is there a way to make the camera follow me from behind and turn when i turn? becoming a pain to adjust my cam every 5 secs to get it facing the way im running

Use the right mouse button rather than the middle mouse button.

I personally love fiddling with the camera. I always have my right mouse button down.

But you can go to Menu->Options-> (i think) Controls (the second tab) -> Free Camera movement and toggle that setting. I think that is what you are looking for.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

I used to use the Arrow Keys for my turning, but after a while, I just got used to having the mouse in my right hand, much like I'm used to with first-person shooters. It helps out a lot to just be holding down the right mouse button half the time.

Also, if you ever DO use the middle mouse button and get your character off of the pivot point a bit, the easiest way to do it is to scroll all the way in, then back out. That resets the camera, and it's a lot easier than memorizing the hotkey for it.

B...the hotkey is B. Just hit it twice in quick fashion and voila! Camera is reset.

Or hit the actual hotkey, Page Down, once.

I navigate with WASD keys. I grew up with the Atari 2600 and NES, so I'm used to using my left hand to navigate. I use Q and E to turn, and the camera follows me when I turn.

Not quite. You have to target something, and start moving towards it, then go into first person and back out.

That will not reset it to perfectly straight and level. Some testing was done by Shadow Ravenwolf and Master Blade. They discovered the problem and the fix, above.

Thank you, and yes.. but to be more specific, you don't just move toward the target. You have to briefly use the Follow command on the target for it to reset your vertical axis as well.

I had created a bind to do all this at the push of a button, but I don't remember it off the top of my head, so I'll go look for it...

Edit:

/bind KEY "+$$++first$$follow"

Make sure you have any object/player/foe targeted, and press KEY.

Note: There is no need to press the key twice. The release of the key re-runs the command again which automatically stops following and returns you back to third person view. The trick works the same whether you are standing still, walking, running, jumping, or even flying.
As long as you have a target, your view will instantly reset to camera-origin when you press KEY.
There is more in the post about making it work for base editing purposes, but I cut it out to keep this post simple and clean. Anybody interested can simply visit the thread for more info, and even see our mind working from post to post as we tried different things. lol.

On a side note, I think the first two people who responded to this thread have the real answers the OP was looking for.

Heh, yes. Page Down can be screwy, and B can be a little bit as well. For me, it's just much easier to scroll in 'til I hit first-person, then scroll back out as I desire. That way, if I hit Page Down and I'm still not dead center, I'm not tempted to want to throw a heavy object against the wall, like my expensive monitor... It's also ever so slightly easier than setting up a bind, though I'm sure that bind can come in just as handy, and I might even end up using that someday... Haha.

Both reset it horizontally though, and that's all I particularly care about (so I'm not running all crooked). I'm always looking around up and down, anyway.

Dec out.

It makes a HUGE difference when flying. You won't be flying level if you just hit page down.

Here we go. Found Shadow's video.

To anybody that watches this video (or any video actually), don't forget to also read the summary.

I'm directional by mouse. I'm rarely flying level (I tend towards parabolas).

Dec out.

*slaps thigh and chuckles politely* So THAT'S what happened to the Titanic... It didn't hit an iceburg, it tried to barrell roll AWAY FROM ONE!
