No, you misunderstood me (although I should've seen it coming; using this sort of analogy never works on the internet). I'm not trying to compare thrashtalking to sexual assault, I'm comparing the attitudes which people are met with afterwards.

What I'm basically trying to point out is that I think that just because someone speaks up against being repeatedly killed by a group of other players, without giving them a reward and without posing a challenge it's not ok for said players to start verbally abusing them.

I read through some of the thread but got bored, so this might've already been said.

Compare the following two statements:

"It's your own fault. You shouldn't have started whining on broadcast. Of course people are going to start verbally abusing you if you do that!"

Now, I know comparing trash talking to [censored] is a bit inflammatory, but I'm shooting for the general attitude here, that of blaming the victim.

Edit: Gaah, I hate censorship ><. The word that got censored describes the act of forcing someone to a sexual contact.

I'm sad to see you go; you've always been a voice of reason and calm on the board. I am awed by your ability to shrug off the constant negativity displayed by the community. Don't get me wrong now, I love the coh forums, but in such a large group of people there's bound to be negative feelings, jackasses and other bad things. Lighthouse took care of all of them.

I once ate at a random McDonald's together with the dark clan of demon-worshippers I LARPed with, just after the LARP was over. Of course, we were all more or less in costume, and it was great fun getting funny looks from the staff and other customers at our evil-looking robes (and a few of us were warriors still in chainmail).

The thread got kinda long, so I didn't read all of it (and thus, the things I say might already have been stated).

Cryptic are expanding quickly. This means that they won't have to divert resources from coh to the new marvel game; they can do both. The only problem I can see is that the playerbase might leave coh in favour of the new shiny game, but if that's the case then the new shiny game will probably be the better one, meaning that I'll be there too (provided everyone will come to their senses and make it avaliable on the pc of course). In other words, no real need for worry!

Yup, it's all an evil plan from the developers to make us play a set which is much worse than all the others

You don't actually have a chance to gain endurance by attacking; the attacks only have a chance to recover a fraction of the endurance they cost (think it's 30% of power cost, not sure if it's enhanceable or if the enhancements are only for the drain). At least it works that way for blasters.

I didn't take charged brawl on my blaster, so I can't comment on it; but both havoc punch and thunderstrike have always (AFAIK at least) had those animations, so I don't think there was much hope of them getting new animations all of a sudden.

They're probably the same, at least (AFAIK) all the other sets are the same numbers-wise as their scrapper/brute counterparts.

I ran a little bit with a elec/elec brute and what is with all the missing. Its like to the extreme of 5-6 even 7 attacks in a row were missing. I even put a level 2 acc enhance in each one of my attacks to see if that would help. Really no change. If this is a bugg it desperately needs to be fixed.

And to the people feeling accuracy is low: It's probably just that you aren't used to playing lowbies...even if you slot two training origin enhancements you'll still be significantly worse off than with just one SO.

I don't have too much experience with dominators, so I'm just guessing here, but maybe dominators would've gotten too powerful if they had acess to buff/debuff and/or mez protection? (those two options seem to be what isn't represented either by primary/secondary or these new power pools for doms)

Heroes don't get their powers by themselves; they get trained by more powerful heroes (that's why you have to visit a signature hero to train you everytime you gain a level).

I can understand if people feel that the app's don't fit their concept, but I nevertheless wanted to post my ideas on how to make it work, because I feel that I can work this into any character pretty nicely.

First of all, nothing has been revealed about the storylines yet (except that they are called patron arcs, which is some kind of indication that you'll work for the villains), there might be an option to do something sneaky or evil to your patron to get the powers without becoming their minion (and what self-respecting supervillain doesn't want more power?). And even if there isn't, you can still ignore the storyline and write something different about how you aquired the powers in your bio, I can't imagine that all of the other arcs your character goes through during the leveling process are 100% compatible with every concept, so there's often some adjusting to be done.

Second, although your character draws his/her powers from a very specific source in most cases doesn't mean that he/she can't make use of powers from other sources...I mean, just because you're superstrong and almost invulnerable doesn't mean you can't be infused with spiritual energies by Ghost Widow, or that you're somehow repelling all arachnos fortunatas thereby preventing one from allying herself (for various reasons, might be because Lord Recluse feels the need to keep an eye on you, you're very powerful after all, or because she wants in on your loot/power/glory) with you. And, like I said, villains want power. It's quite common for a villain in a weak position (like one living under the shadow of a _very_ powerful criminal overlord, being supported by his organization) to do some sucking up until he/she is in a better position to get the upper hand

Some general thoughts:

1: Don't dismiss powers until you've tried them; there might be synergies you didn't think of.

2: Patron powers are not supposed to be the pinnacle of you character's achievement, they are supposed to round out your abilities and make your character more diverse. Cryptic did this for heroes, and the villain powers look like they fit this concept too.
