Quote:If the pseudopet is untargetable and invisible, and all it's doing is sending a buff and costume change and being sent damage until it's dead, does it really matter where in a given zone the pet is? The range of those sorts of things could be set functionally infinite, as far as I can tell. Couldn't it just chill wherever you hit Granite and do everything from there? Or would this cause problems with the game having to keep that area in memory, or something? The biggest problem with using pseudo pets to do this sort of thing is that, to the best of my knowledge, there is no game mechanical way to "lock" the location of the pseudo pet to be the same as your location consistently. The pet would have to be programmed to follow you. It would be amusing, but perhaps not ideal, if players occasionally got their Granite Armor caught on a tree and left it behind.

If you're looking for a gaming convention on the east coast that would be eager to have you, might want to look at MAGFest. It's not the biggest con in the world but it's pretty stellar in terms of having a good time and getting things done.

Quote:I have a question.Every time the topic comes up internally, I bring up the Blood of the Black Stream. I like the concept, I like the backstory, I like the powers...no one seems to like the amount of TIME they'd take, though. Coralax are totally 'meh' to me...unless we ever get that Underwater Zone that's been talked about.
You say you like the concept, the backstory, the powers of the Blood of the Black Stream. So, my question is, what the hell is the concept, the backstory, the powers of the Blood of the Black Stream? It's vaguely hinted at a couple of times in the game, a clue in a single arc and a salvage description, but that's it. -
Is he called Tyrant by the loyal citizens, or just Emperor Cole? Or just Emperor?

Really? 'cause I would think that any critter that can possibly be set as an ally in an Architect mission is a potential buffbot, or at least a potential way to skew rewards without doing direct damage, and that'd mean almost every critter in the game.

Quote:Why not, though? Assuming the tech exists.I don't think a tetris-like game was what was suggested.
One of the nice things about Dungeons and Dragons Online is all the Pipe Dream puzzles, at least for me. Yeah, a walkthrough can exist, but it's still fun and challenging to just do them.
Also, puzzles with randomized setups or initial states can definitely work regardless. -
You aren't interested in advance warning of someone who sees no problem with stealing hundreds of millions of inf? Fine. Whatever. Laugh at the poor saps who tried to amuse people, and at no point ever did anything remotely comparable to theft.
We gave this guy countless second chances, gone to bat for him repeatedly, and apparently after five years he decides out of nowhere that he's too put-upon, steals from the one guy who never had an ill word to say about anyone, and then hangs around until the theft gets found out. And then proceeds to act self-righteous about it, claiming it as "severance pay". You think that's something laudable, then by all means, welcome the little turd. I'm just here trying to keep you from getting screwed over yourself. -
If you have @Pratz Strike in your supergroup, possibly on his new villain alt Lady Mouse, be warned. He decided he'd been the butt of too many jokes about when he farmed a half-dozen characters to 50 on Architect in a single free week and then told Kotaku about the evils of Architect farms, so he cleaned out what SG storage he could access and sold it off. The perfectly awesome and entirely inoffensive Space Ace is out a Luck of the Gambler: +Recharge and several lesser sets. This little cretin is not to be trusted.

I'd love to get feedback on one of my arcs. Arc #4827, "Earth for Humans", a 5-mission, high-level arc intended for a heroic perspective.
-
It means that if you put PP with Recovery IOs in it is as good as Stamina with Recovery IOs in anything else. Which at high levels can be very good, if squeezing Fitness in is straining your power choices.
-
I got to thinking about how Physical Perfection works, with its set capabilities, and it occured to me to try something out. Apologies if this is old news, but the results were ... certainly interesting.
I took a Miracle unique, a Numina's Convalescence unique, and three common Endurance Modification enhancers, and tried to see how much endurance I could get out of them. With this fairly standard slotting:
I get these results, for Recovery:
Whereas with this slightly more unorthodox slotting:
I am able to get these results:
Now, here's the reason for this. The heal uniques, and other 120 second boost IOs, actually work by adding their effects to the power itself. So, those effects are considered to be in the power that the IOs are slotted in, and are granted as the power takes effect. And most significantly, those effects are enhanceable.
For example, Health is worth 40% Regen, or (practically) 80% when slotted. A Regenerative Tissue plus a Numina's Convalescence are, together, worth 40% Regen. A slotted Health that has those uniques in it gives 160% regen, not 120%, because that enhancing is applying to the 40% Regen given by the IOs as well as that given by Health.
In Physical Perfection, as you see here, the IO effects are being added into the power. And thus, the Endurance Modification enhancements in Physical Perfection are boosting the +Recovery of the IOs as well. 25% from the IOs, plus 12.5% from the power itself, times (essentially) 2 for the EndMod enhancing, equals +75% Recovery - the same as the 25% from the IOs added to the 50% from slotted Stamina.
Now, there are certainly benefits to using Fitness aside from just the recovery boosts. Regen can be very handy for a lot of sets, especially Shields and SR. Movement boosts are always nice. The ability to get an Efficacy Adapter set in Stamina for recharge. Or, hell, just to have +Recovery before 44 or if you want one of the other epics. And there's certainly incentive to take both, for some powersets. But if you don't care about other epics and don't plan on exemping down below 39 ... well. Something to keep in the back of your head, perhaps.
Oh, and as best as I can recall, the only other powers that will both let you slot heal Uniques and let you enhance for EndMod are Transfusion in Kinetics and Energy Drain in Energy Aura, and those sets don't need any help keeping their blue up. So there's not much general use for this trick outside of this power. -
Quote:Really? Quickness? I'd expect Ninjitsu to get the reverse of what Dark Armor and Energy Aura got, and trade its Hide for a Cloak of Darkness/Energy Cloak analogue. What's a Ninjitsu set without any stealth in it, anyway? If Nin were ported to SR, its basically a given that it would lose Hide and gain some other power. If I had to guess, I would guess that Nin would gain quickness or a similar analog. I don't know if Castle would be comfortable letting Nin scrappers keep smoke flash or not. My guess though is that a scrapper Ninjitsu with quickness and a replacement utility power replacing smoke flash would be very popular blue side. I'd certainly roll one.
I'd also wonder how they'd treat Caltrops, given Weapon Mastery. -
Quote:If that couple thousand prestige is every month is so important that it's worth legging it to Atlas or Oakes, then by all means, turn it off.One thing, though: Rent is "due" every 4 weeks, but you don't get any penalties whatsoever until 6 weeks have passed, and access isn't revoked until 8 weeks have passed. Automatic rent would effectively hike your prestige costs for rent by 50-100% (due to paying more frequently), depending on what you want your base for.
-
A simple idea. It's annoying to log in to the game and see that the base's power has lapsed, because people have put off paying the base rent or what have you. It's even more annoying to have to track down someone who's ranked high enough in an SG to be allowed to pay the rent - and god forbid your Super-Leader have it set so only they can, and be missing from the internet for any amount of time.
So, how about an option, in the Supergroup Options menu, that'll allow someone with permission to pay rent the ability to turn on automatic payment of rent, when it's due? If people would rather not do this, either preferring to pay it themselves or trying to stretch their Prestige, it could certainly be turned off. And if people want, they can not ever have to worry about rent so long as they have enough banked Prestige to keep making those four-digit rent payments. -
GW at 50 will do 2623.95 to a 50, with her Soul Storm. Survivable with some regen and/or some resistance, but then she's also got 10 seconds to shoot you.
-
Let's set aside the PVP IO until the price drops below 600m.
-
And now, the big question is, is it possible to get that chain smooth on a DM/Shield without sacrificing the softcap?
-
I'm gonna assume money is not an issue, and use a Gladiator's Armor in this to soft-cap everything except ranged, which is at 44.97%. That's what the second slot in Tough is. I'm also gonna assume that 21.1 hp/second is enough regen, .07 end/second is an acceptable rate of endurance expenditure when chaining, and 191 dps before factoring an Achilles' Heel proc in Slash is sufficient killing power - given that yours has 190, I feel that last one is a safe assumption. So, given those assumptions, here. Should be gapless, if my math's right.

On the other hand would it be possible that you try to calcul the dps that could do a spine scrapper in a 8 man team, when you have your power hitting 10 foe each time ?
[/ QUOTE ]
I wish. But I wouldn't know where to start on calculating average aoe output.
[/ QUOTE ]
You could calculate each AoE as though it were attacking the number of people it's assumed to be hitting on average, for the Recharge/Endurance formula. -
An Enzyme would, yes. But it wouldn't enhance recharge the way Membranes do. And you want recharge in Active Defense, to perma if you don't have huge global recharge and to stack if you do.
-
Which stats monitor? The one in the enhancement slotting screen, or the Combat Attributes window? Membranes should enhance it, by everything I'm seeing.
-
I have two arcs currently published that I'd love to get feedback or just general publicity on. Both are linked in the sig, they're #4827 (heroic) and #6391 (villainous).

I just have a couple quick question. I know Castle had mentioned earlier (some weeks prior to today) that some powers wouldn't be available, such as SoA and Kheldian powersets... however the Massively article has this as a bulletpoint:
[ QUOTE ]
Give enemies any powers you want. (Emphasis added)
[/ QUOTE ]
Has the position stated by Castle earlier changed? Or are Kheldian powersets still unavailable for custom minions? Is there any chance, if they are NOT being included now, that they WILL be included reasonably soon in the future? One of my arc ideas necessitates access to the Warshade powersets.
(*hopes that they WILL be available!*)
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a bit misleading. You can chose 2 powersets that include almost all powersets available to players, but you can mix-match them in ways not available to players. (Ex: Fire Blast + Invulnerability ).
Not as great of a bullet point, I know. We would love to expand this system further, but we cannot by release.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you can't, essentially, just reskin PPD cops or Romulus or suchlike as custom squigger enemies? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Two quick ones.
Break up the Clockwork and the Skullls (Negotiator badge)
Contact: Maurice Feldon
Merits awarded: 4 (+3)
That's right, I said 4.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait what? Isn't that a single mission?
[/ QUOTE ]
A 60-minute timed kill-all of Clockwork and Skulls, that exemps you to 9, and the contact isn't even in the same zone as the mission? That sounds pretty reasonable, yeah. -
[ QUOTE ]
But we get plenty of respecs, vetspecs, and dual builds. So....there's really no excuse to whine about this one.
I think it's awesome, especially for folks who have characters who would use those travel powers straight away instead of having to go through something they don't want in concept.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you're missing my point. With this change, Veterans will have a definite, build-altering advantage over non-Veterans. Temp powers and vet pets are insignificant and unreliable, but not having to take Recall Friend on your Stone Tank, for instance, frees up a power choice that a non-vet won't have. I think that's a bad idea, and probably harmful to the game.
