@Solar and Rajani
Yeah, I can see that minimalistic approach having a some value of it's own, but compared to all the other pet options, it's a radical departure. Why I just went with 'weird' to sum up my response.
That being said, I think I like the small and unobtrusive option for my gadgeteer alt, so I may be working on these.
Thanks for the info all. -
Really? All 3 different types all just look like a Targeting Drone? That is sorta... Weird. Yeah, if that's the case, I surely don't need pics for just that.
No wonder I never noticed them. -
I know it's not solo play, but a well run Hami raid seems to me to be a wealth of Shards in a short amount of time. For the shard gathering process, I'd definitely recommend as many Hami Raids as you can manage.
For solo play all I can do is second all the other fine suggestions that have gone before. Including just not bothering with T4s. T3 and call it done if you're short on time, imho. -
Anyone have, or know where I can see some pics of these pets? I don't think I've seen any in action, or at least if I did I was too busy at the time to take not of what they precisely looked like.

My guess is, over short periods of time, TA/Sonic Def or Sonic/TA Cor. Multi stacked Disruption Arrow, Acid Arrow, Oil Slick Arrow, and a Sonic Attack chain. Of course, it takes time getting multiple Disruption Arrows out, so not sure how that would average out over a protracted time period.

Quote:Signature Story Arcs
- Players must now be confirmed as Heroes or Villains (i.e., their most recent Morality Mission confirmed their alignment) in order to claim Alignment Merits as rewards from Signature Story Arcs
Does this mean that if you are a hero (or villain) and have never done a tip mission at all, you can't claim the alignment merits as a reward? -
Using Oro or the RWZ used to work perfectly, but some time around the last issue, this bug appeared. It happens a lot when using Oro and the RWZ, but as far as I've heard, nobody has had a problem with Pocket D or the Midnighters. I can't guarantee those 2 safe, what with it being an intermittent thing, but I've not encountered it.
Hope that little bit of anecdotal info has some value to someone. -

Quote:I think this is very true. And while it's especially true for the really unloved support sets (FF, Sonic, TA) it's also true of most every support set that doesn't offer SB or a selection of heals. The only set that I think doesn't suffer from this problem as much is Cold, as I think the combo of the very obvious buff graphic, and the word of mouth about it's capabilities, means most people just assume that a Cold that knows how to play the set is worth their team slot...This is the problem that buff and debuff sets have, people don't notice when they're NOT taking damage, because there's next to no feedback about it. There's nothing that says "This attack missed you, thanks to that friendly Bubbler on your team." Where there IS feedback along the lines of "Empath heals you for XXX amount" in the form of easily noticeable little green numbers.
If there's nothing TELLING them that you're being useful, they're more inclined to believe that you're not.
Otherwise, often buffs (other than HP buffs, er, healing and of course, SB and FS) and especially debuffs, just go unnoticed and unappreciated.
I don't know if there is anything that can be done, or even should be, about this. It's just the nature of the support role. -
Quote:Very true. It's near impossible unless you are of a few very specific ATs and powersets to build good quantities of resistance. Especially to anything other that smashing/lethal.I enjoy sonic, but it is massively unloved by most people, which I don't udnerstand, the majority of people build for a softcap, so I can see why FF gets some hate, but not many people are capable of putting themselves at resistance caps, even with sonic putting them halfway.
That said, I have to add that my sonic puts everyone WELL beyond 1/2 way to the cap (obviously except for Psi) and even then a lot of folks aren't capped.. I'd bet every resistance based melee set is capped to all but Psi with me around, tho, even in the lvl 20 range before they have many slots to spend refining their powers. -
Quote:Haven't tried this particular combo, but have done TA combined with AR. Redraw for me was a non issue and I'd expect the same from Beam. Glue and Oil will be nice for keeping groups together to let Disintegration effects spread, I would think. All of the Beam attacks should be able to ignite the Oil Slick, too. Not a lot of mitigation, though. I'd wager it'll be a late bloomer.Seriously, I was sitting there wanting to make my self a Beam Rifle character last night after I got hit with the inspiration for a new toon. I was having a difficult time choosing a secondary though.
My requirements for a secondary were as follows:
1.) Must be all ranged.
2.) Must provide extra AOE damage.
3.) Must fit a tech theme.
My choice came down to Traps or Trick Arrow. I went with Trick Arrow because it would benefit from energy damage of the beam attacks. I also didn't choose Traps because most of the powers require you to get somewhat close or in the middle of the group to get the greatest effect.
Just wondering if anyone else saw this as a potential power combo and what sort of results they are seeing. -

Quote:Don't most of the PVP IO sets only offer the slow resistance in a PVP environment? If so, 3 of the sets are fairly worthless in Tin Mage I think. Or in a KoA instance. It is, but there aren't any cheaper ways I'm aware of to get complete immunity to recharge slows. As Javelin's Volley doesn't cost that much, its not inconceivable to slot them in an alternate build for content that specifically contains ludicrous amounts of -recharge, and I'm thinking specifically of Tin Mage.
Edit: Well, I guess I should have looked at the build 1st. 4 Sets of PVP IOs, true, but all 4 sets are the quite cheap Javelin's Volley. This will work, and by PVP IO build standards, is going to be quite inexpensive. Not sure I'd want to take 3 powers from Leviathan Mastery just to achieve this, but it is impressive. Makes me wonder if any other epic has 3 powes (or even 2) that could slot Jav Volley -
Everyone in Atlas on Exalted seems to be having the exact same issue. I checked an alt that isn't in Atlas, and things seemed fine.
So, maybe if you want in on the fun,and it is sorta fun and interesting, try logging into Exalted and going to Atlas. Me, I'm off for some food and I'll see what's what a little later.
Cheers. -
Quote:You're almost certainly using one of the signature sprints (unless something changed with the patch today). Right click on it, and see if it's called Sprint or something else.
First thing I checked. It's sprint. And the graphics are totally jacked. Blackwand is a Bow. Ninja Run produces an Ouro Portal. Hellions shoot with a broadsword. The list goes on and on. -
I think it's the new update for today. All my powers graphics are wacked... Lightning Field covers me in ice, for example...
-
Has Sprint has the steaks as a visual clue for long. I know some of the signature sprint variants had things like that, but I thought I recalled Sprint not really having a graphic.
Is there a minimal graphic sprint alternative? -

Quote:Huh? What I said was:
I highlighted the specific part you quoted: in context I don't see the problem. It seemed reasonable to me to assume most people would know that if I was talking about survivability for an energy/energy blaster, the most likely power I could have that would directly help survivability that benefits from recharge would be aid self. My Energy/Energy blaster doesn't have any click buffs that help survivability directly, and the only ones she could have are not usually ones people spend a lot of money improving recharge on because they crash - Force of Nature and Surge of Power.
I followed you just fine. And didn't find anything wrong with what you said. As I attempted to clarify above, I just found your turn of phase ironic. It seemed to me that you expected many of your readers to suspect that you may have taken Aid Self. If you didn't expect that, one wonders why you would address Aid Self and not Provoke or any other pool power that you didn't take for that matter.
And that's what I found ironic. Almost everyone's first comment to new players of this game is, "It isn't about the heals. Healzors aren't needed here." or some other variant on that theme, yet a huge percentage of the player bases seems to think that a self heal is almost a necessity, even with green inspirations so plentiful.
Obviously you don't subscribe to this thinking, and I didn't mean to imply you did. I apologize I wasn't very clear initially. -
*sigh*
I didn't think I was that obscure, but I'll try to clarify....
[QUOTE=Fulmens;3907614]Too many responses!
... you're lecturing Arcanaville on the basics?[QUOTE]
No. Not even slightly. Her turn of phrase made it sound as if it was normal to take said power. She didn't choose to. I wouldn't either. I just found it ironic that in a game that so often touts itself as a non healing game that enough people feel the need for a self heal that she would phrase her comment that way, as if she expected that a sizable portion of the readers would expect her to have taken this power. So, I was concurring with her choice, more than anything, and commenting on the irony that was implied.
Quote:I made no comment anywhere that said, or even was intended to hint, at what powers were available to an En/En blaster. But, if I were to comment on En/En blasters, es, the have self buffs available to them. Build Up, Boost Range, Conserve Power, and Power Boost are all self buffs, and all are available to them. You, and others may skip them in your builds, but I can only comment on En/En blasters in general based on what they have available.... you're saying that an En/En blaster has self buffs?
Quote:... you're saying that there's something En/En blasters can do to stay alive that works better than Heal Self?
So, in short, no, in none of the above cases were your guesses on the mark. I do apologize for being unclear. -

Ah. Thanks for the clarification. I"m really sorta behind on the Free accounts and what they have and don't have. I just don't see it being relevant to me, so I've not kep up on the details. I know. I should. It hasn't happened yet, however.

Quote:I admit to being a Beam novice, so I can't for sure comment on Charged Shot's utility.. I think I'd decide based on which offered me the better set bonuses.True but is it worth swapping out Charged Shot for Triage? Between trapping and the other attacks is there enough of an attack chain to drop Charged Shot? I've heard bad things about its dpa.
Quote:True but in this build there are only 2 slots avail for (E/P)PPs -- so to get charged armor and powersink you have to go reside. Blueside it requires a third EPP slot to do that I think.
That said, I can't seem to look at the details of your latest build. The link seems to be broken, and you didn't post a chunk. -
I've seen that message myself. And usually shortly after I enter the trial. Not sure what it is trying to say, but it surely doesn't mean, "forget about this trial."
