    Carni go bye bye

Aww, sorry to see you're not enjoying it any more. I've been there though and always come back. Think I've quit for good at least three times now

It's been a pleasure teaming with you in the game. Remember we'll probably all still be here when you come back

    Congratulations on the mini-Carni

Build Up + Dawn Strike is not a suicide gambit when you can pop a blue and switch to Dwarf to take the aggro... You also get a 3rd heal in Dwarf form... my PB has better healing ability than my Regen Scrapper!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That can be useful but it's worth remembering that the human-dwarf animation takes a week and in that time you're still a fragile human. My PB has been dropped while changing to dwarf on a number of occasions. You'll also drop back to human if you run out of endurance.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
oh yeah! kheldans dont have access to the Flight or Teleport power pools, so a pb with recall friend is a no go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah and what a pain in the neck that is. A silly decision in my opinion. Something that would really be useful to a PB is the ability to recall teammates. The ability to fly to a target and tp the rest in at low levsls is a massive time/life saver. Easpecially in places like hollows whare you're very likely to have to run past huge mobs of trolls and CoT twice your level.

The trick to slotting is taking what you need rather than what would be nice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought this whole archetype was for having fun going thru the game a second time..And being encouraged to teaming.. And I think restrictions in slotting severely hamper my ability in having fun with the character. I'm currently trying to figure out a build for my own PB.. Every time I look at it in the builder I jsut get angry because it doesnt have any AT-defining powers.. Nothing I'd be excited looking forward to..

After 15-odd months my PB is still only lvl 25.

I still think PBs need love from devs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. I got my PB to 50 with a lot of help from the SG. To be honest it wasn't much fun. I started off well enough with a bit of excitement, wondering what this wonderful epic AT had in store. That excitement was very quickly quenched. The Kheldians are weaker than the other AT's, they have just more options but, to avoid them being too strong overall (since they can blast, scrap and tank), they are not really very good at any of them.

They've been given a few little tidbits to make them different, shape changing and flight or teleport (for warshades) at level 1. Apart from that, they're way below average in my opinion.

Personally I wouldn't create another Kheldian, there's too little reward for the extra difficulty in levelling the things. In fact, the reward for playing this AT is a very special enemy that can one-shot it at ridiculous range - until your kheldian reaches higher levels those void stalkers are a real menace.
  5. hmm I have a fire/rad controller in the mid 20's on Defiant. Already in a sg but if you have a slot to fill around that level any time, she's always up for some fun and frolics
  6. Bear in mind BS is very slow as well as an endurance hog. At some stage you'll probably want hasten as well, that won't do your endurance usage any good so you'll most probably need stamina to go with it. Very nice damage output but the tardy recharge and endurance usage is hard to live with - for me anyway...

Mine is a regen scrapper with stamina and she stills runs out in very long fights. She has no endurance reduction slotted in individual powers. To be fair though, it has to be a very long fight and those are quite rare for a scrapper.
  7. You join a team and the lead is instantly transferred to you. You're the best one to lead the team because you have a lvl 50, right?

FWIW - I hate it when that happens!

    AR/Dev Tips?

I've never seriously used time bomb, just get along with mines and caltops. others have had great success with the time bomb though so I'd say its definately worth a try. You can always respec to get rid of it if you don't like it.

Snipe is great, you'll want that as soon as possible. Snipe from a long way away, then finish them off with your other ranged attacks as they get closer. It's not as fantastic as it used to be but we have to make do with what we're given. Every blaster should have a snipe of some sort.

I love ignite, if you can get a mob hold (by a controller or defender or one of your own holds/stuns), few can resist the fire for long.

I like fly personally, you can hover out of reach of melee mobs and it looks so impressive if your toons concept allows for wings Slower than SS. SJ is probably the best overall travel power for speed and access to awkward places.

Someone mentioned auto-turret. Don't waste your time with it, it used to be slightly useful when you could teleport it about but now it's a stationary pet with poor damage, poor life and indifferent accuracy. Complete waste of space now it can't be tp'd.

AR/Dev is soloable, won't be easy going against some of the more annoying mobs out there. To be honest, I don't find this a lot of fun solo, teaming is the way to go if you can get a good team together.

Most important thing is to have fun and expect to get face planted occasionally, you have little health and there are lots of mobs out there that will take offence at you shooting at them

    grats on 50 fen

Aww I missed it. Congratulations though, great achievement

Actually, I dont care if someone wants to make a 'nude' costume per se, its some of the names (and occasionally stories) that I tend to be annoyed about more.

I have 2 characters that I suppose fall into the minimal category..
Black Maria is actually completely covered, its just that the cover is a very thin, completely black layer of negative energy. rather difficult to show as anything other than matt black all over.

Steel demon IS naked (well, apart from some chains and other fun accesories!) because, well, she IS a demoness... thats how she was brought up.

So as long as there is a sensible (or funny!) reason for why the character does what they do, it doesn't worry me. My only objection to nude characters is justification (so it makes sense to me...)

    [/ QUOTE ]

hehe Luna Wisp has one completely nude costume slot. She's been 'granted' angelic status and has wings to prove it! You can't see anything though because she has a full white all body glow that turns her into a white dot. her other costumes are more suitable for a family show

If I run into a semi naked female toon with a hook for a hand, robot legs and an exposed brain I sigh and move on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I'd have a check for a bio. If there is one there and it's well written, I'd probably appreciate it more, than if they had no background whatsoever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I vote for more storage space for bio's...can't write a good long one in the little space given

    Grats to Jygsaw

Congratulations on that 50 Was good to be with you both when you got there

Have to get some other toons out of the closet now
  13. Well done, great achievement

    What's next?

    Thugs

    [ QUOTE ]
Yup, the clipping was a bug and in trying to fix that one, they've encountered a new bug. I hope they fix it soon, I like my thugs looking cool swinging trenchies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't bother me what they look like to be honest. They rarely last long enough to be admired. As long as they get the job done...hey I've made it - don't care about my minions, a real villianous mastermind at last
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Those little Munkies are like 3 psycho scrappers and theres no telling em.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just wait till Monkey Mayhem gsts her pets, there'll be four little psycho scrappers in there
  16. Not really, happens to me as well, even in experienced teams. A lot of people seem to get the old red mist descend when in battle and they just swipe at the first thing that appears as a target. Unless you have people using AoE's, you could try selecting a minion instead of the boss, it'll probably last just as long as the whole team and its dog concentrates on the boss

Thinking about it, there could be a possibility that they think you're only debufing the one with the big noxious cloud at it's feet and that's why they concentrate on it - or could just be bad luck
  17. I'd agree with dropping with drop time on the turret. have you seen how quickly the malta engineers can drop a turret. Can't be more than two seconds at the most. That's less than a third of the time it takes my blaster to do the same. Not that the turret's a hell of a lot of use anyway.
  18. My best moment as a scrapper was when I realised I could take on a group of four orange paragon protectors and survive to win through. First character I've ever managed to do that on. I've never looked back. Till that moment I'd been playing it carefully, like my blaster

I just jump right in now...real scrapper stuff
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Actually it seems to me like triform is more suited for soloing, and human/biform is more fitted for teaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mine was great as tri-form until I hit the 40's. Almost every attack from mobs at that sort of level knocks you straight out of nova form. Scooting round a corner (my own fault I know) into a group of -4 (yes -4!) Malta including one sapper and one engineer saw me knocked out of the sky by the engineer who zapped me, stunned me instantly. The sapper then stole all my endurance and the perma holds from that engineer (being reapplied faster than they wore off) meant the rest (all two of them) could take their time beating me to a pulp.

Frankly being wiped out so easily by a group of 4 -4 minions is just ridiculous. The total lack of any defence against anything in nova form is a nightmare at that level. What's the point being able to do massive damage to the mobs if you don't have time to get more than one attack off before you've been stunned or put to sleep?

Anyway, enough of that, it's starting to sound like I'm complaining that my epic AT isn't quite as epic as I'd hoped...it is fun to play for me again so hopefully the next 3 levels won't take as long as the last 7
  20. Got my tri-form PB to level 47 then I had to give up on the idea. I respecced, she now fights in human form with dwarf for those dodgy situations. I kept nova form but it's only really because I like to switch occasionally - probably wasted a chance to get a better power there but what the hell. Now I've respeced her into more of a scrapper, she's suddenly fun to play again.

As far as I'm concerned, there just aren't enough slots available to be really effective in all three forms all the time. The choice as I saw it was to be really effective with two forms or mediocre with 3. I chose two and I'm no longer wondering why on earth I rolled a Kheldian

On the other hand, others have been very successsful with tri-form builds, I suspect they probably spend more time in teams than I do, Kheldians benefit greatly from teaming. I like toons that can solo because I sometimes just don't feel like teaming and I still want to be able to choose any toon to play.

bombs and mines - did somebody say DPS very slowly? and by slwoly I mean ******* slowly

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you think that Trip Mine and Time Bomb are about dps then you've sorely misunderstood their use. AoE Alpha Strike.

Set up enough and you can vaporize a +2 boss before he deals any damage to you (requires a pull method that doesn't let him shoot at you immedately).

Used wisely they're nearly enough to call /Devices overpowered for solo play. Almost zero risk (especially when combined with CD and Super Speed) and plenty of reward. The only balancing factor is the speed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For me the speed factor reduces their usefulness considerably. Most other AT's have finished with the entire fight and moved onto the next one before the mine layer has even laid half the mines he needs. Wasn't so bad when hasten could be made more or less permanent but now, unless you happen to have hasten available before the fight starts, you're in for a long old wait. Teams don't wait that long and even solo, it turns the mission into a boring wait...blast...wait...blast...wait...blast thing.

If the devs see the devices set as overpowered then they obviously know something about it that I didn't discover in the time it took Calamity to reach level 50. Caltrops are useful in PvE and the targetting drone gives you a little extra accuracy. Can't be relied on now though, we still have to slot for accuracy in the attacks because a mouse sneezing next door drops all our toggles now - including the targetting drone.

I've starting playing melee toons now, pretty well discouraged from playing my AR/Devices blaster. Guess I just don't have the patience to spend 10 minutes setting up a minefield, luring something onto the mines then running away because not a single mine has gone off, or they all went off and missed and having to start all over again. There's not a huge amount of fun in that as far as I'm concerned.
  22. Kill it fast. It spawns like crazy anyway so you want everybody on it. You can almost feel everybody's pulse rate rise a little when one of those is sighted but they're not a huge problem if everybody does what they're supposed to...that includes nobody running up to take a look then running back to the team in a panic with a purple trail behind him...
  23. You didn't say how large the team was that you're playing in but as a blaster you should never ever ever ever

    ever

take the alpha strike for a large team. You won't survive it.

That means letting the tanks or scrappers getting in there first and taking the aggro. Or at least letting a controller lock the mobs down first. If you aggro a large group of mobs who are free to target you, you will most likely die.

On the other hand, debt for a blaster is nothing to be too worried about, it's the penalty you pay for being so powerful
  24. LunaWisp

    WS rocks!

I just couldn't get on with mine, I deleted her in the late 20's and remade, then I deleted her again at 16 and turned her into a dark/dark defender

I do like my PB though. Strange that I can't get on with a WS. Oh well.
  25. LunaWisp

    Teleport Foe?

    [ QUOTE ]
I use that, but you have to be very careful with it. If the hold misses, or is just not quite in fast enough, the void can sometimes get a shot in. Which will ruin your day if it stuns/knockdowns you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're telling me. I remade my WS yesterday. At level 4 she got a mission with a +1 void in it.

    Bang...knockdown...get up agonisingly slowly
    Bang...knockdown...get up agonisingly slowly
    Bang...dead.

After that happened twice with me having no useful defence or any way to hit back I decided to do some street hunting for a while.

After I've gained a couple of levels I'll go back and teach that smug git a lesson. But what a pain to meet a void at level 4
