  1. Sometimes that can work. The predownload we had a few weeks ago made today's update minimal though.

On a side note, you should be able to copy over any custom costume files from Test to Live now.

For me, the original settings work, plus water set to high and reflections to medium. Looks awesome, even without shadows.....turning on shadows drops my frame rates. I hope this will help someone with a low-end card/older system to see a nice visual upgrade to this game we all like so much. I'd love to see posted settings from high-end systems to low. Don't know if jg0001 is still around, but it would be great to see what he'd have his quality settings on in UM, as compared to his original.
I completely agree. I love the shadows, but my 9600GT drops me down to the 10-20 range, so I'm going to leave that off until my upgrade. I was going to do a full system rebuild, but I think I might just go with the video card for now and hope my old Core2Quad can keep up. I'll be looking for a full quality shadow shots for my next calendars though. haha

    For future reference:
The Server Status page will tell you if the servers are currently up or down. The game usually tells you to check it if you are unsuccessful logging in.
  4. While I think even the new boards do have problems, the old boards were WAY worse as a whole. I can't see ever going back.

Plus, level 1 bosses are total pushovers and give the same rewards as level 50 bosses.

I have a couple AE arcs set to level 1 specifically for this reason.
The Contaminated give 0 points though... or at least the last time I ran it.

As I mentioned above, the System Properties window shows a rounded value of how much RAM is addressed, not how much hardware you have. If your other system shows the full 4GB, then it's probably not being truncated by other hardware.

Right, that value should show 4GB regardless of any other hardware. Why it's showing 3.14GB makes no sense to me either.

    1. Since the old Posi is going away, should I actually experience it w/o ghosting?
    2. And is it really going away, if it's going to be in Ouro flashbacks, then it's not such a big deal...
    It's available in Ouro.

And yeah, you read it right, I checked all 4 chips and all 4 chip slots, and all function just fine. After the testing I installed all 4 chips simultaneously. I boot up no prob. My BIOS sees 4 GB. Only Windows XP Home sees 3 GB.

Oh, and it gets weirder. "System Information" under Accesories/System Tools lists "Total Physical Memory" as being 3.14 GB. Figure THAT one out :-P Stoopit computers.
To be more specific, a 32-bit OS can address up to 4GB of memory. This does NOT mean it supports 4GB of RAM. You have to account for any other devices that have memory.

In my case, I have 4GB RAM installed on my WinXP Pro system. I also have a 512MB video card. Even though BIOS detects 4GB RAM, the OS itself can only address 3.5GB after reading the size of the video card, and reports this value in the System Properties.

As for the "Total Physical Memory" being different, I don't see why that would happen. Even though it shows only 3.5GB in System Properties, it still reports the 4GB hardware.

If the system wouldn't boot at all, I would guess either:
    1. one of them was damaged or not fully seated
    2. one of the MB slots is damaged
    3. the MB itself does not support it.
As mentioned, you can put as much memory in a computer as the hardware allows and it should still function.. the software just wont use all of it.
  12. Nice job everybody!

Sorry, no screenshots tonight. I always seem to skip past it when there is a reward screen and action going on in the background. lol

    Anyway, the team:
    Nurse Smurfette (Def)
    Soriano (Blaster)
    Golden Gryphon (PB)
    I am Sofa-King (Tank)
    Gun Father (Blaster)
    Chronarch (Scrapper)
    Symposi (Blaster)
    Rick Revenge (Blaster)

We finished the Sewer Trial in almost an hour flat. I didn't catch the exact time, but I relogged to Nurse at 10:08pm, and we finished the trial before 11:15pm, so it was right around there.

Then we decided to do the Hollows Trial real quick.
I switched from Nurse Smurfette to Phanta-Rad.
Goldberg switched from Soriano to Moulds.

Hollows Trial done quick and smooth in 5:37.

Again, nice job everybody! Thank you all for coming and staying for the bonus round. See you next time!

lol. Yeah, first time I started on it I used the missions in Warburg with a team of 8 people. It was annoying. I didn't finish it. I put it aside with the Mu Guardian as one of the only ones I had left and just worked on a couple other characters instead.

I revisited it and finished them off on when the STF came out, and then took another couple of toons through it for theirs as well. Progress, FTW! haha

This. Freedom's event is not even going on today. I'm on it and it seems just fine.

Champion on the other hand.. I just came from there and the entire population is huddled up together creating a lot of extra lag. I normally not have problems even during RWZ Raids, but this was pretty bad... still playable though.

I'd assume so, yes. The new policy of relogging will most likely still have a timer, but simply let you pick a new toon without "logging off" and having to re-enter our password... so not really any faster than what we have now other than however long it takes you to enter your password.

On my machine it takes about 10 seconds to switch characters that way. It's a huge time saver when you're logging in a bunch of alts to shift them to new day jobs or checking the market on a lot of different characters.
Correct, but as shown in other threads regarding that command, it's unstable for some people. It can cause the client to freeze, and they have to open a new client which defeats the purpose... and on older systems, or those with low memory they can't handle running the extra browser application at the same time. lol

It'll be good to have an official way to do this.

Besides, I think the point is some people don't want to re-enter their password. The 30 second timer is probably still going to apply to switching characters unless you force a re-log either by your method or by opening a second client in the background.

Yeah. I guess if you are only going for the first badge of defeating 10, it would be quite lucky to hit the overload on the first or second trap. I didn't think of it that way. That would be sweet. lol
