Quote:Dunno, MH, but here's my guide:
Start CHV, log in, go back to desktop, start CHV, log in second account, play. Alt tab as necessary.
Alternately, I set up another shortcut to help:
"...\City of Heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -project coh -maxinactivefps 5
That will skip the updater process and make logging into the second account a little faster. The fps command at the end is designed to keep the inactive window running slower to free up resources to help your active window run more smoothly. As long as you have enough RAM to hold two (or more) instances of the game, you should be fine.
Note:
Even though the shortcut above skips the updater and allows multiple clients to be loaded simultaneously, loading more than one client at once can get buggy sometimes. I've had mixed results with this. It doesn't seem to be consistent. Every once in a while, one of the clients gets really bad performance (even delayed response at the login screen) and needs to be reloaded. For that reason, I second the suggestion above to let one client fully load before opening the next, regardless if you skip the updater or not. That seems to ensure each one is loaded properly. YMMV
I add the maxinactivefps command to all my shortcuts regardless if I'm planning to dual-instance or not. You never know when you'll want to log in another character for something. If you don't add it to your main shortcut, you can use "/maxinactivefps 5" in-game as well. For best results, you must run the command on each and every client instance being run. It's not necessary to run the command again after relogging. -
Quote:According to the description, it is only increased for defeated enemies.I got this badge last night. I noticed that I'm getting the normal level of prestige, i.e. 344 prestige for mission complete. Anyone else have this issue? It seems I'm not getting the 10% bonus.
That being the case, Mission and Arc Completion bonuses would remain the same as it always has been. -
Quote:Indeed. It was in the same location even on the old forum's layout (except the "English" distinction).City of Heroes Forums > English > Development > Technical Issues & Bugs
Where it's always been, as near as I can remember.
I think the difference now is that we no longer see the names of the forums in each category (unless you use the link to the English subsection), and since people usually get help from other players in the Tech forum, that it would be in the Player Help section instead, and skip right over it. -
Quote:I agree, and I think this is a pretty nice announcement that should stand out. I don't always check that thread, and seeing this title certainly made me happy.given that I've pretty much never have had anything to do with that thread, I see no reason to start now.
I admit, I actually did see the news in the other thread first, but only because it was un-stickied and thrown down here with everything else. lol -
Ran this one at +3 for a little while. We cleared through the first mission getting handfulls of lvl 54s to defeat. It took us half an hour, but it was quite fun. lol
We had a bit of trouble getting started on the Riders though. We decided to turn things down for the rest.
Hami gave us a bit of trouble as well though. It seems we forgot about needing holds, so we were completely unprepared. Luckily, we seemed to have barely enough that were able to aplha stack it and take each one down. The timing had to be just right.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun. I'll see you all next week!

Quote:I like the control I get from using the mouse to steer. I'm not saying it'd better than a gamepad.. but the gamepad doesn't have all the extra keys for lovely binds and other cool stuff.. plus I can actually click on the screen if I'm using a mouse. What color are the clouds where you live??? Every single person I know in game (that I have asked so far anyways) uses a game pad.....as do I. I cannot imagine using a keyboard and mouse! Ever! Fine for Wow and all it's knock offs, where the pace is slow....but CoH?? I would quit if they got rid of controller support!

Sometimes just for fun I use 0.1 so it'll update every tenth of a second. It goes too fast to read, but it's interesting. haha

Quote:I think they fit well and it gave me a good chuckle.*cough* yeah, I was just attempting to remain as similar to the source material as I could. And had a long head-scratching session over those three.
45? wow! I never considered how much mine was currently worth. I think we get 1 point per year, 1 point per 1000 posts, and 1 point for every 100 rep.. so yeah.. I guess that's a nice bonus. lol -
Quote:Before anybody says anything about me posting this.. the above is a copy/paste from the Dual Pistols Preview Beta in February, and does not imply anything about any possible involvement in the current GR Beta. It simply lists the basic standard rules of Beta. If the Devs happened to have copy/pasted the same set of rules into the GR Beta E-mail, that would not be my fault.

LOL @ The Grim Heaper's Fight Club rules. That's a good one!

Maybe he meant slotting any 2 of the new ones (since they have the same stats), not necessarily a duplicate of the same exact one. Then again, for all I know that isn't allowed either. I dunno..

Official announcement here:
Quote:Earning the Resolute badge rewards all characters with the following: - A permanent 10% bonus to Prestige earned by defeating enemies

Quote:Running any of the arcs unlocks ALL the sets.Okay, maybe I missed something and this is how it's supposed to work.
tl;dr version: I was able to pick a power from a patron whose arc I did NOT complete.
Quote:Just to be sure, I checked my badges and I have the Mirage badge from Scirocco's arc. The last time I had a villain get this high, I'm pretty sure it restricted me to the Patron powers for which I had actually done the arc. Am I mistaken about that?
On a side note, I understand the confusion. When this change was released, it was advertised as "Villains can now respec into a different patron pool", but we can also pick any pool we want the first time as well. -
Quote:Fixed again. When playing squishy, I tend to target through unless the tank is flipping through enemies or can't decide.
Then it's back to good old "+$$Target_Enemy_Near$$follow$$powexecname Bone_Smasher"
Back on topic:
I only ever target through somebody else if I'm playing on a support toon. I might target a scrapper or a blaster and send attacks to their target. That way, I'm still doing my part to attack the enemy, and still being ready for that quick heal. -
/bind KEY "targetcustomnext mypet imp"
That will target your closest Imp. Pressing it again will target the next closest (from it's current position). If the pets are moving around, it might not cycle to each one "correctly", but since you only have 3, it shouldn't be a big problem to just press it again to cycle through. -
Like we said, If you already have Ninja Run turned on when you press W, it'll be reversed. Make sure you don't have it on before you start pressing W.
Reversing the commands wont work correctly unless you have CJ toggled already while standing still. -

Special thanks to Luna for understanding and dealing with it all. I know things can get crazy with so many people to organize, especially when people cancel last minute. I hated having to do that.
Thanks again everybody for letting me deal with real life. lol See you guys next week!
Oh, and while I'm kinda on the subject, the vacation we ended up planning is going to overlap the event on Monday 8/9, so I wont be able to lead that one either. I don't remember off the top of my head what is running that night, but I'm sure you'll be in very capable hands. -

1.) Do you even remember what server you were on? Are you sure you checked them all? It can get a little confusing when their positions move around slightly as you relog to each one. It can be easy to accidentally skip one.
2.) Open for the ..\City of Heroes\your_account_name\playerslot.txt file. That might give you a clue to what server the character was on. If not, delete it just in case it is causing a conflict with the client and pushing your character to a position off the viewable pages.
3.) Are you sure you are on the same account? Some people accidentally create a new account when they purchase a retail copy and add it to their master account, without realizing they should have used the code to upgrade their existing trial game account.
4.) Create a new character, log in, and submit a /petition to ask a GM what might have happened to your character and how to access it.
5.) 30 hours? That seems like quite the wait. I hope you get things straightened out so it'll be worth the wait and you can enjoy the game. -
If I were the programmer, I'd make the power grey/inactive on the other side. That would prevent them from stacking. It would also make you re-earn certain powers if you switch, but that's the price you pay for switching sides. haha
Or, if we wanted to be more "fair", they would simply allow us to keep our accolades after switching, and allow us to earn all the badges, but the accolade powers themselves would be blocked if you already earned the other version of it from the opposite side. -

I just confirmed by logging onto the Open Test Server that the same character does not have the souvenir, despite having the badge for running the TF back when it first came out.
Live Server:
Test Server (I checked higher on the list, and the souvenir is nowhere to be found):
-
Quote:No, because my other character that has the souvenir never ran the MoLGTF. I was simply giving the possibility that the souvenir didn't exist at one point, and only people who have completed the TF after the date it was added/fixed would have it. I used MoLGTF as an example to give a timeframe of when he ran the TF and earned it.. meaning it awards at least since i17. That toon probably had not run the TF since it was released because I use other characters for it, but it's at the ottom of the list, so he didn't have the souvenir before.I wonder if that is the difference, Master-Blade, if the Lady Grey Taskforce souvenir only gets awarded on a MoLGTF and not a regular LGTF? I had only successfully completed a normal LGTF for the first time on this character when the Apocalyptic badge was awarded 7/13/2010, so it can't be that the TF was run too long ago to get the souvenir awarded.
If you just ran the TF as recently as this week and didn't get it, then maybe it did break again. I dunno.
TF/SFs treat EVERY member of the team as a mission-holder though. We certainly earn souvenirs without having to lead a team. This is how some of us unlock Katie or Hess TFs, by running a contact's arc through Ouro as a team.
