So I had a friend join tonight. His 1st time playing any MMO! Going to be a slow learning curve for him. Without thinking about it I emailed him 30 million in startup funds...

He replied that he couldn't hold that much and the claim influence window was gone. I got him to check his ID to see how much had transferred.

This sucks.

I've voiced my dislike for all things new CoT more than enough so I'll stay out of that part of the debate.

Concerning clipping.

Let us choose what 'Looks good'! I've made use of clipping more times than I can recall to get just the right look. Actually seeking out pieces that clip in some circumstances, to get armor breaking through cloth etc etc.

I think we've shown time and again that we can utilize the creator to create works of art, the more options the better!

Clouded hasn't seen Havoc.

I like it. Looks to me like they are going with the hi-tech cat burglar approach. She probably won't even call herself Catwoman until the press or Bat's starts it. Like Goliath pointed out, the 'ears' appear to be some sort of HuD that lifts up, giving the catlike appearance and probably leading to her theme. Notice the lack of claws. I'm curious if she will even be a fighter or more of the 'is she bad or just misunderstood' route. Either way, Hathaway is hotness.

Concept can be one you've had forever or just off the top of your head.

I come from a family of dark magician's. When I turned 18 I developed the ability to feel and soothe the pain of others. When I decided to use my powers for Justice I needed a more... offensive ability. Delving into my families library of dark magic I found the answer. I learned the ancient art of Pyromancy and The Mystic Mage was born!

The shop buttons being constantly 'In Your Face' appears to have been the deal breaker for at least one of my friends that shocked me by coming back.

I'd touted up Freedom with them, they expressed only passing interest as time has given them a family etc. So I was shocked to see him on my Global list.
Sent a /Tell and he replied that he was just checking it out to see and didn't want to get me excited. That things seemed smoother in places and more complex in others.
Somehow though, in the ensuing day and a half he got overly fed up with the restrictions, even after buying points.

I think he was tier 3.

Last thing I heard from him concerning it was that he just didn't feel like being slapped over the head by the constant reminders to spend money. If he didn't feel pressured by it, he'd probably get back into the game and end up either resubbing for a period or pumping money into the store every month or so.

We're way past the drawing board though, alas. The 2 biggest issues I have outstanding are with the limited chat options avail to Free and the inability to remove the store and (pointless) reward buttons for Premiums.

I understand why they want it to be like that for non ViP's. I totally endorse it being mandatory for Free accounts. Premiums however should have the option to remove it. They have already proven that they;

A) Know how to access and use the store.
B) Proved they are willing to spend money on the game.

Giving them the option to remove it would go a long way towards retaining the positive image we've had for all these years. An image of putting community 1st.

*Shrug*

Guess we'll see how it pans out. I'm crossing my fingers that it only hampers the enjoyment of a small minority instead of the majority of returnees...

@Beggly - That is an interesting issue. Not sure what to tell you though, maybe contact support and see if they could outright delete the account. Though I wouldn't worry about seeing his toons running around as that has been a very real possibility this whole time. With an account that inactive his names would've been freed up in one of the purges long ago. Still, I can understand your nagging feeling.

@Gorbaz - I'm with you. I've only cancelled once due to money being tight, even then it was only for a month waiting on new job to clear payroll etc.
I've dealt with burnout far more often, usually leading to me not even entering the game for months on end... Thing is, I continue to pay even then, for forum access and to support the game I love!
I have no plans on being anything other than ViP.

I just added the popmenu's for my Bot and Necro MM's. So much better now!!

However, I just noticed something odd, that may be related.

The popmenu button for emotes, on the chat bar, is greyed out and unclickable on all my toons now.

Is this a known issue, bugged for some, or did I mess something up?

I already had the Data folder, probably from vidiotmap, so all I did was add
texts\English\Menus\quickchat.mnu and then I copy pasted the MM menu's I DL'd courtesy of Kheldarn! Worked like a charm. So I'm unsure if it's related or just a bug I missed reading about.

Yeah, if you've spent anytime at other MMO forums I believe you'll have thick enough skin to deal with the few... less reputable... posters among us.

Though, I would avoid the suggestions section. It's a minefield.

As far as her (I think Aquilla is a she) Sig goes, that appears to be a quote from Psychoti from years ago, I just noticed your name capitalized in it and did a double take. :P

I have to point out how funny Aquila's Sig is when taking into context of this thread. :P

Things I would tell a noob?

1. You're standing at the train exit.
2. It's the journey not the destination.
3. Don't pay me back, I do that for all the cool cats, ya dig.
4. You will want to get Stamin... (wait, that's my notes for noobs circa 2006)
5. Homage toons are wonderful, just be sure to avoid outright copying of anything trademarked, as that can get you in trouble.
6. You are not a Healor. You are a buffer/debuffer.
