I've noticed the damage proc popping from around 16 to 20 on trials, which of course doesn't take into account for any and all -res debuffs that are surely flying. The damage out of Hot feet and Cages is absolutely beastly, and the Lt Escapees that try to run through my Bonfires may not get KB'd, but they do get soundly roasted.

I get lag even at the best of times, so the BAF Choose-Your-Own-Adventure slide show i played last night didn't really throw me too much.
On the plus side, with all this hideous lag, I think maybe a dozen prisoners actually managed to get out the doors, so that phase was easy to ace, and my Lore pets stuck around for like 12 minutes!
And I got a Rare! :-D -
Quote:How on earth do they even measure participation them, especially since what constitutes "participation" varies so wildly across ATs?As for what 'participation' is...
They say it's definitely not
*Damage Points Done
*Healing Points Done
*Randomly Clicking Powers
*Tagging enemies
Also they say leadership is rewarded to some extent because they expect leaders to pause now and then to give direction.
IMHO, the random table should work on a curve, so that, say, 1 piece of Very Rare is always dropped on a 16 Lam team. No more, no less, and if you have gotten a VR drop in the past 48 hours, you cannot get another. 2 Rares, 4 Uncommons, 8 Commons, and 1 thread bundle, the Dunce prize, assuming everyone meets minimum "participation" requirements. Smaller teams are rewarded top-down.
I totally agree with the extra reward for leadership, since that is largely a thankless job. -
Aye, and 8 eager beavers on my team. If one or more of us are not Johnny-on-the-spot in getting our obligatory door click in, we have to wait for the next elevator, even though a nice spaciously one is open right in front of us.
The idea that you can access closed doors but not a door that is currently open is just obnoxious metaphor shear. -
Allow me to click on a door, even if the door is "open." The submarine on the STF, the elevators on the Lambda, the door on every damn train in Paragon City. Waiting for the door to close and my little blue hand to appear is tedious and annoying, especially when a large number of people are trying to use the same door.

Quote:Wow, your stuff blows the Dev's cut scenes away! They should hire you to develop their cut scenes, although i don't know if they could handle all the avante guard techniques you use like music and camera movement*reads the comments, then toddles off to try her hand at a more dramatically appropriate cutscene for the BAF and the Lambda*

Fun Fact: The BAF cutscene is long enough to do a set of reps with a Shake weight! ^_^
I will have Tier 4s and guns of steel by summer! -
I could almost tolerate the trial cut scenes if an iota of love or flair had been put into them. Talking heads stuffed with cheesy dialogue. No action. Telling, instead of showing. if these AVs are so BA and terrifying DEMONSTRATE IT. Show me Mother Mayhem "reprogramming" a Resistance Fighter. Show me Marauder ripping apart the robotic security that just failed him. And pre-render it nicely so it doesn't look like bad fan-made doo doo on Youtube.

YES. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. I hate hate HATE doings RESPECS because I hate hate HATE resetting my trays. I NEVER put stuff back where it really should go, and I never realize that mistake until I get in a fight and start mashing 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 and the "Thing that always happens when I hit 3" doesn't happen. Grrrrr.
Here's some more on my list. Some of these I've been harping on for a while:
1. Another vote to collapse memorized recipes.
2. Please arrange the salvage tray in a way that is non-stupid. Or allow us to. I don't care about base salvage. Bury it at the end. Invention, Incarnate, and Special. Everything else is clutter.
3. English, mother%*#er. Do you speak it?!
Seriously, fire that chimp that hammers out the various snips of copy and text, and ORGANIZE it into something cohesive. Listing a power as granting a "5% STRENGTH to ranged" is ridiculous. "5% DEFENSE to ranged" There, that so hard? Find & Replace.
One power does "Superior" damage, and other does "Extreme" damage. Which is more? Granted, a lot of this subjective crap is leftover from the days when Statesman didn't want us peeking behind the veil.
4. Cut scenes. Stop making cut scenes. You're. Not. Good. At. Them. Either become good, by editing down your overwritten dialogue and adding some actual action, or just abandon them entirely. If it wasn't for the blessed combination of Alt and Tab, I probably would have given up on this game over the terrible BAF cut scene alone.
We get it. Doctor Aeon is a zany screw-up. The Snakessss will rissse. Mother Mayhem got a boob job.
5. End the sexism in the costume creator. I want to make a chick with a cigar and a dude in a schoolgirl tartan (Sailor Beefcake.)
6. A GUI for keybinds. I'm going to keep harping on that one till i get it!
7. If you're going to force me to target through all the damn civilians running around in mayhem missions, at least let me cleave one in half! -
-
I rolled a KM/DA stalker exclusively for doing Praetorian content. She worked pretty well for it, and I've even continued soloing her on blue side.
Regardless of powersets, i would strongly recommend a Stalker over a Brute if you just want to solo content. It is very easy to outlevel content, even solo, and at some point you will probably need to shut off XP. There are a lot of "Defeat this one person" missions, and at least with a Stalker, you can breeze past all the fodder.
Although the mission where you defend the TV station from hordes of Destroyers was... challenging on a stalker. Not impossible. Just challenging. -

Re: the new Trials
The first few I ran with My Fire/Rad, I ate A LOT of floor. A whole lot. I spent more time waiting for the silly hospital doors to unlock than actually battling. Things have gotten considerably easier in the past few days, and I would chalk it up to a few things:
1. The learning curve. What exactly you need to do, the best order and places to do it, and who exactly your are up against.
2. Incarnate powers. Everyone has gotten more powerful. More damage, more buffs.
3. Confidence. Tanks know what they are up against, so they are more willing to take on aggro. With the tanks doing their part, damage dealers feel free to cut loose and uncork some whop-***.
The AVs on the BAF drop so fast, it doesn't even take much coordination to take them both within seconds of each other. The prison break section goes much more smoothly, with everyone really playing to their strengths. Between Bonfire, Fire Cages, and my Imps running down the Lts, I can damn near hold a spawn point solo. I can blast through 2 BAFs in an hour, casually. Yeah, that cut scene sucks, but that's what Alt-Tab is for. -
Three slot Stamina at least. Just for straight up End Mod. The +end proc is a relatively small bonus iirc.
Char and Cinders should both have the Lockdown Chance for Hold proc.
I'd also AM for recharge, not End Mod.
Three slot Hasten for Recharge. Ditto for IW. Both are tough to get perma, and you want both perma. Especially IW.
This thread has some other Frad builds, including mine.

Dark Armor is especially nice for tweaking. I love that you can set the colors of the screamy faces in Cloak of Fear to really make them pop. Energy Blasts and Melee also look pretty sweet with the right colors.
I was playing around with my Fire Blasters colors and got a cool sickly dark green that looked a bit like smeared paint. Sort of like the graphics on the recent Street Fighter.
It's sad when some sets, like Plant Control or Earth Control/Assault/Armor have boring, limited pallets. I really want to recolor Carrion Creepers to look like licorice whips so I can make a Candymancer, or make Earth into "cheese" colors so I can finally make my Earth Dom "Government Cheese" -

I get the best results for Shard drops on Mothership raids. Just spam AoEs, and you will get a chance for shard for every Rikti you so much as lightly graze. Plus you can trade the Merits for G'rai matter, which can be converted to shards as well!
Not sure what its like on your server, but on Virtue, just saying the word "Mothership" is like hearing the ice cream man. Folks come a-runnin'! -
-
You can open the Incarnate window without closing the reward window. That way you can peruse the slots and see what salvage you need for the powers you want.

1. I dont mind the colored player names so much, or at least, the spirit behind it. I hope aren't taking the "Help" title for vanity reasons, even if they don't know much or intend to help others.
2. I got literally YANKED out of one BAF trial to join another last night. No prompt or anything. Very weird. And that second BAF had a surprise restart 30 seconds in.
3. That will get better with time, as people learn the roles. And gain access to more power.
4. Never seen that, myself. Actually, I was wondering if I could get away with role a level 1, run over to the RWZ and join a trial. I can't possibly die any more than I already have been.
5. Agreed.
6. Well, the nice thing is you can still reap lots of XP and drops even if you fail the trial. Success is merely gravy.
7. Agreed. The design is just awful. What a cluttered hot mess!
My 2 cents:
Give Pratorian White a longer list of taunts than just "On the ground again?"
Enough with the damn cut scenes. 2 minutes of talking heads, with Snookie Mayhem and her Skinemax implants, every damn BAF gets really really annoying.
Turn on some damn lights at the BAF, already. I know its supposed to be some sort of daring pre-dawn raid, but fighting hordes of shadowy black blobs is not exactly a sight to behold.
And just one, big fat suggestion to the Devs:
Cut scenes.
If you insist on cramming them in, GET BETTER AT THEM.
Seriously. They are garbage. I cannot emphasize enough how terribly boring, overwritten, and downright lazy that crap is. Talking heads, cycling the same 2 or 3 emotes.
I can watch a thousand better fan-made Co* cut scenes scenes on Youtube. If you insist on breaking the flow with "content" at least make it pleasurable to watch. -
Tried the BAF (once) and Lamda (twice- before crashing) last night with my purped out 50+ Fire/Rad troller. Ate copious amounts of floor on both, but the BAF was definitely more brutal and annoying. Plus I couldn't see a damn thing- is it supposed to be eternally 3 am at the BAF?
Yeah, it DEFINITELY feels grindy. Like the CoH of old. It wiffs of Statesman, to be sure.
My marks:
BAF: C-
Tedious cut scene of talking heads, offset ever so slightly by Mother Mayhem's cleavage. Too dark outside. At least the hospital is in-zone. The door lock nonsense is annoying and unnecessary.
LAMBDA: C+
At least I can see what's going on, and being able to go into the facility switches up the scenery a little. Same notes on the hospital.
LFG tab: B-
I like the idea behind it, but the execution is very wanting. Teams get shoved out under-full, and it seems hard to coordinate and meet up with friends and SG mates. Still, a step in the right direction.
LEAGUE interface: C-
Ugly, with tiny names (maybe my monitor just sucks) and not keeping in the graphic aesthetic of the rest of the game. I feel like I'm trying to read an Excel spreadsheet or read the credits from Problem Solverz.
HELPERS: A-
Great idea to promote one of the greatest strengths of this game- the sense of community and support.
What's really sad is eventually people are going to develop a some cunning tactics that make both trials easier and smoother, and when teams regularly plow through, the Devs will respond by making them harder.
More speed bumps to keep the mice from the cheese. -

Anyone tried this proc is Static Field? Does it fire often enough and supply enough healing to be effective?
