  1. hmm..I was frantically trying to empty my email before the servers shut down this morning..I had forgotten about the chance for a rollback thing..and according to my computer clock they shut down at the correct time....and my computer clock matches the time my wallclock says...of course I could have set the wallclock by what the computer clock says.....

Lisa leaves thread muttering to herself, and looking for her iphone to see what time it says..
  2. Oh and Peter, about keeing FA on, I have a level 50 Spines/Elec scrap who toggles it on and forgets about it. Just make sure you have end in your attacks, and end in FA, and you should be good to go.

    Lisa.
  3. Yay!!! Another person who is playing a Fire/Elec Brute.

Cinderwatt was my first Brute, and when I went looking for info on this combo I found nothing but bad press...I mothballed her for a year or so, forgot how long, then came back to the forums to see if there had been any new info posted, and since I was able to post this time, I asked a whole lot of questions, and got some positive feedback so I kept on keeping her.

I have started playing her again and WOW! Just WOW!

She is level 38, and just dives into huge piles of Freakshow and Carnies two level above her and she emerges the Victor

During Tip missions she makes the COT and Wailers want to run and hide

She does not have expensive sets in her build..the most expensive thing to date is the "Eradication Chance for Energy Damage" which I put in Lightning Field.

I am very happy with her...and I am tickled that there is another soul here who is enjoying this "Bad" combo

    Lisa.
  4. Know something, with the snow keeping folks indoors, and a lack of sun causing depressed moods, today seems like a great day to release it...seriously

Hmm..wonder if I do some badge hunting in Praetoria I will see some of these critters.

In Studio 55, upstairs, is a monkey looking man called Prime-8. Wonder if we will get that head?

Lisa-Sipping pepperment hot tea and looking out the window at a very gray looking day...perfect weather for a treat

Grin. I am happily leveling up my Mace/Shield brute, and Fire/Shield scrap... Won't hear any "Devs hate us" from me this time

I am going to trust in our Devs to bring us soloers a bit of love in issue 20 or a little beyond.

And so I am able to be happy and excited for all the teamers out there

    Yay Strike Pack

Of course, there are definite throw-away powers in both groups. Moonbeam from Soul Mastery--while it may look awesome--takes up a ton of endurance, has a ridiculously long (and interruptable) cast time, and doesn't do much more damage than Dark Blast... which sucks because you can cast Dark Blast twice in the amount of time it takes to use Moonbeam.

But things like Soul Storm? A decent hold power on a melee class? Friggin' awesome. And Shadow Meld makes a great "OH <bleep!>" button in a pinch when I'm suddenly getting my butt handed to me and Elude isn't up. Alternatively, I can throw Ingrid (my Night Widow pet) out to take the fall if I've bitten off more than I can chew.

I suppose I could just get rid of all the fun powers and softcap my Stalker like everyone else does, but then I'd be just like everyone else. Even if it means I'm going to fail, dammit, I'm going to do it my own way and I'm going to do it spectacularly.
    Chad..thank you for this.

I feel the same way you do....when she hits 40 my Mace/Shield is going Redside and pick up Shadow Meld and Soul Storm..for that matter my Fire/Shield is already 40...hmmmm

    Anyways, breakfast is burning.

    Thanks.

  8. I started a Mace/Shield Brute in Praetoria. I interlaced the Praetoria Missions with getting the Winter Event Badges, Got to Talos, did both of the New Missions..the one with my double..which was a bit odd, as I thought my double was from Praetoria therefore I was killing myself, and the Ray Cooling one.

Then I did the Ouroboris thing, got all the badges I had missed, and did Faultline because I love that arc

With the same toon, I did tips, ran the Mystic Madmen mission over and over again via Ouroboris because it was a good challenge and great XP, and did a couple of runs on a friend's Council map in PI.

I also slept, cooked meals, fed and watered cats, read these forums, and attempted making a couple of new toons but my Mace kept calling my name

So, when the servers came down, I have a level 32 1/2, somewhat badged out, Mace/Shield Brute who is a ton of fun.

    I consider this a success

    Lisa.
  9. Hello everyone.

Yesterday I rolled up a Mace/Shield Brute and ran her through Praetoria. I started out Loyalist, and became Resistance when I saved Cleo.

I did all the main missions, got all the defeat badges, and to my happiness, I steamrolled through Cole's kingdom very easily. Think I died about three times total, and even that wasn't bad as I was interlacing my Praetoria experience with getting Snappys Winter badges and thus had the self Rez.

Late afternoon I arrived excited at the portal which would take me to Paragon and my comfy, well stocked supergroup base

I looked everywhere I could look, but saw not one of my old contacts, just scientists...so I shrugged my virtual shoulders, dashed through the portal, and set foot in Talos

I thought a few of your old contacts were supposed to give you a send off????

I did all my contact's missions, and I have the merits to prove it..so, I ask, where did I go wrong????

Lisa-Bumfuzzled about the lack of a send off, but still happy that I have a Praetorian Brute in Paragon
  10. Ice Melee/Ice Armor for Scrappers and Brutes is top on my list, and if I had to choose only one, it would be this one.

A way to save recipes in the base

A method for making the getting of Shards easier for solo toons..but not too easy, we are trying to be Incarnates after all

And a new power..."Return to contact"...I am looking at you Independence Port

  12. Somehow I missed this on Friday...

I am thankful for my sweetie dragging me kicking and screaming into this game as it has spawned a whole lot of wonderful memories such as I waking up at 1:00 am and nudging him awake to tell him all about my idea for a simply wonderful new character

I am thankful for the wonderful people on my global friends list who understand I am a slow typer and chatter with me anyways..yes, I don't team, but that does not mean I am at all quiet

I am thankful for the Devs giving us neat things to buy with Hero/Villain merits.

I am thankful that the people here on the forums not only don't run me off with my stupid questions and opinions, but are extremely nice and helpful.

I am thankful that I am the sort of person who can feel thankful for things...

Oh, oh, oh, and I am very, very, very thankful for the GMs who answer petitions from us players who cannot complete missions. More than once I have been moved from where I stood, to where the hidden minion lurked. To me, They are the indeed the Guardian Angels of this game.

I raise my bottle of Tropical Carrot Juice to another seven years

  14. Anyway, I came to this thread to announce that I finally got a shard drop. I was in the lady Winter Map on my Spines/Elc. Difficulty was not set as difficult as yesterday. I went only 1/2 with Bosses today.

Within 10 minutes, I snagged me a shard!!!!

    That made my morning

I would suggest that the TF awards 1-2 shards and be 8-10 missions long, mainly to prevent it from becoming "another ITF".

At the very least this would put a "minimum cap" on the number of shards a soloist can get over a period of time without impacting upon other methods of earning shards.
    Ooooo....this gets my vote!!!!!!

Hah..I just jumped into the thread here but I can answer this one.

In order to team, the teamers need folks to team.

If the players are soloing, they are not teaming.

This alarms the teamers big time as less fish in the pot means less a lower chance to find teams.

That is why they are soo vocal, and using simply horrible terms to describe "Team Solo"

"Team Solo" is bad news for "Team Team."

    I need to learn Herostats.

While we are on this subject, how are drops awarded?

Earlier this week I started two new toons. A MA/Fire and then a MA/Dark.

I took them both through the Snaptooth mission. Killed everything on the way to finding the Ice Key, and I killed everything on the way back.

My MA/Fire received more candy canes than the Ma/Dark.

I then proceeded to do the open 200 present badge on each. The Ma/Fire received a lot of mystery gifts, and the Ma/Dark maybe got 2.

Is my MA/Dark going to be cursed this way her entire life?

Are there Lucky and Unlucky toons?

There has been talk that later on in the Incarnate system we will need huge numbers of shards as compared to now. There are people that can't get enough shards with the relatively low number needed now. This is a problem. We could potentially be looking at a disparity of not just months but literally years to progress. I can't imagine how anyone would consider that reasonable.
I like what what you said Steel_Shaman.

Such a person would have also taken over ten hours to level from 49 to 50. And I should point out that if I make the more reasonable assumption that one in five targets is an LT, the time to level decreases by only a few percent, but the calculated shard rate more than doubles (cutting the earning times down to 17 to 26 hours).

I would be interested to see recorded statistics that imply a reasonable scenario generating a far lower shard drop rate than this.
Grin. I hardly ever team, but I do run at high difficulty. I was poisoning what seemed to me to be a metric ton of bosses during my tip missions on my Spines/Electric scrap this morning...I had it set to a level where if I let my mind wander for a bit, I could easily be killed. I got a lot of drops, but not a single shard. But, reading what you wrote, the gathering of these shards takes time, so I should keep on keeping on.

But, gee, it feels like the Shard drop rate could be increased a touch. Not a whole lot as these things are meant to be special, but, I feel like with all that activity I did this morning, I should have received at least one. I got large inspirations, recipes, SOs, and salvage..no shards.

  21. [QUOTE=Hydrofoil_Zero;3428245]The simple truth is that the Alpha is fully solo-able it'll just take longer to do solo. Just like anything else.
Though If you find your completely incapable of running a few missions with a team. I worry about you. I mean why even play a MMO.
I used to almost exclusively solo. Didn't like teaming. I got over it. I think it happened whin I got a toon to 50 in a month teaming where as my original that I worked on for several years is still st around 30.
If you have some specific resin why you don't like to solo I'd love to here it.

    Hello Hydrofoil_Zero.

I unlocked the alpha slot on all my 50s so I know that part is indeed fully solo-able, the filling of it though is another story.
I took one of my level 50s on Tip missions this morning. I cranked up both the difficulty and number of villains

When I finished, I had lots of recipes, SOs, large inspirations, and made a fair amount of influence....what was missing was shards.

    I got not one.

And I have not received shards on any of my unlocked 50s that I have played...so I am not truly convinced about it being possible to fill one solo.

Completely not capable of teaming? Reason for not teaming?

I am capable, just not coordinated. Solo, I do well, but when teamed my deficiencies are obvious to me... crashing into walls which results in my losing the team, sometimes not being able to lock on to my target, I am a slow typist which got me accused of being stuck up.

Oh, I forgot one of your questions...I play this game because my better half dragged me kicking and screaming into it. When when I settled down to a mild wimper I found that beating up bad guys is serious stress therapy, and this game is something He and I can do together...didn't work out that way, we are often on different servers, but we have lively discussions

    Lisa.

First, if they're silent then there's no need to keep them silent
And second, how do you keep someone silent on a thread when the entire way a thread works is for people to give their opinions?

Lisa bounces back into this thread, and gives Golden Girl a hug.

Sorry, about yesterday, I was so shocked about your choice of words describing us soloers...and it went on and on, I had to say something.

Yes, I still think the soloing population is larger than we know.

    Why are they/we quiet?

Many reasons. A lot of people choose not to participate on forums for fear of getting flamed, some, like my better half don't don't come to the forums at all, some people don't bother posting because they feel their input and opinion will not be listened to, so why bother..as I said many reasons.

However, take away their/our ability to solo, make the end game have nothing in it for them/us, make us feel like second class citizens, and I don't know for sure of course, but there is a good chance that they/we all let their wallets do the talking and leave.

Sadly, I will be among them...no dramatics or threat from this statement, just truth

But, it is all moot because I have faith that our Devs will ensure that each new issue will have something in it for both factions..the teamers and the soloers

Lisa-Optimistic and looking forward to Double XP weekend..and in a few months time, issue 20

    Tiny minorities????

Actually , I think you are afraid that the soloing subscribers of this game just might be the silent majority, and are thus actively trying to keep us silent in this thread.

I have been tickled pink so far with discovering the joys to be had with the newly buffed Ma scrappers...and the Hero Merits and the Villain Merits...just wow!!!! I can now make me a super duper scrapper like all the cool kids on the forums have

Seriously, what we have is two sides who are vocal about what part of COH makes them happy. The teamers want teaming content, and the soloers, yay team solo, want stuff they can do solo.

And both sides are afraid the Devs will listen to the other side.

The Devs cannot please everyone, and I applaud and am very grateful for being able to solo as much of it as I can.

I solo because I am a clutz, bang into walls, get lost in the twisted office building hallways, sometimes I can't target the bad guy I want most to hit....oh meee the stories I could tell.

So, I am all for new solo content, but that is me. My better half teams, and teams, and teams, so I am happy that there will be new things for him to do.

So, Devs, I beg of you, when designing the exciting new issues, do keep us soloers in mind, and throw us a piece of pie

There, I chimed in with my two cents.. now, on to the game with me
  24. Wow. I came to the forums looking for an answer to this very question.

I made a MA/Fire and absolutely love it...I was kicking Snaptooth about, when it came to me that the stuns would probably mesh well with /Dark's stun aura..so what can I say...I have one of those now too.

I am not real good about pairing primary and secondaries, so I came here to see what secondaries the experts thought would complement a MA Scrap.

Shields has that yummy damage increasing aura and shield charge

Electric is my fav scrap secondary. With it, I can (1) happily live in the RWZ, (2) chase sappers, (3) beat up carnies with impunity, and (4) Steal everyone's endurance and give it to myself (Evil cackle)

Hmmm...and /elec would be a secondary that would probably do well in Praetoria which is a selling point in itself as I have so far gotten only one toon out of Praetoria, an Elec/Ice Dom.

    Ok, thanks everyone

I am off to make a MA/Elec scrap. Praetorian Sister to Kickspark and Netherworld Kick. I think, if it is available, I will call her Praetorian Kick because she will be very proud to be a Praetorian..and I will not have to spend hours, and hours, thinking up a name..and it is a unisex name so if a cool guy costume becomes available (I did see that Eagle toon) I can change her sex without worrying about changing the name. Win/Win

Again thanks for this thread being here, and thanks for putting up with my brainstorming
