    Quantum flight

    [ QUOTE ]
Exactly the same as 3 slotted fly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In other words, pretty damn poor considering the huge endurance drain. Defensively it's a nice panic button but forget about using it as a travel power.
  2. Have fun

Remember to bring us back a stick of rock

Hehe had forgotten the ED-perma-moaning blaster?... Ur only 50... altoholic!

pfft, if my snipe did any decent damage I'd aim it at you

2 Accs is a tad excessive when you have TD, IMO.

On the other hand, Targetting Drone does seem to need a hand these days. Used it last night against a cavefull of +1 and even level rularuu. With one accuracy in each attack plus the drone running I missed often enough for it to be very er interesting...spent almost as much time going backwards as I did attacking.

    Heists: Ouch!

My way of dealing with this is to watch out for the message the guards give you before they approach. They always say something like "protect the vault" or "stop Zura".

Then I watch the corridor. When they approach, I set my pets on one and immediately target the other one and hide behind the wall.

When the pets have dealt with the one they are attacking (watch the messages), I set them on the other mob which I still have targetted.

If you deal with one group at a time it'll be a lot easier to handle than just taking the door down immediately and waiting for them all to come at once.

Clear the rest of the place before entering the vault room. If you watch what happens in the vault room, the moment you step up to the vault door, you get a spawn of mobs after you. Deal with that spawn first. Step up to door again, you'll get another spawn (usually) so deal with them. Then you'll get another spawn when you take the door down and a few more after you've grabbed the loot.
  6. Thing that I don't like on my kheldians is that power that increass density (can't remember what it's called now). In nova form it makes control quite difficult. After many levels of smoothly gliding to a controlled stop it's tough to get used to stopping instantly with that buff active.

I don't complain when it's done though, people don't generally remember that one character in the team doesn't want it and they're trying to help...

He can, but he'll still be a bad player and as such not wlecome on any of my teams. A GOOD player would have known which of their powers were needed the most at any given time.

Course this only comes with practice and friendly advice from others who know.

Dunno if people see me as useful on my empath, she's still at a relatively low level. I heal when necessary, rez when necessary (and possible), use RA when it's ready (unless everybody's standing around yakking - yes, I've wasted it like that before) and look for the best character to stick Fortitude on.

Fortitude being the only real 'decision' that has to be made...who gets it. It doesn't recharge fast enough to keep more than two constantly buffed.

My rule of thumb (and nobody's complained yet) is to look for any SK'd characters first for fortitude, if none see if there's a blaster, if not then look for scrappers and tanks. Of course if the tank is having problems then that AT gets it first on the assumption that if the tank goes down we're all in trouble.

Am I not allowed to call a bad player a bad player anymore?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nooo, you have to call them 'Players with teaming difficulties' these days.
  8. Yikes, my only 50 isn't on there.

    Calamity AR/Devices blaster
  9. *sigh* Fingers crossed for a speedy resolution. Must be damned annoying. Hope to see you back soon...
  10. In CoH you can just about get away without superjump, teleport or fly but you'd need to be very careful in Boomtown and stay out of the shadow shards.

In CoV, you *need* one of those just to get around. They've made far more really high walls and thick groups of trees and such things then we see in CoH. Personally I like superspeed combined with superjump. I usually get superspeed first because I'm addicted to hasten but I sometimes go the fly route if it suits my character better. Up to you really, if you use fly you'll probably be the last to arrive every time but it's a far more relaxing way to travel...

    Photon Seekers

    [ QUOTE ]
    Hmmm.. I have to ask...

How often, when fired from point blank, do you find them not working as intended? Is it frequent enough that you can't really count on them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They're very hit and miss. I've seen them explode on a target almost instantly while other times they seem to take one look at the mobs around you and promptly decide to run off elsewhere. Think they hit more often than not if you release them right next to a target but you can't rely on them.

IMO not being able to do a mission because the npcs stalking the entrance can kill you quicker than you can summon adequate pets to defend yourself, is not balancing.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, that's exactly what it is. MM's are very powerful but the power comes with the price of having to prepare for the fights beforehand.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well yes but how can you prepare for a fight when it hits you in the face the second you step in the door. MM's have no self buffs, we can't survive an onslaught for long enough to get pets raised and actually interested in doing anything.

To make it even worse, the second we die, so do our pets so we can't even enter the mission, raise pets and let them do something useful while we watch from the ground.

The only way I have found around this problem is to get a team together and send them in first or simply get another mission and come back to the one that's causing the problem at a later date.

I liken this to the problems low level kheldians have with void stalkers. It's a rather large hammer to crack a balancing nut
  13. Hmm, well some people may not start conversations because they are naturally reserved and rather shy. I include myself in that category. Hell would freeze over before I'd initiate a conversation with someone let alone send out a team invite - or even ask for one.

It's not meant to be rude or anything like that, it's really tough to get out of that mindset once it's been a part of your life for so long.

Sorry for picking your brains again, but...

If you had to choose one of the following for an L35 AR/Dev power, what would you pick?

    - Time Bomb
    - Hasten
    - Beanbag
    - Acrobatics

    [/ QUOTE ]

Timebomb is very difficult to use effectively, it goes off a fixed time after you drop it. You need a lot of luck and a lot of skill (in knowing what the mobs are likely to do) to actually catch anything in its blast...unless you want to walk up to a group of mobs and drop it at their feet (!)

Hasten is still useful but can't be run perma any more. Now that we have slots free for things other than damage, most people use a couple of recharge enhancements in attacks. I have hasten and still activate it sometimes. Doesn't seem to achieve a lot these days though even with just one recharge in each attack.

Beanbag I would have taken a lot earlier, it's invaluable for stunning those difficult mobs that insist on fighting back. I wouldn't be without it on my ar/dev blaster.

Acrobatics, hmm, dunno really. I had it, it did little useful that I could see, others swear by it though. Can't comment on something I haven't used for ages.

Bit of a toss up between acrobatics and beanbag I'd say. Personally I'd go for beanbag but if you keep getting hit a lot and stunned it may be worth considering acrobatics.
  15. heh, that was fun, in spite of the debt my MM gained. She's a bit dazed, not used to dying, she has pets to do that for her. Another bit of shiny stuff to add to the collection...thanks for the invite
  16. oops, just seen the title, I don't PvP so post removed......
  17. Thing I dislike about mines isn't only that things can walk by them without them going off but even when they do go off they frequently miss the things standing right on top of them. Looks like two hit checks there...

When they do hit, they do some very decent damage. Pity it takes so long to lay a few though, even with recharge SO's and hasten teams usually gets fed up and charge in before the third mine is down.
  18. You have to be more careful with full auto than you used to. Was a great power, ED and I6 reduced its effectiveness dramatically. Could wipe the floor with huge groups of mobs.

It's still useful for finishing off a group of mobs or weakening them significantly IF someone else has the aggro. If you start a fight with full auto now or use it too early in a fight you'll probably get very thoroughly beaten up...
  19. [ QUOTE ]
My first instinct is to go for MMs, I find they're easier to take down, with the lowest HP of ALL archtypes in the game. Brutes come second with droppable toggles, I avoid Stalkers to my best ability.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My MM is a dream in PvE, fastest levelling character I have ever had. Easy to take on multiple bosses at ridiculous difficuty levels. Mobs just aren't very intelligent and almost always go for the pets.

In PvP any opponent would go straight for the MM and ignore the pets. Since they are so weak with zero defence and one very weak self heal that is targetted I honestly can't see any point in taking a MM into a PvP zone. It's likely to be little more than an exercise in futility.

No doubt someone will be along soon to tell me I'm wrong
  20. I was lucky enough to get my AR/Devices blaster to 50 just before ED hit. The effect was way over the top and reduced her to a piece of sandpaper - she just wears the mobs down with weak attack after weak attack. One good thing I guess is that she doesn't do enough damage to aggro anything now unless she opens the fight with flamethrower or something.

She only comes out to play if a sg team needs an additional slot filled. She no longer earns her place on a team as an effective damage dealer. It's sad really but there you go. 5 respecs later and she's just about an acceptable team member but certainly not worthy of being a first choice for a slot. Certainly not on a par with any other type of blaster, in PvE that is, don't know about PvP.

And in better news, I'm back baby! You thought you'd got rid of me, but alas, it was not to be!

    woot welcome back
  22. Yikes, that's bad news. Hurry up and get back. We'll line up some mobs for you to take your frustration out on when you return
