Wow, all the wonderful help. Thanks, thanks, and more thanks. I am having fun with this Blaster, and don't want to give her up. I guess I need to let her sit for a while and build up some bars of Patrol XP. Being killed is not so bad if there is no debt attached.
Rodion-Thanks for the info about needing mitigration in the primary. I thought Chillblain, Icepatch, and Shiver, in my Ice secondary was enough for my level, but since I don't know Blasters, I guess I was wrong . ..hmmm ... the ability to kill with the swiftness of the wind might be a mitigration in this combo's primary...in that case I need to make sure my damage is maxed out, and my endurance can handle it...sort of like my Fire/Fire scrapper ...hmmmm.
Anachrodragon, BBQ Pork, And BubbaWheat. I have your arc numbers, and names, written down in my AE notebook. I will run them, and, thanks for sharing
EvaDestruction-I sure do have Ice Patch. I took it before I took Stamina
Ice Patch is my funnest, and most effective, staying alive power.
Oh, and I am on Heroic with this Blaster, and have no plans to change.
Again, thanks so very much everyone.

Hello everyone. I have played Scrappers almost all my 30 months here, but an ingame friend pointed out that I need to play Blasters. So, I created an Archery/MM on Infinity, and dusted off one of my first toons, a Fire/Ice on Victory.
The two are both level 28, and both do wonderfully in reg missions and streethunting, but as soon as I go into AE missions solo, it is not a pretty sight.
This morning my Fire/Ice went into an AE mission, and died so many times in that mission it was sad. I then took her into a Croatoa mission, the one involving saving the Ghosts from the Witches, and she came close to death only two times, and one of those times can be blamed on my cat.
Anyone here have any good arcs for a level 28 almost 29 Fire/Ice blaster who is decked out in common IOs, or have any hints on how to find a Blaster friendly arc??? I am not looking for easy, just doable
I would stay out of the AE, but, but, I love my ticket rolls
Thank you all
Lisa.
And Edited to say I just saw what I did to my thread title, and that is something I cannot fix.....was in tooo big a hurry I guess. -
Whoop!!!! This sounds simply wonderful !!!!!!
That said, I hope I will be able to play as I suspect the timing will put the new Double XP weekend smack dab into work's hectic, crazy, busy period...but we shall see
Hugs and warm fuzzies to those who made this happen.
Lisa-walks out of the thread wondering which secondary to pair with Rad Blast Blaster...hmmm... -
This was a double XP weekend to remember. I had video card driver issues, and after that got taken care enough for me to play, I was not as gung ho as I usually am about Dbl XP, but, I did something quite out of the ordinary....I teamed for a bit!
Usually, bad things happen when I team, but disaster and doom did not happen this time, and I got my Fire/Ice Blaster from level 19 to level 27!
I also achieved some very short goals. I got my Archery/Mental to level 27, and I leveled my Broadsword/Willpower scrapper to level 35.
I made a new toon, got her to almost level 8, then decided I do not need another toon, at least not until issue 16 breaks, so I cold heartedly deleted her
I feel like an axe murderer. -
Hmmm....ChiliCheeseDog Annie, my level 50 Fire/Fire scrap on Victory.
Everytime I play her, I get tells from people laughing about the name
I was in such a hurry to start my Fire/Fire scrap that I named her the first thing that popped into my mind, and it stuck -
Quote:Sounds like you don't have the science booster pack, which at select NPCs allows you to modify your body type and scales.
The tailor in pocket d is a super tailor, and there should be one in each of the other tailor locations, they'll have surgeon in their name, I believe.
Sounds like you may just be seeing an interface you are not used to and not allowed to modify without the booster, although I can't explain why the scales are off from what you remember.
Hello Tradok. Thanks for responding. I do indeed have the Science Booster Pack which is why I was able to see the Slim and Athletic build choices when at Treena's establishment. I have changed builds there quite sucessfully. Today is the first day I have noticed this problem. I would have sent in a bug report, but, I am not sure if there is a bug or if the problem is on my side...after the past few days, I would not be surprised in the least if my video card drivers are the problem...I guess I should send a bug report in any way.
Again, thanks much for responding

Hello all.
After having all sorts of problems with my video card drivers, I finally got them working enough to play the game...my GEForce 8500 GT card seems to think my screen is larger than it really is and also needs different drivers for the control panel, but I don't know what drivers it wants for that, or, where to find them if I did know....Video drivers I know, Control Panel drivers oye vay....anyway, after lots of tears and frantic emails to tech support, my jury rigged fix and I went out to get some double XP.
My toon looked a little off to me, so I went to Treena in Pocket D to get a costume I could live with until I get my video card looked at.
I noticed my Slim Body build was at now Athletic. I changed it back to Slim, selected a costume, and left....it looked odd still, went back in to find that my Slim body build was back to Athletic. I changed that again. Was about to check out of the creator, when I went back to check to make sure the change to Slim was still checked.
It wasn't. It was back to Athletic
I finally left in my brand new Steampunk gear to hide the fact I was no longer slim.
I flew to another Icon, Indy Port I think, and checked my toon's measurements there.
This was not Treena so I could not see the name of the build, but the body sliders were not all the way to the left as I always put them.
So, my question is, are other people experiencing this, or could this have something to do with my sick Video Card/driver settings?
Sorry about the tone of this post..I am a computer novice and have been lucky enough to have not had computer problems until now..as a result the past couple days have been very drama ridden and bad...and now my body builds are wonky.....
Anyways, I did not send a petition/bug report. I came here first to see what I could see, and I did not see anything, so I am asking

LoL. I am a female in real life, and up to recently every one of my toons has been female. I forgot where I was, Steel Canyon maybe, when a toon came up to me and sent me a tell. It read "You are a female in real life aren't you?" "Yes" I sent back bemused. "I KNEW IT" said he/it...and he/she flew merrily away leaving me looking at my toon.
She was wearing jeans, and a baggy top with the frost design. I guess he/she thought real life women don't dress their toons in, err, scanty, come here big boy, clothing, and I proved him right....
Wonder what he/she would say if he/she had come across my Archery Blaster's lil' black fightin' outfit...that outfit would blast his theory out the window
This is a fun thread...just sorry I got to it late. -

Random bronze rolls can also produce you quite a nice chunk of change, on occasion. They're relatively cheap (as far as tickets goes) and more than make up their worth when you get Doctored Wounds/Numinas/Crushing Impacts/etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
And don't forget the other goodies you get from Bronze Rolls. Both Karma and Steadfast Knockback Protection, Steadfast defense to all, Kismet Accuracy, Regen Tissue Plus Recovery, and my Blaster even got a Performance Shifter Endurance Proc in a roll.....which surprised me because I did not know that particular Performance Shifter was included in the roll
I stared at the screen, blinked, blinked, a second time, then let out such a loud whoop that I woke up the cat who was snoozing next to the keyboard
Now, I find I might be becoming a ticketaholic -
Valkii, my Dark/SR, gets by wonderfully with the Combat Jump/ Hurdle combo. She is so fleet, I don't think I will get a Travel power on her...if she falls into hole or something I always have my jetpack to get her out
-
Fixed that for ya. Report back when you're 50 and still lovin the dom
Like I said awhile back... YOU don't know what you missed.
******
Sorry, not sure how to do quotes.
Ditzy Blonde, you are correct. The Buff brought out new Dom Players who will never know what it was like. Because of this, the new Dom players will hit 50, and because this is all they know, they will indeed love their toon.
It is a new world now. All I can say is instead of wearing sack cloth and ashes, use your smarts to make the buff work for you in this new environment.
Nothing in real life is constant. Everything changes. And so it is in this game.
If you bend like the willow tree, you will not snap in half like a, err, oak.
So go out there, and create the best Fire/Psi issue 15 has ever seen
You can dooooo itttt -
I just made a earth/fire dom, and having a good time solo with it. I don't know what doms were like before the buff, so I will never know if the buff was in fact a nerf.
All I know, is I am having hella fun -

I was playing nice earlier. Here's the deal. I don't like teaming. So when I do it is for a specific reason. If I feel the team will not help me accomplish whatever goal I'm going for, then I will quit. I won't give notice or anything. I'll just quit the team. I personally don't care if it is a PuG radio team or a task force. If I don't think the team directly benefits me in the way I want, then I'll just leave.
Do you know why I will do it that way?
Simple, because I see teams as nothing more than fillers to use as I see fit. When they are no longer useful, I leave. That simple. If the leader has a problem and demands an answer, I'll let him/her know. But I won't be nice about it. I will be extremely blunt and critical.
But Munki, why be so mean? Simple, because I play this game so I can have fun. As long as I'm not breaking any rules, I don't give a crap about anybody else. If somebody's day is worse off because they ran across me, I don't care. I see all of yall as nothing more than fillers on the way to accomplish my goals.
edit: The people that feel they deserve some sort of explanation are self obsessed losers. That simple.

Grin. I admire you for your honesty...and I suspect in RL, you are an ok person. Reading your post for the second time I am not real sure why I think that....but I do
Hugs. -
I solo because, believe it or not, I am now semi phobic. My better half bought this game, and even though I had never played a video game in my life he figured I would like it. I would look over his shoulder as he played, see all the violence, shudder, and say "NO Thanks"
He did not take "NO" for an answer.
And so, I found myself with a years paid subscription, a global, and a toon.
"OH well" said I . This is something we can do together.
Well, I am cursed with poor hand/eye coordination, and cannot touch type with both hands, and have minor difficulties with targeting. I had never played a computer video game or any video games...and I was rushed into teaming....Lord Love A Cross-Eyed Duck .
After my last horrific teaming adventure, I vowed a vow never to team again, sally forthed into Paragon City solo and learned all the ropes at my own speed...and am now very much addicted
I do chatter with people ingame, and have teamed with a few friendly folk I met this way with no big disaster so I am no longer that noob who was a curse to teams everywhere. . .
. .but .. when I get that pop up that states so and so invites you to a team, or even if someone sends me a "Do you need a team" tell...my blood runs cold, and the hairs stand up on my neck.
Sigh.
Anyways, that is why I solo. My Global is @nova tigress and I play on Victory and Infinity Heroside, Protector Villainside. -
Good morning everyone. I have a level 44 Dark/SR who is my pride and joy. I would post a data chunk from Mids so you will know where I am coming from, but, I am not sure how to do that, so I will give out the stats I get from my Combat Attribute window
With all my toggles toggled on, the SR toggles, Combat Jump, and Weave..one slotted Weave, I have....
Ranged-45.94
Melee-49.68
AOE-49.68
Smashing 18.29
Lethal-18.29
Fire-14.22
Cold-14.22
Energy-12.35
Negative Energy-12.35
Psionic-9.54
More background info is I solo this toon and play both AE missions and reg content.
Being defeated and dying don't bother me tooo much. That is what patrol XP is for
I did have Elude, but dropped it when I did a respec to get the fighting pool. . . and soft cap
Now I am questioning if I really need Elude. It was great for me before I attained soft cap, is it still great for me now that I am softcapped?
If I don't need it, then I want to get both Air Sup and Fly.
If I do need it, then I have to decide on either SJ or Air Sup
Right now I do not have a travel power, and have been getting around with both the five dollar a month Rocket Pack I have been getting, and the combo of Hurdle and Combat Jump...which is really, really, quite speedy.
Air Sup is a favorite power which I try to get on all my scrappers. Puts a stop to the fleeing bad guy syndrome, and also keeps them off their feet thus putting an end to whatever bad guy power they were using on you.
Sooo, Question (1) is does Elude increase the survivablity of a solo Dark/SR softcapped scrapper enough to forgo taking both a travel power and much cherished Air Sup?
Question (2), and last question, is my one slot in Weave enough. I know I am over softcap in Ranged, Melee, and AOE, but the other numbers are puny.
Whew....sorry about the long post, but I wanted to put in as much info as possible.
Thanks, Thanks, and Thanks again -
LOL.. TheHeat, that sudden death has indeed happened to me.
One minute Valkii is doing great, knocking heads and taking names, next minute she is in a crumbled heap on the ground wondering what in the bleeping blap happened
It is things like this that add spice and zing and flavor to the game though. It would be boring to never be defeated. -
Good morning. I got to this thread late, and see you have already chosen a Dark/SR. You will not regret it at all.
My Dark/SR, Valkii, is I think level 44. My first inking at how great SR truly is, came when I was doing a Malta Mission and found myself being sapped by two sappers...My first thought was "Oh Darn" followed by "WTF" when I, to my shock and awe, realized my blue bar was still completely full
As far as a build goes, take everything on the SR side with the exception of Elude...maybe. Elude I am not sure about and plan on starting a thread on the subject when I get home from work today. I have a love/hate relationship going with that power.
So far, the only enemy I have had kitten fits with came from the AE. I did an AE arc featuring Electric/Electric Brutes and they had me as the main course for lunch.
I hear Romans are hard on SR too. I need to go back to Romanland and play a few missions to judge for myself the validity of this as far as Valkii goes.
I say this because not all /SR builds are the same. Different slotting, different set bonuses, different primaries, different inspiration usages, different nuts behind the keyboard, all can make a difference in survivablity.
Oh, two last things.. Firstly, slot for endurance. Slot Dark Consumption well. It will be your best friend..especially if you have Elude..mutter, mutter...
The second thing, and I will probably be jeered at for saying this, but slot Siphon Life for heals. Yes it is a very good damage power, but unless you take Aid Self, it is also your only source of, well, life. I slot Siphon Life for damage on Battlesneeze Jessie, my Dark/Regen, but on Valkii, she gets the heals.
Good luck with your new scrapper. When you get high enough in levels to have all your SR powers you will truly be grinning ear to ear
Dark/Shields, huh??? Hmmmm..... -
My only 50 is a Fire/Fire scrap. I don't have any defense sets at all in her, and don't have Weave, but solo, she is very survivable, especially when I keep Blues, Purples, and Oranges in my tray...just found out Oranges are increased Resistance.
Hmmm..on the Fire Aura side, I know a lot of people don't like Consume, but, for my playstyle, I solo, it is my best friend. Keeping Consume in peak condition will indeed aid your survivablity. Ohhhh...and you chose my favorite power, Rise Of The Phoenix
I got Rise Of The Phoenix out of curiosity, tried it out once, then rushed off to do a respec to take it earlier and thus put more slots into it.
It is simply wonderful to "Rise from the ashes" and not only badly stun, but sometimes, depending on the state of their health, kill those around you...and also have enough time to retoggle, swallow a Green, a Blue, and charge back into the fray with a burning need for revenge glowing in your eyes
Makes being defeated almost fun. With Patrol XP, it is fun
Good luck with your scrapper -
Wow. I play a bit, cook dinner, come back to this question, and find a lot of answers
Very good answers
I think I will take Weave, and try to get some defense bonuses...hmmm...I have a level 43 Dark/SR who does not have Weave yet, and is over softcap when she swallows a small purple. I need to look over the Dark Melee part of her build, which is where I have the majority of her defense bonuses, and get ideas for this one...or just flat out copy it, except for Siphon life...My Dark/Regen has it slotted for damage, while my Dark/SR has it slotted mostly for heals.
I might have to sacrifice some of my accuracy and recharge bonuses to get enough defense though....but now I have a real percentage to work towards, and that is simply wonderful....
Enough of my happy babbling and plotting. THANK YOU ALL!!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! -
I have a question that has been gnawing at me and I am hoping that I can find some answers.
I have a Dark/Regen Scrapper, level 45. I solo with her and she solos very well
My question is about Weave. I have read guides, and I have read posts, but have never seen the answer to the question "How much base defense is needed for Weave to make a difference to my toon's survival?"
My toon has no defense powers. Not even Combat Jump. Her bonuses are all about accuracy, recharge, regeneration, and max health. No defense bonuses to stack with.
So, will the amount of defense that Weave alone grants be enough to see an increase in the survival of a Dark/Regen who solos, and who has no defense anywhere in her build for Weave to stack with?
If I slot my Steadfast Resist /Defense IO, and take up Combat Jumping, would these changes be enough for Weave to make a difference?
I know the answer is in the official numbers, but sadly I have been math challenged my entire life, and cannot glean the answer from them myself...I tried.
So, I am here in the scrapper forum, hoping to get an answer, and finally close this chapter. Thank you all for being here to ask
