    Energy Armor

Nrg Aura is epic win sauce these days. Easy to soft-cap to s/l/f/c/n, at which point energy def will be near the incarnate cap (59%), and there's quite a bit of pure nrg attacks going on in iContent. Good defense, a little resistance, Energize for a heal and a brief regen buff, and the end drain means not chasing as many recovery bonuses and such.

It's a slug-fest to level before the drain (28 for brutes, 35 for scraps), especially with an end heavy primary (like titan in my case). As mentioned the psi-hole can shaft you if you're not careful. Just hunt down the psi users in a group with extreme prejudice; I'm looking at you Tarantula Mistress, you're first, then your Queen dies too. Little Fortunata, save us both the trouble and run away or mark my words, you're going down.

As far as stealthing with the taunt toggle - just haul pancakes past mobs, most of the time you can zip past them between notifies, which means they just ignore you. Like "brute stealth," but with a bit of actual stealth.

How about the other side of the toon though - what are some great concepts for nrg aura? I kinda have one I like (except that it's accidentially derivative of that Jet Li movie, "The One" ), but I want to rename my scrapper and might go with a different one. Drawing a blank and I was logging into to ask the forumites for ideas when I saw this thread.

It sounds like you've already figured this out, but you don't need shards and their related components to craft alpha abilities. Just use the threads and their related components. Much faster that way. When you do non iTrial stuff and get up to 10 shards, swap them into threads and continue.

Having said that, depending on your luck it might be easier to craft the t4 alpha using Favor of the Well and Shards et al, rather than hoping for a VR reward table drop and using Threads et al.

After you fiddle with the interface a bit it all makes sense.

  5. In that it regen resistance was added recently as an enhancable effect, then yeah. It's just that regen didn't always have the resistance.

    TW/En build help

Still deciding on final powers for mine, but here is a no purples build that I threw together while fiddling. Could get more def by swapping in a Kin Combat into RA, and another Erad into WS. Some of the set bonuses collide with rule of 5s though, but I don't recall which ones. Frankly, between nrg drain and possibly agility or nerve alpha, the extra def bonuses would probably be superfluous.

If you use hami's, cyto's would give you better end redux in FA, and of course FA could be held back and used as needed rather than on persistently. Decent +hp and regen, though less recharge than a build using VR sets.

All that said, probably won't go this route. I have another build with man/assult/tactics that I am trying to squeeze better endo numbers from, this one has significantly less +dam, which is one of my goals. Hmm... chance for buildup in the toggle, forgot about that possibility.

    Anyway.

Check the thread that Microcosm mentioned, it's on page 1 in the scrapper boards.

IIRC: DM/SD is still the flat out DPS king in the Pylon test.

  9. Still fiddling, but it would seem that Mids isn't adding the dmg enhancement from Musculature to the dmg numbers off to the bottom left. It shows the % enhancement in the pop-up windows and such, but the dmg numbers don't change correspondingly.

Overload is still dull pain without the heal. A 2400 HP scrapper is tougher than a 1900 HP scrapper. I don't use it much, but I like having it. AoE end use is absolutely terrible, but if you are using AoE's that means you are fighting more than 3 targets and can completely fill your end bar using Energy drain. I've found my end sustainable against AV's if I either keep one extra foe in range or use Energize for its end discount.

The two travel powers are pretty much there for concept and could be skipped. (or reduced to one)
That's one spendy build you got there, but great def numbers even without the alpha slot toggled on.

I see your point on Overload, but I tend to shy away from things with heafty crashes like that, I guess it's not a big deal to cart around a blue for the crash, then nrg drain on the next mob to fill up. Forgot that it was +hp.

I'm fiddling around with an intermediate build (no purples, no hamis, no pvps, not that I ever have pvps), but I'm not sold on power selection. Would be fun to fit in afterburner if I stick with fly. Tempted to take SS for stealthing repetitive tasks (tips, etc). Too many choices, heh.

I do wonder about a no hasten version of tw/ea. Massive recharge is great to be able to use just heavy hitters repeatedly, but riding the recharge wave from entropy field might be enough. I'm used to using Hasten though, with the exception of one character I guess. Thoughts?

Yeah, I sort of figured that back when I was first unlocking the rommy defeat costume stuff. I was hoping for a sort of "essence transference/capture" thing, but nope - you're expected to have just picked up his stuff when he fell. One can hope though. Of course if it's a choice, I'll take the "fallen enemy as a weapon" any day.

And instead of a regular firebase, whatever organization lets villains into the Shard should TOTALLY have an enormous Airborne Aircraft Carrier, with Lambda sector turrets that fire awesome death beams at approaching swarms of natterlings, wisps, and observers.

Plus, we could have not one, but TWO side exclusive Incarnate content areas, possibly coming to a head with a special PVP zone that discards all semblance of balance and lets players fight with their full incarnate shifts and powers.
This. Seriously. Blue can keep their zones, or heck one goes iZone. Red gets a couple new SS zones based on the two above, one normal one iZone. PvP zone optional, but sure why not. No need for any of it to be co-op.

  14. I'm hoping there's a nictus weapon for TW of some sort, ala the broadsword ITF unlock. Was bummed when I discovered there wasn't a version of that for warhammer, to go with my brute's shield. Heh.

Would like to see a non-rocket powered hammer of some sort, an I-Beam or other industrial salvage parts, a telephone pole, and so on.

Finally, and I know this is unpossible, but I would love a weapon skin for TW that uses a body model from whatever group you are fighting as your weapon. Nothing says epic like beating your enemies with a fallen enemy.

Yeah, I forgot to specify - the empty slot in PS for the achillies proc, and the one in Typhoon is for the FF proc in Whirling Smash.

I plan on using Achillies in both CB and RA, which just gives it more chances to fire, they don't stack on eachother, but they'll stack with RA, which is nice. What I want to do is take a second pass at it and see if I can squeeze more damage and regen out of it.
  16. Hmm.

Agility might be interesting on the /WP, you get a little more out of QR/Stamina, and of course the +rech and +def - although not much unless you are running weave/manuvers/cj or something. (wp has 1 def power, right?)

Have you considered Nerve for the /Nin? You still get a +def bonus from it, and who doesn't love more accuracy? Especially for StJ - less whiffing on builders/finishers.
  17. Lessie, a few points:

For the OP: Swap out the positional bonus sets as shown in the previous two builds. Look into using Force Feedback +rech in Whirling Smash - it's basically Foot Stomp for scrappers. I'm not sure what your budget (or access to alignment merits) is like, but LOTG +rech in your defense toggles is also highly recommended.

Regarding Tough: It effectively doubles your s/l resistance (slightly more than doubles actually) and is definitely worth taking. Come to think of it, I haven't made a melee toon without tough/weave for as long as I can remember.

/EA is stupidly easy to softcap to S/L/F/C/N and can almost push the incarnate softcap (got my build to 55%) on nrg defense without outside buffs and before the defense bonus from nrg drain. The build below iCap's nrg defense with a 6-mob hit of the drain. I'm not done tweaking, and it's not a budget build, but it's below. I will probably frankenslot the powers with purple sets as they are acquired (I have some of the pieces on standby already), and maybe make room for the scrapper ATO set somewhere in there.

I'm not happy with it just yet, so it's a work in progress. Endurance use is still higher than I want it to be and recovery low; I want nrg drain as a tool, not a must have. I would also like to be able to run Musculature Core for that sweet extra dmg, but will likely need Radial for the +endmod. I might be over-built for +accuracy, I'm not convinced I'll take the nrg mastery epic: Phys perf is nice, LBE is nice for theme/looks, but I'm not sure I need/want FA. In the end I will probably stick with this power choice because the confuse/terrorize protection in Tactics isn't all that great, making FA's -to hit resistance more valuable. Also, Fly will likely not be fly.

Does anyone remember what tweak I am supposed to make to mids to calculate hit chance on +4s?

    Edit:

Kioshi: I'd swap your slotting in AoD and WS - Whirling will be up more often than AoD, and as a personal preference I like the proc in the pbAoE over the Cone. Is AoD 10 targets or 5, I want to say 5.

    Double Edit:

It doesn't take very many set bonuses to get to these def numbers, I'd prefer to use a purple insp to fight off def debuffs than use it when I want to be soft-capped (natural def 32.5%). 32.5% is a great target for resist/regen secondaries, but might as well play to a defense based set's strength, imo.

  18. Hmm. That is a shame, though not a surprise. I was really hoping that the ATO would be our way of passing the 80% mark without resorting to using Frenzy all the time.

That's some "above my pay grade" math, but gut feeling is that reducing decay is more favorable an effect than the "increase in rate" - especially given that the rate is clamped to a maximum that negates the ATO for the first third of the fury bar.

    Absolutely.

Spines/DA/Blaze is one of my most fun toons, and one of a select few that made it all the way to 50 and got all decked out in Incarnate Bling.

    No.

Momentum works fine as it is, the "downtime" is barely noticable once you get a decent number of attacks going (mid-20s) and the effect on your endurance bar under momentum is ... staggering ... at times.

That way, you could use it on the almost dead minion, quickly finishing him off (and for low end usage too) and then amble over to the next spawn to smash it.
Interface (w/dmg proc) says that this isn't going to be a problem. Epic primary is epic. Even before 50, the "sliver of heath" problem isn't that big of a deal.

This is helped by the fact that if you have kept it, you probably want to be using it approximately once every ten seconds. If we break approximately ten seconds down into two approximately five second momentum intervals, this means that defensive sweep used only once per ten seconds will keep you regular, as it were, half of the time. That's better than Activia! It's also better than dual blades, for example, where the best combo is mostly single target and therefore very prone to breakage via miss.
I see where you're going with that vis-a-vis DS, but I'm always keen to give end-heavy melee sets plenty of accuracy. Think of it as indirect endurance management. Every swing costs big chucks of blue bar, ergo I want to waste those chunks as little as possible. I've also noticed the rate at which TW/ burns end during momentum, all those rapid swings drop your bar fast. EndRedux slotting definitely helps, but I find that minimizing misses is great for conserving endurance (and shortening fights)

    YMMV and all that.

The fact that you got reported for a blatantly racist comment has nothing to do with the GMs response to your complaint about Silver Mantis's dialogue.

Regarding the rest: It's within your rights to send a note of complaint about what you consider to be innuendo that crosses the line of acceptability in a video game, but use that as justification to grief players at your own risk.

Any hints for this one?

Oh, and yes, I do have the accolade badge.
I don't think it is bugged, last time I was on my brute with that badge it was working. Check your buff icons under your hp/end bar. I think you can also see the buff under combat attributes when it is active. Idk if it showed up in my powers list, never looked.

Also, "Time Lord" is the best badge title ever.
