Do what you can for your family
We'll all be here when you get back

Can we have some L50 Masterminds head over to Test and check on the following, then report back...
- Reward tables for endgame events have been adjusted based upon collected data.
- Players will now find their chance of being awarded higher tier rewards has been slightly increased.
- Pets should now apply the Reactive Interface DoT as expected.
- All Lore support pets now provide positional defense as well as typed defense.
- Mk. VI Essence attacks now appear in the Pets Combat Log.
I suspect that there is a chance that Mastermind participation issue may have been "stealth fixed" and put under the "adjusted" moniker above. Of course, being an EU player I can't go test this out for you myself!
Also, Reactive fixed for those of you who are DoT fans! - Reward tables for endgame events have been adjusted based upon collected data.

Quote:But all that statement effectively said was "It's all working fine, but Uncommons are set to be too common and we'll fix that". It doesn't wash with me - a statement like that didn't need the detail it went into or the sanitisation of Marketing.Probably because the Participation mechanic as a whole is proprietary. Any statements made about it would have to go through marketing to ensure they didn't unveil anything that might benefit a competitor.
But... well, I've stopped playing iTrials until the fixes are in. Including the Mastermind fix(es). -
Quote:Aye, however I'm not buying it. They already stated there was a Mastermind issue. And a comment of "Uncommons are out of balance" does not account for why the "statement" took so long to prepare and had to go through Marketing.Read the new announcement; no we are not. The participation system only checks for a "threshold" of participation. After that, if you qualified for a component, you could get any tier of component.
I suspect this is a smoke and mirrors affair to cover the changes they'll actually be making to participation. -
Quote:Intriguing concept, but surely the "Danger Zone" should be in radius of the objectives (be it Nightstar, or a Lambda Crate). And judged by how long you are in that radius, for the lifespan of the objective. The radius being the average ranged power activation distance.Second Act: Defeat Nightstar. The entire inside of the BAF is a Danger Zone, as you don't know where she'll be pulled to for the fight.
Get what I mean? If this is even feasible, of course, it would then reward people for moving with the herd.
Of course, you then need to add in some other participation metric on top or else you could just auto-follow someone - perhaps successfully activating/having active at least 10 independent powers (toggles included) while in these zones. -
- Make the participation system only account for the Threads, Common and Uncommon Tables.
- Increase Thread costs for crafting Common and Uncommon components (by at least a third) to make the new restricted Trial Rewards worthwhile.
- Remove random component drops from initial "Master of" and initial Badge Credits and replace with a single Empyrean Merit (also backport this for those currently with a badge).
- Make the Rare and Very Rare components only craftable with Empyrean Merits.
- Realign the crafting cost of Rares and Very Rares in Empyrean Merits in light of the above (perhaps reducing by a third? Balanced vs. devs original estimated timeframes in any event)
-
Yeah, the warning was in time for me to get out of range. Was a shock getting stunned through Dispersion Bubble first time though!
-
Well, the new information that's leaked out around the edges of the moderation trying to cover it all up is very disappointing. Also really explains why Masterminds are behind the curve too (even if pet participation wasn't an issue).
I hope they can do something to fix the participation system sharpish. -

The Tier Three Incarnate Alpha Slot.
With a L50, head to Ouroborous and speak to Mender Ramiel. He should poke you anyway once you log in a L50 in any event. -
Please see my guide (located in my sig) which covers the Incarnate Slots for Masterminds.
(Short answer: Yes, any attack that does damage will have a chance to proc, even from henchmen) -
Quote:Ah, I saved up 16 Empyrean Merits which gave me the two Rares needed for Destiny and Lore. Also, a Master of BAF run gave me another Rare I could use for Judgement (very lucky, for me). My Interface is still at Uncommon, and I have used my many Astral Merits/Threads to create Uncommons for all of the slots over again.Bah, Rares! I have a grand stinking total of one, and it doesn't even give a level shift!
((Not including the V.Rare Alpha, but that doesn't rely on the broken MM drop tables...))
At this stage I only need Rares and Very Rares. -
Quote:Or quicker would have been reading my guide....heheh After reading this I HAD to check since my MM just opened Lore late last night.

Slotting: Incarnate Slots and the Modern Mastermind
[...]
Lore Slotting
The Lore slot is unlocked by Psychic Incarnate XP, which can either be earned in the BAF (Behavioural Adjustment Facility) Incarnate Trial or the Incarnate Threads component can be converted into this XP type.
Once crafted and slotted, this slot will provide 1-2 fully controllable henchmen, much like your existing Mastermind henchmen. You will be able to rename them, issue /petsay commands (although emotes do not function for them), pass them inspirations, etc. same as you can do with any other henchman (though this is not the case for all AT's).
Please note that the Mastermind inherent Supremacy and Bodyguard Mode (see "Core Powers: Bodyguard") does not affect Lore henchmen, although any slotted Alpha and Interface Incarnate abilities will (excluding recharge reduction). These henchmen are summoned at -1 to your level, regardless of number of them and will be level shifted according to your Incarnate slotting.
Currently, you have a choice of four paths Clockwork (Praetorian Clockwork), IDF (Praetorian Troops), Seers (Preatorian Psychics) and Warworks (Praetorian Robots). As the abilities increase in rarity, the power will be summoning two henchmen at once. -

Bah, until they roll out the fix for Masterminds, I'm languishing in the Rares for now. Still, gratz to those with the Very Rares!
Now we have to work on every Trial run in the EU being a "Master of". I'm looking at you Deviants - no excuses for BAF's not being Master of's and it's high-time we worked on the same for Lambda. -
Solid idea - though I'd perhaps mark some of the better points for people with Repel/KB auras as an "optional extra".
Likewise on Defiant while we don't team-split rigorously as per your map, we've still got things down to a fine art of allowing no escapees.
The trick is trying to get a Defiant BAF to go for the rest of the Master of requirements. We've done it - just not on a routine basis. -
Updated and made some clarifications to the Interface and Lore Incarnate abilities as they relate to Masterminds (e.g. Supremacy not affecting Lore pets, and only damaging attacks proc'ing Interface).
-
Masterminds do indeed have issues with trial Rewards, and changes are being made as per Redname confirmation...

Good work all! Job done.
Now to check the changes are good to go when it hits test/live. -
Quote:Excellent - Masterminds ID'd as an issue and changes made to compensate. Job done.

Quote:I was on it with them for the 600-odd person stream (that was at 3am UK Time) and it was pretty okay - the issue tends to be the PC in question, and what else is running on it.uStream was lagging on Wednesday with 64 people in there, with the video stopping and starting and the chat window at several points bodysliding into the ethereal vapours. Dread to think what it'll be like with higher numbers and chat that moves faster than a weasel after peanut butter covered weasel lures.
I guess the streaming software is a real bandwidth/resource hog. Since they've planne dit in advance, hopefully they'll be taking all precautions reasonable to make it a smooth stream.
Or not -
Try looking at it this way... we get a Ustream Dev Chat at a reasonable hour instead?
Yeah, I know... -
I got nothing. Though i did giggle like a maniac when my new T3 Radial Ion power held a bunch of Vickies in a Trial. Mag 4 hold procs are fun!
-
Quote:Indeed, and I think every Mastermind has come to this conclusion. With one proviso - something about the system isn't handling us correctly!Having the reward affected by your participation level, but still with a degree of randomness, fits my experience perfectly
Most specifically for those of us who have minimal-enemy affecting powers (e.g. Traps, Forcefields where either a "pet" is doing the attacking, or is buff-centric)
I'm stuck in the land of Commons on my Bot/FF. I've managed to lure a couple of Uncommons and my only Rares come from Empyrean Merit conversions. Very Rares? What are they?!
I'd love to be complaining that the Common table doesn't come up enough. It's all I get - so I keep claiming two Super Insps and selling them as I have more Threads than I will ever need to craft Commons.
I would seriously ask the devs to look at how their participation code treats Masterminds in comparison to other Archetypes. Something is screwy. -
Quote:The description refers to "most damaging attacks", in essence most all attacks that do damage. It is not referencing only your attack that does the most damage.Under the description the effect mentions most damaging attack. Well the stalker is totally boned if that attack is AS!. AS is such a pain to get off and the recharge rate is horrible. If its true the stalker would be better off dropping AS from the build.
Wrong end of the stick here, I have to say. -
Early results from a new Mastermind tactic - enter with nothing summoned or toggled. Get into the BAF compound if you're doing the BAF. Then summon and toggle up. 2/2 Uncommon Rewards so far... (better than I have been doing otherwise)
