Marvel characters.
Comrade Hero for example is inspired by Captain Marvel (Fawcett/DC), Captain America (Marvel), Green Lantern Hal Jordan (DC) and Judge Dredd (2000AD)
After I started receiving commissions that I thought best captured the 'feel' of the character I started including examples of other people's commissions and a real world ideal in the form of a person with the face and/or physique I believed would have made a good Comrade Hero.
In my case it was originally Sean Bean and Arnold Schwarzenegger's Bodybuilding era physique, and now Viggo Mortensen (brilliant in Eastern Promises) and Arnold Schwarzenegger's Bodybuilding physique. The artist/sculptor started having access to information about physical measurements and dimensions to work with as well.
One of the mistakes I made for the longest time was to have all that information spread over a multitude of links. I only recently started condensing the whole lot into one page.
This didn't take any real artistic skill on my part - just access to Word and printing the document to file as a JPEG file that was easily uploaded to deviantART.
Having everything in one easy to access file made it simple to send the information to a potential artist and get a quick response as to whether or not this was a character they would like to work with.
I constantly tweak and revise the information/images but here's two examples of my signature heroes - Comrade Hero and Graviton Girl.
Comrade Hero (2010)
Graviton Girl (2010)
All the best to you on your artistic adventure.
And better late than never to the party.... -
My mom wouldn't have understood why I play MMOs..heck, she didn't like card or board games...
She just knew that my live action Rping involved lots of dressing up in Renfest type clothing, and making costumes...
She still tried to support my choice of hobbies, though.
I still miss her.... -
Just found out about this today-
Caemgen liked one of my stories so much that he commissioned JR Schuller (The Last Avatar on DA) to do an illustration to go with the story..
Once I saw it...well, how could I get mad, it is so well done.
May eventually get it colored. Right now, just want to bask in this...
-
LOL, I love it! Now I have to put that story up on Virtueverse!

/me returns, towing her luggage...
"hi, guys, I'm back..." Sends the luggage upstairs while she flops with the kitties as her cabbity self. -
:Sends you two month's supply of milk and a psionic toolkit to help repairs along...
Miss ya! -
Note on the corkboard in the main living area...
Hi, posting this on my way out of town for a couple of days. Started out as a water run (water main broke, should be fixed by the time I get back..), ended up as a celebration of a friend's 40th b'day as well.
Be back to torment you guys Weds,
DC -
I can be down for it starting next weekend...maybe not always the same one, but...could be fun...
And missed ya, Captain Puppy! -
It was fun. I was getting slaphappy by the middle of the ITF (lack of sleep will do that to you...) but anytime you finish an ITF and look around and want to say "That was fun...can we do it again?"....it was fun. Special thanks to Cold , PG and Johnnykat for herding me a few times...I know I drove you nuts, and I apologize for that...I suspect I need to have at least a kettle of water and my caffinated cocoa on hand for the next doubleheader...
And yes, I slept well and hard last night. Thanks, guys! -
I'm going to vote this time...Alice sent my voting nerve center into shock last time.
1. U-Naught's little crayon piece...It's cute..
2. CR for his chalk piece.
3. PyroNympho for the 'hawt chick'..... -
Just realized I never said if I was going to be on tonight.
Well, I will be for both TFs as Oryo Ryouko now. Figured that Prestige would be a good gift for Vexxxa...and how often does Rio get to wear more color than what's on her uniform? -
I think for me (and I've not been here that long), it was discovering that this game had the biggest percentage of art collectors I've seen since I haunted the old Gaia art forums...
Then finding out that one of the Gaians with the largest collections has been playing CoH for a few years...lol, she's now in the SG I'm helping to run...but has yet to show me art of her toons here...well, I think she showed me one or two...
That and finding some CoH art on DA...then running across the subjects over time...
And getting my first two official arts (three if you count a toon from Star Wars Galaxies) for my wimpy little DA page.... -
Quote:Was going to hijack the spousal computer for tonight's romp, but the mouse doesn't seem to like the game..and if I try to use WADS or the arrow key, I find myself spinning...or just keep on running. I'm sure part of it is the keyboard, and or the mouse...but I'll check on that another day when I'm not driving myself nuts trying to get a toon to 35 for Numina...An ATI Radeon 4870 should be perfectly capable of handling all the new visual goodies at any normal resolution. My first thought would be have you updated your graphics driver?
With all the new graphical elements introduced, now is a good time if you haven't in a while.
-
Oooh. I want the belt, too. My two mains would look so cool with it...:P
-
I won't be running her during the Numanumia (couldn't resist), but I could run my fire scrapper for the ITF. Or my storm/energy defender. I can even put them in technicolor clothing for the occasion

Happy Birthday to ya, VexXxa! May you get what you want!

I was lucky to get the yellow tag over Oryo Ryouko's head...and later over Mellissandria's head...
Oryo Ryouko was also swimming in the merits til Atlas Park fell down and went boom...was ten to twenty minutes before I could get her back online...which is how I wound up switching to Mellissandria eventually....It was fun, lag was odd to watch, though. Don't think I ever hit anything or anyone (but didn't stop me from trying...).
Funniest bit of the night though was seeing a friend of mine (who can be something of a party animal) get the Party Animal tag...the yellow one! (grins). Took me about four five minutes to tell her she had it due to the lag...
(they really need to stretch it out, though. Maybe make it a week long event, or at least have a repeat of it..)
That was good, however, that they handed out the yellow tags afterwards in Atlas Park and Grandville....(but we still need a repeat. I do, anyway...*noms merits* -
"Let The Wookie Win..."-Han Solo, Star Wars: A New Hope...

Quote:That and the look on Bayani's face is what makes it art...."Contempt of Courtship" is one of my favorites pieces in Bayani's gallery. Jen Walters in flirtatious lawyer mode is classic.
I hate to say it, but every time I see that piece, I have to smile. It's that funny and cute. -
Quote:Well, going from the *last* revision, I'd say Bayani is braced, riding the skiff like a skateboard. I've seen some pretty amazing things done with those alone. If I'm not mistaken, he's probably either going to chi blast behind him or about to manifest his flame sword...
I still think a three point stance (his left hand resting on the Skiff) would be more stable, even more so now that he is returning fire, and considering the speed you want to depict (i.e. when things are going really really fast you grab onto whatever you can and hold on tight).
Also and if is chi blasts have an equal and opposite reaction effect on him in his current pose I think he might topple... other than looking cool what purpose does having his left arm up in the air serve?
As for the "is it real?" aspect...which I should know better than to enter..
It's not. But it's cool, and fun...kinda like watching a Star Wars movie. No, people can't really do those cool moves you see Liam Neeson (or his stunt double) do, part of that was probably computer generated. But damn, it looks like fun and looks cool! And a lot of us have wished at times (usually as kids) that we could do cool, fun, Jedi stuff, or cool, fun, superpowered stuff..! That's why we play MMOs!
In other words, there's a time when you have to sit back and enjoy the picture for what it is..a illustration for a story being told.
(and I hope the above doesn't come off as a -no pun intended- flame. Especially since I have already edited this post to death to make sure there aren't any...)
