Quote:This. Though I'm happy to see him go if it serves a purpose, if that makes any sense? This is how I feel, exactly. From the first day of gameplay, Statesman was the ultimate symbol for CoH. A role model, sort of like the hero we all look up to and aspire to emulate. While there are so many players who don't care one way or another, I do. Of all the changes this game has gone through, this is the only one I am most against....and saddened by. He is NOT Jack Emmert. He is the leader on which the game is based. I know that this is 'just a game'...I know that 'things' change. But, unlike real life and fate, this is one thing that is controllable. I will never understand why eliminating Statesman seems to be so necessary after seven years. No one can ever replace him for me.
I was an avid reader of super hero comics long before I joined this game. I joined in Issue-2 when my kid began to play, because a friend of his played it. I, personally, avoided MMO's due to the concept of MMO's, and from the addictive nature I heard that spawned from it {evercrack and whatnot}. I wanted to know what he was getting into.
I started with the 'DVD edition' of this game, and was hooked ever since. The generic 'Statesman Sez' from the manual was a factor in the creation of my 'main' and was a personal gude I used afterward in the creation of any new characters after that.
As the 'signature' character of this game since the beginning, this holds a weight to it that cannot be properly ascribed to those that came as a part of it after his entrance into the lore, and ignoring him after. This is a failing on the Dev's part, and I'll leave it at that (I was around when Emmert left, but he's not Statesman- the concept isn't, and didn't have to be, the same) wasn't the justice it deserved for the players.
With all that said, I don't mind that they kill off Statesman, as long as it's fitting for him, and more specifically, what he represents.
There's nothing they can really change between now and Tuesday when I read the story arc to the rest of my SG that will add depth to it. All I can hope is that they do add that depth and that's enjoyable to my SG.
And if they're entertained with the story... I'm happy however it turns out, though I don't think I can ever say I'm 'happy' with his departure. -
Quote:My wife is one hell of a Tank and understands when 'stuff' is happening she's going to have to wait 'til it's over (TF/Trial, etc.). Though I also know not everyone's wife plays the game, and it happens. Even then I still have my few moments of 'nightly wife aggro' that I'll attend to before she goes to bed (since I stay up a little later than her and I might choose that as a time to play the game).as is something along the lines of "wife aggro". It doesn't automatically mean "hey, I know I said I'd help you take care of this, but someone I like better is here, so screw you, I'm leaving right now," unless the character isn't a member of an SG which is plain to see if he's lying or not because SG membership is right under the characters name.
Though as a matter of relevancy I do have to point out, that not every character I have, particularly on servers that don't house my main character's on, is a member of an SG. I have character's on a number of servers just to test stuff, and still, when one of my SG mates hops on, I will switch to run with them. Just because that character isn't a member of an SG doesn't mean the player is, is all I'm sayin'.
EDIT: My wife would never make me quit something I was doing in-game with the 'nightly wife aggro' thing, though I would go AFK for a few moments to see her off to bed. I'd be right back to help finish whatever it was I intended to help with afterward! -
Quote:That... is wonderful, and that's how this entire arc needs to end. Period. This is something I wrote that deals with this issue. I hope you take it in the spirit of intent, rather than some sense of self-aggrandizement but this is about the only way I've managed to make the Well work for me.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=281281
I was going to go on a diatribe about how the newer story arcs give more choices but put more words into your mouth, without the ability to change your mind (the difference between threatening to snap a D.U.S.T. Ranger commander's neck, and actually doing it. Another example would be the villain starting arc with the 'contest'. That, for me, is the most jarring, character wise.
But when it comes to the Incarnates... Everything that the Dev's decide... if it leads to that ending, is justified by this story alone.
Well played and even better written, Scarlet. -
For me at least, yes, they "call". If I'm on a crappy team I don't make excuses, I just say I have to go and wish everyone well.
My SG is a very small and personal group of people I've played with since shortly after joining the game, and we've all become really good friends over the years (some of us know others in person and brought them into the group, but most of us just know each other from the game).
There's also a few in the group that are reserved individuals and really aren't keen on PuG'ing in general given the choice. Not for any anti-social reasons, but more because what time they have to play they want to let their hair down and just be around friends and talk about stuff that either wouldn't interest a random person in team, or wouldn't be comfortable talking about around strangers. Plus, on some nights, some of our conversations and language wouldn't be appropriate for anyone outside the group
I myself have no problem with PuG'ing when nobody's on (it's one of the times I can actually get a good string of trials in) or playing solo, but when SG folks start logging in, unless I'm in the middle of something like a trial or TF, I bow out to run with them. If I'm doing a trial or TF, I leave when it's finished to run with them. It's not a matter of obligation as much as these are the folks I truly enjoy running with.
I hope that answers your question!

Quote:I've wanted that for a long time now, and would LOVE to see it, even have a character I'd use it on the day it came out. That, and someone previously mentioning the mystic, psychedellic "Kirby Crackle" auras... I'd love to see something like that too. Not sure how it'd be implemented but still...I'm not sure if these images I created would even go with what's being discussed here. But I felt that it represents an early era of comics, possibly silver? Idk, I do think of cosmic superhero's from the golden and silver age. If this doesn't look like it goes with this concept set, then move it
I'm just wondering if this is a concept they will be able to create in the near future. Seeing as how fire, ice, and Bioluminescent actually having glowing skin, will they be able to go a step further and be able to design something like above? Star like aura's or skin detail within? -
Quote:I think this encapsulates it for me. Things like the wrinkles and creases on the dress in the up coming Pocket D Pack are exactly what I'm thinking would make a 'spandex' outfit stand out. When I think golden/silver age, I think of cowls and tights that look more like clothing. Very Jack Kirby. The ones we have now look less like clothes and more like simply plastic (or, as someone else noted, like paint).
Actual 'cowl's' (think Adam West Batman) and even a few types of textured ski-mask option (like robbers, or first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics) would be nice. More modern versions would perhaps resemble Luchador masks if you're looking for inspiration?
Thinking of Batman (particularly old comic style) maybe a ribbed cape piece? Something a little more solid than all the other capes we have. Batman isn't the only one to use it, just the most well-known.
JETPACKS!!! But I want those for a number of tech characters so I may be biased. I have no idea what it is with you folks and not wanting us to have jetpack costume pieces... It's so darn fundamental! Plus, I liked the Rocketeer (mmmm Jennifer Connelly)
ALSO (because it's another fundamental thing that's often overlooked)!!!
Expanding on chest icons (and icon placement). Question marks, exclamation points, etc. would be nice. Having a couple of belts with a big spot in the buckle to include what are also chest options would be all golly gee whiz! Having a cape or two like that would also be really swell too!
Animal prints as a pattern started in the golden age for superheroes, it just fell into modern fashion the 80's. Lots of Tarzan/Hollow World style pulp heroes fit into this as well. Not new costume pieces, just patterns that can be overlayed onto already existing (and future pieces).
Last but not least, and this isn't a costume thing, but a filter option. Doing Oroborous missions sometimes have a black and white or sepia tone at the beginning of them. I would be really jazzed to have an option to set where I could make that permanent on a couple characters. Running in Black and white, film grain, or sepia/sepia film grain, or grindhouse film grain, (dunno how possible a 4-color filer would be but that would be AWESOME!!) could do more to make a some characters come alive than any costume option.
These are just a few thoughts. I hope they help! -
Quote:Definitely THIS. That should be a no-brainer for obvious reasons.Bit of feedback if any rednames are reading: would love to see the new elemental and magma swords unlocked as alternate models for flame sword, at larger scale for greater flame sword, and the snow and ice sword as an alternate for the ice versions of these powers.
Pretty please? *insert doe eyed emoticon here*
Plus, no Axe or Titanic Weapon versions? -
Quote:Let them take their time.Well, Celestial pieces are still there, so I'm guessing it may be there a bit longer than the original plan of 3 months. Now, of course, you still have several tokens to go, but who knows how things will take shape in the future.
I have points squirreled away from both vet and purchased points, but many folks don't. I'm really not fond of the idea of folks 'missing out' because they weren't lucky enough or had the disposable cash at the 'right time' to get the costume things they wanted (or whatever else they give the tier 9's) because they decided to rotate them out for something new.
The idea is the Celestial set is alternated out, for now. If that meant "At the time it was listed it was exclusive to T-9's and now that it's rotated out, we might sell it for cash in the market!" that'd be GREAT! in my opinion. If that means "We rotated it out, and will be available to T-9's exclusively at some point again in the future"... well that frankly sucks.
Again, I have all of them currently, with more rewards to spare on my account. This isn't a point of jealousy, it's a point of wanting folks to see their desires and concepts brought to life in game (the new stuff really brought a lot to my SS/Fire Brute's look that I wanted from the beginning). The idea of some of my SG mates missing out on the Celestial, or the new set, because they either didn't pay fast enough or weren't subbed long enough before it got rotated out just irks me in ways I can't properly describe.
tl;dr Exclusivity sucks. Shut up and let us, let you (reasonably), take our money! -
Quote:I think (though I could be wrong) that he's referring more to how we are being portrayed in rise to power, rather than actual power itself. Their presentation so far doesn't always portray in many minds that feeling of 'near godhood' that might be expected of what has been achieved. No matter how it's packaged, getting hurt by rocks thrown by civillians doesn't give the impression of 'godlike power' one would expect from Incarnate content.Originally Posted by HopelingI hope so. I have not played through the TPN trial yet, but look forward to when I have the time and inclination. I think the trials on a limited basis, for me, are entertaining, but I have to agree that they don't always present feeling like I'm awesomely powerful. Sometimes quite the opposite.
Quote:Originally Posted by LegionAlphaI have stopped hoping any of my heroes/villains ever become cosmic beings like Silver Surfer or Mr. Mxyzptlk because it will take the challenge out of any older content.
However, I think if the Incarnate content had us fighting threats that gave us the perception of the level of Mr. Mxyzptlk or Silver Surfer instead of J_B's 'civillain rocks' and 'moldy robots' the Incarnate Trials might produce a better presentation of the level of power we've achieved. This is, of course, my opinion. -
Quote:Exactly this, in the final analysis. This is, by far, not perfect, but it's not a wounded gazelle on the Serengeti some folks would like to think. It's alive and well and enjoyed by a fair market share in the MMO industry... especially within its niche.A sequel to CoH, even if it did magically meet my "except for" list, would probably not be one I'd leave this game to play, at least not until a few years after its release. Sure, the new game would have those "except for" features, but it would severely lack "polish", as all new MMOs do. If Paragon decides they want to do the amount of work it would take to create a new game, I'd rather it be used to improve the already-working game we have than create a new game which would inevitably have its own set of problems.
It's better than a lot of the current competition, and suggesting they scrap what they have and start over is just silly in this age of instant gratification/condemnation upon anything 'new'. Much less, a sequel.
Barter for a new engine if you like, or a system you don't currently care for. I would wager such things will fall upons more interested ears than wanting a sequel to this game.
I fully admit, I could be wrong, but I wouldn't speak as confidently as I do if I didn't feel otherwise. -
Quote:Don't use this as an example... this, too, has fell woefully short. We've gotten better through the years, but I'd like to see focus on story-telling throughout the game, perhaps with a system similar to SWTOR.
When you find a runaway, after their parents have told you to find them since they're involved in drugs and other terrible acts, they admit to you they can't confront their past so tell their parents they're dead... if you let them leave planet and tell their parents they died, you're a hero, if you make them face justice and their responsibilities, taking them home, you're a villain???
If you run into town with a stolen shipment of medicine, following the suspects out of the town, and their reason was to help their young... but it was stolen by raiders. You go out and retrive the medicine from the raiders. You can't sell it, but if you return it to the group that stole it initially, you're a hero. If you return it to those that it was stolen from, you're a villian.
Yeah, I want to see those kinds of moral choices in my game being definitive of my playstyle of a superhero game...
Better yet, I can go back to Text Adventure games where I have to figure out what the author means is the correct answer or suffer...
All I'm saying here, is don't sell the new as better... it's not. -
Quote:Something I wish they'd considered long before, was different salvage for each recipe dependent upon the Origin that was viewing it at the time. That would diversify the 'need' enough that everything would fit.Yeah, I've never liked the way salvage is handled. I think it's senselessly diverse and specific. If I had my druthers it would at least be condensed down to six pieces - generic Arcane or Tech salvage of each rarity tier.
What does my Tech character need with a "Luck Charm" in the 10-25 range? What does my Magic character give a damn for a "Scientific Theory" in the 30-40 Range? Yet because of the limitations of the system, they clamor and pay top dollar for each.
Oh, I have a level 30 Accuracy recipe. Alchemical Silver's are expensive if I wanted to craft it on my Magic Origin, but I'll send it to my Science Character. She only needs some Dangerous Chemicals and an Innovative Code to craft that Accuracy. And thus ends the excusivity and ease of cornering on certain items. At least without more effort...
The reqirements for each recipe should have been reflected on those it dropped (or were sent to) for the purposes of crafting.
This, in turn, would have a profound effect on the market and how it has been played since its introduction. Cornering or price-gouging would have reqired more footwork and effort than currently produced, as well as providing a more 'sensible' system around each character's design/desire to pursue needs.
Would it have 'fixed' everything? No. But it would have added another of level to the game to play for those with interest, and anther avenue to explore with those with no cash or desire to 'play the game'. They'd just buy the cheapest things and construct as necessary. win/win if you ask me. -
This.
Every so often, over the years, these threads pop up. I would think CoH 2 might turn out prettier (or might not based on other 'upgraded' games that could have been a sequel), but I can't imagine it wouldn't come anything close to what we have here, and I doubt it would be given the ammount of time it would need to get up to pace with this game before it crashed and burned.
Do you honestly think any new game, sequel to this or no even with the Dev's we have working on it, could have remotely the same ammount of systems, content, features, etc. that this one currently has?
What I would like to see is what they've been doing at about as fast a pace as I could expect. Complete overhauls of things that are dated or need work. I'm willing to bet some things seem to have been untouched for so long because small fixes just won't do the trick. I bet there will be a major base overhaul, but doing so without losing what we have in the new system is taking a lot of time to logistic out. I'm sure they'll even get back to PvP after they have a working model that they think will satisfy as many folks as they can, and get the guts up to deal with the abuse they'd get through the process...
And in all cases, when they have time. They still need to develop the new stuff too so the folks with ADD feel like progress is being made (Sure they revamped Atlas, added phasing tech and a cohesive story arc, even updated the Circle of Thorns... but seriously, when are we getting something NEW??)
Plus, and most importantly to me, if they did make a CoH 2 and I'd have to start over after all the years of progress and time I put into this game since Issue Two? Forget it. -
Interesting, I've been wondering that myself. Having run FW through with my namesake now, I'll have to have another chat with him. Thanks for the head's up!

Dunno about in game but I'm almost positive it's mentioned in the comics they made (though the other aspects are not). What IS illustrated is how similar Miss Liberty is compared to Dominatrix, since her and the Vindicators have to look after ol' Dommie for a while on Statesman's behalf...

Quote:I hope you and yours, and everyone else, had a great holiday. Part of my new-year's resolution is to be more involved in the community and where the game goes with my feedback (I don't know how that's going to work out but being here as long as I (and the SG I am with but hardly ever posts) have I should speak up more, from time to time).Hey guys,
We're back in the studio and working hard (I promise!). That being said, things may be quiet for the first week or so as we're getting back in the groove of things. Don't worry, we're not sleeping, we're just buried in documentation! (12 month Community plan won't write itself...no matter how hard I will it to)
Aside from that, hope everyone had a great holiday, got everything they asked for, ate lots of good food and broke at least 1 of there resolutions by now. As for me, we bought tons of Legos, you know, for the kids, and we spent tons of time putting them all together...you know...for the kids.
Their birthday is coming up and something tells me they'll be getting that giant Lego train and City set...
What?

Hope that doesn't give you any headaches

Quote:I kind of have to agree with this. This applies to old TV shows and movies too. Some of the beautiful special effects associated with them was due to the more 'grainy' or less developed video content at the time, and was taken into account.I think an issue with a lot of older anime is that it was drawn on cels, and those cels may no longer be around. Even if, I'm not sure if the cels were really that much higher resolution than the final product, but that's out of my area of expertise.
Personally, I didn't think the Yu Yu Hakusho clip above looked much better in HD than in SD. It looked a little bit recolored, but the actual resolution didn't look like it was any sharper than previously. A section that particularly stood out to me was the rose spinning, with petals separating. That looked ... I don't want to say pixelated, but I can't think of a better term, in both SD & HD. Additionally, a lot of those are action sequences, where it's harder to see a difference in resolution because of the blur of movement.
Depending on the source material, I imagine there's only so much you can do.
Just my 2c ;-).
~Freitag
This falls into the same debate from over a decade ago about colorization of old black and white films. I saw a black and white version (though HD restored) version of "It's a Wonderful Life" over the holidays. The restoration sharpened the image, but in return made it look, for lack of a better term, fake.
I also imagine the digitized look of anime imported over to HD or Blu Ray devices carry the same results as Freitag pointed out. Some can look more spectacular, some can come off looking really... bad.
Much like the colorization debate (that I remember well) I suppose it really depends upon the source and how/why it should be done.
Some were meant to be silent films or black and white, and should never be changed because it would destroy the story the way it was intended. Others should be updated because the technology to tell the story properly at the time didn't exist. In either case, the original as-created should be made available as well for the purist who gets something out of it the futurist cannot appreciate.
That... is my 2c -
Quote:I have no problems with the market, all it takes is a little patience. I don't game it at all, and often delete stacks of salvage and/or recipies in my inventory just because it's annoying when It's full and I don't want to mess with selling them. I yet to have over a billion on any character, ever, but I generally can get what I want given time and being smart about it.Yeah, what I find weird is that it seems the people who complain about the market are the ones looking to game it. The ones who just want to buy, sell, and be done are happy with it.
You get one salvage that sells for 1 million and you are set. You will never run out of influence buying SO's again, maybe if you dual build.
Plus I tend to hoard stuff because I know I'll probably need it eventually on one of my alts. That doesn't hurt either
I really wish those storage upgrades weren't so darned expensive though. Still haven't bought any, but am so tempted sometimes... -
Quote:Oh I don't disagree with you there. The actual sell history is a great idea but only going to 5 is, as Venture pointed out, is almost worse because it's so manipulatable.I am not saying the 'last 5' method is perfect. In fact I think showing only the last 5 is a poor limitation. I am saying the concept of showing what prices people have been willing to buy at, ie any selling history at all is more useful than the concept of showing what prices people want to sell for. Irrespective of any other characteristic of the market, that is a plus in its favor. An ideal system would have a mix of both, but in a 1 to 1 comparison selling history comes ahead of in-stock prices. Admittedly, it's a plus in its favor for sellers, not necessarily buyers, so I suppose one's mileage may vary.
The problem, I imagine, with allowing a longer history would be an exponentially impossible ammount of weight upon the databases trying to keep track of every single item on the market. So standard code rant aside, I bet there's no easy answer to that.
Edit: Also when it comes to other markets, my MMO experience is rather limited. This one (long time player though). Another that has no auction/market system that I can compare with, and another I only started playing a few months ago causually on the side and haven't even looked at the market there. That said, my basis of comparison with other MMO auction/markets is limited. -
I think Recluse has taken a backseat unnescesarily to the current Incarnate content. I think he deservers a response. It's even been implied in the Praetorian content. The same could be said for those agents still loyal to Emperor Cole (level 30+) and in the Incarnate content (why can't we get some of that power of the Well to help him?)
That aside, in addition to that, there needs to be progression to current groups, and as Samuel_Tow has pointed out in another thread the current story and background should be expanded upon through the level ranges to lead up to what we currently know/act on in the upper levels. Including, as others have posited on other threads, our origins (Magic, Science, etc) through those levels.
Why did the Oranbegans change their look? Did they find a new armory or way of creating armor for themseleves? How do the Mu respond? More imporantly, do the Mu find the strength to break away (counting the Rouge Arachnos and others) to form another group of powerful mystics away from Arachnos in the later levels, due to their seemingly weak and indecisive leadership (the Scirocco Patron arc)?
What about the storyline beyond the Vanguard vs. the Traditionalist and Loyalist Rikti?
What about the Progression and possible meeting/conflict with the Primal and Praetorian Hamidon? (That might go somewhere...).
Now that we know about the Knives of Artemis and Malta through high level hero and villain contacts, what now? Are Crimson and Viridian all we have that stand between them and us?
etc, etc, etc. More can be developed and built upon, from the 5th Column/Council battles for power to the Rularuu and newly introduced Rulu-Shin, to the Midnighters or even the little heard of Legacy Chain. What about Longbow? What can we do as Vigilantes to help the Rogue Isles, or help Arachnos (or other villain groups) bring Paragon to its knees as Rogues?
I'd like to see these things expanded upon before introducing new things, or more specifically introduce new things to expand upon the already rich lore this world contains -
Quote:The "Well friend... you are wrong!" is a catch phrase from somewhere else I was borrowing from another source because I thought it was funny, and meant nothing demeaning by it. On the other hand, the point I was making about some particular items being easily manipulatable within that history, still stands.Sure, whatever you say, 'friend'.
I only said it's far more useful than seeing only what the sellers want you to pay. I stand by that.
There are numerous things you can get a considerable more inf for (or pay considerably less for) if you are patient, vs. what you may see regulary in the 'purchase' history. That was all I was saying. Stand by it all you want, but when I buy (regular) purples or rares, for less than hundreds of thousands of inf less than what's normally listed in the last five purchases- or sell for that ammount after I've paid far less, I'll laugh all the way to the bank you proclaim to 'stand by', because I'm willing to wait a while to buy or sell it based on that information. Again, I say this not as an 'ebil marketeer' who has made billions on the market (never had a character with a billion on it, much less seeking ways to pass it off on other characters to make room past 2 bil.) I'm not that patient or cutthroat, because I just want to enjoy my time online instead of making a mini-game of [pancaking] other players, or getting [pancaked] myself. My most profitable character has just recently surpased half a billion.
I'm really, truly, trying to be instructive here, not mean. However, I'm not going to spell it out for you either if you can't figure out what I was just explaining. -
That said.
There are two sides to this argument that are not as mutually exclusive as currently presented. Niether however, are relevant to Incarnate content because they deal with exemplaring to lower levels and are a different debate entirely.
Incarnate content, by its nature, assumes the character is as powerful as they can get in all ranges of large team/small team/solo content.
Creating a proper (relative) challenge in smaller team content can be as easy as 'needing' different, more specific, incarnate powers, used over the course of a Task Force. I'll use Destiny as an example here in this particular example (There could be one for each or a combination thereof however specialtized per Incarnate power would work best per 'contact/TF'...)
There's an AV that 'needs' Barrier to survive its Alpha Strike that could cause the team to wipe and the mission to fail, but then there's an AV later in the same mission that 'needs' Clarion to resist the Alpha Strike hold they cast to prevent a team wipe, causing the mission to fail. At the end of each small team mission they gain an Incarnate component (common ones in the first 1-2 missions, Uncommon in 3-4, Rare OR Very Rare in the 5th mission of the arc) Set them up as TF's so there's no chance of changing characters as needed.
Supplying the same rewards to the solo arcs (Howerver, setting them up like the enforced solo missions in Praetoria) Each mission would require a particular Incarnate power to survive each mission that is mutually exclusive from another (Now I'll use Lore as an example) You 'need' to have Seers to breach the seer network in one mission. Next mission you will need Rularuu to get past the Rulu-Shin cult (they'll attack you otherwise) to complete it successfully.
In other words have different contacts reqire multiple in any particular Incarnate power to succeed. One mission apiece for small team content (with those 'bosses' along the way) or in each mission, for solo.
They could even be set to make them possible without those options (with some other 'easy' contacts for folks that don't want to collect all the pokemon for faster, better rewards, or are Incarnates just starting out- make sure they're specially marked!!! they only give commons at the end of their entire arc, assuming they've unlocked the slot, then they just get a special ammount of Incarnate xp!!!)
Replace 'team effort' with 'as long as they have time to prepare' of the Batman mentality, and you have a winning combo. If someone has enough of the basic nescessities (and spends the time) to fit a small or solo story arc with these guidelines, let them do it!!
There are ways to create challenge even in solo content. I can run x mission solo today, but now I know I need n to complete the next one, I might be better served running a couple small team/ large team missions to prepare for it.
Or... I spend a more time (days, or weeks for a whole "Advanced" solo story arc) wading in the incarnate kiddy pool getting what I need in any given incarnate power, I'll be able to get all I need!
Does that 'do it' for ya? -
Quote:But only on the last 5 purchases, which is easily manipulatable, and I don't even play the market, have a single character that has ever earned or had to be concerned with carrying more than 2billion inf personally, or anything of the sort. I'm not a market player nor care to be... I am (generally) a patient one though. The AH could be a lot better, but at least it tells you for what prices things have been selling, rather than what the in-stock prices are. If the only data you have is what the sellers want for their goods, you have no easy way to know if that's the moving price or if those are the expensive leftovers nobody will buy. You can't work well on that info alone. Telling you the prices people have been buying at is vastly more useful.
If you think those last 5 sales is some kind of true indicator or safety net on some particular items, then well my friend... you are wrong!
